Students shared pictures of themselves hiding in a classroom after they were advised to stay where they were until police arrested the gunman.

At least 17 students at a Florida high school were killed after a gunman opened fire on them with an automatic rifle, in one of the deadliest school shootings on record in the US.

Officials said another 50 were injured at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in the small city of Parkland, around 45 miles north of Miami.

The suspect has been identified as 19-year-old former student Nikolas Cruz, who was arrested after a brief manhunt.

Mr Cruz had been expelled for “disciplinary reasons”, while teachers said they had previously been warned that he could pose a danger to the campus.


Just as classes were being sent home for the day, police say Mr Cruz began spraying bullets into the high school hallway.

Authorities said Mr Cruz carried “countless magazines” and an AR-15 rifle.



Florida senator Bill Nelson, who claimed to have been briefed by the FBI on the issue, said the shooter wore a gas mask and carried smoke grenades.

He also said that the fire alarm had been set off so that his victims would pour out into the hall.

At the penitentiary, Nassar (pictured, February 5) will be given prison clothing tagged with his name and registration number, 21504-040.

Inmates are responsible for making their beds, sweeping and mopping their cell floors 'and ensuring their cell is clean and sanitary,' the inmate admission and orientation handbook


Wake-up for all inmates is at 6am with headcounts held at midnight, 3am, 5am,4pm, and 10pm, according to the inmate admission and orientation handbook


The handbook says inmates can use computers but don't have internet access.


It's currently unknown if Nassar will share a cell or be put into protective custody to avoid possible violence from other prisoners.

Disgraced ex-Team USA doctor Larry Nassar got a private jet from Michigan to Arizona where he will begin his federal prison stint.

The 54-year-old doctor was seen being transported without a jacket and shackled on the snowy tarmac at Detroit Metro Wayne County Airport on Friday, as he was transported to the US Penitentiary Tucson.

The flight lasted four hours and 36 minutes, and the Federal Bureau of Prisons would not comment on if it is typical for a high-profile prisoner to fly private citing 'security reasons' that they don't comment on methods of transport.


By Saturday, Nassar was listed as an inmate at US Penitentiary Tucson.

A high-security facility that houses 1,387 inmates along with a 149-inmate minimum-security satellite camp in Pima County.

The mammoth Pingtan Strait Railroad Bridge connects Pingtan Island and its nearby islets to the mainland of Fujian Province.



According to stats provided by Chinese state media, the two-level structure is a whopping 11 kilometres long (6.8 miles) - 45 times longer than the Tower Bridge in London, or six times longer than the Brooklyn Bridge in New York.

To build the entire bridge, workers will need to use 300,000 tonnes of steel and 2,660,000 cement - enough for building eight Burj Khalifa towers in Dubai, the world's tallest skyscraper.

Set to have an eight-lane highway on the top and a high-speed railway at the bottom, the two-level structure would be the first railroad bridge in China built over the sea and is designed to support bullet trains travelling as fast as 200/kmh (124/mph).

The construction conditions, however, are unprecedentedly challenging.

Chinese workers are constructing an impressive railroad bridge in an area that has been considered a 'no-go zone' for bridge builders.


The £1.2 billion Pingtan Strait Railroad Bridge spans across the extremely rough sea off the coast of south-east China, a region that has apparently seen the mysterious disappearances of many jets and boats and is dubbed the 'Bermuda Triangle of Asia'.


Chinese engineers, who started on the project in 2013, are confident that they could complete the colossal traffic link next year. And not only that, they have planned to run high-speed trains above the notoriously choppy waters.






Not far from the bridge are Penghu Islands, a Taiwanese archipelago which sparked the Bermuda horror in 2008 after multiple commercial and military aircraft had mysteriously crashed, said an earlier report.

After 85 freight and passenger ships went missing in a small stretch near China in 2016, theories emerged suggesting the waters off southern China, Japan, Indonesia and the Philippines could be a new Bermuda Triangle, according to express.co.uk.

Despite all, the Chinese are determined to do the impossible.

In order to conquer the impossible maritime conditions, Chinese engineers designed a team of monster bridge-building machines for workers to construct the Pingtan bridge.
