MISTAKES TINUBU’S PRESIDENTIAL HANDLERS MUST AVOID

Starting from October 24th, the ruling All Progressives Congress will kickstart active political activities for next year’s Presidential Election officially in Kaduna, the political capital of the North.

It will be a time to expect the unexpected from the opposition. A time for massive defections from one party to another in furtherance of one’s political interest.

A time for accusation and counter accusations from within the party and the opposition.

A time for the opening of the pandora boxes or dossiers of politicians for public scrutiny.

Just as we say in journalism profession; “If it can bleed, then it can lead;" the coming days would be the time when my colleagues in the media who are still standing idly-by, watching and studying the nation’s political situation would be divided along party lines; promoting, attacking and defending the interest of one candidate or the other.

It will be the time when my articles will no longer appear in certain media organizations because of interest.

However, President Bola Tinubu should understand that, as a top candidate for the forth coming Presidential Election, the opposition would turn him to be their punching bag with the sole intention of discrediting him while enhancing their own chances.

Already, the President has done well but he should direct his campaign team and supporters never to put up “Too big to fail attitude” throughout the electioneering campaigns because some of them have started carrying themselves as if the election has been won already instead of rolling up their sleeves to hit the ground running.

President Tinubu should instruct his team not to leave anything to chance because an unconsidered variable in an election of this magnitude may turn out to be the major issue; especially now that the opposition is talking about fielding a single candidate.

Therefore, the campaign council should perish the thought that anyone coming close to them is coming to dislodge them from their vantage position.

Some of them ran the government with a closed door mentality and are still thinking that such mentality can work this time around.

Tinubu's interest must be put at the forefront and they should be open to good ideas and recognize individual and collective efforts that will ensure that Tinubu is returned to office next year.

The truth is that, if they refuse to show altruistic commitment and support to the President’s re-election bid and allows selfish interest and the spoils of the moment to deny him re-election, Tinubu as a person has nothing to lose.

When the worse comes to worst, Tinubu would join the league of African Statesmen. In this regard, it is the greedy ones that will bear the brunt of their mistakes and not the President.

On the other hand, President Tinubu should not maintain complacency in extra-ordinary times because, that was the strategy that cost former French President, Nicolas Sarkozy his re-election bid in 2012.

It will be recalled that when the opposition party led by Francois Hollande was roaring like lion and leading in various opinion polls, Nicolas Sarkozy and his men were displaying nonchalant attitude as well as portraying the image of a bound to win candidate.

So, before they could realize what was happening, the opposition party; the Socialist Party which had been in disarray after the fall of its predicted Presidential candidate and former Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Dominique Strauss-Khan, had already gained much ground.

Subsequently, when they went in to the election proper, Francois Hollande defeated Mr. Sarkozy.

I’m however not saying this will happen to the President, but it’s a call on the campaign council to seat up and march or surpass the opposition in every front till the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declares APC winner of next year's Presidential Elections.

Though, some of us will move back to the trenches to ensure the absolute victory of Mr. President so as to avoid any form of run-off.

In any case, I decided to cite the experience of Nicolas Sarkozy and his party, the Union for Popular Movement (UPM) so that the Presidential campaign handlers will learn nostalgic lessons from such misadventure.

This is because, those managing any presidential candidate must be accessible and open to new ideas at all times; especially game-changing ones.

These are ideas that can leapfrog a backward candidate to the leading position in the race.

They should note that Nigeria is changing and as a result, ideas that worked in previous elections may not work in the coming election or may simply require little review and improvement so as to march the unfolding political realities in the days ahead!

Accordingly, The campaign council should be focused, dedicated and always be loyal to it's presidential candidate.

They should never be two-faced Janus or found running with the here and hunting with the hound or backstabbing their candidate and cutting deals with his opponents.

Some of the things I highlighted here were some of the egregious political mistakes I personally observed while serving in various campaign teams of the past.

From every political calculations and permutations devoid of propaganda, President Tinubu is still on the lead even as his campaign team need more works to be done in the area of grassroots mobilization and sensitization.

The current habit of rushing to the national television in order to be seen as a serious party stalwart is not only hypothetical but deceptive.

Finally, I understand that some of the views I expressed here are not politically correct but I'm ready to face the consequences if that is the price I must pay for saying the truth.

PCC Inauguration: Uhara Hails Tinubu for Prioritizing Governance over Re-election Campaign

Following the declaration by President Bola Tinubu that he will stay away from some of the activities of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, a United Nations-trained Negotiator and former Member of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Comrade Edwin Uhara has commended Mr. President for prioritizing governance over politics.

Uhara stated this in a statement released to newsmen in Enugu on Thursday, saying that the President's decision is commendable because governance cannot take the back seat while campaigns take the front seat at a time Nigeria’s multidimensional poverty index rate is on the rise.

Noting that the President must sit back and work to tame the ugly trend the same way he has been able to turn the fortunes of the Nigerian Exchange Market around.

The party stalwart warned the opposition to mind their business, adding that the President cannot be acting like the opposition whom he described as rolling stones that gather no responsibility.

In a statement released to newsmen in Enugu on Wednesday, Uhara said, Hon. Kalu has the capacity, the goodwill and the structure to market President Bola Tinubu and also deliver victory to him in the entire 17 Southern States of the country.

Even before his appointment into the Presidential Campaign Council, I have seen the marvelous works Hon. Kalu has been doing with Renewed Hope Partners; a social-political organization he floated and is funding to sensitize Nigerians on the achievements of our President and also galvanize supports for his re-election bid next year.

Hon. Kalu is a political bulwark who defends the President's interest in rooms where nobody is watching.

Nigeria at 66: Uhara Urge Youths to Stand Up for Democracy

As the nation marks it's 66th Independence Anniversary, a Pan Africanist and Former National President of Young Nigerians for Change, Comrade Edwin Uhara has called on the youths to stand up for democracy in all frontiers and also defend it with every fiber of their being whenever the best system of government is being threatened.

Uhara stated this in a statement released to newsmen in Yenagoa on Thursday to celebrate the nation's 66th Independence Day Anniversary and the 30th anniversary of Bayelsa State creation by General Sani Abacha on October 1st, 1996.

The United Nations-trained Negotiator noted that the Nigerian Youths were at the heart of the country's independence struggles and must not take the back seat in the country's scheme of things now.

He told the story of how Chief Ernest Ikoli in his youthful age founded the Lagos Youth Movement in 1934 which later metamorphosed into the Nigerian Youth Movement and became a vehicle that was adopted as the youth platform for spreading of national consciousness for the Independence of the new nation.

It was at this point of higher consciousness that the activities of the movement was noticed by great leaders like Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe and other nationalists who now gave supports to the organization and incorporated it as the youth wing of the independence struggle.

He further stated that nobody will attach value to us simply because we are youth if we don't add values to ourselves.

Accordingly, while the struggle for independence may have ended with the 20th Century, the new tasks before every youth in this century is to stand up for democracy and defend it from every form of encouragement irrespective of party affiliation.

Therefore, as we gradually draw closer to next year's general elections, the youth should not only be in the forefront of the campaigns for their respective candidates but should also be in the forefront of defending the country's fledgling democracy and it's institutions.

By this, we will demonstrate to our elders that the young have grown and no longer the young shall grow endless promise.

It is however sad to note that some of our elders instead of according us the benefits of our new status have decided to change the cliche from the young shall grow to mean while the young are growing, the elders should be prospering.

Therefore, we should go back to our drawing boards and come up with a better strategy on how to accomplish our dreams within democratic ethos outside the current social media ranting.

This is what I expect the organizers of the National Youths Confab slated for this month to achieve!

Noting that only a Presidential intervention can make the warring parties to sheath their sword at this very moment.

Uhara however slammed some opposition figures for fueling the matter and taking side in the feud through their surrogates while hoping to benefit from the brotherly disagreement.

The party stalwart expressed confidence that the issue will soon be a thing of the past adding that the feud is a disguised way of showing to the world how ready and prepared we are to winning next year's round of elections.

A Pan Africanist and United Nations-trained Negotiator, Comrade Edwin Uhara has congratulated the immediate past Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Boss Mustapha CFR on the occasion of his 70th birthday anniversary.

In a statement released to newsmen in Abuja on Friday to mark this year's anniversary celebration, Uhara described Mustapha as a great patriot whose humility and contributions to nation building is legendary and best among equals.

Noting that as Chairman of the Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19 which later metamorphosed into the Presidential Steering Committee, Mustapha did not only rescued the nation from one of the worst pandemics in human history after the 'Black Death ' known as the Bubonic Plaque but also left a template on how to overcome future disease outbreak in the country.

Adding that even though the country had fought against Ebola Virus in the past, there were no operational guidelines or blue prints to guide the nation on how to fight and overcome subsequent disease outbreaks in Nigeria.

So upon his appointment as the Commander in-Chief in the war against COVID-19, it was only a piece of paper that was handed down to him but because of his extraordinary grace, that piece of paper later became a globally acclaimed phenomenon that no one could ignore.

Today, Nigeria is not afraid of any disease outbreak; not just because Mustapha left operational and policy guidelines on how to tame future disease outbreaks but because the elder statesman built Early Warning Systems (EWS) across the federation in order to alert health workers of any serious danger any disease outbreak could pose to the well-being of the nation on the long run.

Therefore, I am joining his family members, friends and well wishers in celebrating the great milestones achieved by the elder statesman as he joins the Septuagenarian club of great leaders.

Babangida at 85: Separating Fact from Fiction in Nigeria’s Crisis Years`

If there is anything the 85th birthday anniversary of the former Military President, General Ibrahim Babangida has achieved apart from the normal goodwil messages, then it is the platform it has provided for a national discuss so that Nigerians can critically examine his years in office as the country's leader within the context of truth, objectivity and balance.

This has become very important because Nigerians and historians need to separate facts from fictions in the future because journalism is the first draft of history.

Before General Babangida became Military President between August 27, 1985 and August 26, 1993, there were many challenges confronting the country already.

For example, in 1983, Nigeria faced severe economic collapse, widespread political corruption and violent electoral fraud that eventually ended the Second Republic.

In the same vein, the country ran out of foreign exchange, forcing factories to shut down and losing half of the nation's industrial capacity.

Government borrowing soared, leading to massive national debt, unpaid workers salaries and soaring prices for basic goods with it's attendant consequences on families and households.

The country was pushed to the survival mode and life expectancy was drastically reduced as most Nigerians were living without hope for tomorrow.

Weak government institutions, rampant cases of frauds, embezzlement of public funds, personal aggrandizements, inflated contracts and elite corruption worsened public hardship while leaders prioritized personal gain over democratic solidarity.

Because of the terrible economic realities of that time, Nigeria embarked on mass expulsion of immigrants from the country in what was then known as 'Ghana Must Go.'

For example, in early 1983, the government expelled roughly over two million undocumented West African immigrants—mostly Ghanaians—hoping to ease local economic pressure, but the move failed to solve the country's high unemployment rate.

Uncertainties pervaded the atmosphere over rising crime rate and hardships as extreme poverty led to increased armed robbery attacks, thuggery and the exploitation of jobless youths by dubious politicians for electoral crimes and gerrymandering.

Hospitals, schools, and basic infrastructures deteriorated sharply due to the lack of funding and severe mismanagement as our hospitals in particular became mere consulting clinics without drugs.

According EBSCO Research, the country witnessed severe revenue losses. The losses were huge that it affected the country's food production and supply chains.

For instance, "The national agricultural program known as the Green Revolution was grievously mismanaged and this situation was further aggravated by unmanageable natural disasters such as insect pests, rinderpest epidemic and drought."

The report continued, "To make matters worse, the government faced a crisis of mounting debt from 1.1 billion naira in 1977 to 7.7 billion naira in1983.

On the political front, a disputed election results sparked deadly protests and many court battles, deeply dividing the country and eroding public trust in President Shehu Shagari's administration.

So by December 31th, 1983, a regime change was effected as a result of the frustration caused by the economic freefall and corrupt political class.

That was when the then senior military officers led by Major General Muhammadu Buhari overthrew President Shagari's civilian government and subsequently launched the War Against Indiscipline in a bid to sanitise the system.

Before that, President Shagari had presented his budget speech on December 29, 1983, and then retired to his lodge in Abuja for the holiday season but on that day, a coup d'état was planned by a few senior military officers.

Shagari initially escaped arrest because of the death of the conspirators' ringleader Brigadier Ibrahim Bako at a roadblock on his way to arresting the president."

On December 31, at 7:00 AM, Brigadier Sani Abacha announced the "change of leadership" carried out by the armed forces to save the nation from what he described as "the grave economic predicament and uncertainty which an inept and corrupt leadership had imposed on the nation for the previous four years."

That evening, Major General Muhammadu Buhari was declared the new head of state.

His administration started with a public campaign against the rampant and ubiquitous disorderliness with the launch of the War Against Indiscipline (WAI).

These were some of the challenges Nigeria faced before Babangida came to power in 1985.

So the idea that Babangida is the cause of Nigeria's problem is truly a violation of logic which the rational mind cannot understand.

For example, in Abacha's speech of 1983, he said our hospitals were mere consulting clinics.

In any case, I don't want to say that our hospitals are consulting clinics but during the war against COVID-19, Nigeria had more than 10,000 Primary Healthcare Centres across the 774 Local Governments but non was functional enough to be used as isolation centre.

This was what necessitated the need for the building of emergency isolation centres by the Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19 for contact tracing among others.

Therefore, I believe that instead of vilifying a particular leader who did his best for the good of the nation with the purest of intentions, I think we should invest that same energy in finding solutions to the problems that have been there before some of us were even born.

This is because history will only remember us for the solutions we provide and not the criticisms we made.

After all, a critics is one who knows the way but cannot drive.

If You Can't Celebrate IBB at 85, Leave Him Alone Please

I read the excoriating remarks made against the respected elder statesman and former Military President, General Ibrahim Babangida by the Presidential Candidate of the African Action Congress, Mr. Omoyele Sowore with uttermost shock and disbelieve.

I know Sowore to be a man who fight for rights but not as a man without empathy.

So I wonder what came over him when he scolded those who celebrated one of the best leaders Nigeria has ever produced?

In as much as I am not here to hold brief for anybody, I strongly believe that Sowore goofed in his diatribe against the former President; not just because he insulted the elder statesman who gave his best in the service of the country with uncharitable words but because of his lack of empathy and respect for a man old enough to be his father.

Is it not interesting to note that about 33 years after IBB left office, many Nigerians are still remembering him and celebrating his legacies?

Is it contract or appointment that he is offering them?

This is because the truth cannot be hidden forever. It's just a matter of time!

However, I can sense the frustration of Sowore and others who thinks like him.

Sowore is frustrated because the big lies told and sustained against IBB has expired.

So coming to tell Nigerians the same old stories without prove is dead on arrival because Nigerians now know the truth with the help of the internet.

It will be recalled that during the analogue ages when most Nigerians did not have access to newspapers at will but depended on opinion leaders for information, all manner of lies, propaganda and false narratives were told against IBB.

They relied on the dark side of a communication theory called 'Status Conferral' to propagate their satanic agenda.

Status conferral” is a press theory that says that the media singles out and confers certain images (good or bad) upon certain individuals they chose to cover.

In other words, when the media portrays such person as good, even if the person is bad, the people will start seeing the person as a good person but when the media portrays that same person as bad, even if the person is good, the people will start seeing him or her as a bad person.

That was why in his work entitled: “Big lie is a propaganda technique,’’ Joseph Goebbels, late propaganda chief to the former German leader, Adolph Hitler, stated that “If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, the people will eventually believe it.”

He went further by saying that “The most brilliant propandist’s technique will yield no success unless one fundamental principle is borne in mind constantly- that it must confine itself to a few points and repeat them over and over.’’

In supporting Goebbels assertion, Adolph Hitler added that propaganda has to be popular and accommodate itself to the comprehension of the least intelligent of those whom it seeks to reach.

And that through clever and constant application of propaganda; the people can be made to see paradise as hell.

So in doing this, Hitler suggested that the propaganda machinery must make the lie big, make it simple, keep saying it and eventually the people will believe it.

He concluded by saying that “The great masses of the people will more easily fall victims to a big lie than to a small one, because the victor will never be asked if he told the truth.

So over the years, the media has consistently portrayed General Babangida as a bad person with several nicknames despite all his patriotic services and wise counsel to the nation.

They forgot the fact that the revenue that accrued to his government in eight years was what successive administrations were generating in one year and yet their achievements cannot match that of IBB.

This is not just hypothetical assertions but facts that are on records for everyone to see.

So what then is the basis for still holding on to old believes and false narratives against IBB?

You see, history has a way of vindicating the just.

Finally, because every lie has an expiry date, Nigerians are now begining to decipher the truth with their objective mind because in any battle between the truth and the falsehoods, the truth must prevail.

And now, the truth is beginning to prevail and will continue till the end because the truth speaks for itself -- Res ipsa loquitur.

Election Campaigns: Don't Overheat the Polity -- Uhara Urge Politicians

As the Presidential and National Assembly Election Campaigns officially begins on August 19 with Governorship and State Assembly Campaigns following suit on September 9, a Pan Africanist and United Nations-trained Negotiator, Comrade Edwin Uhara has called on politicians to observe decorum in their political utterances in order not to overheat the Polity.

Uhara gave the advice in a statement released to newsmen in Enugu on Tuesday, noting that the fragile peace in the country cannot withstand another nerve-racking political communication that does not have the best interest of the nation at heart.

He urged political parties and their candidates to always remember that there would be another election after this very one and never allow themselves to be used as agent provocateurs or display tendencies capable of fracturing the glue that hold us together as a nation.

Adding that we don't have APC Nigerians, ADC Nigerians or NDC Nigerians but one indivisible Nigeria under God with shared values, ideals and aspirations.

Though these values can be expressed in different ideological beliefs which gave impetus to multiparty democracy but the end goal is to build a better, just and equitable Nigeria where no one is oppressed.

So the question is not whether we love this country because that is never in doubt, but what is at stake in this contest is the best possible ways and faster means of unlocking the enduring promise of our founders when the British Union Jack was lowered for the Green White Green Flag on our soil.

Therefore, our political communications should focus more on the vision and the mission of parties and their candidates and not on divisive rhetorics or unnecessary muckrakings.

In other words, we should think like statesmen and women who thinks about the next generation but act like politicians who thinks about the next election.

International Youth Day: Uhara Urge African Youths to Promote Peace

A United Nations-trained Negotiator and former National President of Young Nigerians for Change, Comrade Edwin Uhara has called on African youths to promote peace, unity and integration across the continent.

In a statement released to newsmen in Enugu on Wednesday to mark this year's International Youth Day, Uhara said the future of Africa is not in the hands of the older generations but in the hands of the youth who must unleash their creativity, innovation and skills into leapfrogging the continent to the next level because the currency of change in this century is idea.

Going down the memory lane, Uhara said that Africa is not in its comfort zone today because it lost out in the battle for a foothold of the global economy during the industrial revolution which is why Africa's contribution to world trade is between 2.7 percent and 3 percent in a global trade valued at over $35 trillion.

Nonetheless, I understand that there are some temporal challenges that sometimes derail the pursuit of peace and unity across the continent but we should never allow ourselves to be overwhelmed by these challenges.

Whether these challenges appear as xenophobic attack on fellow Africans or indigenization policy, we should always remember the motto of the Pan African Movement which is 'Africa for the Africans'.

It was this philosophy that gave birth to various nationalist movements that led to the independence struggles of many countries across the continent.

That was why Kwame Nkrumah, the first President of Ghana once said that, "The independence of Ghana is meaningless unless it is linked-up with the total liberation of the African Continent."

However, while condemnation is not accountability, the time has come for youths across the continent to rise up to the occasion of bridging the gap between the vision of the Africans of yesterday and the reality in today's Africa because our challenges may be in different contexts but we share common aspirations.

It is the aspiration expressed by the Pan African Youth Forum in what is now known as the Oran Declaration of 2024 which laid special emphasis on education and skills development, employment and economic opportunities, youth empowerment and participation, health and well-being, environmental sustainability, peace, security and good governance among others.

Therefore, some challenges linked to poverty, climate change, limited economic opportunities and unequal access to digital technologies are not unique to one country alone but a general problem that requires collaboration and not economic iron curtain.

Finally, we should always allow the spirit of Ubuntu to guide our actions and never again should we give-in to the temptation of drinking with the cup of bitterness and hatred.

Thoughts on the Forthcoming Memorial Service in Honour of late President Buhari

One year after his death, his memory is still fresh in our minds, his thoughts still live rent-free on our heads and his legacies still remains the talk of town -- former President Muhammadu Buhari was indeed a great leader by all standards and deserved to be remembered as enunciated by the Central Planning Committee of the body handling the forthcoming memorial service and free book launch in his honour.

Like Napoleon Bonaparte once said: "Great men are meteors designed to burn so that earth may be lighted," Buhari did not only bring light to the nation but he brought shining flame that illuminated the length and breath of the nation; from Abia to Zamfara, the story is the same.

It is the story of a man who denied himself comfort for the benefit of the talakawas; a man who did not build new house but instead donated his salary for the common good of the people.

In fact, let me not dwell on his government's achievements because the "big boys" of his administration will do that, but let me draw attention to the area that nobody talked about and will likely not talk about on his memorial day.

It is the story of how the late President was able to tame the overbearing influence of the Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF) who nearly took over the functions of the National Assembly and appropriated the duties of the president to themselves through the back door.

As a Press Officer in one of the lobby groups in Abuja then, when some of the governors come to our office, you often hear them boast that no policy can be implemented by the President without their endorsement.

So before the coming of Buhari, we witnessed how legislative bills must enjoy the backing of the governors before it could fly at the National Assembly.

We saw how the president must pander to the interest of governors before having his wish done.

Any lawmaker who refused to support the position of his state governor is sure of losing his seat in next election.

We saw how a sitting president dare not appoint a minister outside the list submitted by state governors because of political correctness.

We saw how the Chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum was dragging the national leadership status of a ruling party with the Commander-in-Chief; creating a situation where the governors must approve the choice of whoever the president was bringing as national chairman of his party.

Governors were having asphyxiating effects on the President to the extent that no major appointment could come from their states without their inputs.

The situation was so tensed that David Mark as then Senate President had to admit that there was an understanding between him and his state governor which warranted that he will respect his governor anytime he was in Benue State but that his governor must also respect him anytime he was in Abuja because of his position as the number three citizen of the country.

Every attempt to put governors to where they belong failed. The presidency supported Jonah Jang, former Governor of Plateau State to become Chairman of the Governors Forum but he failed.

While Jonah Jang was Jangling with the Presidency over a failed mission, the NGF was having a field day.

The organization was so strong that an attack on one governor was treated as an attack on all governors.

It was out of this frustration that led to the formation of the PDP Governor's Forum with then 'uncommon' Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Chief Godswill Akpabio as it's first Chairman but still could not match the force of the NGF.

But when Buhari came on board, only with his body language alone, the new Sheriff was able to conquer what others couldn't.

Today, the Presidency has taken back it's power in full, including the power to appoint anybody into any office without third party interference.

With this and many others, former President Muhammadu Buhari deserve to be remembered and honoured.

And according to the Chairman of the Central Planning Committee for the event and immediate past Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr Boss Mustapha, he said: "On behalf of the Central Planning Committee, I have the honour and privilege to address you on the plans for the forthcoming first anniversary of the passing of our beloved former President, Muhammadu Buhari."

"The commemorative event will bring together the family he left behind, his friends and associates, public officials, and well-wishers, to remember his life and to offer prayers and supplications for the repose of his soul.

Adding that "The programme will consist principally of interfaith and interdenominational prayers, reflecting the values of unity, faith and national cohesion that he upheld throughout his life and his service to our country."

"At the event, a select number of individuals who worked closely with the late President will speak about his historical legacy and share their personal experiences of him."

The former SGF further noted that "A book of tributes titled, "Tributes and Condolences in Honour of Muhammadu Buhari," will be presented to the public by the Special Guest of Honour, His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu."

In its pages, the global community, including heads of state, diplomats and political leaders, remembered the late President as a man of simplicity, resilience and integrity.

He recalled that following his passing at the age of 82 on the 13th of July last year, the world honoured his life for his humility and as a source of inspiration. I should add that the book is neither for sale nor for fundraising. It is for free distribution.”

The former SGF urged Nigerians to pray for the late president in their places of worship, expressing hope that the commemoration would foster national unity and comfort his family, friends and admirers.

He continued, “Religious leaders representing the various faiths and denominations will lead prayers for him. Our hope is that the occasion will not only honour the memory of the late President, but also serve as a source of comfort and encouragement to his family, his friends, his admirers, and the entire people of this country who continue to cherish his worthy legacy of service to the nation.

Though no amount of good words can replace his presence in our midst but as believers, we take solace in the Almighty.

And on behalf of all the Buharideens, I am praying that the Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings, shower His infinite love and mercy upon his soul and grant him high rank in Jannatul Firdaus, Ameen Ya Rabi.

A Chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress and United Nations-trained Negotiator, Comrade Edwin Uhara has praised the Chief Executive Officer and Executive Vice-Chairman of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), Mr. Tunji Bello as he turns 65.

In a statement released to newsmen in Abuja on Wednesday, the party stalwart commended Mr. Bello for his unrelenting fight against the exploitation of Nigerian consumers by dubious producers and retailers.

Noting that within the shortest time frame he has been in the office, the FCCPC under his leadership has been able to rekindle the hope of the ordinary Nigerian in our local market by encouraging healthy competition as well as creating room for innovation among market leaders and stakeholders.

In a statement released to newsmen in Enugu on Thursday, Uhara said Kingibe is a living example of the word 'patriotism' and how it should be deployed in rendering selfless service to humanity and the nation at large.

Noting that the elder statesman deserves to be celebrated more than this despite his conscious and sustained efforts to play down his contributions to humanity, the nation and the continent.

Uhara said, Nigerians are only aware of Kingibe's service to the nation but are not very much aware of his immense contributions to humanity and other noble and worthy causes simply because he does not want to make them public.

Adding that his down-to-earth humility was recently brought to public knowledge when he accepted to read the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) news bulletin as news presenter to mark the corporation's 75th anniversary in April this year.

The party stalwart further noted that the octogenarian did not only identify with his primary constituency as a renowned journalist before climbing up the political and diplomatic ladder, but he also proved the age long African adage that says, 'An old woman does not grow old in displaying the dancing steps she knows how to dance very well.'

Dambazau's Diplomatic Mission to China and the Journey So Far

Since his assumption of duty in Beijing, Ambassador Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau has left no one in doubt about his core mission of renewing the hope of the country through diplomatic engagements in the People's Republic of China.

Not only that he rolled up his sleeves and hit the ground running, but in his characteristics zeal of adding value to whatever he does, he initiated moves intended to familiarize himself with all the staff as well as align them with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu's administration.

So far so good, he has engaged with many investors, scholars and captains of industry with the aim of exploring possible investment opportunities in both countries.

In one of such visits with his team, this is what the envoy said: "Today we visited a factory - (STELATO) showroom and the headquarters of BAIC INTERNATIONAL; one of China's biggest manufacturers of electric vehicles. "

"The company was established in 1958 in partnership with Mercedes Benz and it has over 10 factories in China and 29 factories globally."

"The company has spread selling centres to over 140 countries across the globe."

He continued, "Although the company has a showroom in Abuja but we discussed the possibility of establishing a factory in Nigeria."

"We also discussed the possibility of establishing a battery processing factory to leverage on the huge deposits of lithium in Nigeria."

"With this, there will be skills acquisition and employment opportunities for our youth as well as transfer of technology and Nigeria will be a regional hub for the manufacturing of electric vehicles in West Africa."

Though Dambazau is a foreign policy wonk by training but as a way of upgrading his knowledge to the latest practice in the diplomatic circle, he recently attended a seminar on 70 Years of China-Africa and China-Arab Diplomatic Relations which centered on how to jointly build a community with shared future."

"China's Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs was the Special Guest of Honour while the Permanent Representative of the African Union to China and the Head of Representative Office of the League of Arab States in China were all in attendance."

The seminar discussed unity and mutual support in the global south economic cooperation and shared developments as well as issues concerning climate change, debt reduction and culture."

It also focused on commitment to One China Policy; people-to-people exchanges; Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), belt and road initiative as well as zero-tariff policy.

The idea is to build sustainable China-Africa-Arab partnerships for peaceful and prosperous future.

In another investment drive to a multinational giant, here is what the Ambassador said: "Today we visited Huawei EBC Exhibition Centre for smart governance, digital power, etc."

"Huawei is the largest telecommunications vendor in Nigeria. The company supplies infrastructure for major carriers like MTN Nigeria and provides enterprise solutions, cloud services and digital power systems."

"It was an opportunity to see the state of the art digital facilities. Many electric vehicle models are linked to Huawei digital technology."

This is a company that only started in 1988 and was introduced to Nigeria in 1999.

He added that the success story of the company was as a result of discipline, determination and selflessness.

He urged them to concentrate their activities on providing opportunities for Nigeria's young population as part of sharing the profits they have been making from doing business in Nigeria on the ground of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

However, it is not all about attracting foreign investments into the country but also about creating opportunities so that Nigerian entrepreneurs can have access to the Chinese market.

One of such Nigerians who visited the embassy recently was Chief Lucky Igbinedion, former governor of Edo State.

Here is what the envoy said after his visit; "Chief Lucky Igbinedion and his business partners visited me today.

It was an interesting conversation on a proposal for partnership between China Science Academy and the Nigerian Science Academy on research collaborations.

They want to embark on the medicinal values of BITTER KOLA and ALLIGATOR PEPPER which I understand are good in curing certain diseases related to kidney and diabetes.

They desire the Embassy to support the project and make a formal connection between the two academies.

We promised to support the project and also emphasized that if the research is successful, part of the agreement is that the pharmaceutical giant must build it's production plant in Nigeria where the raw materials are in abundance."

Adding that, "I also advised that NAFDAC and PSN should be involved from early stage of the research since the end product will be pharmaceutical drugs for the cure of ailments.

Earlier, before starting his diplomatic activities, the envoy had met with relevant authorities in Beijing where several diplomatic introductions were made.

Here is what the Ambassador said after one of such engagements, "My second invitation to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Beijing; this time with the Director -General, African Department following my first meeting with the Minister.

Our discussions focused on a 3-point agenda - 'Diplomatic Cooperation, Trade Policy and Military Cooperation.

We reaffirmed the 'One-China' principle and indepth exchange on strategic issues.

Nigeria being China's second largest trading partner in Africa need to take advantage of the Zero-Tariff Policy, especially on agricultural commodities.

Adding that China wants to increase imports from Nigeria in order to reduce the trade imbalance.

The need to boost military, intelligence, and security cooperation was made clear, especially with the current level of insecurity in Nigeria.

We emphasized the need for domestic production of military and security equipments in Nigeria as a gradual process and we have DICON as a Special Vehicle Plant."

In this regard, the envoy said there would be an inter-governmental committee coming up next month, July, when other important issues will be tabled and discussed accordingly.

From all indications, it is now clear that Ambassador Dambazau has re-enacted the excellence he is well known for in far away China; not only on government-to-government diplomatic levels, but also on government-to-people engagements.

If there is anything the forthcoming June 20th Senatorial Bye Election for Enugu North Senatorial District has brought back to the state, then it's the reintroduction of bogus propaganda that has no correlation with realities on ground nor reflect the actual thinking of notable politicians in the state.

I was discussing with a colleague two days ago and I told him that Enugu State is getting better now because this is the only election season in the history of the state that we are not having any major political crisis.

At least, from the time of former Governor Sullivan Chime to that of Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, I have always been in the media challenging the rantings of the Abuja-based politicians against the state government over some avaricious tendencies stemed from acts of political chicanery.

This time around, the story is different as there is now unity of purpose among all political actors in the state.

But make no mistake, the peaceful atmosphere we are witnessing in the political landscape of the coal city was a product of the seed sown by a man who saw tomorrow and dedicated the state in to the "Hands of God."

So, I was utterly flabbergasted when I saw a manufactured news story planted in some social media outlets alleging that former governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi is working for the PDP candidate for the senatorial election against the candidate of our own great party- the APC.

After analyzing it, I said there was no need trying to verify from Ugwuanyi because I know he will never do such a thing and I decided to write a press statement to debunk the false narrative but before I could finish drafting my release, the ex-governor had already debunked the story in a rebuttal he personally signed.

Upon realizing this fact, I now change my intended press release to an article.

Now the question that should agitate every rational thinker is, who are those behind the false narrative?

What do they seek to achieve knowing full well that Ugwuanyi is already an Ambassador-Designate and will assume duty in Greece any moment from now?

Was it a mere political strategy designed to win the coming senatorial election for the PDP or it's more than meets the eye?

You see, I have been in politics long enough to know that there is something called 'creative-dysfunction' and because of this, people who got the opportunity to be trained by the 'Political-Gamalians' of this country are seriously advised not to be one-way thinkers.

So, on the other side, could it be that they are some enemies within the APC who feel threatened by the rising profile of Ugwuanyi but are looking for evidence to pull him down?

Of cause, we are now in the season of dog-eat-dog politics where people look for evidence to use against their real and imaginary political enemies.

Such fake news report against Ugwuanyi may not necessarily be about invoking Article 21 of the APC Constitution which deals with anti party activities but to use it as evidence against him in relevant quarters which I don't want to reveal here for some security reasons and for my own safety too.

This is because, I have worked in one of the most powerful lobby groups in this country and I have seen how politicians fabricate stories and sponsor them in some media outlets where their targeted victims cannot see it to debunk but only to print them and attach them as evidence to their petition against that person which they will bring to the organization to ensure that it gets to its intended destination.

When that is successfully done, their victim will be having political logjams on their way which they will not be able to figure out the cause.

This is one of the tools hirelings and political lobbyists use in pulling down certain political actors and moving them from grace to grass.

I however crave the indulgence of all lobby groups as this piece is not intended to divulge certain privileged information I have access to.

So, political propaganda is the deliberate spread of biased, one-sided and misleading information designed to manipulate public opinion and influence political beliefs or behavior in order to achieve a pre-determined political goal.

This is why politicians should be very careful even with their most trusted allies because human wants are insatiable.

In conclusion, Ugwuanyi is not only working to deliver the APC senatorial candidate come June 20th, but is working actively for President Tinubu and all APC candidates from top to bottom.

And there is nothing anybody can do about that.

So I have no charitable words for anyone who may be incensed about this unchangeable reality as well as the great value Ugwuanyi is bringing to Mr. President and our great party not only in Enugu State but in the entire Southeast Geopolitical zone.

Those who cannot withstand this reality should bear with us because it is our leader's turn. Baba Wa Lokan!
