The race for the second place, the Vice-President’s position is on and heating up. As many as 20 names were bandied about yesterday in the nation’s capital, Nuhu Ribadu Theophilus Danjuma, and Yayale Ahmed, have emerged as early favourites to be appointed vice president as early as next week. Other names that were rumoured were Aminu Masari, Nasir El-Rufai, Aliyu Gusau, Adamu Aliero, Bukola Saraki, and Isa Yuguda. From the list of some contenders, whom would you advice the new President to choose as the next Vice President.? |
The BBC TV broadcasted the voice of Yar-adua 30 minutes ago, He sounds almost in pain. He said he hopes to return to Nigeria to his duties soon. It sounds like a telephone interview. |
I have flown with Emirates to many countries, They are the best for now, One intercontinental flight took about 16 hours in the air. It was so entertaining and very comfortable. Their hub in Dubai is also the best in the world. You can change your return flight or modify it within a year with no problem. The price is not on the cheap side but good service. I use them for Middle East, European and North American trips. |
stanloski:Stanloski have you lay your hands on the Glo-1 modem yet? Can you provide more info as regards the modem type or other termination devices. I hope it is not wireless modem like the Glo 3G Plus modem, a Huawei E160G showcased at the Lagos Trade Fair few days ago, or is it? Has anyone tried this modem outside Lagos Abuja and PH? If launching is end of year, now its 3 weeks to Xmas, Test run should be almost done. |
tomcat:Thanks "tomcat" for the update. It was reported yesterday in http://www.independentngonline.com/DailyIndependent/Article.aspx?id=3874 that Globacom is now set to launch its Glo Broad Access service, and it will allow subscribers to use the same dedicated Glo fixed line in their homes and offices for voice call, internet connection, video conferencing and cable television. Anyone has an idea when Glo fixed line will be available or is it available in some cities or area? |
Hello House, I salute AjanleKoko for starting this tread, You are doing a Good job empowering Nigerians, and Seun Nairaland for the platform. Please, Do anyone in this forum has a contact in Globacom for Glo-1 Cable Manager in-charge of commercializing the new Fibre-optic cable? |
goggs: toksdara:Today is Nov 10, 2009. Can "Toksdara" or someone with contact within Glo please findout when this Glo-1 will be commercialised?, How much for a 1Mbps drop in Lagos and/or 1Mbps drop in Ile-Ife on Glo fibrecable.? |
Sir Kay:I called the HiTV GM's Tel no above but it was a wrong number. Their office number listed online and on their brouchure is always busy. |
The website of NASRDA NigeriaSat-1 http://www.nasrda.gov.ng/ has not worked for many months. Do anyone knows an online link to NigeriaSat-1 imageries or email link to NASRDA staffs? |
leighcon:I tried to explored that about six months ago with Globacom IP and Fibreoptic Engineering Manager, I found out that Globacom connect to the outside world not by SAT-3 but by Satellite. Since the tension between Nitel and Globacom regarding control and access to SAT-3 came to a stand still. Globacom could not offer a direct Internet bandwidth from Europe to Nigeria thru fibre cable yet. They have been building and completed some fibreoptic cable link between some cities within Nigeria. They planned to lay fibre cable from Europe to Nigeria to compete with SAT-3 may be in few years from now. My recommendation is to get SAT-3 bandwidth from organizations connected to Nitel and that can offer you wholesale pricing. |
delarontus:Dealing with Nitel to secure access to SAT-3 or E1 telephone access is not an easy thing or a task for faint hearted, It take a long time, lots of running around, between Abuja and Lagos, dealing with Nitel Headquarters, Filling and submitting documents and NCC licenses, Chasing and pushing documents. It will cost you lots of money as well. If you can go through all this headache go ahead, 1Mbps full duplex will cost you a little bit under $7,000 plus connection fee of a bit under $4,000 per location My recommendation is to get SAT-3 bandwidth from organizations connected to Nitel and that can offer you wholesale pricing. |
