Do you know any of her children's name
Search for the child on Facebook, you most likely won't find her on Facebook
You could also try twitter , they would help you fish her out.

I don't want to sound controversial, but how are we sure you are looking for her for the right reasons and this story isn't made up. And you are not trying to find her to cause harm to her . Forgive me if I am wrong, I just like looking at things from both ways.

Your username itself says facelessforum, so how do we know you are genuine
As at 2002 when we left Lagos, she wasn't married. She was in her twenties. She was living with her uncle. Her name and this picture are the only things I have about her.

You're right at the emboldened.
But I'd like anybody that knows her to just send her the link to this thread.

I think I'm going to twitter as you suggested, even though I'm not a twitter person. I don't know if she'll like her picture all over the internet though.
FamilyHelp Me Find Amaka by Facelessforum(op):
Hello, hope you're all keeping safe.

Please, I'm looking for an old family friend. Her name is Amaka (aunty Amaka). We lived together in Ikeja Police barracks between 1999-2002. We left Lagos in January 2002, a week after the Ikeja cantonment bombings.

Because phones weren't common, we didn't get to share contact. She was such an angel, with a heart of gold. She treated me and my older brothers like her own younger brothers, even though we were not in any way related.

I've always wanted to do this (search for her ) but I'm not sure she'll like her picture used this way.

I used Google images to search for her but it came back negative. I also used Facebook, but no show.

I decided to try nairaland cos she's based in Lagos, even though I don't even know if she's still alive. I hope she is tho.

Attached here is a picture of her. This picture was taken in 2001.

Does anyone know her?

Lalasticlala

Please, help me push this to front page.

Na God I de use beg

I sincerely apologise for how I started my last response. I said you might have to wait till the lockdown is over before you can start. Very wrong bro, very very wrong. START NOW!

There is no perfect time to start a business. We live in an imperfect world. Today it's #COVID19, tomorrow it might be #lassafever, next might be adverse government policies, then inadequate capital and the list goes on.

If you don't start now, you might never get started. By all means, START NOW!
Thank you very much

AstuteJay:
The lockdown is affecting businesses now, you may not be able to start until it is over unless your state is not affected. After the lockdown there will be so many shops to let for obvious reasons.

If you need to start without a shop, you can try a combination of the following;

1. Get the contacts of people in your area and some estates around you via the Landlord association or estate securities. Send them your offer on WhatsApp or SMS and you must include free pick up and delivery.

2. Print flyers and share where your target markets are. You can put in an envelope and drop at the gate of the houses in estates around you.

3. Print small banners and hang at strategic locations. Please include your home address on the flyer and banner and highlight "free pick and delivery" boldly.

You have to be aggressive with the marketing to get customers because of trust issues. If you had a shop it would be slightly easier because the customers will be at ease. You need to do tripple work of what a shop owner would do.

Your appearance matters a great deal here. Don't show up at a customer's door looking unkept. Your person is whom customers would hand over their clothes to and if it's not convincing enough, they won't deal! If you are able to whao them the first and second time, you can ask for referral.

It's important you let all your customers know from day 1, you don't deliver clothes without payment. Never ever deliver clothes without payment if you don't want to pack up in one month!

All the best.
Thanks you sir

Start that business today my brother, it's a good business that you can start with low capital.

The following are the basic things you need to start;

1. A shop on a busy road (not conpulsory though as you can equally start without one.
2. If you have a shop, basic things like signage, desk, chairs, fan, shelves, ironing tables etc
3. You need to procure two pressing iron (steam and dry), washing buckets, washing machine (not compulsory), dryer (not compulsory).
4. Consumables like clean water, soap, starch, hangers, nylon etc

You might need a receptionist, washer and presser but not compulsory as I started all by myself before introducing staff one after the other.

You will need flyers and banners to market your business. If possible offer free pick up and delivery services.

All the best bro.
Good evening bro.
I've been trying to get a shop for over 4wks now but I'm not able to.
I therefore decided to start without a shop pending when I see one.
Can you help me with tips on how to get customers even without a shop?
How can I get them to patronise me.
Thanks a bunch sir

Good steam iron abound. I will recommend a tokunbo one that sells between 3 to 5k. Names like Rowenta, Phillips, Tefal, Murphy Richards etc are good buy.
Thanks a bunch
I appreciate.

Nice post OP.

May I add that the "barrier to entry" for this business is quite low. You can start with 20k and grow it overtime. You can start without a Machine, Staff, washing machine, dryer etc and acquire all these overtime. I did exactly the later and 4 years later, turnover is in 7 digits.

The only limitation here is the one you choose to place on yourself.
Hi, good afternoon.
Please, I want to start my own laundry business, help me with any information that will be of help to me. Thanks

I'm happy that not everyone thinks I am talking out of my backside! wink

As I said earlier the problems with Software Development in this country are too numerous and pretty much all of them are chronic and fatal. Ranging from the attitude of Executives to anything IT to the Otigba Market, too many factors play against the Software Developer and Software Development in Nigeria!

As for the guy that said that 'Connections' was needed in Nigeria, I fear that is another reason why software development in this country is pretty much comatose! I am quite certain that you didn't have this in mind but it is not hard to imagine how connections have allowed people with crap Software Imagination and even worse Software Applications to be granted Software Projects. I mean has anyone tried to use cscsnigerialtd.com or nigeria.com( which was apparently sponsored by the Nigerian Government!)?

The CSCS website is damn near unusable during working hours in Nigeria and isn't completely functional with the second most popular browser on the planet (Firefox)! In fact the site started messing up with IE as well just so that firefox didn't feel left out. And its also 'Proudly Nigerian'!

There is no single Nigerian application (that I am aware of) which is used en masse by any noticeable populace outside these shores. And to be particularly honest I don't think there is any Nigerian Software used in Nigeria by any notice populace within the country!

I happily stand to be corrected in anything I've said in the previous paragraph.

We need some 'Dansa' or perhaps better 'Fruta' software in this country!

And yes I'm a programmer. And a crap one at that, at least by my own standards! But the fact that I, in my crap state, can still break the security of 80% of the Nigerian Software I have come across gives you an impression of the esteem in which I hold Software Development in this Nation.

I have not developed Software 'professionally' but if I were to be the author of any financial software in this country in its current state, I'd be terribly dissapointed in myself!

This is inspiring.

That's why I keep advising people to come and buy fertile land here in the southwest and start something, while it is still affordable.
Just tell us that you want people to come and develop your region. Everybody knows no part of Nigeria is more fertile than middle belt.
