– Cristian Galano received first-ever green card – Serie B president says that the cards are largely symbolic – Officials speak about the new card History was made in Italy this week as Vicenza attacker received Serie B’s first-ever green card Cristian Galano, the striker of Vicenza, was awarded for fair play as he admitted that no Virtus Entella defenders had touched the ball when referee Marco Mainardi had incorrectly called for a corner kick. Officials assured that the player with the most green cards at the end of the season will receive a reward. Serie B president Andrea Abodi said: “It’s a symbolic award. It could be something very simple. The important thing is to recognise it when a professional does something exemplary.” He added: “We think that football needs positive messages. This sport is too often embroiled in controversy that drives people away from the stadiums.”

– Though suspended from the House of Representatives, Abdulmumin Jibrin does not look like one to accept defeat – Jibrin has carried out another threat against some members of the House in a fresh petition to the EFCC The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has received a petition on how 50 members of the House of Representatives allegedly collected illegal allowances. The affected lawmakers include Speaker Yakubu Dogara; his deputy, Yusuf Lasun; the whip of the House, Alhassan Doguwa; minority leader Leo Ogor, Herman Hembe of the House committee on FCT, and Adams Jagaba. Others include Timothy Golu, Yunusa Abubakar, Mukaila Kazzim, Lynda Ikpeazu, Abdulrazak Namdas, and Nicholas Osai. The petition was sent to the anti-graft agency by Abdulmumin Jibrin, the member of the House who was suspended recently after blowing the whistle on alleged budget padding by principal officers. Premium Times quotes Jibrin as demanding a thorough investigation of the individuals as well as their prosecution, adding that the petition is the latest in a series of scandals revealed by the embattled lawmaker. Prior to the latest petition, Jibrin had written the lawmakers warning them to refund the alleged illegal allowances to the clerk of the National Assembly within three days or face the EFCC. Jibrin did not give details of the amount illegally received. The report said the 12 lawmakers indicted by Jibrin refused to speak when contacted on Thursday, October 6, 2016. Some of them said they would not want to dignify Jibrin. Spokesperson of the EFCC could not also confirm the lawmaker’s statement.

If your girl used to be sweet and calm and out of no where she’s the opposite of her usual self, she might just be sleeping with someone else. Suddenly, everything you do is wrong . She will argue all day when she’s with you, nag about how you act especially if you keep quiet and try to understand her plight. She will get offended if you are calm about it, she will rain hell if you stand your ground and argue with her. There’s no winning here, the real problem is, she’s seeing someone else and her conscience is eating her up. What other give-away signs do you notice? |
This is a no brainier. Only someone who has something to hide will make an effort to become very private. If your girl is sleeping out, she suddenly thinks you are prying too much into her personal affairs. She tells you stuff like “respect my boundaries‘. ” trust me, I am not cheating on you.” As a matter of fact, if she is giving you unsolicited confessions like: “I was out late because my friend was blah..blah” she’s probably lying and might just be sharing her national cake to the neighbourhood. 3. She becomes a nag

However, if it goes on for months, especially when there’s a lacking in the overall connection between you two, it might just be her subtle way of letting you know, you don’t do it for her anymore. 2. Always hiding her phone

Infidelity is common in most relationships. It takes discipline and respect for a man and a woman to be fully committed in a relationship without fishing else where. Sadly, only a few have the level of self-control needed to be faithful to one partner. Infidelity is common in most relationships. It takes discipline and respect for a man and a woman to be fully committed in a relationship without fishing else where. Sadly, only a few have the level of self-control needed to be faithful to one partner. They say it’s okay when a guy cheats on his woman; simply because, it is believed that most men are not monogamous in nature. He can sleep with hundreds of women but still be in love with his woman they say, but that notion is as immoral as a woman cheating on her man for whatever reason. Sometimes, women can take it to the extreme. Once a woman starts cheating, it’s worse than when a guy does it. The craziest part is trying to conceal it. Women are wired to be nurturing. When a woman is sleeping with someone outside of her relationship, it’s easy to tell. This is not to say all women cheat, but the ones that do always have a tell-tale sign and that’s what you want to watch out for. Read below signs that you are not your girl friend’s only boo. 1. She turns down your advances too often

– Nigeria must appear before ECOWAS Court insists the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) – IPOB says the Nigerian government cannot hide from the law – The pro-Biafra group says the Nigerian government cannot manipulate the Judges at ECOWAS appearing court, hence, the reason for not appearing No ploy by the All Progressives Congress (APC), led government of President Muhammadu Buhari will make it not to appear to defend itself in the Community Court of Justice, says the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). In a statement titled ‘APC Government can run but cannot hide from the law’ signed by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Mr Emma Powerful said: “He who brings home ants-ridden gays must be ready for the visit of lizards”. The statement added that “it is not enough arresting our leader and Director of Radio Biafra Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and charging him on frivolous allegations, but can they prove the allegations? When it matters most that they prove their allegations, they started running.” IPOB statement continued: “ECOWAS court is not a Nigerian court that they can manipulate. The Judges are not people to toss up and down. They are judges who can hold their own and now, the onus is on the Federal Government to come to the court and defend their allegations against the IPOB leader and not sending lawyers that will come and give flimsy reasons not to attend court sittings.” IPOB alleged that “one of the reasons APC led Nigerian government is running away from the case is because they earlier thought they can intimidate the Judges like they did when the matter first came up, but have found out that the Judges are men of honour.” Meanwhile, the Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign States of Biafra (MASSOB), has berated the Director General of the Voice of Nigeria, Mr Osita Okechukwu, over his recent comment that Biafra is no longer feasible, and urged him not be deceived as the actualization of an independent state of Biafra will soon be actualized. In an interview with Vanguard in Aba, a member of the Elders’ Council of Biafra Independent Movement, BIM, Comrade Larry Odinma, reminded the VON DG, that the struggle to actualize Biafra had gone past a stage where anybody or group no matter the status can abort it, adding that the people of the former Eastern Region are determined to liberate themselves from what he described as slavery and marginalization from the Nigerian government. Odinma warned that if there was a time Biafra wasn’t feasible, the current realities in Buhari’s administration has given much hope that Biafra’s actualization is a matter of time.

Editor’s note: Since the arrest of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu, his supporters launched a new protest movement in southeastern Nigeria calling for an independent state of Biafra. The author of the Vanguard in this opinion piece seeks to discuss a new book entitled: The Politics of Biafra and the Future of Nigeria, written by Chudi Offodile. The new book throws light on this phenomenon called “Biafra” and the future of Nigeria. You guessed it right: this article seeks to discuss a new book entitled: The Politics of Biafra and the Future of Nigeria, written by Chudi Offodile, a lawyer and former Honourable member of the House of Representatives who says he has retired from “electoral politics”. Offodile’s new book throws light on this phenomenon called “Biafra”. Most Nigerians don’t really understand what it is. Even those in the army of Eastern youth who swear it is either Biafra or death need to read this book to understand what they are asking for. Offodile strongly believes that there is a great dialectical nexus between understanding the politics of Biafra and forging a viable future for Nigeria. Who are the Biafrans? Many Nigerians think it refers to people of the South East geopolitical zone. Some think it refers to the Igbo ethnic group, but as Offodile’s analysis shows, the Igbo groups are found in the South East, Rivers and Delta states. Some groups in Delta and Rivers deny their Igboness and distance themselves from Biafra, though other non-Igbos see them for who they really are. For instance, when Dr. Peter Odili was running for president, Ijaw leader Chief Edwin Clark, said he was Igbo and unqualified to benefit from the South-South agitation for the presidency. When President Muhammadu Buhari appointed Dr. Ibe Kachikwu as the Minister of State for Petroleum and with Mr. Godwin Emefiele as the Governor of the Central Bank, CBN, he was satisfied that the “Igbos” were well accommodated in his government. But would Kachikwu, Emelfiele and Chibuike Amaechi openly admit being Igbos, let alone being classified as Biafrans? Yet, it was a coup led by Major Chukwuma Nzeogwu, an Igbo from today’s Delta, that led to the Biafra-Nigeria war. What a complex case this Igbo thing is! The Biafra issue is not easier to understand. Obviously, Biafra consisted of the old Eastern Region, made up of the Igbo and their Minority neighbours/cousins. But when General Yakubu Gowon created Rivers and Cross River States, most Minorities pulled out of Biafra to join the Federals in the fight against Biafra. Today’s Biafra agitators are looking at the former Eastern Region as their dream territory, but how many of the minority groups will willingly sign on for Biafra in a free and fair referendum? For that matter, how many Igbos will actually vote “Biafrexit”? So, Offodile observes (correctly) that even the Igbos of the South East are divided between the “Ojukwuist separatists” who want to pull out of an unfair, unjust and unworkable Nigeria and the “Zikist nationalists” who prefer to remain in a better Nigeria. Says he: “But given a choice between a more equitable Nigeria and a new Biafra, without doubt, a more equitable Nigeria would be the preferred choice of a greater majority of the Igbo”.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) in reaction to reports going round has stated that it does not use students’ checklist in determining applicants’ preferred schools. According to Economic Confidential a magazine, Unilorin had the highest student applicants of 103,238 (males – 51, 082 and females – 52, 156). The report said that academic stability, popularity, affordability, available facilities and quality of lecturers were factors students considered before choosing their preferred institutions. Fabian Benjamin, JAMB spokesperson, speaking to Premium Times on Tuesday, October 4, said the students’ checklist as outlined in the report was not determined by JAMB. Benjamin said: “JAMB has no way of determining these factors from information available to us through the frequency of schools chosen by Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) candidates.” “What we do each year, is to roll out data on the institutions with the highest number of applicants. For some years now, the University of Ilorin has been topping that chart, this does not mean that the school is the best in the country. It just shows students’ preferences.” Unilorin goes on Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) strike actions, a problem that plagues many federal universities in the country. Also, Unilorin was said to have one of the fastest academic calendars of all institutions in the country. However, in the 2016/2017 global ranking carried out by Times Higher Education (THE), University of Ibadan was the only Nigerian university that made the list at 801. Teaching, research citations of scholarly publications, industry income and international outlook were the factors for determining the ranking. Yet, for 2016, Unilorin surpassed the University of Ibadan in preferred student choices. As for the determinants earlier mentioned by Economic Confidential, Benjamin said JAMB was not in a position to know why students choose their institutions. University of Ilorin, University of Benin, Ahmadu Bello University, University of Nigeria, Nsukka and Bayero University, Kano were the most popular federal university choices for 2016 by magazine. Nasarawa State University, Imo State University, Kaduna State University, Delta State University and Adekunle Ajasin University were also the most popular state university choices for 2016. While the most popular private university choices for 2016 are Covenant University, Afe Babalola University, Babcock University, Igbinedion University and Bowen University.

Chapter 4 section 39 of the Nigerian constitution says that every person every person shall be entitled to freedom of expression including freedom to hold opinions and to receive and impact ideas and information without interference.” Ward called on President Muhammadu Buhari to release Kanu and also stop the violence again Biafra people.
