essentialone1: Several University and Colleges in Canada, UK, USA, and Australia write it boldly on their Website. "We do not accept NECO".
You can say why not apply to those that accept NECO?
What if that one is the one that have the Course you desire, or has Tuition fees that suit your budget? Wow! I'm just hearing this for the first time. |

essentialone1: Do you know how many universities in USA, Canada, UK, and Australia that all reject NECO Certificate even if you get 9As in it?
Make enquiries or you will one day learn the hard way. How do you mean by this statement? I've a course mate that got fully funded scholarship in Rochester University, USA with his NECO result. Infact, he got straight - PhD program. Are you saying one can't get admission abroad with his NECO result ? Or NECO result isn't accepted abroad?, |

Education › Re: Contraceptive Implant: A Growing Moral Challenge Among Secondary School Girls by Fab21: 8:13pm On Aug 22, 2025 |
Kobojunkie: Back in the early to mid 90s, I met a pregnant 10-year-old girl when I went to spend vacation with an uncle of mine. Her mother was a full-time nurse and single mother who rarely had time to spend with her children since their dad was dead. Imagine the mother considering getting her child an abortion at that age? And in Nigeria at that?
Each child needs to be started as early as is necessary and healthy, and that is what parents are there for. You mean a 10- year old child got pregnant? |
Education › Re: Contraceptive Implant: A Growing Moral Challenge Among Secondary School Girls by Fab21: 9:07am On Aug 22, 2025 |
This is the first time I’m hearing about this and honestly, it’s disturbing. To me, it shows that many parents are no longer available to properly monitor and guide their kids. What shocked me even more is that some people are supporting the idea, forgetting that contraceptive implants do not prevent STDs.
Once teenagers know they are “protected” from pregnancy, it gives them the confidence to freely experiment with sex, often with multiple partners. But what happens when a child has already built up numerous sexual experiences as a teenager? By the time such a person grows into adulthood and wants to settle down, issues like sexual incompatibility, infidelity and broken marriages will likely follow.
Yes, I understand we live in a busy world and a highly sexualized society and parents fear teenage pregnancy. But to focus only on pregnancy while ignoring the danger of STDs is very troubling. Some of these teenagers may even lose their lives in reckless sexual encounters.
The truth is, parents have a major role to play. They must:
*Start proper sex education early (for both boys and girls). * Teach morals and values consistently. * Know who their children’s friends are and the kind of influences around them.
Of course, no parent can follow a child everywhere. But at least, let parents play their role first. Contraceptive implants will not solve the deeper issues;strong parental guidance, values and discipline will. |

Santalpharay: When a fertilized egg starts moving to uterus for implantation and gets broken into two, that is when you have identical twins. But if they couldn't break into two completely while the journey lasted and they get implanted while still attached to each other somehow, that is when they start to grow together and forming their body parts together. It is a kind of accidental abnormality. But the chances of having conjoined Twins is rare right ? But have we recorded any case of conjoined Twins in Nigeria before ? |

Nature129: I noticed that the Nairaland job section is extremely scanty these days.
It's looking as if no new jobs are being created in the country.
Are business owners losing hope in the country, selling off their companies and relocating abroad?
Why is it that we don't have regular people posting about openings in their offices here anymore?
It seems only the Politics section is active on this forum now. That wasn't the case in the past. Infact, I've gotten lots of writing jobs on Nairaland few yrs ago. The Job post is declining on Nairaland |
