Late Nollywood actor Ernest Asuzu's brother shot dead in Johannesburg; his South African ex-wife allegedly seizes corpse

A Nigerian national, Chinedu Stanley Asuzu, was brutally m8rdered by armed men in South Africa.

Chinedu, the brother of late Nollywood actor, Enerst Asuzu, was shot d3ad by the assailants at his residence in Johannesburg South on December 16, 2024.

The Nigerian Union South Africa (NUSA) confirmed the incident in a statement on Monday, December 22.

NUSA, in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Akindele Olunloyo, condemned the murder of the father of four, adding that the organisation is actively supporting the family and working with authorities.

According to the statement, the NUSA President-General, Hon. Smart Nwobi and the legal team discovered that divorce proceedings and asset division were underway between the deceased and his estranged South African wife.

“The NUSA President-General attempted to reach Mrs Busisiwe Sibanyoni, via telephone but was unsuccessful. A WhatsApp message was sent; however, she had not responded at the time of this report's compilation,” the statement read.

"A witness who was at the scene of the shooting incident was contacted and provided the investigating officer's details. NUSA's legal team followed up with the officer confirming that a murder investigation has been launched and remains active.

“NUSA's legal team is gathering information and liaising with the family,” the statement partly read.

"NUSA is providing comprehensive support to the bereaved family. We strongly condemn this act of violence and urge South African law enforcement to bring the perpetrators to justice. To our Nigerian community in South Africa: Stay safe, stay connected.”

Meanwhile, a Nigerian, Mr Ade, is calling the attention of Nigerians and the Nigerian embassy to the sad situation as his body has been seized by his ex wife.

In videos sighted by LIB, Ade said Chinedu was k!lled shortly after his wife, Busisiwe Sibanyoni, called him that she was coming over to his house to pick the kids despite it being the day the victim was supposed to spend with the children.

According to the victim gave Busiswe the kids and shortly after she left, the armed men stormed the victim’s home and gunned him down.

He further claimed that Chinedu and his wife were getting divorce because she was allegedly misusing his money.

According to him, Busisiwe has full access to Chinedu's finances and properties because everything the deceased owned was bought in her name.

He also claimed that Chinedu's money was lodged into her account because he wasn’t eligible to own an account due to him not having a residential permit at the time.

Ade called the attention of the Nigerian embassy and pleaded with the victim’s ex wife to return his body to avoid incurring spiritual wrath.

He also alleged that Busiswe’s friend sent him a DM telling him that she is refusing to return the victim’s body home because she is afraid his family will perform some sort of voodoo on the corpse so the victim can haunt whoever killed him.

Yoruba youths are expressing their displeasure over the inauguration of a Sharia Court in Oyo State.

A circular announcing the inauguration went viral on social media and the youths made it clear that they don't want Sharia Court, which is quite common in Northern Nigeria, to be inaugurated in the South West region of Nigeria.

Muslim supporters disagreed with them and told them their fears are unfounded because sharia law does not apply to non-Muslims.

However, the youths were not convinced.

The Federal Government has stated that the North West recorded the highest crime incidence in the country with the Southeast having the lowest.

The latest data compiled by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) is called Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey (CESPS), and according to a statement by Special Adviser to the President on Policy Communications, Daniel Bwala, the concept of reporting crime using data is President Bola Tinubu administration’s goal of running an all-inclusive data-driven socio-economic agenda.

The Presidency explained that the North West recorded the highest crime rate with 14 million cases followed by the North Central which stood at 8.8 million incidents. The South East had the lowest occurrence of household crimes with 6.1 million cases.

The data made available by the Presidential aide showed South West with 6.9m, South South – 7.7m, and North East – 7.9m respectively..

“However, it is instructive to state without
equivocation that the report released by the
NBS is a pointer to the several efforts of the
current administration in addressing the
security challenges ubiquitous in the country.
“Unlike what obtained in the preceding year
2023 where crime incidences were pronounced high and at a crescendo, the 2024 report largely revealed the synergy between all relevant security architectures of the country – including military and paramilitary agencies, not forgetting private sector collaborations fostered by the Renewed Hope administration of Mr. President.

“The Latin word speaks to this undeniable
fact – rep ipsa loquitor – facts speak for
itself.”

“the country has witnessed a drastic decline
in cases of incessant kidnapping in the South,
armed banditry, and cattle rustling in the
North, especially North West.

It is high time President Bola Tinubu called Shettima to order – Igboho says as he defends Kemi Badenoch

Yoruba Nation activist Chief Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho, has called on President Bola Tinubu to caution Vice President Kashim Shettima over what he described as unwarranted verbal attacks on Kemi Badenoch, leader of the British Conservative Party.

Igboho’s statement, released on Sunday, December 15, followed reports of Shettima’s criticism of Badenoch. The British politician recently commented on corruption in Nigeria while affirming her Yoruba heritage and distancing herself from Northern Nigeria.

In the statement personally signed by him, Igboho urged Shettima to focus on Nigeria's pressing issues instead of engaging in disputes.

“It is incumbent on President Bola Tinubu, who is also from the Yoruba ethnic nationality and lineage, to direct Shettima to face his duties as vice president rather than dissipate energy or engage in verbal war against Badenoch, who merely expressed her candid but true opinion on the pervasive corruption in Nigeria’s system,” Igboho said.

Drawing a comparison to the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari, Igboho noted the consequences faced by critics of the Fulani ethnic group during Buhari’s tenure.

“When the immediate past President Muhammadu Buhari was in power, nobody dared launch offensive or verbal attacks against his Fulani ethnic nationality without being dealt with or muzzled through the instrumentality of the state or paying the supreme price,” he stated.

Igboho also recounted the July 1, 2021 raid on his residence by security agents, which resulted in the deaths of two individuals and the arrest of 13 others. He attributed the raid to his agitation against the actions of Fulani herders during Buhari’s administration.

Criticizing the Federal Government’s inability to address critical issues like poverty, insecurity, and economic hardship, Igboho said “majority of Nigerians are currently being subjected to a harrowing experience, excruciating poverty due to harsh economic policies, and are bogged down by kidnapping and other forms of insecurity, but the Federal Government is still groping in the dark, finding solutions.”

He further questioned the backlash against Badenoch’s comments, defending her right to express her views. “When has it become a sin for someone to express his or her opinion or say the obvious about how corruption has retarded the growth of Nigeria as a nation or proclaiming her true identity as a member of the Yoruba ethnic group?” Igboho asked.

He concluded by urging Tinubu to redirect Shettima’s focus, stating "it is high time President Bola Tinubu called Shettima to order now to desist from needless verbal attacks and face his duties as the vice president of the country.”

Company shows concern for employees by asking if they are stressed then "fires" all those who answered "yes"

A company email has leaked and is going viral following claims that the organisation known as YesMadam has fired a number of employees after a survey was conducted.

YesMadam, a salon home service start-up, reportedly conducted a survey, asking employees who are stressed to indicate.

Those who indicated they were stressed were then sent an email telling them the company was parting ways with them.

As the email went viral, the company issued a clarification, saying they only gave the employees a break to rest.

"We sincerely apologize for any distress caused by recent social media posts suggesting we dismissed employees for being stressed.

"Let us be clear: We would never take such an inhuman step. Our team is like family, and their dedication, hard work, and passion are the foundation of all our successes.

"The social media posts were a planned effort to highlight the serious issue of workplace stress. And to those who shared angry comments or voiced strong opinions, we say Thank you," said the company in a statement it issued on Tuesday.

The statement continues: "Were YesMadam employees really fired for being stressed?

Absolutely not. Notifications. They weren't fired, they were given a break to reset. They weren't let go; they were encouraged to release their stress. They weren't laid off; they were offered a
chance to relax. They weren't sacked; they were urged to rest and recharge."

The email is going viral on LinkedIn as people discuss the work culture in India.

Many questioned why the company would use the words "parted ways" in their email if they were just giving the employees a break.

Lil Smart has gone on Instagram to allege that his record label members Naira Marley and Zinoleesky tried to k!ll him on Sunday, Dec. 8.

The singer claimed that Naira Marley and Zinoleesky "kidnapped" him and took him to a bush before sending their boys "INN and MMP" who then stripped him n@ked and tried to break his legs with stones.

He said he managed to escape and ran to the express road n@ked.

He shared a video of himself after the alleged ordeal. He had bruises on his legs, arms, and face, with blood coming out.

He also shared a video of Zinoleesky running, supposedly after him, on the express way.

He went on to claim that in 2019, he created the viral Tesumole dance for Naira Marley and now he wants to k!ll him.

He also shared a screenshot of a message alleging that the record label wants to do to him what they did to Mohbad.

He called the record label "Apayan (k!ller) record rebel".

Lil Smart said he has photo and video evidence to back his allegations.

This comes just one year after Mohbad, one of their former record label members, d!ed after allegedly suffering intimidation and harassment from members of the record label, with Nigerians pointing fingers at Naira Marley and Sam Larry.

A law graduate who had the best result in his set was awarded a prize that has shocked Nigerians.

Not only was the brilliant graduate the best student, he also had the best result in numerous courses.

Though he graduated in 2021, he just got his reward last week, on Nov. 25, 2024.

The entire sum he was given for being the best graduating student and the best in numerous subjects was N13,000.

Nigerians have reacted, stating that not only did the money come late, at a time when the value has diminished, but it also is not an encouraging prize for such feat.

A student teacher in Ogun State identified as Adeola Adeyemo, attempted suicide after a cane she was holding caused damage to an 11-year-old pupil's right eye.

The spokesperson of the State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the unfortunate incident to LIB on Tuesday, November 3, 2024.


According to the PPRO, Adeyemo, a 400-level student from Tai Solarin University, Ijebu Ode, who was on teaching practice at Owiwi Nursery and Primary School in Obada Oko, was addressing the class on Tuesday, December 2, when the pupil, Alao Idera, ran into the cane she was holding, injuring her right eye.


The child was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre in Abeokuta where she was operated on and the eye was removed.

The teacher was swiftly arrested following a complaint from the family of the pupil.

Odutola added that Adeyemo attempted to drink harmful substances upon hearing that her pupil lost her right eye.

"On December 2, 2024, around 3:00 PM, Ilesami Christiana, residing at Sabo, Abeokuta, reported that she received a phone call informing her that a teacher had injured her 11-year-old daughter, Alao Idera, in the right eye while she was attending school at Owiwi Nursery and Primary School in Obada Oko,” the PPRO stated.

"The child was immediately taken to the Federal Medical Centre in Abeokuta for treatment. Following this complaint, the teacher, Adeola Adeyemo, a 400-level student from Tai Solarin University in Ijebu Ode who was on teaching practice, was swiftly arrested and is currently being interrogated. Further updates will be provided

The children of the late Prof. Dora Akunyili and
Dr. Chike Akunyili have shared a heartfelt family

Prof. Dora Akunyili, a former Director General of
the National Agency for Food and Drug
Administration and Control (NAFDAC) and
Minister of Information, was renowned for her
unwavering commitment to public service,
transparency, and the fight against counterfeit
drugs in Nigeria. She passed away in 2014 after
battling cancer.

Dr. Chike Akunyili, her husband, was a respected physician and philanthropist who tragically lost his life in 2021 in a violent attack.
