Sunderland’s Victor Anichebe has said that only Eden Hazard of Chelsea was ranked higher than him in the Premier League, before he got injured.
The Nigerian striker who was out for two different spells, says his injuries ruined what would have become a great season for him at the Stadium of Light.
“I love it here, before I got injured I felt great, performances were good, someone was saying that outside Hazard I was one of the highest ranked attackers in the league, so I’ve enjoyed it,” he told the Sunderland Echo.
“The fans have been great to me, it is a really great club, so whenever I go out there I try as hard as I can. This injury was meant to keep me out for 12/13 weeks but I came back after nine, because I wanted to help the team because I know I can with the different style I bring.
“It’s a great club, great stadium, great training facilities, great fanbase, it’s a shame we are where we are.”
Anichebe also said he was not thinking about his contract, which expires at the end of this season.
“I’m not thinking about it at the moment, I just need to stay fit and help us get some wins, for the fans here and our ourselves,” he added.

Nigerian female rapper, Adesola Idowu, popularly known as Weird MC has taken a swipe at the just concluded Big Brother Naija reality show, describing it as ‘shortcut’ to wealth.

The Nigerian-British producer argues in an instagram post @weirdmcofficial that hard work was better than fast money gotten from guzzling of alcohol, partying and bathing naked as exhibited in the Big brother reality show.

She recalled how Efe, winner of the reality show was celebrated, yet Ibrahim was condemned for returning envelope a customer lost in the bank containing 10, 000 USD.

She urged Nigerians to shun ways of reality show and focus on hard work.

She wrote: ”Last year July, a security man attached to UBA, Oba Akran Branch Ikeja Lagos did the unthinkable. He returned an opened envelope a customer lost in the bank that contained 10, 000 US dollars (about 3.5 million naira by then).

”His monthly salary was below 40, 000 naira. Some Nigerians then especially the youths mocked him on the Internet by insisting that he was not a normal Nigerian. Some said that his village gods made him not to take the money.’

“The man’s name is Ibrahim Mohammed Ogbanago, yesterday at UBA BANK annual general meeting, heaven opened for him.

“Though the bank refused to announce how much they gave him, two governors gave him total of 15, 000 dollars and the Senate will honour him physically on Tuesday with an award and 5 million naira.

“Some Nigerians celebrated the winner of Big Brother Africa that went home with 25 million. But the cash reward for BBN is for what?

“Ibrahim got his reward for hard work, honesty and integrity not by being indoors guzzling alcohol, partying, smoking or bathing naked for the world to see.

“I celebrate Ibrahim and urge Nigerians to know that honesty and integrity can be rewarded.

“We must shun all short cuts to wealth. Be contented but work hard.”

Chelsea captain, legend and leader John Terry will be quitting the Blues this summer following a joint statement released on Monday by the club and the defender.

Terry is a father of two beautiful children and he has been happily married to Toni for the past 10 years.

He has been exceptional winning the EPL – four times, FA Cup – 5 times, Carling Cup – 3 times, FA Community shield – twice, UEFA Champions League – once and the Europa Cup – once as well.

1. Celestine Babayaro Celestine Babayaro played alongside John Terry during the early days of the Chelsea man at Stamford Bridge and they were both solid for the Blues in defence.

2. John Obi Mikel Mikel and Terry were the last men standing in the Chelsea generation that metamorphosed from minnows in England to European champions and Kings at Stamford Bridge.

Both players were the longest serving members of the Blues squad alongside Branislva Ivanovic. The Serbian and Nigerian have left the club with the English man set to follow at the end of the season.

3. Victor Moses Victor Moses didn’t not play too many games with John Terry because he was constantly sent on loan – three consecutive times to be specific.

Although, it has changed this season with the Nigerian playing virtually every game but injury has prevented Terry from playing most of the games.

4. Ola Aina The new catch by the Super Eagles handlers has been on the periphery of Chelsea with very few appearances for the first team.

Aina made his full professional debut for Chelsea in the EFL Cup game against Bristol City last August and he was subbed off by Terry after a slight knock to his ankle.

5. Kenneth Omeruo Omeruo ranks lowest in this list as he had only enjoyed training games with the Chelsea legend.

Since being bought by Chelsea in 2012, Omeruo has no record of a competitive game for the Blues, but he described Terry as an exceptional and selfless leader.
