It has become alarmingly evident that Mrs. Ohiri is in desperate need of immediate psychiatric help. It appears that she may be suffering from dementia or memory-related issues, although she may be unaware of this condition.

Nigerians and Ndigbo were left aghast when Mrs. Tracy Nicholas Ohiri, whom we had privately cautioned about the perils of blackmailing public government officials and successful businessmen, resurfaced with new baseless allegations. This time, she targeted her lawyer, Barr. Marshall Abubakar, and other human rights activists who stood by her during her arrest and prosecution for the false sexual harassment claims against Senator Dave Umahi.

It is truly astonishing that just a few days after she voluntarily and without any coercion tendered a public apology to Senator Dave Umahi, the Minister of Works, and pleaded for his forgiveness, while also disowning her fabricated statements and recanting the sexual harassment allegations, she has now come up with fresh accusations. This behavior reaffirms our earlier suspicion that she is acting on the instructions of opposition coalition leaders from the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Their malicious intent is to undermine the integrity of the hard-working Minister of Works, Senator Umahi, and divert his focus from fulfilling his constitutional duty of fixing Nigeria's roads.

For the sake of clarity and to set the record straight, Ohanaeze Ndigbo wishes to emphasize that Senator Dave Umahi never paid Tracy Ohiri any form of monetary compensation, let alone the alleged 70 thousand dollars (equivalent to 100 million Naira). Instead, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, on its own initiative, privately reached out to well-meaning Nigerians and Igbos. These individuals, considering her supposed repentance and the public apology she made to a respected political leader like Senator Umahi, felt that she deserved a small compensation for herself and her family.

Now that the circumstances surrounding the compensation received by Tracy Ohiri have been clearly explained, it is incumbent upon us to call on her to abide by her earlier statements and the public apology she made. For the sake of peace, she must desist from further false accusations. If she is arrested again and fails to prove her claims in a court of law, neither Ohanaeze Ndigbo nor anyone else will be in a position to shield her from the consequences of her actions.

HRH Eze Bobby Aguocha, Ohuruzo I of Umuohuru Kingdom and Grand Patron of Ezenaebiri, in his new year message, has called on the people of Umuohuru, Umuahia North LGA, Abia State, and Nigerians at large to embrace the new year with renewed faith, unity of purpose, and a shared resolve to build a more prosperous society.

Speaking from the throne of Umuohuru Kingdom, the revered monarch described the passing year as a period that tested endurance but also strengthened collective resolve.

> “The year behind us demanded patience, sacrifice, and courage from our people. Yet, it equally reminded us that even in difficult times, hope remains alive when we stand together,” he said.

HRH Eze Aguocha expressed confidence that 2026 holds greater promise, stressing that Nigeria’s future remains bright if citizens remain united, prayerful, and committed to constructive engagement with leadership at all levels.

Ndi Abia, I greet you with deep respect and renewed hope as we step boldly into a new year.

The year now behind us was one of reflection, resilience, and redefining purpose for our dear Abia State. It was a year that tested convictions, strengthened alliances, and reminded us that meaningful progress is never accidental—it is the product of intentional leadership and collective responsibility.

As President of the United Abia Artistes and Patriots (UAAP) Forum, I witnessed firsthand the evolving narrative of Abia: a state steadily reclaiming its dignity, rebuilding trust in governance, and repositioning itself for sustainable growth. This transformation did not occur in isolation. It was driven by leadership anchored on discipline, transparency, and service.

I must, therefore, acknowledge the working relationship and shared commitment between myself and the Governor of Abia State, His Excellency, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR. Over the past year, our engagements—whether formal or informal—have been guided by a singular objective: the progress and wellbeing of Ndi Abia. Governor Otti’s leadership style, defined by prudence, courage, and accountability, has begun to restore confidence in public institutions and inspire renewed belief in what Abia can become.

His approach to governance—firm yet inclusive, visionary yet practical—has positively impacted critical sectors of our state and rekindled hope among professionals, creatives, youths, and patriots who had long yearned for purposeful direction. Leadership, after all, is not about noise, but about results, and Abia is beginning to feel those results.

For us in UAAP, the past year reaffirmed the significance of our forum. UAAP remains a rallying platform for Abia’s artistes, intellectuals, cultural ambassadors, and patriots—those who use creativity, influence, and conscience to shape public opinion and defend the soul of our state. We are not spectators in Abia’s journey; we are stakeholders and partners in progress.

As we enter this new year, I renew my unwavering confidence in the UAAP community and our allies. I urge us to remain united, principled, and constructive. Let us continue to support policies and leadership that advance the common good, while also speaking truth with courage when necessary. Our strength lies in unity, and our relevance lies in purpose.

To Ndi Abia at home and in the diaspora, I say: this is our season to believe again. Believe in Abia. Believe in responsible leadership. Believe in the power of culture, patriotism, and collective action.

Ohuhu, Abia State – In a stark reminder that national development must be gauged by the condition of its most remote communities, HRH Eze Bobby Aguocha, Grand Patron, Ezenaebiri and Ohuruzo of Umuohuru Kingdom, has stated that “the yardstick of measurement in Nigeria should be the rural areas. Until they begin to do as well as those in the city, we are not doing well.”

Speaking ahead of the upcoming holiday season, the traditional ruler questioned the affordability of a decent Christmas lunch for many rural dwellers and highlighted the precarious health status of those living outside urban centres: “As the holidays are fast approaching, how many in the rural areas can afford a good Christmas lunch? How many are healthy enough to believe they will be alive to witness this Christmas?”

The revered monarch stressed the vital link between health and national wealth, noting, “Health is wealth and that statement is significant. I am really tired of burying the dead when their death could have been prevented if there had been adequate medical attention.”

He lamented the frequent loss of Elders with wisdom in our communities and pointed out that “Most of our communities no longer have aged elders in their nineties. These were men who traditionally held our lands together for us, while calling on our ancestors for daily intercessions over unruly behaviors in our various communities. Their indepth wisdom and knowledge of the land can not be overemphasized. Old age is about maintenance, without adequate Healthcare benefits and welfare package, they will not survive to tell our stories.”

Concluding his remarks, the monarch expressed a personal conviction: “I'm tired of burials that could be avoided. As a human being with a conscience, I prefer to sleep well and snore like tomorrow is guaranteed to me because someday I will get very old, and I would like to be assured that I will not die out of negligence but at a ripe age to meet my maker.”

I want to address the recent statement made by Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, in which he claimed that the Abia North Senate seat belongs to him until he has completed his term. Such a statement, coming from a former governor and current senator, is not only undemocratic but also disrespectful to the collective will of the people of Abia North, who have the constitutional right to freely elect their representatives.


Let it be clear: no individual owns a democratic seat in Nigeria. The Senate seat for Abia North belongs to the people, not to any individual, family, or political dynasty. Power originates from the people, and no amount of personal entitlement or boastful rhetoric can override the sovereign rights of the electorate.


While Senator Kalu is entitled to his ambitions, he must also respect the principles of democracy, which demand open competition, fairness, and accountability. The 2027 elections will not be about personal ownership; rather, they will focus on competence, integrity, and service delivery—values that the people of Abia North have long sought.

For the record, we are not intimidated by any claims of political monopoly. Abia North deserves fresh ideas, purposeful leadership, and a voice that speaks truth to power—not recycled arrogance masquerading as experience.

These policies prioritize the welfare of parents and students and aim to alleviate financial burdens while enhancing academic standards.

OHAFIATV recalls that the Abia State government had launched several initiatives, including limiting graduation ceremonies to terminal classes—Primary 6 and SS3—to reduce unnecessary expenses. Textbooks will be separated from workbooks, allowing younger siblings to reuse textbooks and lowering costs for parents. Additionally, parents are instructed to collect their children's basic education certificates, with schools charging no more than ₦2,000 for Primary 6 certificates.

Moreover, students must pass a state-organized promotion exam to be admitted into SS3, and transferring schools between SS2 and SS3 is no longer permitted. These policies promote accountability, ensure integrity within the education system, and alleviate financial pressure on parents.

Recall that starting January 2025, Abia State implemented a free education policy covering Primary 1 through Junior Secondary School 3 in all public schools. This initiative guarantees that every child in Abia State has access to quality education, fostering future growth and development. The government has emphasized that parents and guardians who fail to comply with the new policy will face prosecution under the Abia State Child's Rights Law of 2006.

As a traditional leader, HRH Eze Bobby Aguocha encourages other states to adopt similar policies.
