Incredible images from inside the ExCeL Centre show construction work to transform the exhibition centre into London's emergency coronavirus hospital is underway.

The ExCeL London Centre is being refitted to create thousands of new beds for COVID-19 sufferers, complete with oxygen, ventilators and other key equipment in the battle against the deadly virus.

The exhibition centre, in East London, will become the NHS Nightingale Hospital, creating an impressive 4,000 beds.

To me, this impact looks like that of a drone strike or a bomb or something dropped from above hitting the ground at around 100km/hr.

The last time New York took such drastic measures was after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, when the city medical examiner's office was tasked with identifying tens of thousands of body parts from the 2,753 people killed in the World Trade Center collapse.

The makeshift morgues signal the historic challenge posed by the national health crisis.

New York state, where 385 people have died from the virus, has more than 37,000 of the nation's more than 80,000 coronavirus cases.

"We have a pretty large capacity compared to hospitals," said Davis, adding that the trucks plus the mobile tents increase the morgue capacity to 3,500 to 3,600 bodies.

The Prime Minister said he had tested positive for the disease, after developing a cough and being advised by Chief Medical Officer Chris Whitty to get checked.

The 55-year-old insisted he has 'mild' symptoms', and will be continuing to lead the national response over video-conference.

A patient infected with coronavirus is carried on a stretcher by a French rescue team before being transferred by a helicopter of the civil security.

A patient is transferred in a high-speed train turned into an intensive care unit in Strasbourg on Thursday.


The train car, converted to a medical operations center, has stretchers attached to seats, the Telegraph reported.


Also the ambulance/are well equipped with ventilators.

France has turned a high-speed train into an intensive care unit to evacuate those infected with the coronavirus from overwhelmed hospitals in the outbreak’s epicenter.

The TGV train began transporting about 20 COVID-19 patients from Strasbourg, the capital city of the hard-hit Grand Est region, to less-strained hospitals in the Pays-de-la-Loire and other regions Thursday morning.

The government is calling the innovation a “first in Europe.”

Each of the biocontainment units has the capacity to fit medical equipment and two patients.



The very first CURA, which is being developed in an open-source, not-for-profit framework, is now being built in Milan, Italy, with the sponsorship of UniCredit.

These pods are easy to transport and can be deployed within hours.

They can be used individually or can be set up in various arrangements connected by an inflatable structure.

The creators of CURA got the brilliant idea to turn shipping containers into intensive care pods that will serve as wards for COVID-19 patients.

The project was designed by Italian architects Carlo Ratti and Italo Rota.


According to the creators, these 20-foot intermodal containers can be mounted as quickly as a hospital tent, but are as safe as the isolation ward due to biocontainment with negative pressure.

Currently, Italy is the world’s worst-hit country by the pandemic. Within the last 24 hours, 743 have passed away from Covid-19, bringing the death toll to a total of 6,820.

Over 3,000 people are left in critical condition with more and more of them arriving at the ICU every day.

The hospitals are overcrowded and doctors and nurses are run down from exhaustion. Unfortunately, the pandemic shows no signs of easing any time soon.

Recently, Italian architects designed a life-saving solution to increase the ICU capacity.


An international task force of designers, engineers, medical professionals, and military experts teamed up to create CURA, an open-source project aimed at capacity building in Intensive Care Units (ICU).

Their invention called CURA, allows turning shipping containers into portable intensive care pods.

One created using balloon dolls, that one created wizards.

Some guys can be just weird you know.

Two worlds.

Some are staying indoor with 24hrs electricity supply and emergency services operational.

They can easily place orders online or make calls if they run out of supplies (food/groceries/toiletries) or need medical attention with thousands of volunteers (delivery guys/health workers/police) responding.




Another world, citizens are scared of staying indoor, how are they going to survive indoors for a month.

No electricity, no money, no food.

If they run out of supplies or they need medical attention, who are they going to call

I see some people breaking out of the lockdown after 1-2months and breaking into various stores to survive. But i pray it won't get to that.
