The context is about establishing a new home—not a license for emotional or physical disconnection. In fact, the same Bible also says:

“Honor your father and your mother…” (Exodus 20:12)

That includes caring for them when they are old and vulnerable. The early church even emphasized the duty of children to care for aging parents (1 Timothy 5:4, .

“Your Parents Lived Their Own Lives” – True, But...
Yes, they lived their lives—but many sacrificed theirs for us. The idea isn’t that we live under our parents forever. The point is that if you’re in a position to make their old age easier, why not? Especially in cultures like ours where there are no robust elderly care systems.

Not All Comments Need to Be Dismissed
You may not have seen a “sensible” comment—but that doesn’t mean they weren’t there. Maybe they just didn’t align with your viewpoint.

Different doesn’t mean dumb. It means diverse.

Living your life and caring for your parents aren’t mutually exclusive. You can do both with wisdom, boundaries, and love.

That's life he can't live with them forever as a man he will one day create his own family. Hire nanny or have distance relations to live with them or better still have them live with you, in advance country this is not the responsibility of the children. They are nannies or caregiver all over the place to take care of old people. We shouldn't be emotional about everything, in reality the man needs to live his life and create his own period.

Did you mean you can't sacrifice for your parents. When things were so bad for you, you knew the road to their house eating free food. It's now you suddenly realize you have to find your own life.

If you must move out, do the following;

1. Get a house no more than an hour away from them.
2. Hire a nanny and caregiver if required.
3. Install CCTV to monitor the nanny or caregiver.
4. Visit them as often as you can weekly and call them daily.

You think they give out positions because they like you abi I started as an ordinary associate which doesn’t need degree and moved to a pa and they area manager which I applied for with my university degree couple with other certifications

I studied geography in delta state university my niche back then was urban planning, transportation and quantity surveyor

There lot of niches on geography that you will always find your way

I’m in yankee now and I used it to work
I’m currently in the warehouse, transportation and logistics department with Amazon
I’ve worked with UPS too

Everyone of my course mate who studied geography are almost doing well too
