Romance‘’I Am Not In School, No Business, No Relationship’ - Nigerian Lady Cries by ExAngel007(op): 6:55am On May 05, 2025

‘’I am not in school, no business, no relationship’ - Nigerian lady cries her eyes out over being an underachiever as she celebrates her 23rd birthday (video)

A video of a young Nigerian lady weeping over not achieving ‘anything’ at 23, has made the rounds on social media.

https://alexis.lindaikejisblog.com/photos/shares/WhatsApp%20Image%202025-05-04%20at%2015.34.50_1746369404.jpeg

In the video, the young lady lamented that she recently turned 23 and her mother came into her
room to pray for her. She said that after her mum finished prayers and left, she was all alone and started to think about her life. She said she is 23 and wonders what her purpose in life is as she is not in school not doing any business, and not even in a relationship.

‘’Today is actually my birthday. My mom came
into my room to pray for me. When she was
done, she stepped out and then I realized that
so much is going in my life, I realized I don't
have much time left. I am 23 years old right
now. If you add two more years to my age, I
will be 25.

I have not figured out my life. I have no
business, I am not working, not in school. no
relationship…I am just there, just living each
day as it comes. I know this is not the plans
God has for me. It cannot be because he
cannot create me and keep me there just to
occupy space. No! Even if that is the plan he
has for me, I know that I want more, I can
change it. The feeling is so overwhelming. I
feel like there is no time. I have not fulfilled
anything. I am just there.

I feel so sorry for myself''

PoliticsNigerian Youths Are Complacent. They Grumble, Complain And Insult- Ireti Kingibe by ExAngel007(op): 6:38am On May 05, 2025
Senator Ireti Kingibe has come hard on Nigerians, saying all they know how to do is be “complacent, grumble and insult their leaders.”

https://alexis.lindaikejisblog.com/photos/shares/epwo_1746377335.jpg

While speaking to journalists, Kingibe who represents the FCT in the Senate, said

‘’I have said it, Nigerian youths are complacent. They are quiet, all they do is grumble. We need to have constructive interactions. All I hear is grumbling and
insults. That is not helpful. The country belongs to the youths, they should own it.

Instead of a proper agenda or programme, they will threaten a strike that everybody knows they are not going to on, how does that achieve anything.''

When asked by the journalists what Nigerian youths should do to take back their country, she said;

‘’This is your country, own it. I do not have another country so we have to make it work.

We have to do whatever is necessary make sure that this country works for everybody.''

She went on to state that Nigerians have not put out a concerted effort to ensure that their leaders do right by them.

I haven't seen a concerted complaint and all I see from most people is about ‘’me''. I want to see something. I am sure other leaders want to see something. All I see are young people who complain and constantly just
insult their leaders. They do not constructively
engaged their leaders. They do not constructively engage their leaders.''

CultureKogi Community Initiates 103 Virgin Girls Into Womanhood (photos) by ExAngel007(op): 5:00pm On May 04, 2025
A total of 103 virgin girls from the Ogori
community have been initiated into womanhood during the Ovia Osese Festival, held in the Ogori-Mangogo Local Government area of Kogi State.

The festival took place on Saturday, May 3, 2025 and is celebrated annually by the people of the Ogori community. It showcases the discipline and reserved nature of the girls before they enter marriage.

The National President of Ogori Descendent
Union (ODU), Dr. Aiso Gabriel Osiwomequin in
his speech said Ovia Osese is more than a
cultural festival, it is a symbol of transition, of
hope, of community.

“It reminds us that no matter where life
takes us, the roots of Ogori run deep in our
hearts. It reminds us that our greatest
strength lies in our togetherness,” he said.

"In this spirit of unity, I stand before you
with profound gratitude. I salute every son
and daughter of Ogori at home and in the
diaspora either by birth or by association
who has contributed, in big and small ways,
to the growth and development of our land.

“Whether by construction of roads, building
of classrooms in CCHSO, supporting the
hospital, starting up a cooperative, nurturing
of our youth, preservation of our culture, and
promotion of peace, your efforts have made
Ogori a proud and thriving community.

“To our elders who have passed down
wisdom and values, To our leaders who
have championed progress, To our youth
who carry the future with passion and pride,
To our women whose strength and
resilience fortify every home, And to every
friend and partner who has stood with us.”

Also speaking, the Chairman, ODU, Education
and Culture Committee, Comr. Alao Micheal
Oloruntoba said the festival is a celebration of
womanhood, defined by cultural norms of the
Ogori Community.

“I salute all the mothers here because it is
not a mean task policing daughters,
especially the new era daughters, to live a
responsible morally clean life in readiness
for marriage life," she stated.

Among the family whose virgin daughters were
initiated includes Isovie Akeredola the daughter
of Maj. Gen. Erema Akeredola, Omolola Blessing
Osheidu the daughter of Professor Olugbemiro
Akeredola and also Tosiron Jegede and five
other daughters of Professor Olugbemiro Jegede the pioneer Vice Chancellor of Open University.

PoliticsPeter Obi Condemns Arrest Of VDM by ExAngel007(op): 4:39pm On May 04, 2025
The oppression of young voices is a dangerous path that we must not normalize - Peter Obi condemns arrest of VDM

Politician and 2023 presidential candidate of the
Labour Party in the 2023 general elections, Peter
Obi, has condemned the manner in which social
critic, Martins Otse aka Very Dark Man, was
arrested last Friday, May 2.

In a post shared on his X handle, Obi stated that
the way VDM was picked up by the security
agents, said to be EFCC operatives, has left
many Nigerians unsettled.

He argued that the backlash the bank he was
picked up from has faced since his arrest will
further erode Nigeria's fragile investors' confidence. He opined that the oppression of
young voices, whether through force, patronage,
or intimidation, is a dangerous path that we must
not normalise.

His post reads

‘’The Recent developments in our nation continue to raise serious concerns about the direction we are headed as a democracy. The tension in the land aggravated by hardship is being needlessly fueled by our attitude to the rule of law and human rights.

The arrest of Martin Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), though perhaps within the legal rights of security agencies, was carried out in a manner that left many Nigerians unsettled.

The display of force, lacking in transparency and civility, closely resembled an abduction, a disturbing method that not only creates fear but also risks being mimicked by criminal elements. If Nigerians begin to struggle to
distinguish between legitimate arrests and unlawful abductions, we will lose a vital layer of national security and accountability.

This trend is not new. We must recall that even our esteemed judges, the last line of defence for justice, have suffered similar indignities in recent years. When those who interpret the law are treated with such
disregard, it is difficult to expect that ordinary
citizens will feel protected under the law.

Moreover, these methods are beginning to affect our economy and business environment. The backlash directed at GTBank, allegedly linked to the circumstances surrounding Mr. Otse’s arrest, has had
serious reputational consequences. At a time when investor confidence is already fragile, we must do all we can to avoid actions that tarnish institutions or undermine the trust of both citizens and the international community.

One cannot help but ask: was it impossible to invite Mr. Otse in a civil, transparent, and legal manner? Would that not have spared Nigerians, GTBank, and our national image the unnecessary shame and losses we now
witness? Similarly troubling are allegations surrounding
the so-called adoption of the NANS President If true, it raises critical questions about the independence of student leadership and the subtle erosion of young voices in our democracy. Nigeria’s youth should not feel
coerced, silenced, or absorbed into political agendas that do not reflect their will. The oppression of young voices, whether through force, patronage, or intimidation, is a dangerous path that we must not normalize.

We must return to a Nigeria where justice is done and is seen to be done without theatrics or abuse. A country where youth can speak freely, judges can serve with dignity, and institutions act responsibly. That is the
Nigeria we must rebuild.

A new Nigeria is POssible! –PO''

PoliticsLabour Demands Review Of N70,000 Minimum Wage To Ease Cost-of-living Crisis by ExAngel007(op): 3:51pm On May 01, 2025
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) leaders have called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's federal government to urgently review the N70,000 minimum wage as the country celebrates May Day 2025.

The cost of living has been astronomical since the removal of the petrol subsidy on May 29, 2023.

Labour leaders, in an interview with The PUNCH, said the Nigerian worker had been crippled by the high cost of prices and soaring inflation, which they added, made the N70,000 minimum wage inconsequential.

The Bayelsa State Chairman of the Trade Union Congress, Comrade Julius Laye, said the Nigerian worker was worse off under the President Bola Tinubu administration than ever before.

He listed several factors that had negatively impacted workers, which he said, made the new minimum wage grossly inadequate.

Laye said, “You know that the government introduced several taxes, and the hike in tariffs has impacted the workers negatively. The economic policies and the removal of subsidies have led to hyperinflation, so the minimum wage has become inadequate.

“Even the minimum wage is not enough to cover Medicare. Incidentally, they have money to fly out to seek better medical attention, but the Nigerian workers do not have the means to do so.

“We are worse off in this administration than we had ever been at any other time.”

In Ebonyi, the state Chairman of the NLC, Prof. Oguguo Egwu, and his TUC counterpart, Comrade Igwe Chidi, expressed displeasure over the continuous economic hardship faced by workers in the state.

They said Nigerian workers were looking forward to an adjustment of the National Minimum Wage Act, which provided a review every three years since the current N70,000 implemented byGovernor Francis Nwifuru was no longer enough to meet their needs.

Egwu, who disclosed the theme of this year’s Workers Day celebration as ‘Reclaiming a civic space amid economic hardship’, said the suffering in the country was unprecedented.

“It’s a day to celebrate our workers, it’s a day we honour our past heroes, those who have struggled for the workers in the world to emancipate them from the shackles of the leaders. The good thing about this year’s
celebration is that we will give awards to deserving Ebonyi workers who posted outstanding performances in service, while also maintaining the code of the civil service.

“We have the opportunity to bring veterans to educate them on the theme of this year’s celebration. The hardship in Nigeria, not just in Ebonyi State, is unprecedented. If you look into the face of a typical Nigerian worker, it is filled with wrinkles, darkened, deep and of course every face of a typical Nigerian worker tells the story of a multi-dimensional poverty.”

Chidi added, “Workers are facing differentchallenges. The economy is very harsh, not only on the workers but on Nigerians. The new minimum wage was just implemented in the state but it is no longer significant to the workers. If you go to the market, that N70, 000 cannot buy you anything.”

The Niger State Chairman, TUC, Ibrahim Gana, blamed the Federal Government for the pathetic state of workers, adding that the soaring inflation had destroyed the gains the little increase in the minimum wage brought to the workers.

“The situation of workers is pathetic. The electricity tariff, the pump price of petrol, the transportation and every other thing has taken all the minimum wage again. The multiplying effects of these are weighing on the workers.

It’s just as if we are not even working. You collect your salary as if you didn’t even get it and then coupled with all the hardship, all the inflation,” Gana said.

“We never knew the Federal Government could push up the cost of living like this. You can’t afford three meals a day, you can’t take a bag of rice home, and you can’t do anything with the money. So, that is where we are as workers.

That is the sorry situation we find ourselves in,” Gana said.

On who to blame, he added, “Who else is the head of the ruling government, which is responsible for these problems? Who do you want us to blame? It is the Tunubu government.

If they had the workers’ interest at heart, they would have done something about the devaluation of the naira.”

Lagos State Chairman of the NLC, Funmi Sessi, also expressed deep concern over the rising cost of living, deteriorating public services, and the lack of effective government action.

“This year, we have witnessed hardship in the civic space like never before. “Are we talking about accommodation, transportation, healthcare, education, or even feeding? Prices keep rising, and nothing is being done to ease the pain,” she said.

Ogun state TUC boss Akeem Lasisi also added that there was “little to celebrate” despite the approved N70,000 minimum wage last year.

PoliticsPoverty Isn’t A Crime. It Could Be A Virtue Of God - Godswill Akpabio by ExAngel007(op): 11:47pm On Apr 28, 2025
Poverty isn’t a crime. It could be a virtue of God - Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, says as he reflects on the life of late Pope Francis

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has said that poverty is not a crime and that it can sometimes be considered as a virtue.

Akpabio stated this while speaking from Rome after attending the funeral of Pope Francis.

“When you look at the Catholic Church, the Catholic Church is not just a church. The Vatican is also regarded as a state. You have the head of state that d!ed and was buried today... heading over 1.5 billion people around the world.

You have a man who d!ed as a man today, the Pope, who was worth only $100, showing that we cannot worship God in splendour.

The best way to worship God is through self-sacrifice for others," he said.

He went on to say

The message is very clear that Nigerians should love one another. Poverty is not a crime and that poverty could sometimes be a virtue, a virtue of God. Whatever you have, you should be able to share with your brothers and sisters, especially during this Easter period,”

Kate Henshaw has corrected the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) over a grammatical error on X.

The examination board made the mistake while responding to politician Peter Obi's claim that young admissions seeker were made to leave home in the dark to write the university entrance exams as early as 6:00am.

Responding via its official X account, JAMB wrote partly : "@PeterObi, Your Excellency,

PoliticsUK Tories Consider Replacing Kemi Badenoch As Party Leader After Poor Ratings by ExAngel007(op): 1:37pm On Apr 27, 2025
Six months after Kemi Badenoch was elected
leader of the UK Conservative Party, internal
discussions have already shifted toward the
possibility of replacing her.

https://d187goyob322lh.cloudfront.net/Pictures/480xAny/1/5/6/39156_2kdpx0n_631991.jpg

With local elections in England approaching,
many Conservative MPs and officials are
increasingly dissatisfied with Badenoch’s
leadership and have expressed concerns that
she is not the right person to lead the party into
the next general election, scheduled for 2029.

According to more than two dozen sources who
spoke to Bloomberg on the condition of
anonymity, there is growing support within the
party to replace Badenoch with Robert Jenrick,
the right-wing shadow justice secretary.

The discontent comes amid low polling numbers
for the Tories and the perception that Badenoch,
who became leader on November 2, 2024,has
failed to address key issues, leaving the party
vulnerable to challenges from Nigel Farage’s
Reform Party. Badenoch’s spokesperson
declined to comment on the situation, while
Jenrick’s spokesperson pointed to an interview in which he expressed support for Badenoch’s
leadership, suggesting people should give her
time.

The situation is expected to worsen with the
upcoming local elections, where the
Conservatives are predicted to lose a significant
number of seats. The Tories’ performance in
these elections is crucial, as they are seen as an
early indicator of the party's standing ahead of
the general election. In the last local election in
2021, the Conservatives won nearly half the
races, bolstered by then-Prime Minister Boris
Johnson’s successful COVID-19 vaccine rollout.

However, since then, the party’s popularity has
plummeted, and they are now facing their worst-ever performance.

Political analysts predict a "total wipe-out" for
the Conservatives in the upcoming elections, with Rob Ford, a professor of political science at the University of Manchester, calling it a "total and unmitigated disaster." After briefly overtaking Labour in polls late last year, the Conservatives have fallen more than five percentage points behind both Labour and Reform, with the latter now emerging as a strong challenger on the right.

There had been an assumption that Badenoch
would have until the summer of 2026 to prove
herself, but some in the party now believe her
leadership may be challenged sooner. A senior
party figure described her as having entered the
"political death zone," with her future becoming a major topic of discussion among MPs and donors.

Badenoch inherited a difficult task when she
succeeded Rishi Sunak in November 2023
following the Tories' defeat in the general
election, which saw Labour secure a historic
landslide victory. While some defend Badenoch,
arguing that rebuilding the party after such a
heavy loss takes time, frustration is growing.
Critics claim she has focused on issues like net-zero policies and transgender rights, which they argue do not resonate with voter priorities like crime and immigration.

Badenoch’s performances at prime minister's
questions have also drawn criticism. Her
attempts to challenge Labour leader Keir Starmer have been seen as ineffective, with Starmer often turning her attacks back on the Conservatives' own record. Meanwhile, Farage’s Reform Party has been steadily gaining ground, further complicating Badenoch’s position. Some MPs argue that she is too right-wing to appeal to centrist voters but not right-wing enough to
compete with Farage’s populist appeal.

Jenrick, who has built a strong following on the
Conservative right, is increasingly seen as a
potential replacement. He has gained attention
for his high-profile campaigns on crime and
national sovereignty, and a recent poll found that he had a much higher satisfaction rating among Conservative members than Badenoch.

However, some centrist Tories are concerned that Jenrick would push the party further to the right, potentially alienating voters in the center.

The situation remains fluid, with party figures
divided on whether a leadership change would
help the Conservatives recover or further alienate voters. Ultimately, the local election results will be pivotal in determining Badenoch’s future, with political analysts suggesting that if the media narrative shifts toward Farage’s rise rather than the Tories' collapse, she may be able to maintain her leadership.

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, the pastor of Christ
Embassy, has blamed the Covid-19 vaccine for
the de@th of Pope Francis.

Oyakhilome said that when the coronavirus
vaccines came out, Pope Francis was one of
those who encouraged people to take the
vaccine and he also took it to serve as an
example.

The pastor, who has made no secret his distrust
for the Covid-19 vaccine, added that he was
against the pontiff's stance on taking the
vaccine.

He stated that since the Pope took the vaccine,
he has been sick and in and out of hospital.

Bashir Ahmad, a former presidential aide, has
accused Nigerian Christians of launching a
propaganda campaign against Muslims.

Ahmad, who was the Digital Media Aide to
former President Muhammadu Buhari, made the
accusation on X while reacting to a post made
by Global Christian Relief, an NGO, "meeting the
needs of persecuted Christians around the world"

Global Christians Relief had shared a photo of
bodies set for burial and tagged it: "The Christian community is being massacred in Nigeria. This is a story that desperately needs more attention."

Reacting, Ahmad claimed the photo shared
actually depicts massacred muslim victims.
Bashir Ahmad wrote: "This propaganda against
Muslims has reached an alarming and disturbing level. They now shamelessly use images of massacred Muslim victims to falsely portray them as Christians killed by Muslims. What kind of injustice is that? How low must one go to twist the truth and exploit the pain of innocent victims to push such a dangerous and divisive narrative?

"This deliberate attack on truth must be called
out and condemned by all people of
conscience."

Foreign AffairsDonald Trump Takes Aim At His Opponents In Easter Message Filled With Vitriol by ExAngel007(op): 11:20am On Apr 21, 2025
President Donald Trump's Easter message
focused less on the Christian holiday and more
on attacking political rivals, including former
President Joe Biden and judges, over
immigration policy.

Minutes after sharing a more traditional Easter
message on Truth Social, saying he and first lady Melania Trump "would like to wish everyone a very Happy Easter," the president posted a
longer, grievance-filled message.

"Happy Easter to all, including the Radical Left
Lunatics who are fighting and scheming so hard
to bring Murderers, Drug Lords, Dangerous
Prisoners, the Mentally Insane, and well known
MS-13 Gang Members and Wife Beaters, back
into our Country," Mr. Trump said.

He went on to wish a happy Easter to the "WEAK
and INEFFECTIVE Judges and Law Enforcement
Officials who are allowing this sinister attack on
our Nation to continue."

The president continued, accusing "Sleepy Joe
Biden" of purposefully allowing "Millions of
CRIMINALS to enter our Country, totally unvetted
and unchecked, through an Open Borders Policy
that will go down in history as the single most
calamitous act ever perpetrated upon America."

"He was, by far, our WORST and most
Incompetent President, a man who had
absolutely no idea what he was doing," Mr.
Trump said.

To Biden, and all those whom the president
claimed "CHEATED in the 2020 Presidential
Election in order to get this highly destructive
slowpoke Elected," he added that "I wish you, with
great love, sincerity, and affection, a very Happy
Easter!!!"

A former Kenyan Deputy Governor, Caleb Amaswache, is now hawking firewood in Luanda town to earn a living and pay his bills.

The ex-Vihiga County Deputy Governor served under former county boss, Moses Akaranga. Citizen TV caught up with him in Luanda doing his usual business of supplying firewood to various hotels.

He pointed out how life has not been a walk in the park after leaving office, a situation he described as undeserving after serving as a deputy governor.

He added that he could not afford to pay for his bills, including catering for his children's education.

"I need a job. I'm asking His Excellency William Ruto to consider those who were in government at one given time. We are all Kenyans and the President should take care of all of us," he remarked.

"I don't have enough capital. I have a daughter who's going to school and I need Ksh.200,000 for a start."

All he is left with are portraits of him and senior government officials who mingled with him during his heyday.

This reflects what he went through both during his time in power and after losing it.

Amaswache pointed out that his past attempts to apply for jobs were in vain, citing that his application was not shortlisted in the ongoing Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Commissioner interviews.

He cautioned current leaders to respect others, highlighting that power is transient.

"My advice to those in power is to respect and protect those who previously served in office.

Today you could be in office, tomorrow you could not," he added.

“When you're in power, everything looks flashy, everyone respects you, but when you are out of power, that's when you discover the true reflection of things. People will not pick up your calls because they don't need you.”

CrimeChidinma Ojukwu Tells Court How She Found Super TV CEO, Michael Usifo Dead by ExAngel007(op): 9:20pm On Apr 17, 2025
Chidinma Ojukwu, the prime suspect in the m#rder of Super TV CEO, Michael Usifo Ataga, today, April 17, recounted how she discovered Ataga's lifeless body in a short-let apartment in Lekki on June 15, 2021.

Testifying before Justice Yetunde Adesanya of a Lagos High Court sitting at Tafawa Balewa Square, the former 300-level Mass Communication student of the University of Lagos said she had returned from buying food and juice, knocked repeatedly without getting a response, then pushed the door open, only to find blood on the floor and Ataga lying motionless in a pool of blood.

“I dropped everything and rushed to him,” she recalled emotionally, adding that his eyes were half-shut and there was no pulse.

Led in evidence by her counsel, Mr. Onwuka Egwu, Chidinma recounted her relationship with Ataga, which began in November 2020. Chidinma mentioned that they met through a mutual friend, Fiyin, who was dating Ataga’s friend, James. She described Ataga as kind and supportive, claiming he paid her school fees and helped finance her cosmetics business.

According to her, Ataga who hails from Edo State and was residing in Victoria Garden City, had three children with his estranged wife based in Abuja. She told the court that on June 13, 2021, Ataga informed her of his upcoming birthday and invited her to spend time with him before travelling to Abuja for a family gathering.

“Due to ongoing renovations at his VGC residence, he suggested booking a hotel or short-let apartment in Lekki, where he had scheduled meetings,” she said

Chidinma stated that she found a short-let apartment at 19 Adewale Street, off Ologolo Road, Lekki, which Ataga approved. According to her, they met there that evening, went out to eat at Ango Villa restaurant, bought wine, and returned to the apartment to eat, drink, and smoke.

She told the court that on June 14, they woke up late and Ataga allegedly asked her to contact her supplier for ‘loud’ (cannabis) and rohypnol. She said he sent N15,000 for that and later N25,000 for food. She was out for about two hours buying meals due to COVID-related restrictions and delays. She mentioned that on June 15, Ataga requested more cannabis but asked her to pay since he was unable to transfer funds.

He also gave her money for food and juice. After a delay caused by a mix-up over the okro soup she was asked to buy, she returned to the apartment — only to be met with a horrifying scene.

“I saw blood stains, pushed the door open, and saw Michael on the floor, covered in blood. I checked for a pulse — there was none.”

In panic, she said she cleaned blood off herself, changed clothes, and packed her belongings, including a brown envelope containing Ataga’s bank statements, ID cards, and documents belonging to one Mary Johnson. She also took some jewellery before leaving the apartment in a cab.

The case was adjourned till April 28, 2025, for the continuation of the trial.

PoliticsNigeria Loses $2bn Annually To Medical Tourism — FG by ExAngel007(op): 1:32pm On Apr 16, 2025
LAGOS —COORDINATING Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Ali Pate, has said Nigeria loses about $2 billion yearly to medical tourism, saying the country must build health sovereignty and not rely on foreign care.

Pate said the lack of confidence in local healthcare and the citizenry’s inability to access quality health partly contributed to the figure.

Pate, represented by the Chief Medical Director of Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH, Wasiu Adeyemo, stated this during the commissioning of Avon Medical Centre, a 50-bed speciality hospital in Surulere, Lagos.

However, he expressed optimism that Avon Medical Centre, among others, would reverse the trend, saying the government was also committed to revitalising the health sector through the Nigeria Health Sector Renewal Investment Initiative and the 2024-2027 Health Sector Strategic Blueprint.

His words: “This is not just about stopping medical tourism. It is about building health sovereignty, the ability of a country to care for its people, and develop its institutions, talent, and innovation.
“The government stands ready to co-create pathways for private-sector engagement, be it through health insurance expansion, regulatory reform, or partnerships with national health programmes. We welcome Avon Medical and all new private providers to come alongside us as partners in building a healthier, safer, and more equitable Nigeria.”

Also speaking at the event, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State called for collaboration between the public and private sectors, saying the government could not solve healthcare challenges alone.

He said: “But we must create the enabling environment for private equity and investment to thrive. That said, Avon Medical, I dare say, has etched its name in the sands of time in this industry—not only in Lagos but in Nigeria as a whole.”
Earlier in her remarks, the Chairperson of Avon Healthcare Limited, Awele Elumelu, lamented that the lack of doctors, beds and equipment puts Nigeria’s healthcare system under pressure.
Elumelu said: “In 2009, we took the bold step to make world-class healthcare accessible and affordable to all, not just the privileged few. That decision birthed Avon Medical and Avon HMO. Africa carries over 20 per cent of the global disease burden, yet has only one per cent of healthcare resources.

“In Nigeria, the lack of doctors, beds, and equipment puts our system under pressure. What we are building is a healthcare system that leaves no one behind. We believe in Afri-capitalism—that the private sector has a responsibility not just to generate profit but to create lasting impact.”

Trans woman drowned in ravine as people filmed her and told others 'don't help her' (video)

A trans woman drowned while people filmed and refused to save her because of her gender identity.

Sara Millerey González was r@ped, had her arms and legs broken before being thrown into Colombian river, according to Amnesty International.

On April 4, her body was found in the La García ravine that winds through the Playa Rica neighbourhood of Bella.

Officials believe she was beaten by locals, possibly with ties to criminal gangs.

At about 3pm, Sara’s mother, Sandra Borja, received a phone call from her sister telling her that her daughter was drowning in a creek.

She found Sara clinging to a branch, the muddy waters of the river crashing against her back.

https://alexis.lindaikejisblog.com/photos/shares/FB_IMG_1744744793216_1744745186.jpg

Rather than help, a group of locals were filming her plead for help on their phones.

Those filming told passersby not to help Sara, a relative told El Colombiano.

"There were some guys standing there, also with their cell phones recording what was happening to her, and they said not to help her," they recalled.

"So there was fear of intervening for fear of being shot. It was necessary for the police to intervene."

The video of Sara drowning went viral on social media.

The clip appeared to show someone in knee-high muddy water, her face visibly wounded, flailing around and unable to move their arms.

"My first reaction was to throw myself into the river," the victim's mother, Sandra, told EL PAÍS.

"I shouted to her: 'Sweetheart, sweetheart, hold tight, hold on to that branch!'"

"Mum, I’m going to die," Sara told Sandra.

Sara was rescued by firefighters who took her to La María Hospital in central Bello, but she d!ed the following day, having developed hyperthermia. Her lungs were punctured and she suffered two cardiac arrests.

https://alexis.lindaikejisblog.com/photos/shares/FB_IMG_1744744866723_1744745237.jpg

She was 32. Dozens attended her funeral on April 8.

The government has offered 50 million pesos (about £8,800) for information about Sara’s de@
th.

President Gustavo Petro described Sara’s de@th as "fascism".

"I’m criticised for speaking about Nazism. I know perfectly well that fascism is the violent elimination of human differences: political, religious, ethnic, sexual freedom," he posted on X.

"What happened in Bello is called fascism, because there are Nazis in Colombia."

"She was the victim of an atrocious and hateful act," added Bello Mayor Lorena González Ospina on X.

https://alexis.lindaikejisblog.com/photos/shares/SEI_247636559-c244-e1744723706749_1744745218.jpg

Ospina said that the video of Sara fighting for her life going viral underscores the "indifference" some people have towards trans lives.

"We cannot allow transphobia to keep taking lives in silence," she said.
