Since you have a first degree, you can apply for BSN second degree. It's a fast track program and it has a 24months duration in schools like U of C. But you must have concluded prerequisite courses such as Anatomy and physiology(6 credits) and any art course before you can be admitted for nursing. In order to apply next year, the fastest school that you can do such prerequisite courses is in University of Athabasca. I submitted same day with you though online and I am yet to hear from CIC as well. You start counting the day you submitted if your biometrics is within the 30days of your submission at that point it's valid. However, if it exceeds 30days, your application will be cancelled...and you start afresh Frank659: Good morning peeps, pls when do one start counting his or her application processing time.Is it after submitting or after biometric? pls don't laugh at me because I'm worried.submitted my application on 14sept and did biometric on 29th uptill now I haven't heard anything. If I track the application it keep on writing processing in Canada visa office.I'm just worried thanks |

So sorry bro for my late response. I won't advice you to use an agent it's better you fill the form yourself and this you can do by going through the site to gather your info. Also, I would suggest you start your application next year Jan or Feb so that you can have ample time for your study permit application.
Lastly, I have been sending money to Canada even before I moved it and there was no pressure on the dollar as at then. I'm sponsoring myself

Bejide1: How is the pay like? Do they allow part payment? I am sorry for the late response. It's quite expensive as the 2 years Diploma program is C$29,150 and each semester is roughly C$7,500. You have a deadline to complete your tuition each semester |

I applied for student permit, paid the $150 CAD but no place to click to pay for biometrics. Do I still need biometrics? I applied online, can I still go through the U.S.? Kindly assist as I applied on the 14th of Sept.My passport will expire 2018 and my TRV is valid till 2018 while for my daughter, son and wife will expire 2017,2019,2020 respectively lawmerchant: Applying for Canadian Study Permit in the US while holding a US visitor visa
Recently, there have been debates in this forum as to whether the above is possible. The answer is YES. There are two ways to do this:
First, you can go to Visa Application Center (VAC) in Los Angeles and file an application in person (including biometrics). VAC is the US equivalent of VFS in Nigeria. VAC has two offices: New York (processes visiting visas) and Los Angeles (processes study permits). The application process is pretty straightforward and you can find details about VAC processing of study permits here: https://www.csc-cvac.com/en-us/selfservice/cvac_docs_forms_checklists
Secondly, you can file an online study permit using your US address. When CIC sends you a request for biometrics, you can visit any Application Support Center (ASC) operated by the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) close to where you live and give your biometrics. They will forward your biometrics information to CIC. https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=offices.type&OfficeLocator.office_type=ASC
If you receive a request to submit your passport to the Visa Office, you can also use the services of VAC. You can send the passport to VAC by courier for onward transmission to the Visa Office: https://www.csc-cvac.com/en-us/selfservice/cvac_application_processing
As a matter of personal opinion, you stand better chances of securing a study permit from US than from Accra. For many reasons - first, visa officers in third world countries have a very negative bias against visa applicant, and the high level of desperation among the applicants tend to feed this negative bias.
Secondly, (and this is strictly personal opinion), visa offices seem to have certain quota of study permit they can issue, with the great number of applications from Nigeria, I bet you great number of applications tend to get refused for some awful reasons (even when these applications appear solid). On the other, Americans are not really that interested in studying in Canada so if there is any quota for visa offices in the US (which ideally should be higher than the quota allocated to Nigeria), they don’t get to fill them that easily.
So if you have a US visa, consider applying when in US and reduce the pressure in Accra. More so, if the “hunters” in Accra visa office has learnt to shoot without missing, the “birds” in Nigeria should also learn to fly without perching. Best of luck in your next application. |

JUBILEE2000: Hi, u are in the same shoes with my wife. Currently processing admission for a diploma program though she made a 2.1 cos they say it's easier to get the admission than applying for a masters program. She also will be travelling with our 3 children. My only worry is how she will cope with the rigours of Canadian education and 3 children. To be candid, it might be difficult for her to cope as she'll need to shuttle between her program and taking the kids to school. In my opinion, if it would be possible you can leave the kids behind maybe for a year instead of traveling with them at once. Just a personal view |

teleayomi: Thanks lawmerchant and Faskare for your comments but am kinda confused now.
Can you please shed more light on the term " legally admitted" into a country? In my own understanding can it mean if you have a valid visa to the US but does not live in the US or lives therefor a short period you can file your Canada application using the visa office in US.
Please can i also get more comments or opinion from the house regarding applying for trv from the US with a B1/B2 visa.
Thanks. Thanks jj17cv,you gave the best explanation. Having a B1/B2 visa you are allowed into the U.S. for a maximum period of 6months this does not mean you can apply for visa to another country. This is because as a visitor, you can't work which might affect the person's assessment but as a student, you can apply to any country and your chances are higher. To confirm you can send a mail on general enquiries to la-info@csc-cvac.com. Many thanks |

awelekiti: My first Canada visa a decade ago was one yr and I applied via paper route, no even online application as at that time. I reapplied via same means and got 4 years. The last one which was applied for, online when online application was super fast, was also 4 years. It doesn't matter which route you applied through. I think visa applicants' experiences differ and peculiar to other embassies, using my case as an example. My first US visa was 3 months and people that saw it said it's rare to see a 3-month US B1/B2 visa. Some others said they're only aware of 2 years visa. My first UK visit visa was 6 months, there were first time UK applicants who got 2 years visit visa. Probably the VOS use their discretions, I wouldn't know. I agree with you. My TRV application early this year took just 2 months as I applied Feb 16th and my passport was requested before April 20th though online route and a strong travel history. We applied as a family, and we have different expiry dates based on our passports(2017,18,19,20)...and all multiple entries. So, I feel the VO determines whatever suites them in decision making |

Do not be discouraged. But from my own opinion, I don't think you can apply from U.S. as only LA office attend to student applications with legal stay in the U.S.. As a visitor, you will need to have your biometrics done. For example, I have a valid U.S. and Canada visas but in order to change my status from visitor to student, I was urged to come to Nigeria for my application. I am presently in Nigeria as I applied last month for a status change. Thus, applying from the U.S. might be difficult. |

pinkettrox: Pls help a 19 yrs old!!! So i found this school called Bow valley college in Alberta. I think am interested but am still really not clear about somethings: 1. It is a college so they offer certificate courses/ diploma . Which should I consider as I want to study Business. Although am in Uni here in Naija. I really want don't want to spend 4 years in Uni and the dollar rate is crazy so I really want to go for not so expensive one. But nobody seems to mention this school. How is it ? Pls help a girl Hello, Bow Valley College is a very good college and I would suggest that if you have your way do not grad in Niaja as Canada do not recognize most of our courses. For example,I was at U of Calgary to make inquiries about a program and the woman asked where did I obtain my first degree? I told her Nigeria. She replied sorry we do not accept some courses offered like Use of English is not recognized. And other courses, I need to provide the syllabus/ outline for the course. You will be so mad with the Nigerian educational system when you get here. I will suggest you apply for the Diploma program which is a 2 year course compared to a certificate program which is a year. As for me, I am to start in Spring 2017, though I hold both first and second degrees but I need a Canadian certificate to achieve my aim. However, note that BWC is in Calgary Alberta and it is a little expensive compared to Toronto. |
