A Lagos based Septuagenarian has sought the permission of the Court to dissolve the Marriage between him and his 24 year old wife on the grounds of Infidelity. Find below thedetails of the report: A septuagenarian, Mr Lawrence Aigbogun, on Wednesday urged an Agege Customary Court in Lagos to dissolve his five-year-old marriage over alleged infidelity by his wife. Seventy-three-year-old Lawrence, who lives at No. 9, Omomo St., Ifako, Agege, Lagos, told the court that his marriage to Blessing, 24, had been a nightmare. “After the death of my first wife, I was lonely. I needed a companion; so, one of my friends introduced Blessing to me. “She is adulterous and had the courage to bring her lover to my house one afternoon, but was caught by one of our neighbours,” he said. Lawrence also accused Blessing of threatening his life. “We had a misunderstanding on one occasion, and she threatened to kill me. If I had not run, she would have stabbed me with the knife in her hand,’’ he said. The petitioner also claimed that his wife diverted their only child’s school fees. “I didn’t know until the boy was sent home from school. “If I continue with her, I may lose my life. I want the court to dissolve the union so that I can be free,” he said. Responding, Blessing, a factory worker, denied the allegations. “My husband always denies that I am his wife. He tells people that I am his niece and not his wife. “I don’t know the reason he does such a thing. I should be the one denying him because he is old enough to be my...... see full details on https://faceliftnaijablogspot.com |
R&B star Lauryn Hill has been sentenced to serve three months behind barLauryn Hill told the judge who sentenced her to prison that she planned to pay her taxes; it was just a question of when. The judge reminded her that citizens don't get to choose when to pay the government just before ordering her to spend three months in a federal prison. The Grammy-winning singer must report to prison on July 8 to begin serving the sentence for failure to pay federal income taxes for three years, followed by three months of home confinement and a year of supervised probation, the judge said. Hill must also pay penalties and taxes still owed and a $60,000 fine. Hill pleaded guilty last year to three counts of failing to file tax returns on more than $1.8 million between 2005 and 2007. The artist appeared Monday before U.S. Magistrate Judge Madeline Cox Arleo in federal court in Newark, New Jersey, for sentencing. Hill told the judge she lives "very modestly" considering how much money her music -- she has sold 16 million records -- earned for other people. "Someone did the math, and it came to around $600 million," she said. "And I sit here before you trying to figure out how to pay a tax debt? If that's not like enough to slavery, I don't know." "This wasn't a life of jet-setting glamour," she said. "This was a life of sacrifice with very little time for myself and my children." The income in question was mostly from music and film royalties paid to companies she owned between 2005 and 2008, according to the U.S. attorney's office. "Although Hill pleaded guilty to charges specifically related to those tax years, her sentence also takes into account additional income and tax losses for 2008 and 2009 -- when she also failed to file federal returns -- along with her outstanding tax liability to the state of New Jersey, for a total income of approximately $2.3 million and total tax loss of approximately $1,006,517," the prosecutor said. Hill's lawyer, Nathan Hochman, told CNN that Hill has fully paid her taxes. "I think the judge gave a fair and reasonable sentence," Hochman said. Her lack of a prior criminal record and the fact that she has six minor children helped, he said. "I think the government has let a number of celebrities off and never criminally prosecuted them, Willie Nelson being at least one example," he said. "I think that the court took that into account as well. Ms. Hill did not get a slap on the wrist and let off with just paying a certain amount of money but has had to go through this entire criminal prosecution." Hill also used her sentencing to talk about her music. "I didn't make music for celebrity status," she told the court. "I made music for..... continue for the full details on https://faceliftnaijablogspot.com |

Fuji Queen Alhaja Abeni Salawa has dismissed rumours that she was battling with stroke.Although she admitted that she fell sick for some time, she is now pleased to tell her fans of her return with a new album. Find below details of her ordeal as well as her return to what she knows how to do best as reported by Akeem Lasisi of the PUNCH News papers: As waka singer, Queen Salawa Abeni, plans to release another album, she speaks on the nature of a sickness that has kept her off the musical arena in the past few years, AKEEM LASISI reports About four years ago when Waka Queen, Salawa Abeni, was still very sick, fuji creator, Sikiru Ayinde Barrister, went to see her in her house. As soon as the woman who was in a deep pain saw him, she struggled to say, “Alhaji, am I going to die now?” Trust Barrister. In his characteristic life-is-good inspiring candour, he tried to rekindle her hope and assured her that she still had many beautiful years ahead of her. But just imagine how nature can play a fast game on any mortal. Today, the Barrister that was prophesying longevity into Abeni’s life is no more. The waka singer recalled this encounter in Lagos on Friday when she was narrating the difficult experience she went through in the past five years when she went from one hospital to the other, trying to get healing for a sickness that started as a general weakness of the body. She says, “Yes, my one and only daddy Barrister! I paid a tribute to him in this album. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace. Dr. Barrister used to call me Omo baba e – daughter of his father. He asked me to send my house address and he came with five members of his band. He talked to me and made a strong statement, saying, Omo to maa sin Alhaji oni ku loju wa. (The child who will bury Alhaji will not die young.) It is unfortunate that he could not witness my recovery,” she says. Enthusiastically noting that the tough days are over, she is now returning with a new album which, although she declined to give its title, can best be called ‘Testimony’, based on its contents. She says, “I just finished work on the album. I was out of the scene for some time due to the sickness but I’m telling you that I’m fully back on stage. I just finished work on the album last week Saturday. In the album, I first sang about my sickness. People have said a lot of things like, ‘She has a stroke’, ‘She is now paralysed ‘and all sorts of things. Instead of answering them one after the other, I have decided to put everything in the album to let people know that I am a human being. It is true that I fell sick, but God has taken control. I thank God I have survived.” But there are indications that she still needs some time to fully recuperate. According to her, during the five days she recorded the songs, she only went to the studio in the morning. The reason, according her, is that once it was afternoon, she got stressed up. She adds that she recorded with all the members of her band. On how the ordeal started, she explains that in the first week of her sickness, she felt...... see full details on https://faceliftnaijablogspot.com |
A self-proclaimed architect, Opeyemi Oluwole, has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly using a building project proposed by the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, to dupe scores of people. PUNCH Metro learnt that Adeboye had announced during the church’s December Holy Ghost Service titled ‘Signs and Wonders’ that the church had a challenge of accommodation. He had said, “The dormitories we have are many but are not enough for the number of people that attend our programmes so we need people to join us in building extra 2,000 dormitories in order to reduce the number of people sleeping on bare floor in the church auditorium. “The dormitories, we are hoping, would be ready before the next congress and anyone willing to help should get across to us.” According to police authorities, Oluwole, under the pretext of building the dormitories for the church, tricked many people into paying money into his bank account. Our correspondent learnt that the monies collected from victims ranged from N250, 000 to N2.5m. It was learnt that the suspect however ran out of luck after he approached a member of one of the parishes of RCCG. It was learnt that the member immediately reported the matter to the Ketu Police Division. The member, who craved anonymity, said the suspect had told his victims that he had been given the contract by the RCCG to build the dormitories. He said, “Oluwole approached me, saying he had been given the mandate to build the dormitories and that some companies had bid for the contract. He said some of the companies that won were not financially capable of constructing the dormitories so he was sub-contracting it. “He said we would handle the contracts but would have to use the names of the companies that originally won the bid and we would get our money afterwards. He gave us his bank account number and told us to pay N250, 000 as the initial fee for registration. “However, I contacted the Project department of the RCCG and they said they did not give Oluwole any contract. They even checked past records and his name did not appear in the files.” When the police wrote the RCCG headquarters, the....... to read the full details see: https://faceliftnaijablogspot.com |

Suspect in custody.” Boston Mayor Tom Menino said, “we got him” on Twitter. Chairman, Dangote Group, and Africa’s richest man, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, has set out plans to invest up to $8bn to build a Nigerian oil refinery with a capacity of around 400,000 barrels a day by late 2016, the tycoon told Reuters on Tuesday. This will almost double Nigeria’s current refining capacity. “This will really help not only Nigeria but sub-Saharan Africa. There has not been a new refinery for a long time in sub-Saharan Africa,” Dangote said in a telephone interview. The country currently has the capacity to produce some 445,000 barrels per day among four refineries, but they operate well below that owing to decades of mismanagement and corruption in Africa’s leading energy producer. Nigeria, the continent’s second-biggest economy, relies on subsidised imports for 80 per cent of its fuel needs. A surge in domestic capacity would be welcomed by investors in Nigeria, but it would cut into profits made by European refiners and oil traders who would lose part of that lucrative market. Dangote said the country’s ability to import fuel would soon be challenged. “In five years, when our population is over 200 million, we won’t have the infrastructure to receive the amount of fuel we use. It has to be done,” he said. Past efforts to build refineries have often been delayed or cancelled, but analysts have said Dangote should be able to build a profitable Nigerian refinery, owing to his past successes in industry and his strong government connections. The Dangote Group’s cement manufacturing, basic food processing and other industries have helped lift his personal fortune to $16.1bn from $2.1bn in 2010, according to the latest Forbes estimate. see details on http://faceliftnaijablogspot.com |
Two things are bound to attract you to Monalisa Chinda whenever you are privileged to engage her in a conversation. They are her frankness and humility. These attributes played out last week as Showtime Celebrity took her on a trip into her past, her present and perhaps, her future. For the first time, Lisa bares her mind on a number of issues bothering on her love life, crashed marriage and accomplishments. Chiefly, she confirms that she has found love again, not ruling out however, the possibility of giving marriage a second chance. Enjoy!!! Find love again Do you still believe in love ? I believe in love. Love is the reason for our existence. It’s really not enough if you want to get something done, you have to do away with that emotion and be real. Are you religious? I’m from a religious background. I ‘m an Anglican and all the moral teachings I learnt while I was growing up are still there till date. While I was seven, I was a member of my church choir . I attended an Anglican school, Archdeacon Memorial Grammar School, it’s a convent school. I’m quite religious. How did you feel when your father was murdered? Every day that passes by, I think of that man. God bless his soul. He was the reason, I’m doing what I am doing at the moment. My late dad was a philanthropist. He would give out the last money in his pocket to those who do not have. I took after my Dad, whereas my mum was a career woman. My dad ensured that his children were well taken care of, in all ramifications. He was a good cook and he spent greater part of his life in Germany. As far as I’m concerned, my dad was a German. He was always in the forefront of ensuring that his children were well catered for. But my mum was a career woman before she retired. We learnt that you are planning to go into marriage again. Is it true? I would love to remarry. In fact, I’m designed to be under a man. I’m not going to lie that I like this ‘single mother nomenclature. But whereby there is no one at the moment, one is bound to get used to the situation. It’s not a ‘do- or -die affair’ because I have been there before, anything I’m going to do now,it has to be done right. I’m not in the school of thought, where the first one happened and perhaps, the second one. No, any bold step I have to take in settling down again, it has to be right. I’m not ready to make another mistake. But I will definitely remarry. I believe in the principles of marriage. Whether you like it or not, marriage is a better option. How soon are you planning to settle down? I honestly don’t know about that, and I can’t tell for now. Have you found love again? It’s neither here nor there. I’m a lover and I love to love. It was rumoured recently that you have found love again? Is there anything wrong with that? I just replied you that I love to love. What else do you want to know. Your fans would want to know if there is any man in your life at the moment? Yes, there is a man in my life. …Lanre Nzeribe right? No comment. This is my private life. People are alleging that you are pregnant for him? You can see that I’m not pregnant. Naturally, I’m not pregnant for anybody. What do you regret most about your past? One thing I regret most is the fact that I am divorced. Where I come from, I’m the first daughter. I’m from a royal family, it has never been on record in my family that the first daughter will walk out of her matrimonial home. But it was a matter of life and death, otherwise, I would have stayed back and make my marriage work. I tried to make it work, but it takes two people to tango. That’s the only thing I regret, having to raise my child without the father. It’s a bit painful. But I have to live with it. It’s better that way than to expose my little daughter to all sorts of domestic violence. It will definitely disorient her and affect her upbringing. She will be dis-functional. God knows the best. May be, I should have been more careful. With such shocking experience, what would you say life has taught you? I’ m a bit stronger and wiser now than before. I have known how not to get involved in anything emotional again. If you are emotional even in a relationship, you don’t get to think. One shouldn’t allow her emotion to overrule her sense of reasoning. I have understood what it means to be patient to persevere and also, to be careful with people around me. If somebody around you is your very good friend, you end up finding that the person is actually an enemy in disguise. I have learnt all of that because I have been alone. While my marriage was intact, I was not keeping friends. After I’m through with my work, I usually retire to my house. But since I’m alone, and having to mix up with a lot of people, I have realised that I have to be very careful and free-minded and at the same time, be myself. In the midst of all these challenges, what would you say has kept you going? I’m a very strong woman, and open-minded. I know who I am. I’m a Godly person, but I’m not a perfectionist. If I do something wrong, I will always find a way to show remorse and repent of whatever sin I might have committed. That has kept me going. I’m highly determined and focused. I do not go by what people say about me. If your ex- comes back to you today, will you accept him again? see full details on http://faceliftnaijablogspot.com |
Following series of reactions over the drama that ensued over the weekend at the Overcomers Church World Outreach in Aguda,Surulere,Lagos where a certain Solomon Akiyesi had sought to wed a certain MS Uloma Agwu, which was eventually disrupted by his legally married wife, Mrs. Lilian Akiyesi, the Overcomers church's has released a statement which was signed by Chika Moses, a media representative of the said church condemning the manner in which Lilian handled the issue. The statement iussued by the church reads: “What was meant to be a day of celebration – the wedding ceremony of one of our members Uloma Agwu to Mr. Solomon Akiyesi at the Overcomers Church World Outreach in Aguda – was sullied by an ugly incident. Immediately following the praise and worship session and before the officiating commenced, a woman who claims to be the lawful wife of the groom disrupted the ceremony. She was accompanied by people who sought only to wreck havoc in the church. They were unruly and violent. “We regret the ugly series of events that followed this brash display. At the Overcomers Church, we do our due diligence to ensure a couple set to wed is right in the eyes of the law and in the eyes of God. To the best of our knowledge, Mr. Akiyesi, was unmarried. “The Overcomers Church World Outreach regrets that the woman who disrupted the wedding chose such a time to do so. There is no ideal situation here, but it would have been right that she bring the case before church officials in a manner befitting a house of worship. This was not the case. “The groom, Mr. Akiyesi, has apologized to the Church, his bride-to-be, Ms. Agwu, and family and friends that gathered for the wedding. “This happened because I tried to cut corners,” he said. He admits he did not properly dissolve his previous marriage to his first wife and says he is determined to do what is necessary to rectify the awful situation. We apologize for the ugly scene this caused at our Church and apologize to those who witnessed it. It is not exemplary behavior and not who we are as a Church. “The General Overseer of the Overcomers Church World Outreach, Bishop N.E. Moses, addressed the congregation after order was restored. “Bishop Moses prayed for the couple, Mr. Akiyesi and Ms. Agwu, but he did not legally wed them – no documents were signed so as not to disobey the law. Mr. Solomon Akiyesi and Ms Uloma Agwu will..... see full details on http://faceliftnaijablogspot.com |
