Air travel with Delta took a big step forward in 1940 with the Douglas DC-3. It could hit 170mph, had room for 21 passengers and had a range of 500 miles. It revolutionized commercial aviation. By 1940, DC-3s carried 80 per cent of the world's airline traffic

Air speeds jumped in 1936 with the 190mph Lockheed Electra 10, Delta's first all-metal plane. It had capacity for 10 passengers and had 450 horse power, thanks to two Pratt & Whitney Wasp engines. It also had retractable wheels - which practically rendered it space-aged for the time. Passenger comforts included hat nets, window curtains, reading lamps and ashtrays. And with the Lockheed 10, Delta introduced its first onboard meal service box lunches and coffee, served by the co-pilot.

Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines is worth $37billion (£28billion) and flies to 370 destinations on six continents with state-of-the-art aircraft. But it started life as a crop-dusting outfit in 1924. And when it expanded to passenger transportation it used planes that could only hit 90mph, with the wind behind them. Delta has been on quite a journey, then and these fascinating pictures illustrate the carrier’s dramatic transformation over the decades. Pictured is a restored 1931 Curtiss-Wright 6B Sedan, first-ever passenger aircraft, the Travel Air S-6000-B, which flew Delta's first passengers on June 17, 1929. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/travel/travel_news/article-7022921/Fascinating-pictures-Delta-Air-Lines-transformation-10-decades.html

Jon Stanley, 61, a biker from way back, was at the end of his long battle with lung and brain cancer when his friends did something really special for him to fulfill his final wish. He missed the roar of his Harley/bike, the feel of the bike beneath him. He had one last wish, and that was to hear that roar again. After hearing of Jon’s dying wish, his brother in law Michael Smith reached out to biker David Thompson. Thompson helped to organize a collaborative event for bikers via social media and the results were incredible. David wrote in a Facebook post: “I was contacted this around 6:30 this morning by Mike Smith through Facebook and he informed me about Jon, you know he’s terminal, and he’s not looking really good, and one of his wishes was to hear a bunch of motorcycles out his window. “Sometimes a dying person’s last wish is just to hear the sound of a Harley in their window. This is Jon Stanley he has terminal cancer.' I know this is short notice but bikers take care of bikers! We will meet at Walmart on Ireland Rd at 6 pm and kickstands up at 6:30 tonight 6/12/2017 to ride out to Jon’s house to show him and his family some love and make some noise for him!” Before long, David’s Facebook post had been shared over 800 times. Within a few hours, dozens of people had contacted David wanting to lend their support in creating a special moment for Jon Stanley. All in all, over 100 bikers met at a local Walmart and rode out together to Jon’s place. Jon’s granddaughter Liliana Ramirez revealed that the surprise was all Jon ever wanted. “Knowing that all this happened for one man. All he ever wanted was him and his wife on that Harley.” Jon himself was too ill to sit his own Harley Davidson, but his fellow bikers ensured he was able to spend time with his wife on one of the bikes by sitting side-by-side. Over 100 bikes fired up their engines together at a time with amazing vibration. Jon passed away later that same night, in his wife's arms just hours after the event.

All of us know that a time will come for us to take our last breath and leave this human body, the people in this list decided to make their last hours wonderful by doing something they longed to do for a long time. We live as if there are countless days ahead. We fail to seize the moment and grab the opportunities to enjoy life to its fullest, do things that make our hearts sing, or express how we feel about the ones we cherish the most. It always seems that we will be able to do that 'later', when the only thing we really have is now. https://www.boredpanda.com/heartbreaking-last-wishes/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=organic Lalasticlala, Mynd44
