EPC Khafilat Kareem was a serving Metropolitan Police officer when she applied to be on the show in 2019. A misconduct hearing ruled PC Kareem should be given the written warning after gross misconduct was proven. She entered the Big Brother house in Lagos in June 2019 and lasted 77 days before being evicted. The misconduct panel, sitting at the Empress Building in west London, found PC Kareem had breached the standards of professional behaviour in relation to "orders and instructions" and "discreditable conduct". Following the panel's conclusion, Det Ch Supt Andy Day said: "Permission was refused for PC Kareem to appear on the Nigerian version of Big Brother as it was felt it was not in the best interest for either her or the Metropolitan Police Service to take part. "Despite this refusal, she went on the show anyway. "A detailed investigation was carried out by the Met's Directorate of Professional Standards which concluded PC Kareem should face gross misconduct proceedings. "Being a police officer means you must abide by the standards of professional behaviour. PC Kareem's behaviour clearly fell far short and she has been given a final written warning." PC Kareem had admitted one misconduct allegation of surrendering her work laptop to the producers of Big Brother, but had denied three other misconduct allegations. In June 2019, she requested unpaid leave to appear on the show. Although permission for the leave was granted, permission to take part in the show was not. Earlier this week, the tribunal heard PC Kareem contacted Deputy Assistant Commissioner Matt Twist on 30 June hours before she went on the programme to ask him to reverse the decision for her not to go on the programme. Mr Twist voiced concerns over PC Kareem's welfare, her conduct and the public image of a serving Met Police officer on a reality TV show. Her superior Ch Supt Jason Gwillim said the following day he became aware PC Kareem had entered the Big Brother house and was uncontactable until September. He told the hearing his concerns then shifted towards her welfare as the national media began to pick up on the story. |
Based on my observations and research, I can boldly say more than half of Nigerian youth smokes weed. Before listing the points to be used for the justification of this topic, I want you guys to know that this is just one man's research and observation and I stand to be opposed , corrected or probably ignored but I would like you to go through the short points before any comments. Thanks According to Nigeria constitution, a youth is someone or an individual between the age of 18 and 45 years old. Most of the individuals in this age range are cut across the countries labor market and also higher institutions in the country . Peer pressure in tertiary institutions(college of education, universities, polytechnics etc.) is at its summit. We have seen cases and read news online about how students indulge in all criminal activities like cybercrime and possession of hard drugs which include cannabis, and weed and how they are being arrested by the law enforcement agencies. Peer pressure is a menace is a menace that I do not see it's end soon among youths in the society, it makes you try things that does not really count just because you want to impress others. Nigeria entertainment industry is dominated by the youths. We've seen and watched how some popular artist, actors, musicians smoke in their music videos and movies. I won't mention any names here but I believe we all get a glimpse of what I'm saying. These entertainers are youth and they also play a major role in influencing other youths which are their fans to replicate such behaviors they portray in their videos There is this trending song with the lyrics "CANADIAN LOUD THE FEELING IS DIFFERENT" . No offense to the singer but I believe that says a lot. What's your take on this NAIRALANDERS |

Hello Nairalanders, so I went to this wedding ceremony few weeks ago and i experienced what I would say was the most funniest moment of my life. I wanted to share this earlier but I took my time to really think about the scenario over and over again. Ade, a friend and colleague of mine invited me to his cousin's wedding ceremony, this cousin happens to be a Pharmacist, he owns a very large pharmaceutical company and he is well to do. After spending some hours at this party,I discovered that there was no caterer nor was there even anything that was close to even resemble food. I was surprised but I kept my observation to myself. Normally, most wedding ceremony always have "MENU MENU" on the agenda list but I was shocked it was not on the list. With all this observations I still kept mute. Few minutes later, when the party was about to come to an end, I saw a neatly dressed man walking towards me carrying a box covered with a clothe branded with the pictures of the couple smiling. At last! I thought. I was salivating already thinking that it was time to eat after so much wait. The man got to my table and opened the box, the next thing I saw was two packets of PARACETAMOL....OH NO!! Lo and behold...I started having headache immediately What sort of invention is this? Nairanders, your thoughts pls |

Hello everyone, my name is not necessary, I am 28 years old and I am on the verge of losing my job but the important thing here is that sport betting is about to ruin my life and career and I need help and advise from you all. It all started when my friend Bolaji(not real name) introduced me to this popular sport betting platform last year which I strongly believe that 80% of Nigerian youths would know or even use on a regular basis. I started playing games on this platforms with the little money I made from side hustles,it was cool because I could still remember my first game; I staked #2000 on a match between Liverpool and a smaller club and I cashed out massively that weekend. I was so happy and all of a sudden I became greedy. I began to stake higher and started looking for higher and better odds to boost my winnings, I started staking with my salary and then it got worse that I started using my life savings to play games in which most time I don't win but still I won't back out hoping I would win back all my lost money in the next game ,I would even borrow money from my neighbors and friends as a matter of fact, I got a new name on the street: (BABA 2 ODDS) Last week, my boss gave me #150,000 to go and deposit at the bank but instead I transferred the money into my betting account wallet hoping I could double the money. I predicted realmadrid to win on last week champions league match against Chelsea, though they qualified for the next round but they still lost to Chelsea. I almost ran mad at the viewing centre. Anyways my boss has been calling me since and I couldn't pick because I don't know what to tell him..... Nairalanders I need your advise and help!!! |

You would choose these three ahead of a chronic and unrepentant gambler |
I was born or should I say I found myself in this mysterious location few decades ago. I had no idea or any previous experience of this place, I was hundred percent naive. The first few years I spent here seems nice maybe to the ten years old me. I care less or let's say I know nothing about the system of this location. I remember when I used to receive free gifts, when my parents would take me and my siblings out to enjoy ourselves and have fun during holidays, oh! Life was really fun back then. I could still recall when crying was my leverage to get what I want and what I don't. Gone are the days when you do some silly things without the fear of getting punished . I remember when I used to get basically most of the things I want at the right time. In short, Every bit of childhood was fun to me. Growing up, I used to think all these things I enjoyed would be forever,I thought every good things of life would come to me easily that I don't need to strive or struggle before I get what I want but I was wrong, the reality of this location was blurry to me those years. Sometimes I wish i could back to being a child and never grow up because being an adult in this location saddens my heart a lot. Nothing is sure in this location except problems I meant a lot of problems. When I was nine,I recalled asking my mother question a child growing up would likely ask his or her parents. I asked "Hey mom, will I enjoy all this goodies forever" and she replied "Son,you have so much to learn". To be honest I really don't understand what message she was saying. Well, I'm not that nine years old minor anymore I'm in the major leagues now. If I stand the chance of meeting my mother again,I would tell her "Hey mom I've learnt a lot and I'm still learning" even though it's mostly the hard way. This jungle has shown me it's true nature, you live everyday like it's going to be your last here,we all fight for our lives on a daily basis. You should believe me If I tell you this is no place for the weak ,it has and would always be a matter of survival of the fittest. Even the strong ones at the bottom of the food chain are at risk here. The most dangerous characteristic of this location is the ability to make you get accustomed to its ways . It will bring out the worse in you and make every other good thing in you recessive. No respect for human right in this habitat. Corruption, injustice, poverty,Tribalism, Religious conflicts, Political and economic instability,Bad governance,Greediness, cultism,Banditry, are the major stakeholders . The more questions you ask the more confused you get,you just have to comply because choice is not a thing in location-x. |
Can I still join this game? |
