Uni'Sunderland has got a very good Nursing programme, their Nursing simulation suite just received a massive upgrade. Plus, their fees are competitive as well when compared to other schools. I might be a bit biased because I schooled there on a different programme, but I did have a look around their Nursing suite whilst there.
in short, the school is very good and the tuition is worth it? any other added information? thanks

I'm a REGISTERED NURSE n I've gt sumtin to say. Dear op, sorry abt ur child... Hope he/she is beta?
Dias dis mentality pple av abt Nigerian nurses and dias nothing u can do to change DAT. Dia mind is just made up about us. In tyms lyk dis, I wonder...is it DAT nobody in Nigeria has ever come across a nurse who was good to dem? Or who saved dia lives
In every profession, we av d good n bad eggs... Dis is not a big deal.
Firstly, Not every1 DAT wears white n works in a Hosp is a nurse. Not every female in d Hosp is a nurse.. Dia are auxiliaries/quacks, dia are record officers who might av been trained to stand in as nurses. Pls, let's all learn to spot d difference
I work with a teaching Hosp owned by a state govt. I'm an ACCIDENT AND EMERGENCY NURSE n I must say d way d system is designed is sumtin else. In my own accident n emergency dept, NOTHING is available not even gloves or emergency drugs/ injections. Each pt provides wateva is being used for him/her. Wen a pt is rushed into my dept, d first tin is to tell d relatives to obtain a casenote while I start checking d patient's vital sign to know whats up with d patient. After obtaining d casenote, ur doc reviews u, writes out materials, drugs/ injections, u procure dem at d pharmacy, den we start treatment. DAT is d setting we find ourselves. Nothing available except u provide ur stuffs
Buh a nurse is in d centre of all dese,..... Despite being overworked, underpaid, abused by patients n dia relatives, I'm not FRUSTRATED.
I get blamed by d ignorant pts for hospital policies, I get blamed for d lab's incompetence, doctor's unavailability
I even get blamed wen d fault is from d patients/relatives failure to bring ur pt to d hosp on tym.... Buh in all dese, I'm a NURSE.. Im HUMAN. I'll still care for d sick/dying ones despite d talks/abuses/attitudes.
Not everytym is it d nurses' fault, sumtyms d Hosp policy, d govt lots of factors here
If u say ALL nig nurses are bad, prob UVE NT JST BEEN FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO MEET D GOOD ONES. BETTER STILL, STOP PATRONIZING QUACKS.
Im caring, I save lives, I show empathy.... I REP NURSING
Sorry for d epistle, I just needed to talk
God bless you my professional colleague

I am simply picking details from what you posted. After the year course, would the applicant become a registered nurse?
You have to be a registered nurse before you are qualified to enrol for the program.. registered nurses diploma RN which is 3years + the 1 year program = bachelor of nursing science.

Would this training in the UK involve placements ?

Does the applicant have any related degree certificates ?
pls be more explanatory, I don't seems to understand your questions.. but for the question one.
After the completion of the program, one is not automatically qualified to work in the UK. one will be expected to sit for NMC exams.

My little contribution: There are other African countries doing this RN - BSN in a 12month duration or less(1 academic year) Eg, Cameroon, South African am 100% sure about it n at a cheaper rate.
The last time I visited Cameroon, I saw so many ppl from Nigeria who came for the program n have also gotten their certificate. I can recommend schools to you.
Unless u want to go to UK for better opportunities.. shey u grab naaa
Note: pls don't do it on a part time basis in any African country don't know abt UK.
But if u have the means enough just 4get d African country issue.
Thanks for the information, pls do recommend school for me

Good morning great Nurses, I'm opening this thread for Nurses like myself who may want to complete their university undergraduate degree program in the UK.
I know a lot of us (RN holders) are not happy about the fact that we have to spend another 4years in the university before getting our BNSc here in Nigeria .
This thread is aimed at helping individuals who nurtures the dream of obtaining a degree certificate under one calendar year (12month) in UK.
I know of very few universities offering this program.
>University of Sunderland
>Anglia Ruskin university
>Nottingham university
And price range for the tuition is £10,000 that about 5million naira, other expenses exclusive.
I would like Nigerian nurses who has already passed through/has useful information about this program to please enlighten us about it, by telling us how feasible the process is, the struggle and challenges to be faced, cost of living, the merit and the demerit if any..

INSTITUTIONAL BASED UPGRADE PROGRAM (RN-HND)
Based on the resent reform in nursing education made by the nursing and midwifery council of Nigeria on 27th-30th of March 2017 when the council organized a conference for nursing leaders in Kaduna, it has been agreed that nurses return to their various schools of nursing for an update of their certificate.
The following are the contents of the circular:
i. This applies to nurses who have obtained their Registered Nurse Certificate from 2013 who are yet to obtain a bachelor's in nursing science.
ii. Candidates must report in their various nursing schools on or before Oct 27, 2017. for commencement of their registration process.
iii. The program will last 1 year in which nurses will be updated to Higher National Diploma (HND).
iv. Nurses are advised to take steps as soon as possible as spaces are limited in available nursing schools.
v. Nurses are advised to visit NMCN website for more updates on IBUP
For more information visit :

what's ur take on these please? it is even true/achievable ?

some people will have information and they won't talk. that's bad about this profession.
HealthRe: Women: Know More About Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID) by faheez(m):
sometimes, it follows a particular sequence, when the first one is poorly treated, it will lead to the second one and so on I.e outward inward, from

1) Vulvitis which is inflammation of the vulva =>

2) Vaginitis which is inflammation of the vagina=>

3) Cervicitis which is the inflammation of the cervix which is the opening into the uterus=>

4) Endometritis which is the inflammation of the wall of the uterus =>

5) Salpingitis which is the inflammation of the Fallopian tube=>

6) Oophoritis which is the inflammation of the ovary..

So when inflammation has affected an individual in this order, it will eventually lead to PID.

So I think it's also commonly caused by poorly treated infection of the female reproductive system. Even without being sexually active, one can have it..

Any word ending with (ITIS) meanings inflammation of.
I stand to be corrected sha.

bro, I feel ur pain.. just let go of any bad thing you feel for the man provided it won't hurt you guys and ur mum.
And if you are finding it hard to let go, just simply allow ur mum and the man to do their thing, you and mum will do ur thing too, don't interfere in anything concerning the man, don't allow the man to exist in ur mind. with that, everybody will be at peace and you will be happy.
