New Jersey Governor, Chris Christie's wife Mary Pat was pulled over on April 10 for driving with a cellphone in her hand during the state's crackdown on distracted drivers. Mary Pat Christie was stopped while driving with a cellphone in her hand on April 10 in Bernardsville by a police officer assigned to the grant-funded program that targeted texting and other distracted driving. She didn't identify herself as Republican Governor Chris Christie's wife. But she did tell the officer she wasn't making a call. The officer, identified as 27-year-old Timothy Richard, told her she could not have the phone in her hand while driving. Richard, who had just been sworn in three months earlier, had no idea he had pulled over the state's first lady until co-workers notified him later. The first lady appeared in Warren Township Municipal Court and pleaded guilty to a charge of operating a motor vehicle while using a cellphone. She was ordered to pay a fine of $250. WHAT MARY PAT CHRISTIE SAID DURING HER TRAFFIC STOP Officer Timothy Richards: Morning ma'am Mary Pat Christie: Hi officer, how are you? Officer: Good. Thank you, how ya doing today? The reason I stopped you was your cellphone at your steering wheel when you drove passed me. Christie: I wasn't making a phone call. Officer: You can't have it in your hand at all ma'am. I can't tell what you're doing when you do that and when it's in your hand you're looking down at it, it's against your steering wheel. How's your license? You have anything on it? Christie: Uh, no Officer: Ok, be back in a minute, alright? Here's your stuff back. Unfortunately I'm a grant detail for distracted driving so I have to write the ticket for the cell phone, OK? Christie: Oh yeah I know what - (unintelligible) Officer: There's a phone number on the back. Christie: So I can't actually (road noise)...you can write a ticket (unintelligible)... Officer: Ok Christie: I can't Officer: You can't have your phone in your hand at all. It has to be all, like, no-touch, through the radio in the car. It's up to the judge. Depends on what offense it is and how your license looks. Christie: So no...no.... what if you've like, a coffee in your hand? Officer: Technically according to the law if it's distracting you can't have coffee in your hand or anything else either. But it's cellphone distracted driver month so that's what Christie: Was I not looking at the road? Officer: You were looking down at your phone. You wanted to ask me with both your hands. I didn't know what you were doing I just saw the phone in your hand. Christie: I'm trying to follow the law Officer: Yeah, yeah, unfortunately wrong place, wrong time, right? Christie: Can you tell me, you know, the sentencing hearing? Officer: It's going to be a Bedminster judge, it's a shared court. Judge Howes. Christie: (Unintelligible) Officer: It's Somerset County. Yes ma'am. Alright,m have a better day, alright? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5042753/New-Jerseys-lady-ticketed-statewide-crackdown.html Thinking our leader can learn from here Lalasticlala, Mynd44

'These animals need counseling, because probably they have been influenced by gays who have gone to the national parks and behaved badly,' Dr Mutua told Nairobi News. The images were taken by London-based photographer Paul Goldstein during a trip to the Masai Mara. Mr Goldstein said he first observed the two lions standing side-by-side, before one lay down and was gently mounted by the other. 'Sometimes you just see something that takes your breath away. 'When lions mate it normally last a few seconds, these two were at it for over a minute and the obvious affection afterwards was very evident, as opposed to the violent withdrawal when male and female mate. 'Even as he dismounted he did not back off as is normal after mating, he crept round to the other male's muzzle, for a nuzzle and threw a conspiratorial wink his way.'

Images of a romantic encounter between two male lions in Kenya's Masai Mara has upset the country's 'moral police' who has blamed gay men visiting the national park for 'influencing' the animals' behaviour. Dr Ezekiel Mutua, who is responsible for TV and film censorship in Kenya, has called for the two lions in question to be caught and kept in isolation until scientists can 'determine how they acquired homosexual behaviour'. Despite the fact that homosexuality among lions has been observed for decades, Dr Mutua is convinced that the lions would either have spotted gay men having sex in front of them, or been possessed by demons. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5046653/Gay-lions-seen-Kenya-angers-country-s-moral-policeman.html

Alaska is still the most sexually-infected state in America. That is according to a comprehensive map of STIs across the United States, based on 2016 data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The map shows the rate of sexually-transmitted infections has rocketed nationally but the increase is skewed. While New Yorkers and Californians have the most sex, the Last Frontier as Alaska is known fields far more diagnoses of chlamydia, gonorrhea and syphilis per capita. The top 10 is rounded out by the southern states of Oklahoma, Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia, Arkansas and the Carolinas, as well as Delaware and New Mexico. But experts warn Maryland has seen the most dangerously rapid increasein diagnoses of gonorrhea and chlamydia in the last year, pushing it up from 24th place to 18th. http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/health-and-families/sti-map-america-us-sexual-diseases-state-worst-clean-alaska-a8031561.html http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-5036937/Do-live-one-sexually-diseased-states.html

Twitter users were confused as to what could have caused the brief account shutdown with some correctly speculating it was deleted by Twitter and others wondering if the President did it himself. Others simply rejoiced.
|
Twitter explained two hours later that it was one of its own employees that caused the outage and followed up their initial tweet explaining it was an employee on their last day.
|
President Donald Trump's Twitter account disappeared for 11 minutes on Thursday evening after a rogue employee at the social networking company deleted the entire profile. Shortly before 7 p.m. Thursday, social media reports surfaced that the president's personal account,@realdonaldtrumpwas unavailable, providing the error message that the user 'does not exist.' The account was unreachable for 11 minutes and was restored a short timelater. After a brief investigation Twitter owned up and took responsibility for the outage. In a tweeted statement, the company said Trump's account was 'inadvertently deactivated due to human error' by one of its employees. 'We are continuing to investigate and are taking steps to prevent this from happening again,' the statement continued. But in a second statement, Twitter confirmed it was an employee on their last day. 'Through our investigation we have learned that this was done by a Twitter customer support employee who did this on the employee's last day. We are conducting a full internal review.' http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5045031/Trump-s-Twitter-account-briefly-disappears.html Lalasticlala, Mynd44

In ancient Egypt, curses were placed on sacred objects and possessions to stop people, thieves, tomb raiders from disturbing them. The curse is what will happen to anyone who doesn’t heed the warning. The curse of the pharaohs will be cast on whoever disturbs the mummy or tomb of an ancient Egyptian. The curse doesn't care if you're a serious-minded archaeologist or an opportunistic thief and the spell is especially powerful if the mummy happens to be a pharaoh. Over the years, there have been numerous reports of cursed archaeological sites, where excavators and tomb robbers began to experience strange sensations, sudden illnesses, and even death after coming in contact with a mummy or an ancient Egyptian artifact. Curses were placed on tombs as safety measures. If the body, possessions,or burial place of the deceased was disturbed, then they wouldn't be guaranteed a peaceful afterlife. The first people to fear mummy’s were Arabs who conquered Egypt in 641. The Arab writer’s warned people never to tamper with the mummy’s or their tombs because they knew Egyptian’s practiced magic during the funeral ceremonies. Inside of a sacred tomb contained ancient writings and paintings that showed mummy’s could return to the living and seek revenge. The curse of the Pharaoh’s struck again with the opening of King Tut’s tomb in 1923, which launched the modern era of Egyptology. This is the most famous case because many people at the original opening of the tomb died before their time under weird conditions a short time after the opening. While working at the tomb Howard Carter, the lead of the project, sent a messenger to his house. On arrival, he heard a faint cry and saw Carter’s canary being eaten by a cobra, the sign of the Egyptian monarchy. The incident was reported by the New York Times in December of 1922. Out of the 26 people at the opening of the tomb six died from mysterious causes. Pictured is the 3,245-year-old unbroken seal that secured King Tutankhamun's Tomb when discovered by Howard Carter in 1922.

The Press Office of the Ministry of Antiquities shared the revelation on Instagram with a picture of the area, saying 'Opening the workers cemetery site at Giza Plateau to visit'. Experts with the Ministry have been working to restore and develop the site as part of a plan to open more archaeological sites to the public to boost tourism. The Giza Plateau Development Project includes the construction of a visitor's centre, administrative offices, and tourism and antiquities police centres. Paving all the roads around the plateau and those connecting the entrance gate to the exit is also part of the first phase. The newly opened area contains a cemetery of workers along with the graves of the supervisor of the royal palace, the supervisor of the construction workers and a man of significance who was buried with the workers. The site has been closed off since 1990. The pyramid, designed as a tomb of Pharaohs. The Great Pyramid contains three burial chambers that were intended to house Khufu and the litany of goods and treasures he would take with him in the afterlife. The Pyramid is estimated to have around 2,300,000 stone blocks that weigh from 2 to 30 tons each and there are even some blocks that weigh over 50 tons and the total weight of the Pyramid is estimated to be 6million tons. The base spans over 13 acres of land. Long thought to have been the work of thousands of slaves, but experts today believe 20,000-30,000 skilled laborers, including stone masons, engineers, architects, surveyors, builders, and other craftsmen, were conscripted to construct the Pyramid for over 20years. For over 3800years straight, it held the worlds largest and tallest man-made structure. The quarry at Aswan, about 525 miles upriver, was the site for the stone used to make the massive blocks that comprise the pyramid. How the 2.3million stone blocks weighing 2-50tons each were cut, shaped, polished, transported over 500miles through deserts&river to the construction site and placed upon each other still remains a mystery. Archaeologists in Egypt have reopened a 'cursed tomb' containing the remains of the people who built the Great Pyramid of Giza to visitors. It is the first time it has been opened to the public since its discovery almost 30 years ago. The area dates back 4,500 years and is located in the 'tribal mountain' area, near the Pyramid of Giza. THE REAL 'TOMB RAIDER CURSE' In his book Valley of the Golden Mummies, archaeologist Zahi Hawass says that the tombs of the builders of the Great Pyramid of Giza included the warning: 'All people who enter this tomb who will make evil against this tomb and destroy it, may the crocodile be against them in water, and snakes against them on land. 'May the hippopotamus be against them in water, the scorpion against them on land.' http://www.newsweek.com/ancient-egypt-tomb-cursed-giza-pyramid-workers-reopen-698463 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-5041033/Would-dare-visit-Cursed-tomb-reopened-public.html Lalasticlala, Mynd44

For Madagascans, the famadihana ceremony is an intense celebration accompanied by music, dancing and singing, fuelled by foods and alcoholic drinks. To limit the danger, rules enforced at the beginning of the outbreak dictates that plague victims cannot be buried in a tomb that can be reopened. Instead, their remains must be held in an anonymous mausoleum. But the local media has reported several cases of bodies being exhumed covertly. Despite the serious risks publicised by the authorities, few in Madagascar question the turning ceremonies and dismiss the advice.
|
People in Madagascar believe the ritual honours their dead relatives, who can be 'turned' every five, seven or nine years. Two women sit on the ground and hold the body of one of their ancestors as they take part in a funerary tradition. The unique custom, originating among communities that live in Madagascar's high plateaux, draws crowds every winter to honour the dead and to honour their mortal wishes. The ceremony sees the wrapped remains carried out into the open and carefully placed on a mat where they are rewrapped, or 'turned' in the new shrouds. Isabel Malala Razafindrakoto carries the wrapped body of her son, who died aged many years ago at age three.

ohgIn Madagascar, a sacred ritual sees families exhume the remains of dead relatives, rewrap them in fresh cloth and dance with the corpses. Willy Randriamarotia, the Madagascan health ministry's chief of staff, said: 'If a person dies of pneumonic plague and is then interred in a tomb that is subsequently opened for a Famadihana, the bacteria can still be transmitted and contaminate whoever handles the body.' It has been reported as many as 50 aid workers are believed to have been among the people infected, with two cities among those hit, including the capital Antananarivo. Experts warn the disease will spread rapidly in heavily populated areas.

Relatives exhuming and dancing with the dead bodies of their loved ones as part of an ancient ritual is fueling the spread of plague in Madagascar, officials claim. Madagascans have been urged to stop the Famadihana tradition, a practice that involves digging up dead relatives, wrapping them in fresh cloth and dancing with them before putting them back underground. Experts fear the ancient ritual has accelerated the spread of plague, which has now infected more than 1,300 people. It has prompted warnings in nine nearby countries - South Africa, Seychelles, La Reunion, Mozambique, Tanzania, Kenya, Ethiopia, Comoros and Mauritius. At least 93 deaths have been recorded, but UN estimates the toll may already be as high as 124. It is caused by the same bacteria that wiped out at least 50 million people in Europe in the 1300s. Officials are growing concerned as around two thirds of the cases are suspected to be pneumonic plague described as the 'deadliest and most rapid form of plague'. It is spread through coughing, sneezing or spitting and can kill within 24 hours. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-5038367/Why-deadly-airborne-plague-Madagascar-spreading.html Lalasticlala, Mynd44

Former Nigeria international, Peter Rufai has raised an alarm over his encounter with some security officials of the American Embassy in Lagos last week. According to the former Nigeria goalkeeper, he was returning from a party organised by a family member in the early hours of Tuesday, October 24 when he drove past a stationary American Embassy armoured SUV near Alaka bus stop, in Surulere area of Lagos. The moment I drove past them, they started pursuing me, from Alaka I went through under the stadium bridge through Adeniran Ogunsanya then to the Bode Thomas Police station where I stopped for my safety and to lay a complaint. “As they were pursuing me, they kept bashing the side of my car, like what we see in the movies. I became afraid of my life because I did not know who the occupants were.” “I want them to be punished for them to know that what they did was wrong,”Rufai said. According to police sources, the American Embassy officials accused Rufai of brushing them and when they flagged him down, he failed to stop. “That resulted in the chase.” the source said. The Public Relations Officer of the Bode Thomas Police Station, Olaride Famous Cole confirmed the incident to Vanguard saying, “there was a minor traffic matter involving Peter Rufai and officials of the Embassy but the Divisional Police Officer was ready to settle the two parties amicably. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/11/rufai-decries-american-embassy-officials-treatment/
