If its Engineering then there is a better chance cos lecturers are scarce in this field and you will still need some strong legs after ur M.ENG or even a Ph.D in case you do not have a God-father. If its other discipline then just set ur sights on a Ph.D then you should be good. Just focus and he ready to go the long haul. That's how it is in Naija o.

Thanks for your rapid response. My discipline is COMPUTER SCIENCE. How do I go about to attaining a Ph.D, putting in consideration the 1) fact above in my first post?. I also learnt,though unconfirmed that,a lecturer aspirant must have a PGD in education these days.How valid is that? Thanks.

I want to get knowledge from the knowledgeable ones on this forum how one can pursue a lecturing job in a Nigerian university. Teaching is my passion and I want to pursue it full time on a high scale. But in ur answer, consider these facts along:
1) A 3rd class/ 2-2 degree
2) The school isn't one's alma-mater.
What are the prospects? What possible options are avilable? How do I go achieving this dream from 1st degree holder stage? I look forward to positive and viable contributions. Let's rub minds pls. God bless us all!

i also question d opinion of '100%' mandation or 'compulsoryRITY'(pardonn my words,pls) of completion of NYSC scheme as a criterion 4 PGD/Masters program in Nigeria Universities. but i don't know the schools that don't.Hence,resorting to NL.

darecool: Depending on your course of study and the certificate you have with you, there are lots of schools that doesn't request for discharge certificate.

kixo: To all d Batch B prospective corpers posted to Ogun state, u are welcome, am a Batch A corper, Ogun camp has all facilities on ground that includes a stadium, a big multipurpose hall, spacious hostel with good ventilation, portable water supply, neat bathroom and toilets, good cook(though I didn't eat camp food), the soldiers are very funny, down to earth,camp officials are friendly, u surely gona enjoy ur 21 days..I am currently serving @ Abeokuta, a private school. Pls try and participtate actively in some groups as it can influence where u r posted to.
Make sure u have ur fun, cox I had mine and awards/prizes to show 4 it...holla if u need more info

I got disappointed twice for the NYSC (batch A $ B 2013), currently I am awaiting batch C which of course I'm making it due to the fact that our result has been released $ everything has been done, the collection of the statement of result has started, but just as I am waiting for batch C like us all here, an opportunity just flew in for me that I should apply for a sailor in a fishing company $ they are calling on me to go for my international passport $ other requirements which they need, the salary is very good but I will have to spend most of my time sailing to other countries. Now I am contemplating whether to forgo the NYSC $ focus on this career? I don't know what to do. Please I need your advise.

meritdee: We all know that our first degree has become so useless like its nothing here in Naija in recent years. Without additional professional certification, its so difficult to get a good paying job which has pushed us to seek more knowledge on our different chosen career fields. For anyone who is interested, I'll be dropping to ur box some core ICT related examination dumps. E.g. MCITP, PMP and CCNA/CWNA.
