Saw this movie last night, so touching. Based on a true life story. About Robert Edwin "Rob" Hall(14 January 1961 – 11 May 1996) was a New Zealand mountaineer best known for being the head guide of a 1996 Mount Everest expedition in which he, a fellow guide, and two clients perished. At the time of his death, Hall had just completed his 5th summit of Everest, more at that time than any other non-Sherpa mountaineer. But during descent with his clients, there was a storm. A best-selling account of the expedition has been dramatised in the 2015 film, Everest. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rob_Hall?_e_pi_=7%2CPAGE_ID10%2C4964177355 Lalasticlala please grace this thread with more views, everything written here is fact and real. Death toll has even increased. Just saw the movie yesterday and is a hit.

At the zoo, your girlfriend dropped her phone accidentally and she asked you retrieve it or forget about the relationship because you're not man enough.

At about 08:00 local time (00:00 GMT) on Thursday, Explosive Ordnance Disposal officers cut a large hole through the bomb's shell to burn off the explosive material inside. After the gunpowder in the bomb burned up, it was lifted off the site by crane. "Bomb disposal operations are dirty, difficult and dangerous. In this particular case, all three were true. "It was extremely dangerous for the officers engaged in the disposal operation." The entire operation lasted about 24 hours. All buildings in the area were eventually allowed to reopen by 11:00 local time, and roadblocks were lifted by noon.
|
An explosive expert said that the bomb is in a 'dangerous condition'. Police diverted traffic, while shops and offices in surrounding towers were shuttered for the rest of the day and ferry service at a nearby pier was halted. It's the second time in less than a week that a bomb has been unearthed at the site for the cross-harbor Shatin-Central commuter rail link. The area, a British colony at the time was occupied by Japanese forces between 1941 and 1945, and was the site of fierce fighting between the occupiers and British and Allied forces. Police from the explosive ordinance disposal unit defuse and hose down a the WWII-era bomb uncovered at the construction site.

Hong Kong police today sealed off part of a busy downtown neighborhood after an unexploded bomb was found during construction work in the Asian financial center. Around 4000 people were evacuated after the dangerous device, weighing some 500kg discovered by construction workers who are building the city's new £7,88 billion rail link. A police spokesman said explosive ordinance disposal officers were deployed to the scene in Wan Chai, the city's central business district. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5333833/Hong-Kong-bomb-experts-deployed-unexploded-bomb-found.html Lalasticlala, Mynd44

It is the third year in a row the strange phenomenon has struck Venice. Two years ago, water levels were reported as 28in below normal levels, curtailing transport by gondola or water taxi for days.
|
Unusual weather has left some of Venice's legendary canals dried out forcing gondolas to park up on dry land. Cold winter weather, low tides caused by the 'super blue blood moon' and little rain have caused the storied waterways to drop by up to 23in in some cases. Photographs taken this week have shown the Queen of the Adriatic looking a shadow of her normal self, with boats covered up and even languishing on the muddy bottoms of empty canals. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5339797/Venices-famous-canals-dry-low-tides.html Lalasticlala, Mynd44

BMW refueled a car while drifting. The stunt was part of an attempt to beat the longest drift in eight hours. BMW set the record in 2013 at 51.278 miles. They broke that record by 143 miles. Drifting a total of 232.5 miles. The cars are outfitted with larger gas tanks to break the drifting record. The rules also allow the car to stop and refuel. But BMW thought that was boring. BMW decided to refuel the car mid-drift. They pulled inspiration from fighter jets. They call the method car-to-car refueling. A custom fueling system was built for the stunt. The refueling car pumped 18 gallons of gas in 50 seconds. The biggest obstacle was connecting the fuel hose mid-drift. Unlike a fighter jet, they used a person to fuel the car. It took three people to complete the task. The refueler hung out of the car via a safety tether. There was a slim margin for error. They practiced the stunt multiple times before their record-breaking attempt. During the attempt, they refueled five times. BMW broke two Guinness World Records: 1. Longest Vehicle Drift in 8 hours 2. Longest Twin Vehicle Drift. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=obkLDeO58Wo http://www.pulse.ng/bi/lifestyle/lifestyle-bmw-refueled-a-car-air-force-style-while-drifting-id7888721.html Lalasticlala, Mynd44
