I was in discussion with a nairaland tech few months ago. He was able to tell me the truth about these gadgets available in Nigeria. The commonly Chinese available gadgets for solar system in Nigeria are mainly from China and don't last long. They cost a lot and warranty on them not more than few months to a year. So he advised I source for my gadgets from the US and gave me names and list of dependable gadgets to buy from the US. Oh boy . The gadgets in the US cost thrice the readily available Chinese gadgets in Nigeria. We were looking at 4-5kva capacity for my consumption. 8 Batteries alone to cost me $4000 at $499.99 each. Charger, inverter, panels etc running into another $4000.

There is this gentleman in property section who is based in Germany that gave me a link for European gadgets as well. The European package suitable for my consumption that I saw online was in the region of 8000 euro.

$8000 or 8000 euro no be beans o. I can't afford to spend that on a house I only want to spend few weeks there in a year.

The battery life is my concern. On average, you have to replace 8 batteries every three years. 8 batteries from the US is around $4000.

I was at a park yesterday and I saw this gen in operation and it was super quiet. I was completely blown away with its quietness.

Not going to be cheap, not sure if they have it in Nigeria but man this thing is quiet. Noise is my number one beef with generators.

This gen is super quiet. It is sold less than three miles from my house. I would have bought it if this generator is powered by diesel. I don't want petrol wahala when it comes to fire. I'm staying away from petrol powered generator.

the problem of bayern started with baldiola.

Jupp left a very balanced team, Both in defence and attack.

Baldiola came with his useless philosophy of all attack no defence. Trying to make barcelona out of bayern instead of building on the success of jupp.
He forgot that what worked for barca may not work for bayern.
He ran away from his failure and left behind a terrible ageing team with couple of terrible signings.

God bless you. I once discussed this with dayokanu between 2015/2016 season that Guadiola was tearing a good squad apart. Jupp left a balanced team but Guadiola came and dismissed some good players and also utilized some players in wrong positions. Can anyone tell me who was brought in to replace Kroos? Can anyone tell me the reason why Gaidiola moved Martinez into the defense and destroyed his confidence? This same Gaudiola moved Philip Lahm from right back to midfield. For what reason for God sake? Gaudiola dismissed young promising players in Shakiri and Gustavo. Why did he sell Shakiri and bring in Conman? Shakiri is a better player than Conman. The players that were crucial to the winning season under Jupp were let go.The team was set-up with two balanced formations of 4-4-2 and 4-3-3 under Jupp. Alaba has never progressed since Gaidiola came to Bayern Munchen. Alaba is only good when he has a left winger (#11) in front of him to help him out. Does anyone know why Muller hasn't been the same since Jupp left? I know why. Muller is only good being played in the hole in a 4-4-2 formation or on the right side of the front three in the 4-3-3 formation. Muller has regressed due to over tweeking of formation Guardiola did at Bayern Munich. Muller didn't understand what he was doing under Gaudiola. Muller always look lost in the final third.

Like we always say in America, "if ain't broke, don't fix it". Gaudiola brought so much destruction to Bayern Munich with his over tinkering of formations and tactics. He played players out of positions and many of these players lost confidence. These players haven't been the same since Jupp left and Gaudiola came with his over tinkering. The only reason players did not revolt under Gaudiola was because of his succees while at Barcelona. If not, Gaudiola wouldn't have lasted a full season.

While lightning arrestor setups are considered a luxury by some, it is one you should get if you can afford it. It is better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it. Low buildings can get struck by lightning too. And if you have sensitive equipments it'll be a disaster.

As for general earthing of Distribution boards sockets etc, that is not even up for discussion. It is an absolute necessity.

Him: We did not do earthing / arrestor as it's a bungalow and it is really not necessary to have it in a building such as urs.


The house is not a small bungalow and I need to ask people who know more about electrical stuff than I do.

Picture 1. I got an aluminum pipe sample which is thick enough to serve as a good barrier that keeps intruders out
Picture 2. Trying to compare between the aluminum pipe, a 3/4 galvanized pipe and a 1" galvanized rod to compare the thickness, the aluminum wins.

Where do we strike the balance when it comes to using prison like burglary proof when it comes to fire outbreak? Does burglary proof really provide safety? The burglary proof I see being used in Nigeria scares the hell out of me. Burglary cannot stop determined intruders as we know it. It can only slow them down for few minutes. How do we escape fire outbreak when we have the windows and doors all braced with burglary proof? I am yet to get answer to this question from people.

Voltage is a lesser consideration as you can always use a step down transformer.

However, be sure the climate class is compatible with ours(SN/T) else it will overwork itself in vain trying to cool at our high ambient temperature.

Check the Input Voltage and frequency on the appliance, then find a Voltage converter (Stepdown Transformer) with a corresponding/matching Output Voltage & frequency.
