Jobs/Vacancies › Re: A Thread For Microbiologists by fashoo2010(m): 9:53pm On Mar 06, 2016 |
Hmm.... I'm a graduate of Microbiology, finished my nysc last year. During my service year, I was privilege to be d CLO, some microbiology Corp members came to complain to me dat the teaching hospital they are doing their ppa, they don't allow them to enter the lab, being a Microbiologist as well, I took it upon myself to see the HOD microbiology lab in the teaching hospital.
The man told me a lot things, the fact is that Medical Laboratory science(MLS) has taking over the microbiology lab from we the Microbiologist, its very painful, but its because microbiology doesn't have a recognised and sound body dat can fight its course.
Two reason d man gave is dat.: 1. I was told dat we the Microbiologist did only medical microbiology for just a semester, at most a year, while the MLS did the practical and everything about medical for d whole of their duration in school. 2. He said, Microbiologist can work in other field eg food industries, Environmental, pharmaceutical, oil and gas, etc.. while the MLS people can only work in d hospital. That we shouldnt come and hijack the small work in d hospital from the MLS.
He told me, its has been like that for a while now. They have a strong and registered body that is always fighting for them. MLS is now a professional course, they do induction before going for service just like medical doctors, pharmacist, engineers.. Etc... Thats why u can never see any MLS corpers in school teaching. They are always posted to hospitals.
After discussing with the man, I was speechless, I only told d man dat, they should change the name of Microbiology lab to MLS lab since we are not allowed to enter our own lab. Its very painful.
For any undergraduate or graduate that doesn't know the crisis in d health sector BTW MLS and Microbiologist, my advice is, if ur dream is to work in a hospital, its better u think twice. Its better to do MLS than to do microbiology if ur dream is to work in hospital lab. Though some private hospital do employ Microbiologist but rarely will u see govt hospital employing Microbiologist (Unless u get long leg)
Microbiology is so broad, someone can work in a lot of agencies-and-parastatals, both food, Environmental, science and Technology, health, oil and gas, different companies. The job u can easily see is medical representative for pharmaceutical company, though the pay is meagre but u can start something from there. Quality Assurance Officer position is not always advertised because its always internal recruitment. And u know government job is very limited to some set of connected individual, dats why most graduate tend to look for company jobs.
I got a medical sales representative job in jan, but the conditions were too stringent, I have to resigned the job... Up till nw, im still looking for another job...
Irrespective of ur course of study, it takes the grace of God to get a good job.
To be self employed as a Microbiologist, u need money, to register ur company, to get ur product approved by appropriate government Agency,b4 talking about capital for the said products. So many people are not ready to give u capital.
U must not be discourage, encourage ur self and trust in God. Microbiology is a very good course, its Nigeria factor dat is making it hard for Microbiologist to get job.
Wishing everyone all the best in this our chosen field. Lets hope in God, and we will testify. |

Jobs/Vacancies › Re: FG MDAs That Are Currently Recruiting/Replacing [2016] by fashoo2010(m): 10:51am On Feb 26, 2016 |
Rumpelstiltskin: [b]There is a new but very sad development.....I have decided to discontinue this thread. Some of my reasons are:
1. The thread is becoming bigger than I can manage. It is getting really difficult to reply comments.
2. Although a few good people have also contributed and provided information about current recruitments/replacements, everyone is on my neck for ALL the information.
3. Somehow, I feel terrible that every1 is looking up to me for help yet I can only assist very little.
4. Somehow my identity got blown and I received a mail from a NLer (well known) advising me to quit the thread because not everyone will use the information I am providing for honest purposes. Some1 reported the thread yesterday and it was pulled down, it took the help of the MODs to restore the thread after I called their attention to it (the MODs can testify to this). Why did the person pull down the thread? He was angry cos I didnt state how to get the connections for the jobs and he felt since he doesnt have the connection, the thread was worthless. He called me names and when I reported his post, he pulled down the entire thread. Maybe some of you following this thread noticed this. Another person has sent a mail threatening to publish this thread on a blog in order to address the issue of "illegal/silent recruitments". For these reasons and more, I want to stick to the advise I received and draw the curtains here. I gave little info, they dey threaten me, if I come talk the one wey I see today, I go enter jail be that ooo
5. Just like LastMumu rightly stated, scammers will begin to take advantage of the vulnerable ones on this thread. I won't forgive myself if any1 of you fall a victim to scammers because of this thread. Therefore I beg you guys, any1 that calls or mail you to send money for a job slot is a CRIMINAL & FRAUDSTER. Ask them how they got your number and be very wise at all times. Any1 who really wants to help you will never ask for money or sex before giving you your appointment letter. Please be wise and do not be DESPERATE.
6. My greatest joy however is that I have been able to send a signal to those who care that they can get a FG job even this month if they put in a little more effort. It is very possible! FG jobs are gotten weekly in this country.
7. All those I have promised to send those numbers, I will fulfill that promise rightaway.
8. The next and last thread I will open as regards to FG jobs is the various salary structures thread I promised. I will neither answer questions nor comment on issues not related strictly to salaries alone.
9. An advise to all those whose connections are from Senators/HoR members, hold them really tight this period of budget defence, jobs dey comot well well. I know what I'm saying. Everyone wants their budget to be approved without hassle, so they'll honour just any request Also sometimes, whether or not an agency is recruiting, e get d kind people wey go send your name wey the DG no go fit reject, they go create position, space and office for you by force. GOD's connection is the greatest sha oooo
10. As long as you are a graduate, you can work in any FG MDA, although being in an agency where your discipline is most relevant guarantees a faster career growth and even enhances your chance of getting to the top most position of that agency.
11. If you have been relying on a particular person/connection/strategy without any fruitful result, please change your approach/strategy.
12. I really wish I could help every1 but I have my limits too........maybe when I become a Senator, I'll do more
13. I sincerely apologize for having to discontinue my comments on this thread. I wish you all truly understand my stance. It is becoming increasingly difficult to share certain info on social media because of bad belle people. I mean well though but some people won't just understand. I know so many people will be disappointed with my action, I beg make una no vex
14. I wish you all the best continued success in this year 2016 and beyond. GOD bless you all
