The President Muhammadu Buhari administration has moved to boost the relationship between Nigeria and China.

China and Nigeria have agreed on strengthening military and security cooperation.

Col. Liu Yongxuan, Defence Attaché of the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria said this at an occasion to mark the 91st anniversary of the founding of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) in Abuja on Tuesday.

NAN quoted Liu as saying both countries shared similarities in contributing to global peace and security.

“China has always been a builder of world peace, a contributor of world development and an upholder of international order.

“Nigeria has dispatched military personnel to participate in UN peacekeeping operations since its independence and the total number is up to 100,000, one of the largest among African countries.

“This year, Chinese Naval warship for the first time participated in the joint maritime exercises hosted by Nigerian Navy and has given impetus to the call by the Nigerian Government for a combined maritime force in the Gulf of Guinea.

“Under the principle of Mutual Assistance, the military and security partnership and cooperation between our two countries will be further strengthened,” he said.

He also expressed confidence in increased cooperation between both countries in areas of common interest through the promotion of the “One Belt and One Road” initiative.

Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar commended the efforts of the PLA in promoting world peace and global order.

Abubakar, who was represented by Chief of Aircraft Engineering, Air Vice Marshal Abdulganiyu Olabisi, said that military cooperation between both countries “was growing”.

“One thing I can take away from their development is I see hope for Nigeria and other African countries, looking at the humble beginnings of the People’s Liberation Army.

“There are also examples of your collaboration with other countries across the world and on that note, I want to say that the military bilateral relations between China and Nigeria have been growing especially in the past decade.

“We do appreciate your invaluable contributions to our counterinsurgency operations. We are hopeful that this relationship will be strengthened for the mutual benefit of our countries.”

A Samsung Galaxy S7 shocked its user when it suddenly exploded in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city. This isn’t the first time we’ve heard about such incidents, there have been lots of reported cases of mobile phones suddenly exploding. According to Nigerian Twitter user, Plangkat Miller-Ham (@peekaymila), he said a friend’s Samsung Galaxy S7 suddenly exploded in his office at the capital city.



From the Twitter post, the device is still on the table where it exploded. Although, he didn’t specify if it exploded while the friend was charging it or if the phone was being overused. However, he warned smartphone users not to ignore precaution messages sent to them by their mothers.
He wrote: “My colleague’s Samsung Galaxy S7 just exploded on his table. Those whatsapp messages our mothers’ have been sending us are true, guys.”

Within hours, the tweet went viral with almost a thousand retweets and Samsung’s official Twitter account replied him.

The support account apologized for replying late and asked him if everyone at his office is doing well.

The peace talk between the United States and North Korea might be a mirage following a new twist of events.


Trump warns Kim Jong-un of North Korea to denuclearise or be overthrown

U.S. President Donald Trump has told North Korea’s Kim Jong-Un to abandon nuclear weapons and be rewarded with “protections” or risk being overthrown and possible death if the arsenal remains.

The U.S. leader laid out the stark choice for North Korea’s leader ahead of their planned summit in Singapore on June 12, according to media reports.

Trump maintained that the scheduled June 12 meeting in Singapore was on track, in spite of the North’s threat on Wednesday to cancel over concerns about the U.S. push to see the complete denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula.

North Korea had argued it needed its nuclear weapons to preserve its security, and had expressed concerns about giving up on its nuclear weapon.

The country cited the example of former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, who had given up his nuclear programme in the 2000s but died at the hands of rebel forces amid a popular uprising in October 2011.

National Security Adviser John Bolton explicitly cited, “the Libya model of 2003 to 2004” as a basis for the North Korea talks in May, which drew personal rebuke from the North Korean government on Wednesday.

Trump, while trying to address the North Korean concerns, said if Kim were to agree to denuclearise, “he’ll get protections that would be very strong”.

Trump, however, warned that failure to make a deal could have grave consequences for Kim.

On the ‘Libya model’, Trump said: “That model would take place if we don’t make a deal”.

“The Libyan model isn’t the model we have at all. In Libya we decimated that country. There was no deal to keep Gaddafi,” Trump added.

The U.S. leader said he was “willing to do a lot” to provide security guarantees to Kim adding, “the best thing he could do is make a deal”.

Trump also suggested China was influencing North Korea’s thinking regarding the summit, pointing to Kim’s visit to China immediately before U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo visited Pyongyang last week to finalise the summit date and location.

Trump, however, said that nothing had changed with respect to North Korea after the warning from Pyongyang.

He said that North Korean officials were discussing logistical details about the meeting with the U.S. “as if nothing happened”.

In addition to threatening to pull out of the meeting with Trump, North Korea abruptly cancelled a planned meeting with South Korean officials over joint U.S.-South Korean military exercise.

Pentagon Spokeswoman Dana White said that the schedule of military exercises had not changed.

White added that the annual exercises were long-planned, defensive in nature and meant to ensure the readiness of U.S. and South Korean forces.

‘Exercise Max Thunder, which began on Monday and concludes on May 25, includes aircraft from across the U.S. military services.

The 2017 exercise included roughly 1,200 U.S. personnel and about 640 South Koreans, and the 2018 drill is similar.

Speaking at an Oval Office meeting with NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg, Trump also said he would not discuss U.S. troop levels in South Korea during his meeting with Kim.

North Korea had said it would not return to talks with South Korea due to the exercises.

It was gathetered that the suspect used knife to butcher her and equally tried to escape before he was arrested by the Police.

Reports have it that trouble started when the Nigerian man after sleeping with her, couldn't pay the girl the amount he promised which caused misunderstanding between both of them.

Following reports in the media that suspected cultists allegedly implicated some influential politicians, the Kwara State Ministry of Justice has cleared the air.

The Kwara State Ministry of Justice has said that the suspected cultists arrested in the state did not implicate anybody in their confessional statement contrary to reports by an online media.

The Director of Public Prosecution in the state ministry, Mr. Jimoh Mumini, disclosed this in a statement issued to newsmen on Saturday.

He described as untrue the story in the media which alleged that the suspects implicated Senate President Bukola Saraki and Kwara state Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed, stressing that there was no truth in the story.

He described the report as the work of mischief makers.

The attention of the Kwara State Ministry of Justice has been drawn to a story published by an online medium that the suspected cultists arrested and interrogated by the Police in Ilorin and recommended for trial by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) but suddenly transferred to Police Headquarters, Abuja, had in their statement indicted some top personalities.

We want to state categorically that there is no iota of truth in the said story. Our belief that the said story is false arose from the fact that the summary of the statement voluntarily made by the suspects and on the basis of which they were recommended for trial in Ilorin is contained in the press statement read by the Police Commissioner on May 10, 2018. We maintain that there was no portion of the press statement where the suspects were said to have indicted any top personality.

For emphasis, let us restate the fact that on the basis of the statement obtained from the accused, the Police had issued a statement read publicly at the May 10 press conference in the state capital and there was no mention of their naming or implicating any top government official at the state or federal level.

The State Ministry of Justice had in fact filed charges in the High Court against the accused persons and we stand by the pending charges and the trial process already lawfully initiated in Ilorin.

We hereby call on members of the public to disregard and ignore the publication as the medium on which it appeared is widely known to suffer credibility problem.

At no time was any influence, whatsoever, exerted to pervert the course of justice, nor monetary transaction or any exchange of pecuniary benefit made between the learned DPP and the Commissioner of Police with respect to this particular case or any other case for that matter.

We boldly state that at no time ever since the resumption of duties of the Commissioner of Police in charge of the Kwara State Police Command has there been any opportunity, for the learned DPP to have any discussion, whatsoever, with him.

Therefore, all insinuations relating to undue influence through offer of gratifications or any other means, made by the discredited online publication are mere figment of the imagination and misguided attempt by the sponsor of the online medium aimed at tarnishing the image of the learned DPP, Mr. JIMOH ADEBIMPE MUMINI Esq. This campaign of calumny against the DPP by the sponsor(s) of the online publication is politically motivated and will definitely fail.

The Commissioner of police or the authors of the defamatory article aimed at tarnishing the image of the learned DPP are hereby challenged to make public any evidence of any discussion or transaction, whatsoever, between the Commissioner of Police and the learned DPP, MR. J.A MUMINI aimed at influencing or subverting the course of justice in this direction.

The video of Philomina Chieshe, a sales clerk in the office of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) in Benue state, saying a snake mysteriously swallowed the missing N36m, has surfaced. The video was released about 24 hours after Chieshe denied that she never said, the money was swallowed by snake.
In the new video released by The Sun, Chieshe told board members that the money got missing in a “mysterious” way.
She said:
“It is a mystery. I myself, whenever I am taking the money to the bank, I am not able to account for what I got, until my house help, when we went for confession, fell down and confessed in Jos when prayers started,” Chieshe said in the video.
“And she said a lot of things that she is the one behind what is happening to me at the office
“That there is a snake that comes mysteriously whenever I open the safe and swallows the cash.
“Mysteriously, nothing was amounting to what I was having.”

Tragedy struck yesterday in the refuse dump area of Kubwa , Abuja, after a woman, Rukayat Abdulkareem , allegedly killed her rival’s son. The incident happened at about 10 pm.
Rukayat was said to have stabbed, Awal Sani, during an altercation with his mother. Awal, 18, a 200 level Statistics student of University of Abuja, was said to have tried to calm Rukayat when she insulted his mother.
It was learnt that Awal was billed to resume school on Monday, January 15, 2018.
A younger brother to the late Awal’s mother, who lives with them, recalled the incident saying: “Around 10 to 10:30pm yesterday, I heard someone banging on the door, I came outside and asked her what she wanted and she said she was looking for her husband.
I know the woman, they were living close to us here in Pipeline before they packed to Kaduna road.
I told her that i would check and see if I can call the husband for her, I went inside, I met my sister and informed her that the man’s wife was outside looking for him.
My sister said she was going to meet the woman, i tried to stop her, i told her she was not the one the woman came for but she insisted so i followed her cause i didn’t want any problem.
“We met the woman and then I realised that if they start talking, it may result to another thing. So, I asked my sister to go inside while I went to Pipeline Police Station; I invited a policeman, he asked the woman what the problem was; she said she was here to see her husband.
The policeman asked her to follow him to the station so she can write a statement and they will return to pick her husband but she said she was not going anywhere so the policeman left.
“I went inside the house and the next thing I heard was that they had stabbed Awal, I rushed out, we did all we could to save him, we rushed him to the hospital and the doctor confirmed him dead and we brought him back home.
She had left when i rushed out but the vigilante security men caught and brought her later and kept her till the police arrived”.
One of Awal’s friends, who asked not to be named also recalled his last moments saying: “I have known him for about ten years.
Last night, we were sitting outside together, I was lifting weight under the tree, he came outside and met me and said he wanted to go and change his phone(from a man he bought it from).
We went there and the man asked us to return today to get the phone we want, we walked back home, bought suya on the way and sat on the bench under the tree chatting about how he was getting ready to return to school.
As we sat there, a slim woman who covered her head with a veil walked past us, i greeted her the islamic way, (As-salamu alaykum )but she did not respond.
Awal later went in to sleep but I stayed back still lifting my weight, after a while, the woman came back, she had been hiding behind the mosque next to the building, she flashed her phone torch in my direction but I ignored her and continued with what I was doing, she then opened the back door of the car and sat in the back seat, she was still inside the car when I went to my own house to sleep.
I was trying to sleep around 11pm when my brother came to call me to come outside, that they have stabbed my friend, I rushed outside and saw him in a pool of his own blood with his mother trying to control the blood.
We rushed him to a General Hospital; we have all been crying since 11pm last night, his mother even fainted twice”.
Awal’s sister, Fatima Sani, a Higher National Diploma (HND II) student of Abdul Gusau Polytechnic in Zamfara State, was also stabbed by Rukayat said: “A woman (Rukayat Abdulkareem) came here yesterday and claimed to have issues with my mother. She was busy insulting my mother outside, my mom came out and requested that a policeman should be called for her.
They called the policeman, he came and the woman was invited to follow them to their station but she declined and said she was not going to follow them because she did not have any issue with them.
Right there and then, the policeman said since she refused to follow them to the station, whatever happens to her is at her own risk. Unknown to us that she already had her plan well cooked.
She was still there insulting my mother, my junior brother, Awal got provoked and went to ask why the woman was insulting his mother despite not getting response from my mother and of course that is expected of a real son who is not a bastard but before we knew it, he was stabbed directly in the heart.
I went out to see what was happening and she also stabbed me on my palm and I was also lost lots of blood. My mom who happened to be a nurse tried to run all her first aid but it was not working, we rushed him to General Hospital and by the time we got there, the doctors confirmed him dead.
Contacted, the spokesman of FCT Police Command, Mr. Anjuguri Manzah, a Deputy Supretendent of Police(DSP) said the case had been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID)for discreet investigation.
”We have received the complaint and the case has been transferred to Command CID for discreet investigation. The suspects including the alleged killer and the husband are also in our custody”.

One good favour you can do for yourself this fasting season is to forgive all who have offended you unconditionally. It is not just because the God you have been worshipping demands it; it is good for your health and general well-being.

Forgiving people who have hurt you badly is not an easy thing to do, but if it stands between you and God’s blessing there may be no options for you.

Forgiveness is “replacing the bitter, angry feelings of vengefulness often resulting from a hurt, with positive feelings of goodwill toward the offender” according to researchers.

According to Dr. Glen Mack Harnden of the University of Kansas, “It not only heightens the potential for reconciliation, but also releases the offended from prolonged anger, rage, and stress that have been linked to physiological problems, such as cardiovascular diseases, high blood pressure and other psychosomatic illnesses.”

Author and seminary professor emeritus Lewis Smedes writes: “human forgiveness had been seen as a religious obligation of love that we owe to the person who has offended us. The discovery that I made was the important benefit that forgiving is to the forgiver.”

What forgiveness involves

Experts say: “Forgiveness involves a sense of loving detachment, which is the ability to show compassion without trying to control outcomes. In the same way that letting go requires opening one’s hands, practicing forgiveness requires opening one’s heart. Just as it is only with an open heart that we are able to forgive, it is only with a forgiving heart that we are able to love completely.”

It is “a shift in thinking” toward someone who has wronged you, “such that your desire to harm that person has decreased and your desire to do him good (or to benefit your relationship) has increased.


But hard as it seems, even before we are rewarded with the open gates of heaven, there is a whole lot to benefit from forgiveness here on earth.

Direct benefits

Forgiveness does more for the victim than anyone else because it liberates the individual from negativity, making him or her move on with life. It releases the individual from the trap of endless revenge into a world of increased joy and connection.

Experts have discovered that several things occur once the forgiveness process is complete. First, our negative feelings disappear. We do not feel the same way when we run into the people who hurt us. Harsh feeling is replaced by concern, pity, or empathy, but not resentment.

Second, we find it much easier to accept the people who have hurt us without feeling the need to change them. We are willing to take them just the way they are. Once the blinders of resentment have been removed from our eyes, we will have a new appreciation of their situation and motivation.

Third, concern about our offenders’ needs will outweigh concern about what they did to us. Instead of concentrating only on ourselves, we will be able to see that the individuals who have hurt us are people with legitimate needs of their own.

Forgiveness improves health

Perhaps more urgently, it has been discovered that the victim’s health depends on the forgiveness, perhaps more than the offender’s.

Investigating the relationship between forgiveness and psychological and physiological indices in cardiac patients, Friedberg, Friedberg and Srinivas discovered that forgiveness is associated with better psychological and physical health and in particular cardiovascular functioning.

The findings show that the psychological correlates of forgiveness are similar in cardiac patients and healthy individuals. Also, among cardiac patients, forgiveness may be associated with reduced risk for future cardiovascular events.

Now, from the growing body of research on forgiveness are discoveries that people who forgive are more likely than the general population to have:

Fewer episodes of depression

Higher self-esteem

More friends

Longer marriages


Lower blood pressure

Closer relationships

Fewer stress-related health issues

Better immune system function

Lower rates of heart disease

Forgiveness is intertwined with many emotions – resentment, grief, rage, sadness, hurt, betrayal, vulnerability, anger and fear are often part of the experience.

Now we know

Interestingly, many people didn’t know all that until recently. Some 26 years ago when Dr. Robert Enright, first got interested in forgiveness, his colleagues thought he’d lost his mind. “They said, ‘How can a scientist study something so fluffy?’”

Enright, who is now a professor of educational psychology at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, sees forgiveness as a moral imperative first (turn the other cheek because it’s the right thing to do) and a practical matter second (and, oh yes, doing so will probably make your life better)

Unforgiveness

The consequences of unforgiveness are grave. Apart from blocking prayers, it eats the individual up physically and psychologically. There are even unimaginable consequences like this one shared by Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God. “A woman came to us at the church in Ebute-Metta, Lagos, in the early 80’s. Out of fear, she had lived in 22 houses in Lagos before coming to us for prayers.

“What happened? She had had a quarrel with her husband and decided she would never forgive him in spite of all the pleas. And so God handed her over to the spirit of fear.

“She was always afraid that someone was going to kill her. She therefore suspected most of the people she came in contact with were planning to kill her. She kept on running from house to house until she came to the church. “She said to us, ‘I’m sure I’m safe here in this mission house; nobody can touch me here.’

“Then one morning she woke up and took a good look at the Assistant General Overseer and said, “This is the leader of those who want to kill me.” From that we knew something was seriously wrong. We appealed to her to forgive her husband, but she refused. She kept on running from house to house and never found any peace.”

“If you want progress, prosperity, forgiveness and mercy, forgive those who offend you. Release them from your heart.”

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, NAPTIP, has engaged the services of local witch doctors in Benin, Edo State to curb trafficking in persons.

The state, and in particular its capital city, Benin, is reputed to have the largest cases of human trafficking in Nigeria.

NAPTIP said it has gathered witch doctors in the city and made them ambassadors in fighting the menace.

According to a report by The Punch newspaper, the Director General of NAPTIP, Julie Okah-Donli, disclosed this at a symposium for the agency’s officials in Abuja on Monday.

“When we gathered these witch doctors recently to sensitise them on what human trafficking victims go through in Europe, they were shocked.

“And they have made their commitments to work with us to fight the menace of human trafficking,” the Okah-Donli said.

Edo indigenes, particularly the women, reportedly started migrating to Italy in the early 1990s for greener pastures and majority were engaged in prostitution. It became a thriving business for them and they started creating cartels all over Europe.

The NAPTIP boss said investigations revealed that some local witch doctors were involved or used in the trafficking of persons to Europe.

She said the agency would involve and sensitise more witch doctors in Edo and other parts of the country and make them NAPTIP ambassadors in fighting human trafficking.

7️. Men complain that their wives don’t look the same as when they first met. A lot of men have pot bellies too. Work on your physical appearance.

8️. Listen to her. No matter how tired or busy you are. Listen to her and gossip with her.
If you don’t appreciate your wife. She may seek appreciation elsewhere. It’s a full time job to be a good wife. Make it a full time job to be a good husband.

According to the report making the round on social media, the victims were c@ught in the act and were str*pped n*ked, beaten and set ablaze on the street by residents of the area.

However, the Benue State Police Command has denied knowledge of the report, saying that several efforts to get the details of the report had proved abortive.

Speaking with DAILY POST on Thursday evening, the Benue State Police PRO, Moses Yamu said, “We have seen the story on social media but report has not been made.

“I still doubt if this happened in Benue. How can such event happen in Makurdi and the police is not informed? Anyway, we shall let the public know once we are done with our investigations.”

At last 15 persons were feared killed in an outbreak of fighting between suspected Fulani herdsmen and farmers at Ipiga village in Ohimini Local Government Area of Benue state.
Vanguard gathered yesterday from a source in the area that the crisis erupted initially on Sunday afternoon when some armed herdsmen stormed neigbouring Ajegbe village where they grazed and destroyed farmland in the area.

“From there they moved into Ipiga village on Monday morning shooting sporadically, though they met a stiff resistance from the locals.
“A bloody fighting erupted, two of the herdsmen were killed while about 13 of the villagers were also killed though many are still missing and unaccounted for.
When contacted, the Seniour Special Assistant to the Benue State Governor on Fulani Matters, Alhaji Garus Gololo said two herdsmen were killed in the crisis.
Gololo said, “I just came back from the area this afternoon, two herdsmen were killed by the villagers and many cows were also killed and many others were rustled.”

“I met the Ardo of the area and everyone has been warned against any form of reprisal attack and there was nothing like that because the government has warned against this kind of crisis in the state.”
“Though the body of one of the killed herdsmen has been recovered and it’s with the police but the search for the other is still ongoing.”
When contacted, State Police Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent Moses Yamu said he was yet to receive full details of the crisis.
Vanguard recalls that the crisis came barely three days after the state Commissioner of Police, Bashir Makama called a peace meeting of Fulani herdsmen and farmers where he cautioned against the reoccurrence of the clashes.
It also came on the heels of last week’s peace treaty brokered by Benue state Governor, Samuel Ortom and his Nasarawa State counterpart, Tanko Al/makura between neighboring Agatu farmers and Fulani herdsmen.
Despite the peace pact, majority of the people of area and major stakeholders of Agatu had insisted that the peace pact was not binding on the ordinary people of Agatu.

Several persons sustained injury on Friday as unknown gunmen stormed the All Progressives Congress, (APC) Secretariat in Obudu Local Government Area of Cross River State.

The incident occurred as a gubernatorial aspirant of the APC, Mr Venatius Ikem, arrived the party’s secretariat to declare his intention to run for the 2019 governorship election.

Reacting to the attack, the governorship aspirant in a mail to DAILY POST on Saturday urged his supporters to remain calm no matter the provocation.

“Only the guilty who have blood on their hands will be caught in such violence”, he declared.

“What happened at Obudu yesterday was a study in shame and APC at the highest level has decided and will take up the matter. Those who say they were not PDP thugs should not be in a hurry because we have evidence with everybody in various video clips that have been sent to Police HQ.

“Everybody will hear from the police soon. I urge our teeming APC supporters once again to continue to show maturity and courage under fire and most importantly refrain from retaliating with violence. We aspire to lead and we will not allow them to drag us to their level. The truth is in the process of being unveiled.

“The plans of the Gov to use violence to remain in office beyond 2019 are being practiced and we are happy that God has used the Obudu APC once again to expose those plans in time.

“This is the 3rd such attack on APC at Obudu while conducting their internal party activities. I believe the party is taking notes that will be useful in planning against such dastardly acts in the forth coming general elections.

“To my brothers in PDP, I urge you to see clearly that Ayade has lost any semblance of credibility amongst his own people and can only use violence, even when APC is having their internal party business. How unfortunate! I will speak at the appropriate time and you will hear from me”, he stated.

She was allegedly kidnapped by her driver and some of his friends, r*ped and then buried in a shallow grave.

Investigations by the police led to the arrest of the said driver and his friends. They led the police to the shallow grave where they dumped her body. Her remains was later exhumed.
