Career / Re: How To Find Environmental Jobs In Nigeria by Fastfingers: 2:43pm On Jun 01, 2016 |
Hi Jimbass I currently live in England and just concluding my MBA from a UK university. My first degree is in environmental sciences and recently I'm having the urge to go back to it, even though I diverted into other JDs after graduation - reason being that I did what I could get a job in. However, a lot of my mentors have been urging to go down that path and doing my own research, I think there's a need for it. The truth is, getting a job isn't promised. But you can actually consult for the Government and even within the private sector. Environmental issues are becoming increasingly important and Africa is the focus. I'm considering doing an MSc in something related to this. Maybe starting 2017. As my head is still cooling off from MBA steam. I've been looking and I think I should be eligible to apply for some scholarships. If you would like us to contact each other do drop a note. Maybe we can run minds together. |

adellam16: Girl I replied just to let you know that I'm not your mate in ANY way. So don't dream it just cos we are online. Show respect to your seniors! I'm kinda happy that this response is more humble than the first. You've clearly found your niche. It's all vanity! Yes. Better vanity than your miserable job where you aren't properly trained on your manners #ByeFelicia |

adellam16: Joke! Didn't you see where I wrote how I stopped to help the guy to the hospital but there was no need cos he was already dead? Oh! You're so used to people jumping buses that you wanted me to indicate 'I came down from my car to take the pics' so you would know I wasn't using public transport. Eyahhh.... I haven't jumped a bus in my ENTIRE life honey - at least not in Nigeria. Sorry if that offends you. I have two cars. Sorry if that offends you too. I would have been like people of my class who ignore the problems of fellow Nigerians, but I just couldn't! Sorry if that offends you as well. Why would I bring my company website here? So you can call me out on social media? The heck I didn't even use my real email address to open this account. I'm too polished for people to know I'm getting on an online cat fight. Or you think I'm as dumb as you are? I'm just bored really... And I need me some mischief time that's why I'm here. If you like, be Bill Gates PA. I am 26 years old and I have 25 steadily paid employees. That's an achievement many Nigerians can't boast of. Anyone can get a job anywhere, not everyone has the balls to grow their own business: If you must know, I was going to my grand mothers house to drop her favorite stew. I don't even live in Ajah! We are WORLDS apart! Live with it |

adellam16: Ehen..... I knew it! No wonder! Frustrated employee? Have you been paid for last month? Come let me add you to my 25 employees. I'd place you on a more permanent salary so you don't have to come and rant out your frustration on nairaland. Better sleep because you have to be up by 4AM to beat Lagos traffic while some of us will stroll in by midday with a large smoothie (I hope you know what that means) cup in our hands. |

adellam16: You abused the person who took the pictures and that is me! Every curse that has been sent here will return to you all and your respective families! I CAN NEVER go online to throw insults. Instead I will ask questions as to why the person acted that way and send a note of correction or caution. But because 95% of Nigerians lack basic manners and home training you people just spew insults as if you are sitting in front of your village hut talking to illiterate neighbors. There wer ppl here who made the same point without sending curses out to everyone. You are not God and you don't know the situation that was there. So be careful before you send curses back to your generations. At least laudate apologized after understanding. The rest are just reading and digesting all their curses for their generations. May it sit well in your respective tummies. 1 Like |

boladez: Thank you. I am a lady by the way. And this happened by 11:00 pm. Many ladies like me won't even stop. I was the only woman at the scene. The people who came down from the taxi with him were still waiting for the next bus when they saw it happen live. The 50naira the taxi man gave him was still in his hand. The taxi man jumped down from his car to say he was a passenger on his vehicle and he is surprised to see this happen within a twinkling of an eye. It's funny how Nigerians are so quick to insult people online. Nigerians may be anything but not wicked. If people aren't touching an accident victim let's ask why. It's because there's a failed system out there that would turn your good deed into a crime should you try to help. That's the issue. In civilized countries anyone can carry the corpse anywhere because CCTV cameras would detect who the criminal is or not. But not our own country. So don't come here abusing Nigerians. Abuse Nigeria for not having a response team, good police officers or adequate facilities to detect crimes. |

I am wicked. How does it affect you? Only one who practices witchcraft would know a wicked person. Spongeface! |

boladez: Thank you for your rational post. I am the one who took the pictures. Truth is the victim came down from a pick and drop taxi and crossed to the other side of the road. He was at the bus stop waiting jejely when a drunk driver slid off the road and knocked him down along with two other passengers. This driver sped off immediately. The other two were still breathing and they were rushed to the hospital. A medical person on site checked the pulse of this one and his heartbeat and confirmed he was dead. I was passing by and saw a corpse on the road. So I turned back thinking he wa still alive so I can help to rush him to the hospital. But when he was confirmed dead we had to look for an ID to send out his details so as to reach family members. We went to the closest police station at Ajiwe and were denied a police report- TWICE. The patrol vans at Ajah also ignored our pleas. So we eventually found his wallet and took a photo of the corpse and license to post online to see if word can get round faster. Eventually we found his phone by calling the recurrent phone number on the bank tellers in his wallet. It was in the bushes Beaide the road. With this we reached his closest friends, family and even neighbors, who eventually came to the location. But by this time the photos had already gone online. I even had to ask a friend to help me post on Twitter coz network was bad at my end. I didn't send it to nairaland. Some soldiers on patrol eventually stopped, and asked us to step back.while they observed the crime scene. The tyre marks of the driver from where he was supposed to be to the point where he hit the victim were still on the road. It was a pitiful sight. I hope his two friends survived. There was no response for over one hour. Even the emergency hotlines weren't picking up after being called for a long time. So we took laws into our own hands. And the first dialed call on his phone was his wife's number which he just dialed before the hit. She wasn't even in Lagos. She sounded very confused. Nigeria sha.... We have a long long way to go. 1 Like |

You should have stopped and ran to the nearest police station to report nah. As a good citizen. No. You held your nose and looked disgusted and walked away. Abi? |

laudate: Is that why Nigerians just insult people anyhow? Are we not in this country? Don't we know what happens in situations like this? I cried yesterday on seeing this man but I was helpless. I had to send it to a friend to post for me as I couldn't even get online due to bad network. So my friend did as he could since he wasn't even there. |
