Music/RadioRe: M.i.'s Emancipation - Should Mode9 And Ruggedman Hang Their Boots? by EzE2(m): 5:37pm On Jun 01, 2009
rapjunkie:
I understand all that . . . . . . . .  .historic black boys/obama . . . . .  gives a damn/ saddam , but what is the relevance of adding the ' of us' in both lines if not to rhyme with octopus?

so i ask again . . . . . .  what does 'barack of us' and 'iraq of us' mean?
No disrespect but honestly, your asking this question again ultimately defeats the purpose of ur name as rapjunkie because if you need all these explanations for you to get these simple lines then u shud change ur name to rapnovice or something haba, lol

Im not going to waste anytime with the lyrics this time around, I going str8 to regular english expressions. If you don't get it afterwards, u r on your own

Example 1: A child does something out of character that is stupid and an adult wants to scold him/her, the adult says "That was so stupid of you" Notice that the sentence is singular because it is referring to just one child.  The adult could also have said "That was so stupid" but to connect the stupidity of the action to the child, he/she adds the of you

Example 2: A group of friends wrestle their friend out of the mouth of a lion, and someone was reporting on the character it took to do that, the person can say, "That was very brave of them" here again, u notice the plurality because it refers to more than one person

That is as far as Im going to go regarding those particular lyrics, I hope you get it now. safe
Music/RadioRe: M.i.'s Emancipation - Should Mode9 And Ruggedman Hang Their Boots? by EzE2(m): 6:03am On May 31, 2009
So Rapjunkie Im gonna try and explain this for u one last time

1.) We historic black boys so Barack of us
Barack Obama = Historic black man
So he is using Obama's first name Barack to qualify the characteristics of he and his camp as historic.

2.) And we don't giveS a damn (Saddam) so Iraq of us
There are two links in this line, first is to understand that Saddam is characterized as representing Iraq. And second is that Saddam/Iraq never gave a damn wat anyone else said. So where is he say "give[b]S a damn[/b]" it also reads out Saddam, and we have already established that Saddam never gave a damn and ran Iraq like he was the country. So here also Iraq qualifies the character of not giving a damn, get it??
Music/RadioRe: M.i.'s Emancipation - Should Mode9 And Ruggedman Hang Their Boots? by EzE2(m): 9:34pm On May 29, 2009
I have seen the comments here and I see a some MI bashers, it's ok not to like some1 but come on guys ease of on being negative, honestly I think MI intimidates all these pple that is why the best they can say is he bites lyrics, and point only to two lines from his mixtape.

In case you did not notice, the song u r referring to is Can't tell me nothing,  a track by Kanye who's mentor is Jay-Z, it's more than coincidence, I'll go over limb and say it is intentional, considering the track title is "can't tell me nothing" and he starts of addressing critics, go back and listen

As panalyst stated, in the midst of the MI bashing, y'all fail to see the classic lines that follow:

I guess im what rappers want to be and shit
I guess I rock their boats on some Aaliyah shit (Rest her soul)
Niggas run like diarrhoea and shit.
Houston there's a problem, it's a major bleep
You gonna need much more than a Lil' flip,

(for those who don't know, Lil' flip is amongst the first Houston rappers to become mainstream, hence the brilliance of that those lines)

and as for the lines Tosin posted

tosinaded@:
Rappers talking smack, I eight (ate) limbs like an octopus
We historic black boys, so Barack~of~us"
and we dont giveS a damn (SADAM) so IRAQ of us
Definitely u so-called hiphop heads who claim they are all over mode9's cipher and ish can't even understand somn right in ur faces so let me break it down for you wink

1.) Rappers talking smack, I ate (eight) limbs like an octopus
Ever heard the figurative expression, "rip ur limbs off/out" or "I'll eat you up" referring to destroying/murdering/defeating someone in a competitionhuh need I say morehuh

Now even literally an octopus wud so eat u up, thus he is saying he wud eat those rappers talking smack, still don't get ithuh

2.) We historic black boys so Barack of us
It baffles shocked me that pple don't get this one sha,  anyways, Barack Obama is historic as the first African American President of America, hence he is  saying he and his camp (Choc City, Loopy) are equally historic (30000 copies sold in 30 minutes shit, lol grin), so it's not there just cos it rhymes with Iraq

3.) And we don't giveS a damn (Saddam) so Iraq of us
In case you forgot, Saddam Hussein was the president of Iraq and he did not give a damn what the rest of the world said, he did wat he wanted to do when he wanted to do it, hope u get it now, cos I cannot dumb it down any further ooo

All ye MI bashes just picked the wrong song to go after sha, there are more correct lyrics in the song sef, but I'll not get into all of it cos this wud be long
Music/RadioRe: Review Of Hip Hop World Awards 2009! by EzE2(m): 7:34pm On May 29, 2009
it is my view that the lyrical about Mode 9 is vastly overrated. i see nothing deep in his lyrics (taking nothing away from them)and i find the rhymes often lame.
Thank you very much for that, I totally agree with you on that, Im not saying Mode9 is a bad rapper, but he is very very far from the hype he seems to get, there is nothing really lyrical about a bunch of metaphors/punchlines geared either to diss some1 or over hype oneself, I don't even think he can do well in spoken word, and from what I've heard from him, he would sweat just to write good poetry,

It is just amazing that this topic has been going on since 2005 till 2007, WOW,
Anyways, I am a fan of good music and Age makes excellent music. Heard Angelica sometime in 2003, and I loved it, initially, I thought it was foreign, simply because at that time, good music like that from a Nigerian was very rare. I have never heard any other song from him, but I'll love to hear more. Reading wat y'all are writing about his other songs is making me jumpy inside, I wonder why he was well promoted. He is the kinda artists we should put forth as our own in the international scene, I really need to get the album(s) to satisfy my longing and also to promote it the best way I can,

PoliticsThe Nigerian Future by EzE2(op): 5:02pm On Jul 25, 2006
Our country Nigeria is the giant of Africa!
The words quoted above are very easy to say, but in our lives today, how true is that?
I am not here to criticize anybody, I am just here to speak my mind, so pls do not misunderstand me. I am not present in Nigeria right now, and as such I spend a lot of time looking for things about Nigeria that would pls me - MUSIC. Just recently (as a matter of fact minutes ago) I came across a song by Eldee's song - "I go yarn " and it really got me thinking. Our political leaders claim to better our country, they claim to help our citizens, but yet our simplest problems they cannot solve. They travel far and wide, and witness the "goodness" of the developed world, still they return home and cannot implement the good things they see around. They claim they have hope for our country but it reality, they are the ones that have lost all the hope, that is why they want to accumulate the wealth and create a miniature of the developed world around themselves by building massive houses with the lastest of techy gadgets in these houses, vacations out of the country and all sorts. Ego is wat is killing Nigeria. We cannot necessarily change those who are in power now, but we can still change those who will be in power in the future - OURSELVES. We must all strive for the right motives. I feel really sad when I talk to my classmates and they say things like -- 'if I get into power, I will also chop the money' We need to stop this. I am utterly disappointed, but my hope is infinite. We (the youths, the next generation or watever u wanna call us) can make a difference.
Here is just a lil sometime I like to share.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant,
gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking
so that other people won't feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, as children do.
We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.
It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously
give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear,
our presence automatically liberates others.
I hope no one is confused by wat I am saying, this issue is so important to me, atimes I ramble my ideas just cos I am trying to write something that can make a book in a short quick post, but if u get my gist, pls think on it and lets all share.

It is definitely cool. I personally know the producer, and he is talented. Used to do some stuff 4 the plantation boiz back in the days. Plus Dare has a good voice, and the combination of a good voice and nice music is incredible. It is kinda like a naija R & B album.

Hey guys & girls, I made a commitment to get the lyrics to Djinee's song 'EGO' and I did my best to listen to the song and write down the lyrics. It is not 100% correct, there are some lines I did not catch properly, these are marked with an asterisk and the specific phrase or word is in square brackets. If anyone knows the correction to these lines pls correct them. Anyways, here is the lyrics, excuse my writing of pidgin, it is easier to just speak it

EGO

Verse 1

*If I die now I go [appreciate],
Say when I dey this world I don fall in love,
Which one u dey,
Wey u dey treat me so.
I don beg, I don do everything,
But u tell me say u need time and u no fit dey with me,
Na so I bad! anyway I dey go.

Chorus (2x)
Ewo if u help me see Ego
Make u tell am I don go
She no look and so
I don pack my load go

Verse 2

No be say I no show how I feel
No be say I neva show u say I dey real,
everybody don know say I fit do anything for u,
I go die for u.
Everybody dey laugh me cos them know u be my life,
*I don say I go marry, [causing] u as my wife.
Baby oo, I go take am for bus, I go take am for train
For this space I no fit stay

Chorus(2x)

huhBridgehuh
I know say u dey hear my voice
Cos this song na im I write for u
I dey go find one place where I go hide my head
Cos I once got my whole life on u

Chorus (4x) third time - bass voice enters and blends with the chorus

EWO
EGO
*[a gam mo]

EGO EGO

(chorus blends in here as he sings)
Why u do me so,
Why u do me like this oo
Why u do me so

I dey beg, I dey beg
I dey pack my load go

*If i die now I go [appreciate]
Say when I dey this world I don fall in, (fades)

I am really surprised that a discussion about Djinee has been goin on since last year. But I must say the guy is good. I just heard his song - "EGO" for the first time this year while I was back in naija, and I was really impressed at the level of naija music and entertainment artists. Every single person I have played the song for loves it, he is simply phenomenal. I have always wanted the lyrics, and apparently it is hard to find, so I am going to commit myself to learning the song word for word. Trust me to share as soon as I am done.
