Politics / Nnamdi Kanu, Falz, Burna Boy,others Accused Of Using Fake News To Create Anarchy by Fastnewsnigeria: 11:10am On Nov 04, 2020
Leader of Indiginous People Of Biafra,IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu and pouplar Nigerian Singers, Falz, Burna Boy, Others have been accused Of Using Fake News To Create Anarchy.

#End SARS protests in Nigeria, the Global Amnesty Watch, GAW, and some rights groups have alleged that some celebrities attempted to create anarchy using fake news.

The rights groups claimed that some Nigerian celebrities and international Non-Governmental Organisations, NGOs, incited violence through fake news.

In a memorandum sent to the Lagos State Judicial Panel of Inquiry and Restitution with pieces of evidence, GAW named popular singer Falz, DJ Switch, Feminist Coalition, Burna Boy, Twitter founder Jack Dorsey and Nnamdi Kanu of being responsible for purveying fake news aimed at causing anarchy in the country.

The rights groups called for the punishment of those named in misinforming Nigerians that led to a “near-breakdown of law and order” that accompanied the EndSARS protests, particularly in Lagos State.

The memorandum was signed by Abdulmalik Alfa, Werigbelegha Zinake, Linda Etafia and Sadiq Abdullahi on behalf of International Human Rights Protection Forum (IHRPF), Centre for Human Rights Advancement in Nigeria (CHRAN), Global Integrity Crusade Network (GICN) and Make Nigeria Better Initiative (MNBI).

GAW also fingered celebrities like “Folarin Falana poplarly known as Falz, Disc Jockey, DJ Switch, Feminist Coalition, Burna Boy, Twitter founder Jack Dorsey and Nnamdi Kanu of being in the forefront of this campaign to destroy the nation with fake news.”

“The EndSARS protest across the country is assumed in many quarters to be without a leadership structure. While this position has been canvassed in numerous quarters, however, there seems to be a link with regards to the provision of logistic support to the protesters across the country.

Politics / Oyibo Massacre: Igbo Groups Blast Wike, Describes Him As Enemy Of Ndigbo by Fastnewsnigeria: 1:48pm On Nov 03, 2020
Igbo Groups, Socio-cultural organizations, Igbo Peoples Assembly, (IPA) and Igbo Aborigenes, have blasted Governor Nyesom Wike over the outbreak of violence at Oyigbo in Rivers State during the End SARS protest.

The Igbo groups described Governor Wike as an enemy of Ndigbo for inviting the Army to Obigbo in Rivers State.

The Spokesmen of the two socio-cultural bodies, Vincent Ekejiuba and Don Ikpe in a joint statement signed, alleged that Governor Wike invited the genocidal Nigeria Army to show that he is a paid agent of forces opposed to Igbo existence.

“Wike is among the elements trying to erase Igbo natural ownership of Obigbo and other towns in Rivers state thus giving credence to the sordid past when Igbos were dispossessed their properties in Port Harcourt. Boko Haram and Bandits are ravaging the north and Fulani herdsmen are doing same even in Governor Wike’s village and that has not attracted the kind of genocide Wike is leading now in Obigbo.

“We call on the international community to intervene now before it’s too late. Igbos are not begging anybody to be Igbo and if Wike decides to be Rivers or Niger Delta man, that is his business,” they said.

In the same vein, Ikwerre Youth Consultative Forum,(IYCF), Niger Delta Unity Forum, (NDUF), have called on the federal government to fish out the soldiers behind the invasion.

The spokesmen of the groups, Reginald Okparama and Fengene Broadrick called on Governor Wike to halt the invasion immediately and not use the Indigenous People Biafra, IPOB, as an alibi to continue his atrocity in Obigbo.

On his part, Chuks Ibegbu, the spokesman of the apex socio-cultural, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has called on the army to leave Obigbo immediately, noting that Ohanaeze leadership will meet immediately on that and other national issues.

I’ll No Longer Fold My Hands, I Will Take Over From Buhari , Tunde Bakare Proclaims.

Founder of Citadel Global Church, Tunde Bakare, has declared his readiness to take over from President Muhammadu Buhari come 2023.

The cleric during his appearance as a guest on Arise Television show yesterday, insisting that as a citizen of Nigeria he has the right to run for any elective office.

“It is my fundamental right to run if I chose to. I mean every word I spoke. I cannot fold my hand or say well, let me continue to watch. No,” he said.

“I am a citizen of this country, born and bred here by the grace of God and I intend to contribute my quota. It is like a matter of life and death.”

The pastor said that he is ready to support the right people but also offering himself, hoping that Nigerians will support him, adding “I am not taking those words back. I have something to offer my country.”

“But it is all left for my country to say we want you because I cannot impose myself on them. I challenge right-thinking patriots to rise and let us join hands to fix our country. If God designs it that I will be the 16th president in 2023, I’m ready. I’m prepared.

Bakare said he has no word to impress anybody, adding that all he can guarantee is quality service. According to him, he has been trained for over 30 years by God to be able to add value to this country.

Politics / Endsars: The Youth Should Embrace Dialogue - President Buhari by Fastnewsnigeria: 10:43pm On Nov 02, 2020
The Youth Should Embrace Dialogue , President Buhari Speaks.

President Buhari says the youth should not continue the #EndSARS protests in the streets considering the many lives have been lost in the process.

President Buhari said this on Sunday during the maiden edition of the national youth day tagged, ‘invest in the youth, secure our future’.

The president said while he condemns the use of force against peaceful demonstrators, the youth must understand that protests cannot continue indefinitely.

He said his administration has so far demonstrated commitment to addressing the various demands raised by the protesters, adding that the youth should reciprocate such gestures by embracing dialogue with the government.

“You must realise that protests cannot last indefinitely. Our government will not lift a hand to stop or suppress you. However, the fact of the matter is that other forces and actors will seek to take over your protests that they may redirect them in ways you did not intend and perhaps do not agree with,” he said.

“Every successful protest movement the world over has understood that there comes a time when activity must move from the street to the negotiation table. That time for you has come. Do not be afraid. Welcome the chance to talk to government.

“It is important that we all strive to use this moment constructively. Too many people have already been lost. It is our duty to use this fateful situation to move ourselves to a more just and caring society.”

Politics / Buhari Is Surrounded By People Who Lies To Him - Fr Mbaka by Fastnewsnigeria: 2:54pm On Nov 02, 2020
Rev. Fr Mbaka, Spiritual Director of Adoration Ministry has said that  Buhari Is Surrounded By People Who Lies To Him.

Fr Mbaka alleged that the criminals and hooligans have continuously fed Buhari with lies.

The clergyman made the claims while delivering a message, entitled “Impure Heart” during the 2020 All Saints Day Holy Mass at Adoration ground, yesterday.

Fr Mbaka alleged that the bodies of End SARS protesters killed by security operatives in Enugu State were dumped in the Onyeama valleys.

Fr Mbaka noted that Buhari has failed to salvage the situation because he had surrounded himself with the wrong people.

He said: “(President) Buhari, who could have been a solution to this, succeeded in encircling himself with criminals and hooligans, people who do not just tell him lies, but rather, they magnify lies – lies with NAFDAC number – and feed him!

“We are celebrating the All Saints Day today. When we talk about the Saints, the contrast becomes the living, we who are still on earth.

“Our leaders seem to be reaping the seeds that they had planted o. When somebody that you had not given jobs to come out to say that he is hungry and angry, it was you that attracted such protest, in the first place. Do you know how many youths that have died due to hunger?”

Politics / Oyigbo Massacre: CUPP Drags Buhari To International Community Over Killings by Fastnewsnigeria: 2:23pm On Nov 02, 2020
CUPP Drags Buhari To International Community Over Killings By Soldiers In Oyigbo, Rivers State.

Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP), has lamented the ongoing massacre in Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State.

CUPP blamed President Muhammadu Buhari for the killings being perpetrated by men of the Nigerian army.

This is despite some residents of the LGA blaming Governor Nyesom Wike for the killings.

Recall that a resident of the area, Ndu Amaike  said that on Sunday that the alleged killing started since Governor Wike signed the executive order, declaring a total ban on the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB in all parts of the State.

Amaike said the essence of the military action is extra judicial, adding that, “I have personally lost two people that are close to me. The army just shoots at will and bullets will just touch people.

“The soldiers mounted roadblocks on the major roads, but we now hear that they are about to move into the streets. So, those that have gates have started to lock their gates. People are just scared really.”

However, CUPP urged Buhari to call off his ongoing use of brutal military action in Oyigbo, adding that it has petitioned international human right bodies to start criminal trials of those who participated in the extra judicial killings.

CUPP said it has found it extremely important to raise its voice against what it described as the ongoing brutal military onslaught against residents of Oyigbo.

The political parties noted that the massacre, which is being carried out under the guise of peace keeping, is coming after the same military was unleashed on peaceful protesters in Lekki area of Lagos State.s

“It is indeed worrisome that despite the negative reactions the Lekki incident attracted both from local and international scenes, the government of President Muhammadu Buhari still deployed troops to Oyigbo,” CUPP said in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere

CUPP said it was wondering the rationale behind Buhari administration’s “easy way of shedding innocent blood without blinking an eye.”

Politics / Rivers Killing: Expect Vengeance Soon – Nnamdi Kanu Tells Governor Wike by Fastnewsnigeria: 11:53am On Nov 02, 2020
Rivers killing: Expect Vengeance Soon, Nnamdi Kanu Tells Governor Wike.

Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, on Monday said Governor Wike of Rivers State won’t escape the judgment of God and people over the killings in Obigbo area of the state.

Nnamdi Kanu said those who lost their loved ones in Obigbo were determined to unleash vengeance on Wike, his children and collaborators.

Nnamdi Kanu disclosed this while accusing Wike of ordering the murder of Obigbo residents.

He made the claim in a statement he personally signed.

According to Nnamdi Kanu: “Everybody that has a hand in the ongoing Obigbo genocide must know that vengeance is coming, it’s not a matter of if but when. And when it does come, apologists of Wike and the army must remember what happened at Obigbo.

“There were riots and disturbances all over Nigeria. Nigerian army and police have killed and continue to kill hundreds of young people and in retaliation young people attacked police stations.

To single out the inhabitants of Obigbo for extermination is a vicious and evil undertaking and a calculated attempt by Wike to please his Fulani masters and Britain that tried but failed to exterminate the Igbo race between 1966-70. Obigbo will not die, it shall rise again because the blood of the innocent is crying out for revenge.

“Vengeance is coming and with it the judgment of God. Those children in Obigbo murdered by Wike have nephews and cousins who are so embittered to the point that they can no longer be controlled. I feel sorry for Wike, his children and all collaborators in this brutal genocide.

Politics / We Have No Intention Of Shutting Down Social Media - Alhaji Lai Mohammed by Fastnewsnigeria: 10:14pm On Oct 31, 2020
We Have No Intention Of Shutting Down Social Media , Alhaji Lai Mohammed makes Clarifications.

Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, made the clarification on Saturday in Lagos, NAN reports.

The minister said the Muhammadu Buhari led administration has high regards for freedom of the press adding that its plan is to regulate social media to be responsible and refrain from giving out fake news and hate speech.

He said his recent call for the regulation of the excesses of social media should not be misinterpreted for a total ban.

“We did not at any time say that we will shut down the social media.

“Social media has come to stay and it will be an attack on democracy to shut it down because it is the fastest way of passing out information all over the world.

“However, it must be regulated to avoid it being used in a manner that it becomes a supplier of fake news and hate speech.

“Also, we will not fold our arms to allow suppliers of fake news and hate speech to use the social media to throw the country into chaos,” he said

Crime / Facts And Fantasies Of The Lekki Massacre by Fastnewsnigeria: 8:22am On Oct 31, 2020
Facts And Fantasies Of the Lekki Massacre.

This is a weighty word that surely ought not to be used lightly or frivolously. When I checked, synonyms for the word, massacre, include bloodbath, butchery, carnage, death, holocaust, or slaughter. It refers to a large scale, coldblooded murder of human beings. One dictionary defines massacre as ‘an act of complete destruction’.

Did such an event involving deaths on an industrial scale occur at the Lekki Toll Gate in Lagos on the night of Tuesday, October 20? Repeated reports in the local and international media indicate that this was the case.

What are the facts of the matter? The Lekki Toll Gate was one of the two major sites in Lagos of the massive #endSARS youth protests which had gripped the national and global imagination for two weeks till the night of October 20.

Exceedingly well organized, focused and disciplined, the protesters had conducted themselves with remarkable decorum, decency and dignity in pursuit of their demand that the dreaded police Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) should be disbanded and fundamental police reforms instituted. Within days, an ordinarily obdurate Federal Government had acceded to their requests. SARS was disbanded and the other demands of the protesters accepted in principle.

But then, the protesters introduced new demands. They were defiant and remained on the streets even though as peaceful and restrained as ever. The longer the protests lasted however, the more extraneous forces intervened and systematically hijacked the protests on a steadily expanding scale across the country. By October 20th, law and order had broken down in large swathes of Lagos.

So bad did things get that Police stations were torched, policemen killed and police armories looted with criminals carting away arms and ammunition. Obviously alarmed, the state government declared a curfew. With the police under attack, it apparently had no choice but to request the help of the military in enforcing the curfew.

The curfew was imposed to stem the descent to anarchy, which certainly was not the aim of the protests. Why, then, didn’t the protesters, in line with their law abiding stance, disperse in obedience to the curfew? Had they not at that point crossed the dividing line between legality and illegality? I think so.

Even then, was the frenetic shooting by the soldiers to forcibly dislodge the protesters justifiable? The answer is an emphatic no. Were water cannons, tear gas canisters or, at worst, rubber bullets not available even if the protesters were to be forcibly dislodged?

Condemnable as the shooting incident was, did it result in the mass murder of a large number of the Lekki protesters as the dominant narrative claims? A national newspaper claimed in its lead story that 49 persons were killed. Amnesty International reports, magisterially, that 12 persons died in the Lekki incident.

The visuals that went viral, which I watched, showed men in the uniform of the Nigerian Army shooting into the air to disperse the protesters. Purported eyewitnesses offer dramatic accounts of soldiers shooting directly at the protesters reportedly with heavy casualties.

I asked someone if undeniable large number of corpses would not be seen at the scene if a band of soldiers trained AK 47 machine guns directly on a large number of protesters and shooting them point blank at close range? He claimed that the soldiers evacuated the dead bodies away from the scene.

In this social media age, would the same sophisticated mobile equipment that vividly captured the soldiers shooting, despite the lights being allegedly switched off, not also have recorded them evacuating dead bodies?

The Lagos State governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who visited the injured in various hospitals as well as visited mortuaries in Lagos that night, stated in his broadcast the number of persons who were injured and treated at various hospitals which he named, saying that two were successfully operated on while two died subsequently. Many continue to dispute his account preferring alternative narratives utterly lacking in credibility.

Happily, even as social media technology has grown in leaps and bounds enabling the medium to more effectively check impunity on the part of public and private authorities, there has also been tremendous advancement in the techniques and facilities for validating the authenticity of material emanating from the social media.

PRNigeria, one outfit that has been doing a great job in this regard in Nigeria, has been exhaustively and clinically interrogating diverse claims on the purported Lekki Massacre. Its findings have been revealing.

PRNigeria’s Editorial Team, according to the media outfit’s Assistant Editor, Mahmood Abdulsalam, found that “So far, most of the footages we have collected, over 100 in all, showing dead protesters and several others wounded, when we subject them to our reverse imagery testing tools, indicated they were not recent while others are manipulated images and doctored videos.

We also observe circulation of old pictures of victims injured and killed during violent skirmishes, unrelated to the #endSARS demonstrations across the country”.

For instance, PRNigeria found out that a Nollywood movie star, Eniola Badmus, who was allegedly shot in the stomach and died at the Lekki Toll Gate, had denied the social media reports.

She wrote on her Instagram page that “Against all speculations about me being shot dead at the unspeakable event that happened at the toll gate a few hours ago, I would like to inform you guys that I Eniola Badmus is hale and hearty. I couldn’t make it there today to lend my voice on the #endSARS movement”.

In another case, a young man, Iraoye Godwin, a native of Otu-Auchi in Edo state who was reported to have been killed also at the Lekki Toll Gate posted a video on twitter denying the report. Again, a photo of a man carrying a dead lady wrapped in Nigerian flag as posted by Yemi Alade was an image from a movie acted with the theme, “Heal our land, OH LORD”.

According to the PRNigeria report, “There was also a video of one Lucia Adu who was celebrated as a martyr at Lekki Massacre after dancing in the clip. Some of the social media posts celebrating her ‘Martyrdom’ read: “She was dancing an hour before she was murdered by the Nigerian armed forces…a bullet hit her in the face and ripped half her face off”.

Latest investigation shows that Lucia Adu died from an accident with a stationary truck on 20th October, 2020. This is also confirmed by a new fact checking twitter handle on #endSARS – https:/twitter.com/end SARSFctcheck”.

The Executive Director of PRNigeria, Mr. Yushua A. Shuaib, a humanitarian worker and crisis management communicator who has worked extensively with the media, the security and response agencies over the last decade, reached out to media executives in various traditional and online mediums, whom he specifically named, to help in facilitating the gathering of evidence on the alleged massacre.

In his words, “In fairness to the media and civil society groups, they all spoke about relying on eyewitness accounts mostly from celebrities and social media influencers without subjecting the information received to rigorous verification. There was also the admission that there was no authenticated footage of the said “massacre” at Lekki Toll Gate so far”.

Continuing, Shuaib writes, “In the aftermath of this confusion, the largest social media platforms, Facebook and Instagram, have continued to flag several contents containing the alleged images of the Lekki Massacre as false information, after these were subjected to scrutiny by independent fact checkers”.

It was interesting watching Osai Ojigho, Country Director of Amnesty International in Nigeria, when she appeared on The Arise Interview television programme to speak about the organization’s claim that at least 12 people were killed at the Lekki Toll Plaza.

As she rambled on extensively, the anchor of the programme, Charles Aniagolu, interjected saying “I think the point here Osai is that you’ve made some very good points there about the expectations of the people from the army and the government but people also want to be absolutely 100% sure about the evidence Amnesty International is putting forward with regard to these killings..

Politics / Endsars: Inside Pmb’s Parley With Former Heads Of State — Femi Adesina by Fastnewsnigeria: 10:42am On Oct 30, 2020

EndSARS: Inside PMB’s Parley With Former Heads Of State — Femi Adesina

It was very touching, poignant, as President Muhammadu Buhari met with all living former heads of state on October 23, 2020, to discuss the state of the nation.

For about two weeks, the country had been suffused with unrest, later violence, precipitated by what began as legitimate protests against police brutality, code-named #EndSARS. In the words of the President, the protests were later “hijacked and misdirected “ by hidden hostile hands, who wanted to destabilize the country.

Lives had been lost in scores, countless public and private properties burnt, there was murder and mayhem everywhere. So it was needful that all former leaders of the country meet to put heads together, and fashion pragmatic ways forward.

All those who had ruled the country, and who were still alive, turned out for motherland, in the virtual meeting hosted by President Buhari. Imagine the collective weight of age and experience in that room. General Yakubu Gowon, 86, had ruled for nine years. President Olusegun Obasanjo, 83, had led cumulatively as military and civilian leader for 11 years. Gen Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, 79, held sway for eight years, while Chief Ernest Shonekan of the Interim National Government lasted only about 84 days, before the military struck.

Gen Abdulsalami Abubakar, 78, administered the country for just about one year, while Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, 62, superintended over the land for six years.

All that weight of experience was available at the meeting on that day, for the country to draw from, in restoring peace and cohesion after about two angry weeks.

Fittingly, the opening remarks were given by Gen Gowon, after the National Anthem. He was not only the oldest among the former leaders, he stayed longest, and was most senior in terms of hierarchy.

‘Go On With One Nigeria’ (Gowon) thanked President Buhari for accepting to host the meeting, and said what had started peacefully, and now taken over by “organized miscreants in Lagos and other parts of the country “ was of great concern to them.

“Peace and genuine protests by youths have been hijacked,” he lamented, and wished the youths had stood down after their initial requests had been granted by government.

Drawing from experiences in 1967, before the Nigerian Civil War, Gen Gowon gave some recipes for the government to consider.

President Buhari made remarks next. He gave the former leaders a comprehensive brief on all that had happened since the protests began, up to his address to the nation, which had come up only the previous night. He enumerated what government had been doing to meet the needs of youths, and make life better for them.

The President did not mince words that what started as legitimate protest by youths, was hijacked and misdirected by enemies of the country.

Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo spoke next. We know his antagonism to the government of the day, which had returned to power last year for a second term in office, in spite of an anti-Buhari coalition put together by Obasanjo.

Would sparks fly? Would there be barbs and snide remarks? The fears turned out to be unfounded. The former President was frank, but affable, and no tension was discerned.

“Let me commend your speech of last night, which the nation had been waiting for,” Obasanjo began. “You made points that I believe need to be commended. You said peaceful protests were part of democratic practice. You also indicated that the demands of the genuine protesters had been accepted, and you were working on implementation.”

The former President said the activities of hoodlums who hijacked the protests should be condemned, “as they took away the protests from those who initially planned them.”

On the job and economic situation in the country, he said the interventions being made were good, but not far-reaching enough for a population of 200 million people.

“We need heavy local and international investments to make the impact we need to make. Our Foreign Direct Investment is inadequate. And we need to get better results in security, so that the investments can come, “ he submitted.

When it was the turn of General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB) to speak, the President called out to him: “Ibro, it’s your turn.” There was general laughter. That must have been how the President addressed his colleague as Comrade-at-arms in the military.

IBB condoled with the families of those who died in the protests and riots. But he expressed concern on the quality of intelligence available to the security agencies.

“With adequate intelligence, some of these things can be nipped in the bud,” he stated, adding: “I commend the government for the efforts so far, to end the protests.”

Chief Ernest Shonekan was brief. Preventive actions were to be considered for the future, rather than curative. He added: “please call us for more of these meetings. We need to frequently discuss very important national issues.”

General Abdulsalami Abubakar also talked about the need for intelligence gathering and synergy among the security agencies, whom he says should avoid “multiple mandates.”

He canvassed more interaction with the international community, so that they can adequately understand what is going on in Nigeria.

“Funding of security agencies should also be looked into, while the media should be adequately engaged,” the former head of state added.

The youngest of them all, and the immediate past President, Dr Goodluck Jonathan, began by saying he didn’t have the confidence to call the former leaders “my colleagues.” So, he opted for “my most senior colleagues.”

Crime / Rivers State Police Declares War On IPOB, Criminals In Rivers State by Fastnewsnigeria: 6:01pm On Oct 29, 2020
Rivers State Police Declares War On IPOB Members, Criminals in Rivers State.

Rivers State Commissioner of Police, CP Joseph Mukan has declared total war against the miscreants who attacked and looted Police Stations in Oyigbo LGA.

CP Mukan made the declaration during a meeting with DPOs and the Heads of Tactical Units in the Command.

He gave the senior police officers the marching order to deploy both Intelligence and Patrols across the Command within the next 48hrs, to ensure that the items looted are recovered and perpetrators arrested with immediate effect.

The charge comes days after the Command paraded twenty-one suspects who are being prosecuted.

The CP further warned members of the proscribed Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPOB to relocate from the State as machinery have been put in place to fish them out and deal with them as a Terrorist group.

”Again the CP for the umpteenth time wishes to reiterate emphatically that Rivers State is not an IPOB State and will deal decisively with any group that carries out activities under that guise or any guise whatsoever.

“IPOB has been outlawed by both the Federal and State Governments and to that extent is non-existent anywhere else, including Rivers State.

“Hence, Parents and Guardians should warn their Children/Wards to be law-abiding or else bear the full weight of the law,” Spokesman of the Command, SP Nnamdi Omoni said a statement.

He further enjoined members of the public to increase their security consciousness and report any suspicious character or the whereabouts of any of the looted property to the nearest Police Station.

Politics / Nnamdi Kanu - Arewa, Others Trying To Reenact 1966 Coup by Fastnewsnigeria: 11:18am On Oct 29, 2020
Nnamdi Kanu , Leader of the IPOB (Indigenous People of Biafra) has described accusations from Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) and other mischief makers that IPOB killed some northerners living in Biafraland particularly in Rivers State during the #EndSARS nationwide protests as failed efforts to twist glaring facts.

Nnamdi Kanu  said in a statement by IPOB Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, on Thursday the accusations were targeted at isolating Ndigbo and other Biafrans living in the north for possible extermination as it happened after the 1966 coup.

“We gather that some northern reactionary groups have joined the fray- all targeted at isolating Ndigbo and other Biafrans living in the north for possible extermination as they did after the 1966 coup, which they cleverly tagged an Igbo coup to suit their genocidal purposes.”

“First it was some ethnic jingoists that began to peddle this wicked narrative in a failed effort to twist glaring facts.

“They accused IPOB of hiding under the protests to destroy Yoruba property in Lagos, another black lie engineered by agents of neocolonialism and southern weaklings submissive to the caliphate agenda.”

While blaming the government for the rented thugs that unleashed mayhem on protesters, he noted the #EndSars protests were a spontaneous reaction of angry youths against army, police brutality and bad governance.

Nnamdi Kanu  noted the protests were very peaceful until the 12th day when soldiers shot protesters at Lekki and other parts of the country.

“Nigerian youths quite rightly retaliated these barbaric killings by Nigeria’s overzealous security operatives. The reprisal attacks occurred in different parts of the country and not limited to Biafraland.”

Nnamdi Kanu queried: “How come the enemies of Biafra are now beginning to point accusing finger at IPOB? Are they telling us IPOB are responsible for the burning of Igbo properties and the car Mart at Apo Villa Abuja?

“What about the destruction of Igbo properties in Kano, Lagos and the killing of Igbos in Obigbo Rivers State where Fulani thugs backed by soldiers were caught on camera attacking Biafrans in broad daylight?

“Maybe the people in dark suits ferrying thugs with DSS SUV Jeeps to attack protesters in Abuja were IPOB members. Or the people that used Lagos State owned BRT buses to ferry known thugs from Mushin to protest grounds to hack innocent protesters to death are also IPOB family members.

“The supporter of APC reprobates that attacked Apo mechanic village were they IPOB family members? The criminals that destroyed properties at Nnewi under the supervison of a local politician are they too IPOB members?

“It is imperative we remind Nigerians, particularly the core Arewa north, that IPOB does not engage in barbaric acts like killings and destruction of properties like Fulani terrorists, including those in military and police uniforms. We are not like any of the numerous Fulani terrorist groups killing, raping and pillaging at will and we do not intend to become one.

“It’s very appalling that enemies of freedom and caliphate slaves, with the support of traitors and selfish politicians are busy twisting the narrative to blackmail IPOB. We know their game plan.

“They are seeking to justify their long held desire to militarize Biafraland using the purported destruction of property as an excuse.”

Nnamdi Kanu  said that such lame excuse cannot fly as it was on record that Biafraland was not the only place where there was destruction of properties during the#EndSARS protests.

“Casualty figures were even higher in some states outside Biafra, yet the ongoing heavy deployment of soldiers in Biafraland, especially in Imo State is not witnessed anywhere else. Shame on the criminal political class for conniving with age long enemies of Biafra to bring war to Biafraland.

“We cannot be intimidated any more. They have shown us that we can never be accepted in their one Nigeria and they cannot deploy Boko Haram terrorists in military uniform in our land to kill us in cold blood and expect us not to defend ourselves and our land.”
