United State Marine, Office of Naval Research (ONR) has revealed its first test of an autonomous helicopter. It is hoped the system will initially be used to resupply troops on the front line and could one day even take them into battle. The system consists of a sensor and software package that can be integrated into any manned or unmanned rotary-wing aircraft. It can detect and avoid obstacles (like buildings, trees, mountains, telephone wires, other vehicles or large ground objects) in unfavorable weather conditions, or to facilitate autonomous, unmanned flight. This capability will be an alternative to dangerous convoys or manned aircraft missions in all types of weather.

The US Army is testing a self-driving Humvee truck that it hopes will help soldiers who are trapped in dangerous situations on the battlefield. The Humvee, which is called the 'Wingman', is being tested to see if it can accurately identify and shoot targets. Mounted on top of the truck is a 50-caliber machine gun and an autonomousremote engagement system that communicates with the command and control vehicle stationed nearby. For example, the Humvee might be used alongside the Special Forces. If they're in a contested location, the soldiers might choose to send the Humvee into the situation instead of soldiers. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-5373793/US-Army-testing-self-driving-Humvee-shoot.html http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-5181067/US-Marines-test-self-flying-helicopter.html Lalasticlala, Mynd44

Refugees trying to flee hunger, inflation and the political crisis threatening to engulf the country. Many people are struggling to feed their families. According to Reuters, there were 162 lootings across Venezuela in January, including 42 robberies of trucks. Last month, eight people were killed in lootings. Venezuela has one of the world's highest murder rates and the attacks are pushing up food and transport costs. The truckers are not allowed to carry guns so have resorted to forming convoys to protect themselves. They text each other warnings about potential trouble spots and keep moving as fast as possible. More than 2,000 additional military officers will be deployed to control the hundreds of dirt-road crossings known as 'trochas' that dot Colombia's 1,370-mile (2,200-kilometer) border with Venezuela

Thousands of desperate Venezuelans are trying to enter Colombia in a bid to escape the hunger and soaring crime rate caused by the spiralling economic crisis. Incredible pictures show the mass exodus of refugees crossing the Simon Bolivar international bridge trying to flee the political crisis threatening to engulf Venezuela. Colombia along with its neighbour Brazil has sent extra soldiers to patrol their porous border with the country after officially taking in more than half a million migrants over the last six months of 2017. The country is also tightening its border controls in a bid to stem the flow. The dire economic conditions have led to lawlessness in parts of Venezuela's capital Caracas, with truck drivers subjected to 'Mad Max' violence as looters target heavy goods vehicles carrying food. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5374501/Mass-exodus-thousands-Venezuelans-flee-country.html Lalasticlala, Mynd44

The classic car experts were notified of the whereabouts of the cars after they were found ahead of the demolition of the deserted property where they were being kept. It was revealed in the show that the cars had all been sat untouched since 1991after the owner's trusted mechanic had passed away and he the locked down garage The red Cobra is equally as rare and has covered short of 20,000 miles in its lifetime. The two-seat Shelby was also the only one of the four cars that didn't have seized brakes, making it the easiest to load into a transporter to move to a secured location. All the vehicles were found to be covered by classic insurance provider Hagerty, which valued the Ferrari and Shelby at almost £3 million. Since the footage of the find was aired a fortnight ago, the owner has decided to keep the Morgan and Triumph but opted to let the pricier Ferrari and Shelby go to auction on March 9 as part of Gooding & Company's Amelia Island sale. The engines in both started up straight away, according to the finders, though the exhaust pipes scattered mouse droppings across the floor as the powerful motors kicked into life. Both cars will be serviced though it will be up to the new owners to recondition them and bring them back to life entirely which ultimately will see their values sky rocket further.

A collection of classic vehicles has been unearthed in a US garage that hasn't been accessed for 27 years and two of the '60s supercars located are worth a combined £2.8 million. A dust covered Ferrari 275 GTB and 427 Shelby Cobra were discovered in a storage unit beneath an abandoned house in North Carolina that was due to be bulldozed last month. Collectible car finders running the Barn Find Hunter YouTube channel sourced the untouched beauties though found mice had made themselves at home in the forgotten goldmine of motors. The cars haven't been touched since 1991 when the owner's mechanic died in that time mice and crickets have made themselves at home. The Ferrari is the pick of the two and has covered just 13,000 miles in 52 years. Finished in silver, it features a 3.3-litre V12 engine and in exceptional condition is worth around £2.2 million on today's market. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/money/cars/article-5372665/Ferrari-275-Shelby-Cobra-untouched-27-years-found.html Lalasticlala, Mynd44

The ceremony started with five children setting off on a quest to find peace, which has become the theme of the games. The children were accompanied on their quest by the White Tiger, one of the four guardian gods and protectors of peace. Alongside the huge puppets were spectacular light displays and thousands of dancers wearing traditional Korean costumes.

In China, buildings and structures can be knocked down in the blink of an eye no matter how big they are using explosives. But this bridge is situated amidst dozens of skyscrappers, using explosive can be dangerous because of the vibration. The major overpass was demolished in 8 hours after a local government dispatched more than 100 excavators to work together on the site, reports said. Demolition of the Overpass reportedly began at around 10pm and was completed by 5am the next morning. CCTV reports that the roadway was removed because of its narrowness the upswing in car ownership in China has made it hard for bridges to accommodate enough traffic. The overpass also needed to be demolished to make way for a new subway system. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B-n5xduCYrE http://www.businessinsider.com/chinese-demolition-jiangxi-2016-9?IR=T

“My husband and I married in 2012 and my mother-in-law always joked about beingour surrogate” “After a couple of our surrogate options did not work out, we started to take mymother-in-law more seriously”

Kayla Jones, 29 from Texarkana, Arkansas, just wanted to start a family with her husband Cody. Unfortunately she had undergone a partial hysterectomy aged just 17,which made her dream very difficult to realize. The solution was to find a surrogate mother. “My ovaries did not have to be removed so I am still able to have a child biologically mine, but I am unable to carry the child myself,” she told Love What Matters. “That’s why my husband and I had to use a surrogate.” Until her mother-in-law, 50-year-oldPatty Resecker, volunteered for the challenge. https://www.boredpanda.com/surrogate-mother-in-law-kayla-jones/?_e_pi_=7%2CPAGE_ID10%2C4483372723 Lalasticlala, Mynd44

'It's got temporary barriers around it now but the bin is still there. It looks like they're going to fix it, but they still haven't.' Catherine Jones, who spotted the bizarre bodge job on Friday, said: 'It's been there a while, but I couldn't say how long exactly.' There's been previous work done on the lights crossing recently because of another hole, but I noticed this because the bin was obviously in the road. One local was so concerned about the giant pothole they wedged a large blue bin in the 3ft deep crater.

The 3ft pothole could be the worst in the capital and has been there for a week. A huge crater in a busy road has been branded the worst pothole in the capital after a desperate local wedged a bin in it to warn drivers about the hazard. The 3ft hole was seen outside Deptford Green Secondary School in New Cross, south east London, several days ago, but has still not been fixed. The council appear to be aware of the hole because it has now been surrounded by bollards. One fuming local resident said: 'The hole is about a foot-and-a-half wide and looks like it's a couple of feet deep. https://stories.swns.com/news/giant-pothole-big-enough-swallow-bin-94265/?_e_pi_=7%2CPAGE_ID10%2C1182680159 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5363685/Crater-road-big-one-passer-stuffed-BIN-it.html?mrn_rm=als1 Lalasticlala, Mynd44
