The press in Nigeria is not as voracious as the one in the UK, in fact, it is one of the weakest around the world. It has never lived up to the expectation of being the instrument for check and balance in the country, reason it is constantly flung by those with the power to do so, else a lot of ills that have gone and is going wrong in the country would have been adequately thrashed with the press being the front runner.
