There are speculations that some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are defecting to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Naija News reports that this comes after some of the branded campaign vehicles of APC flagbearer, Bola Tinubu, and his running mate Kashim Shettima, was spotted at the campaign office of the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar in Abuja. In a video shared by the former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, over six vehicles of the Tinubu/Shettima campaign were seen packed outside Atiku’s campaign office. According to FFK, the former vice president and his men desperately parked the vehicles in front of their Abuja office to create the impression that APC supporters are defecting to PDP. He noted that PDP’s aim has been defeated adding that are attempting to sow a seed of suspicion and divisions in the APC ranks. He wrote: “Atiku and his men are so desperate that they park Tinubu/Shettima vehicles in front of his Abuja campaign office to give the impression that our supporters are defecting to him. “They are also attempting to sow seeds of suspicion and division in our ranks. They have failed!” Nigeria Doesn’t Need Another Ethnic Lord Like Tinubu, Peter Obi Meanwhile, former Presidential aide, Reno Omokri has said Nigeria does not need an ethnic champion like the incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari. Omokri, in a series of tweets via his Twitter handle on Friday, said the country cannot have another ethnic lord like Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP). The controversial author said Buhari depended on another regional champion like the former Governor of Lagos State to shore up his support in Southern Nigeria. He said Tinubu only fills stadia when he holds campaign rallies in the South West, stating he has challenges filling venues in other regions. Omokri alleged that Obi could not even fill stadia in his home region, saying it has been “on and off in the South East, and off everywhere else.” |

A federal high court in Abuja has set aside the interim order of forfeiture issued on properties belonging to Ike Ekweremadu, former deputy senate president. What the court said: The presiding judge, Inyang Ekwo, in his ruling on Friday, January 20, 2023, held that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) which obtained the order on behalf of the Federal Government concealed information that led to granting it. Specifically, Justice Ekwo said that EFCC which was fully aware that Ekweremadu was in custody in the United Kingdom failed to make the vital information available to court. Why Ekweremadu was in court: Ekweremadu, who is currently in prison in the United Kingdom for alleged human trafficking, had his properties seized by the anti-graft commission on allegations of fraud and corruption. What you should know: Meanwhile, the former Deputy Senate President and his wife are currently standing trial in the United Kingdom over an alleged organ harvest. |

The governor of River State, Mr. Wike Nyesom, says that if he should open up about the secret that keeps the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, in detention, the Nigerian government will have no choice but to release him immediately. He further stated that Nnamdi Kanu is still in their custody because he has refused to dance to their tune and because Buhari has asked him to do something and he has refused to do it, so they are not releasing him. and I am really sure that if all this is exposed today, Nigeria will divide, he said. According to him, if I talk now, they will say that Wike is talking too much, but if I reveal the secret that still keeps Nnamdi Kanu in detention, he will be released immediately, and I am really sure that this country will be divided after saying it. Nnamdi Kanu refused to dance to the tune of the federal government of Nigeria; that is why he is still in their co-study, he said. |

COMMENTS Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra state in Nigeria, received a standing ovation after delivering a powerful speech to Nigerians at Chatham House in London on Monday. The event, which was chaired by Dr. Alex Vines, brought the presidential candidate of the Labour Party to discuss his vision for policy and governance reforms in Nigeria. In his speech, Obi highlighted the need for Nigeria to diversify its economy and reduce its dependence on oil. He argued that the country’s oil sector has been a major source of corruption and that the country needs to focus on developing other sectors, such as agriculture and manufacturing, to create sustainable growth. Obi also emphasized the importance of investing in education and human capital development to build a strong workforce that can drive the country’s economic growth. He stressed that Nigeria must also address the underlying issues of poverty and inequality to truly achieve economic and social development. The audience was impressed by Obi’s insights and his ability to articulate a clear vision for Nigeria’s future. His speech was well-received and sparked a lively discussion on the challenges and opportunities facing Nigeria |

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Labour Party, is not an Igbo candidate, according to the South-East council of traditional rulers, despite receiving support from his home region in the South-East. They claimed that the South-East never met and selected Peter Obi to run for president on its behalf. When Peter Obi visited the traditional leaders, Lawrence Agubuzu, the council's chairman, said this. Agubuzu advised Nigerians to choose their candidates based on their qualifications and not on the basis of their tribe, religion, or ethnicity in an article published by The Cable on Saturday. Agubuzu also asked Nigerians to reject sentiments and choose leaders who can end the nation's poverty, unemployment, corruption, injustice, and insecurity. He asserted that Peter Obi's track record has been attested to by the traditional leaders in the South-East who watched him grow up, attend school, and hold numerous jobs. He stated: "They are aware that Mr. Peter Obi was not selected and presented as a presidential candidate by the South-East at any level or in any forum. However, they, our subjects, are overjoyed and, in fact, a part of the praise and jubilation with which the majority of Nigerians welcomed the thrilling news of Obi's selection and nomination as the Labour Party's presidential candidate." |

We never saw Peter Obi coming, he took us all by surprise, the only mistake we made in APC was taking him for granted Peter Obi is a force to beat no longer PDP, we didn’t see Peter Obi becoming this huge in the race, we thought it was a weak campaign and they will fade off, it’s clear now that we can’t stand a chance in this race If we don’t work hard. He has changed the political spectrum, some parties like PDP are afraid to share money for vote, because the person you are paying, you don’t know who he or she is coming to vote for.
