An Open Letter to Governor Hyacinth Alia

Your Excellency,

Human society rests on a simple moral truth: leadership is a sacred trust. In ethics, we are taught that a leader who sees suffering and chooses silence has already violated the very duty that gives authority its meaning. The philosopher Aristotle wrote that the highest virtue of leadership is courage, while Immanuel Kant argued that moral responsibility cannot bend before convenience or fear. When a leader fails in these basic moral obligations, he does not just disappoint his people, he wounds the soul of the society he swore to guide.

Your recent statement at the NHRC consultative forum, where you boldly declared that there is no religious, ethnic, racial or state related genocide in Benue, has left many Nigerians in shock. At a time when thousands of your people remain in Internally Displaced Persons camps, when entire communities have been erased, when families continue to mourn their dead and when your own Bishop is crying out and pleading for help, you stand before the world and deny their suffering.

Your predecessor, Samuel Ortom, had the courage to speak the truth even when it threatened his political comfort. That is what ethical leadership demands. You, on the other hand, have chosen denial. You have chosen political convenience over moral duty. You have chosen silence when your people needed your voice.

I am convinced that the church will not restore you to your priestly faculty after your tenure as governor. What a wicked man you have chosen to become, and what a shameless priest you have shown yourself to be. While your people bleed, you speak in defense of what is killing them. The cassock hid your character, but politics has exposed you.

A man who abandons his sacred duty for political games has already lost the moral right to wear the cassock he once claimed to honor. By this public statement in support of evil against your own people, you have soiled your hands with blood. You cannot stand on the altar to celebrate the holy mass with clean conscience. No amount of politicking will return you to office for a second time. Your reelection is already in the dust bin. These are the consequences of choosing political expediency over the truth.

Your Excellency, let conscience guide you back to the reason you were elected. Let your people remind you of the sacred duty you once embraced. And if your pride will not let you correct your path, then at least bury your head in shame for failing the very people you vowed to protect.

History will not remember how polished your speeches were. It will remember whether you stood with your people when they were in danger.

Former Governor of the Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi, has criticized the President Bola Tinubu-led Federal Government.

Fayemi said Nigerians are hungry under Tinubu’s administration, adding that Nigerians may not vote for him in 2027.

In a video sighted by DAILY POST, Fayemi was seen saying that Nigerians are angry with the Tinubu-led Federal Government and insinuating that they will not vote for the APC in the presidential election.

Speaking in Yoruba, Fayemi said: “Except we are deceiving ourselves, Nigerians are not happy with the Federal Government. Because of hunger and lack of money.

“If we look at the roads, especially federal roads, whoever that is coming from Efon Alaaye and passes through Erio Ekiti will know what his eyes will see.

“Whoever that is coming from Omuo Ekiti and passes through Ilasa Ekiti to Ayedun Ekiti will know what his eyes will see.

When we did this road that BAO (Governor Biodun Oyebanji) just completed, I think like N18 billion to N20 billion was spent on that road.

“Federal Government said they didn’t send us to do the road, so no refund was made. If they had refunded the money, won’t the governor have used the money to do the phase 2 of the road we did from Ado Ekiti to Iyin Ekiti, and construct the road to Aramoko-Ekiti?”

Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Adeoye Aribasoye and another member of the House of Assembly, Tope Longe were on the high table with Fayemi in the video.

WE RESIST THE PLOT TO FRUSTRATE DANGOTE CEMENT PLC OUT OF BENUE STATE

Good day gentlemen of the press, we have called you here today to brief you on the plot by the Governor of Benue State, Hyacinth Alia to frustrate Dangote Cement PLC out of Benue State.

As you all know, Dangote Cement PLC, through its plant at Tse-Kucha, Gboko Local Government and it's business outlets is the highest employer of labour in Benue State after the federal, state and local governments.

According to our source, the Alia administration has perfected plans to use multiple taxation, including those not currently enforced in Benue State to frustrate the operations of Dangote Cement PLC, same way the administration of Gabriel Suswam frustrated an agro-commodities company, Olam Nigeria Limited, to move the largest rice farm in Africa from Benue to nearby Nassarawa State.

The Alia administration also intends to also use the thugs recruited under the guise of Benue State Central Youths to harass staff of company, demanding for "matching grand" and other illegal levies.

Disturbed by the discovery, we decided to investigate the reasons for the decision to frustrate Dangote out of Benue State.

We were further shocked when we got to discover that, the plan against Dangote is to pave way for Governor Alia to buy the cement company through a proxy.

We shall expose this proxy when the need arise.

We have taken a careful look at the planned action against Dangote and we have arrived at the conclusion that it is not in the interest of Benue State.

We are all aware of the contribution of Dangote to economy and well being of Benue citizens.
For the records, Dangote is highest tax payer in Benue State, thereby contributing significantly to the Internally Generated Revenue(IGR) of Benue State.

Dangote Cement PLC has awarded scholarship to students from not just the host community of Mbayion, but even those from other communities in Gboko Local Government Area of Benue State, studying in tertiary institutions across the country.

In the area health,the company has also contributed significantly to communities in the state. Currently, the company has built a hospital at Ihungwa-Nor, Mbatiav, Gboko Local Government Area of Benue State that is currently awaiting commissioning.

The company is fulfilling it's corporate social responsibility to the people of Benue State.

Dangote Cement Plant in Gboko has provided direct and indirect jobs to indigenes of Benue State. Sending Dangote away will lead to job loss and increase the percentage of unemployed people in the state, which will further worsen the insecurity in the state which the Alia administration is clueless on how to confront.

We hereby call on all indigenes of Benue State and lovers of Benue State to rise and condemn the plot to frustrate Dangote out of Benue State as those plotting to do have not shown capacity to manage even their families, talk more of managing a gigantic cement company, that is known across Africa.

We are yet to recover from the departure of OLAM from Benue State. We can't afford same with Dangote.

We call on the Alia administration to focus on creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive in the state by formulating policies that enhance business and industrial growth and tackling the insecurity in the state.

As citizens and stakeholders of Benue State, we warn that any attempt to worsen the poverty in Benue State by frustrating Dangote out of Benue State will be resisted by the good people of the state.

Kaduna PRACO Women's Town Hall Meeting: Atiku Extols Wife, Princess Rukaiya Atiku Abubakar, Calls for Unity and Cohesion.

As part of preparations ahead of the 2023 General Elections, the wife of the former vice president of Nigeria and Candidate of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), Princess Rukaiya Atiku Abubakar, hosted a town hall meeting in Kaduna State, to deliberate with party members and supporters towards mobilizations of electorate votes for her husband.

Town hall meetings is in consonance with the PDP campaign policy of people oriented political engagement which is geared towards bringing governance to the electorates at grassroots levels.

During the town hall meeting, Wife of former Vice President, urged electorates in Kaduna State to vote en masse for her husband and Candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar to recover Nigeria from poor leadership.

According to her. Atiku Abubakar is the only candidate amongst others with the most notable experience, and capacity to recover Nigeria from the stranglehold of the failed All Progressives Congress (APC).

Reacting to the outcome of the town hall meeting, her husband, Alh. Atiku Abubakar on his official verified Facebook account expressed his satisfaction and excitement for the support and the sustained campaigns by women.

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar who has been moving from State to State in his bid to sell his recover agenda to the people, thanked his wife, Rukaiya Atiku Abubakar for organizing the meeting and called on the people of Kaduna State to support and vote for him in the forthcoming presidential election in February, 2023.

In his remarks, Atiku promised to keep to all his promises made to the people as contained in his policy document, My Covenant with Nigeria.

He urged Nigerians to remain focused and committed to the new era of development and good governance, adding that his administration would be all inclusive and shall provide adequate security as well as revamp Nigeria’s ailing economy.

Mr SA Eche-Ofun, the dictionary defines “more of” as a way of describing a person or thing being better or more accurate than another. So if your principal Senator Moro in 2018 agreed to being more of an Executive than a Legislator whether Rt. Hassan Anthony Saleh was there or not , by the dictionary definition of “more of”, isn’t that an indictment? Hasn’t he (Senator Moro) foretold that he won’t perform or do well as a legislator?

I understand and feel your pain SA, when the statement was made, you weren’t even there, but now as SA New media, I can understand you have a job to defend everything that concerns Senator Moro even when not defendable, you must impress him too.
