At the just Concluded 21st Convocation Ceremony of Lagos State Politechnic (LASPOTECH),a 27-year old man, named Opeoluwa Bakare emmerged as the best graduating student of the institution with with a Distinction in Computer Engineering, scoring a cummulative grade point average of 3.97 out of a possible 4.0. This was a landmark achievement in the history of the School as no one has ever scored as high as 3.97 CGPA out of a possible record of 4.0 This achievement wasn't an easy task to come by as he had to cross through a lot of hurdles withThe West African Examination's Council for six good times. Not that he was actually failing, but on account of having either some of his papers withheld or outright cancellation of result. Born in 1986, in Illisan-Remo, a town in Ikene Local Government,Ogun State,Opeoluwa Bakare, the last born out of seven Children,Bakare attended expressway Primary School Ikosi Ketu from 1990-1995.He left in primary 5, to complete his 1st school leaving certificate in Community Primary School,Shangisha,Magodo in 1996. He then proceeded to Ikosi High School for his Secondary Education From his account, Bakare has this to say “I finished my secondary school education in 2002. When the WASSCE result was released, WAEC released my English, Mathematics and Physics, but others were withheld. I thought the others would be released, but at the end of the day, they were not. With just three credits, I could not proceed to the university to study computer engineering. “The following year, I enrolled to retake my papers. I studied hard, but when the results were released, mine was not. And that was how I continued sitting for the same exam in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006. Still my results were not released. I became disturbed but not discouraged." “In 2006, I did both the May/June and November/December WASSCE and, to the glory of God, one was released and I cleared all my papers,” he says. @Dreal:while you may not see anything wrong in a man of God owning a Private Jet,a lot of people see it differently. Have you bothered to pause a while to ask yourself the following questions? What is the worth of a Private Jet?How much does it cost to maintain a Private Jet? What is the source of money used to procure a Private Jet? If it was purchased and gifted to him by some Aristocrats of his congregation, what is their source of livelihood? Hope they are are not proceeds of finacial crime? Did Jesus and His Apostles Commercialise the work of the ministry? In 2001/2002,period when I was still doing my A'levels,a well respected Pastor in Ibadan, now based in Lagos, tore a N50 Note in from of the congregation, chastising those who come to donate N50 to his God. Asking them if the God they serve is a poor God.Is that biblical? what do we learn from the Widow's Mite? Who are these pastors emulating? Can you site a locus classicus from the Bible where this kind of Celebrity lifestyle was done? Even Apostle Paul, the most 'walkerholic'Missionary in the New Testerment never depended on those he preached to.He was a tent maker, and did not earn money from his followers and neither did he live a Celebrity lifestyle. I dont mean to offend the faith of anyone, but I consider it immoral for a man of God to live a life of affluence when a vast majority of his followers or Congregation live below the poverty line of a dollar per day. If you need to cover 160 countries in a year, you can still achieve that via modern technology such as Teleconferencing,Telecast,Video Conferencing, etc.I does not necessarily have to be there in person across 160 countries to create an impact! Recall what happened in the Old Testament days, when Moses was trying to do all the work? His Father-inlaw,Jethro an High Priest of God,scolded him, telling him that he alone cannot do the job, or else,he will wear himself down. That made Moses to call other noble men to assist him in the work of God. http://faceliftnaijablogspot.com |

Some weeks back, Mr. President was asked by a foreign media, whethe Boko Haram is a terrorist group, our dear President responded in a disappointing manner, when he said, Boko Haram members are not terrorist. they are Nigerians like us,and that they are our brothers. That it is an issue of a section of the country, that is feeling aggrieved. Now my Nairalanders..lets compare and contrast the new tune that our Prsident is dancing to..In the Punch News paper,a press cut reads"Reacting, President Jonathan condemned the blasts, saying it would not stop his administration from fighting terrorists. In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, Jonathan said the incident would not deter the Federal Government from its determination to overcome those who did not mean well for the nation. He added that the government would not be stampeded into abandoning what he described as its unrelenting war against terrorists. The statement read, “President Jonathan reassures Nigerians and foreigners in the country that the Nigerian Government will continue to do all that is required to ensure the safety of lives and property, including continued collaboration with local and international partners and stakeholders to check the menace of terrorism". So has it now clear in his 'cerebral vision' that he ought to have labelled them properly as terrorists? or how long shall we continue filibuster over this issue? or is he telling us again that he is not a General?when infact he is the Commander in chief of the Armed Forces....see more on this issue including pictures on www.faceliftnaijablogspot.com's blog |
