DELTA State governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan and President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, declared, on Sunday, that contrary to dooms day predictions, Nigeria will not break up in 2015. Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 2014 Jubilee World Festival of Word of Life Bible Church, Warri, which had “Arise 2015” as its theme, Governor Uduaghan said “no matter the external influence, Nigeria will not break up in 2015. “There are predictions that Nigeria will break up in 2015 but Nigeria cannot break up in 2015,” the governor said, observing that, “2015 is going to be a challenging year, in 2015, a lot is going to happen but, we shall overcome.” The governor noted that Nigerians had resolved to remain united as members of a corporate entity, stressing, “we have decided in Nigeria that we shall be one, all the parties in Nigeria have agreed that Nigeria will not break up.” He commended the president of CAN, Pastor Oritsejafor and the Word of Life Bible Church for organising the annual jubilee festival, which attracted men of God from different parts of the world, stating that the annual festival had brought blessings to Warri, Delta State and Nigeria. “Papa is the father of all Christians in Nigeria and this fatherhood is one of the most stressful fatherhood, the stress of protecting Christianity in Nigeria, protecting Christians in Nigeria against those who do not wish us well is not an easy one. “There has never been a time in the history of this nation that we are where we are today. We should be on our knees and pray fervently for Papa, he needs our prayers and for people who can go beyond prayers, please do what you can for him to succeed in what he is doing.” Also speaking, the CAN president, Pastor Oritsejafor, declared, “nothing can break up Nigeria, “ adding that anybody wishing the break up of the country would not have his desires fulfilled. Pastor Oritsejafor said the jubilee festival would be sustained annually by God’s grace to win souls for Christ and prepare Christians for the years ahead. Delivering a sermon on the occasion, Bishop Wayne Malcolm, who came from London, admonished Christians to always know that God keeps promises, saying that there were three levels of spiritual maturity; children, young men and fathers, signifying different levels of spiritual maturity. “As little children, we ask what can God do for me today, young men will ask, what can God do through me while fathers ask, what can God do, it is not about what God can do for me or what God can do through me, fathers are concerned about you,” he said. Those who accompanied the Governor to the service include the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Chief Steve Oru, member of House of Representatives, Hon. Nicholas Mutu; President of Athletics Federation of Nigeria and a Secretary of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State, Chief Solomon Ogba; President of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Mr Amaju Pinnick; traditional rulers; PDP gubernatorial aspirant, Hon. Charles Emetulu; aspirants for different political offices; political appointees, among others. http://faheezakinwumi..com/2014/11/nigeria-will-not-break-up-in-2015.html?m=1

Second Republic Governor of Kaduna State, Balarabe Musa, has described Boko Haram as an instrument of government created to destabilise the country and to shift focus during the 2015 elections. In an interview with SUNDAY PUNCH, the ex-governor refuted the claim that the insurgency in the north-eastern part of the country is tied to religion. According to him, the security problem is a strategy to distract citizens ahead of next year’s elections. Musa said, “Some of us believe that Boko Haram is not a religious problem. It is more of a political problem. Boko Haram is a problem created by the government deliberately to destabilise Nigeria and divert the attention of the people from the failures of the government. “With Nigeria destabilised, starting from the North, when the 2015 elections come, the level of insecurity will be so much that Nigerians will not be concerned with the elections. Instead, they’ll be concerned primarily with peace. That will make election rigging easy.” Musa however advised Nigerians to eschew the practice of selling their votes for money and, instead, decide that they want liberation. “It is (lack of) money that undermines the freedom of the Continue reading http://faheezakinwumi..com/2014/11/boko-haram-political-instrument-of-govt.html

The political intrigues ahead of 2015 general elections continue as the Presidency, in what could be described as a last minute ditch effort to woo aggrieved chieftains of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has resolved to send a delegation of former Heads of State and Presidents, amongst others, to meet with ex-Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida, over the re-election bid of President Goodluck Jonathan. A very reliable source told The Nation that the move, which also enjoys the backing of the national leadership of the ruling party, was a fall-out of a recent meeting of Continue reading http://faheezakinwumi..com/2014/11/ex-presidents-others-to-meet-obasanjo.html?m=1

President Goodluck Jonathan and leaders of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have resolved to grant automatic tickets to at least two serving senators from each of the states of the federation where it has senators to douse the growing tension in the Senate over 2015 elections. About 40 senators are to benefit from this decision, it was learnt last night. Senators elected on the platform of the party had on Tuesday commenced a work to rule, whereby all government businesses on the order paper were jettisoned. The meeting, involving President Jonathan, the National Chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, and the senators elected on the party’s platform, was originally fixed for Wednesday night, but it could not hold because the president returned late from his trip to Burkina Faso. Sources said that the meeting, which started at about 8.00 p.m., lasted till the early hours of Friday with resolution of issues on a state-by-state basis. It was confirmed that at least two senators from each state would be allowed to return in 2015. The source said further that the president had directed the party’s chairman and the Senate President, David Mark, to see to the implementation of the decision. Kano State governor and presidential aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Rabi’u Kwankwaso, speaks with journalists on issues ranging from his presidential ambition to the defection of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal and other matters. KOLA OYELERE brings the excerpts: Do you have any plans to anoint your deputy as your successor? Let me just say that when the time comes, we will see how that can be handled. General Muhammadu Buhari, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Sam Nda-Isaiah and you are the leading presidential aspirants in the APC. How is this situation being handled for the sake of the party in the coming general election? We are communicating with one another. Atiku and I have been together for over two decades. We were both under the political leadership of the late Major General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua. We were together during the constitutional conference, in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and now APC. I consider him as an elder brother. Although Muhammadu Buhari and I had never been in the same party until APC, I have always respected him. We will continue to communicate as a family. We will agree on what to do, whether to leave it for one person or go to the primary. Whichever way, I want to assure you that whoever among us eventually emerges, we will rally round him to ensure that the party succeeds because the success of APC is not only for the party members, but also for the country. We have seen what has been happening in this country for over two years. Insecurity has taken over. Every day, you listen to the radio, watch television, read newspapers or monitor the social media, the issue has always been the same: people being killed, maimed or displaced. We now have about four million internally displaced people. There are thousands of Nigerians seeking refuge in Cameroon, Chad and Niger Republic and the leadership of this country doesn’t even talk about it. Recently, we sent seven trucks, that is, two trucks of rice and five trucks of maize to Niger, and five trucks each to Borno and Yobe states. Now, we are sending some to Adamawa and other places where you have so many people who are being displaced. I want to appeal to the Federal Government not to keep its eyes away from Nigerians. The government and the entire citizens should realise that these are our brothers and sisters who have found themselves in this mess. They didn’t bargain for it. I am sure many of them voted for this government in 2011 but this is what they get from them — insecurity. What we are saying is, it doesn’t matter who started this crisis or who is executing it, what is important is that this government stops it. People are sick and tired of these killings and destruction of properties. The primary responsibility of any government, either in Nigeria or elsewhere, is to protect lives and properties but this government is far from carrying out this responsibility. The defection of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, is causing controversies in the polity. How do you see this playing out? Well, I think some of our friends in Abuja are furious. Anytime they have defection from another party to their party, they celebrate but when we have defection from their party to another party, they paint it as a problem. I don’t think double standard is good for them, for democracy or for this country. We have seen members of the National Assembly and state Houses of Assembly and so many other people defect from parties, including APC, to their party and all we saw was them celebrating with champagne even during Ramadan. But when anyone is defecting from their party, they see it as something abnormal. They have seen nothing yet; it is just a matter of time, God willing, Nigerians will kick them out, back to their villages. They have to take note of that. I don’t know why (President Goodluck) Jonathan and I collected our nomination forms the same day. Maybe the indication is that both of us are going to slug it out in 2015, and once that happens, I am sure you know the answer - he is going to lose. I don’t see anybody who will be happy to vote for him apart from the hawks in Abuja and of course, those contractors and others who are stealing crude oil and oil money. These are the ones that will be happy to vote for him again so that they can continue milking the economy of this country. But the masses, the talakawas of Kano, Enugu, Zamfara, and Bayelsa will be very happy to have a change, a change that will guarantee security of lives and properties of Nigerians, no matter where they live, no matter their religion or ethnicity. These are going to be the issues in 2015, security, economy, not minding the fabricated figures that come from Abuja, indicating that all is well. All cannot be well where you have crises, where you have insecurity, where people are scared of bringing their investments into the country. All these cannot help the economy anywhere in the world. We have all these issues on the ground and certainly, sentiments will not work in 2015. All the antics of dividing the country based on religion, based on North and South, based on ethnicity and class will certainly fail in 2015. And I want to advice INEC (Independent National Electoral Commission) to be cautious, because somebody was telling me about suspected tricks of INEC using computer to help a particular political party in 2015. But we will keep our eyes open and make sure that every single vote counts next year. If you become president, what are you going to do differently in addressing the problem of security in the country? Continue reading:- http://faheezakinwumi..com/2014/11/i-will-defeat-jonathan-even-in-south.html
