Do it Bro... It's a great place.

quality of living - value for money
rent - affordable
feeding expenses - cheap
tax - reasonable. Nothing crazy like UK
transportation - 25leva or so will get you around Sofia for a month
security - good
weather - not bad
Community engagement - depends on you. If you like engagement/meeting people, there are various ways to accomplish that.

Johnbosco1:
Hi Nairalanders in the building,

Please can someone tell me how life is for immigrants in Bulgaria? I'm looking for specific details as quality of living, rent, feeding expenses, tax, transportation, security, weather and community engagement.

I'm considering a relocation based on a job so I'm doing a bit of a research. I have read as many articles I can find online and have also spoken to some locals (Bulgarian colleagues), but I just want to hear from my Naija families who are living or had lived in Bulgaria.

Your contributions are highly appreciated .

To the best of my knowledge, you will not be required to pay anything.

Sageadomichael:

Hi, so the DHL at Bulgaria sent some delivery locations in Lagos they can deliver to and I chose the Dhl service point at Airport road, Ikeja.
The expenses of the delivery are being paid by the sender, will I be required to pay anything for pickup at the service point?

Please do you know the days/weeks it'd take to get it to Lagos if he sends it through UPS or DHL?

He can send via UPS, DHL etc. Pretty straight forward

I hope your doctor friend is not a scam.

Yeah.. Took it out and didn't bother replacing.

Well, still worth checking if there's a blockage in the exhaust I guess.

DanielsParker:

Thanks for your input. How were you able to solve that? Did you take out the catalyst?
Last I checked, I’ve got no catalyst but just net inside there, could it be the cause ?
Car Talk / Re: Club-Lexus by Favouredforever: 4:53pm On Jul 02, 2022
So I heard.. Was lucky I guess

9icetoo:

You are lucky it's not a Honda.
That engine would have been toast.
Car Talk / Re: Club-Lexus by Favouredforever: 2:00pm On Jul 02, 2022
Oluwaseunla might be right with the diagnosis.

I experienced the same with my former Car. Always dragging on acceleration but when it get to 100, it won't accelerate pass that. Turns out the catalyst had broken into pieces making it hard for the exhaust to work effectively. I was lucky it didn't end up causing damage to my engine. Get a good panel beater to check out the exhaust

DanielsParker:

How do I check this ?

Can we connect Cceemmaa?

I think you'll need to do the legalisation. Better to have the documents at hand for smooth application.

Cceemmaa:

I was getting it mixed up.. I thought its the same with the Permanent Resident Permit card they are referring to. Thank you for your time.

Iyfeezone:

You are not an EU citizen nor your wife has a permanent residency. What she has is a student permit. Don’t get it mixed up. Am sorry I have explained enough so you can decide what you want. At least your spouse should explain more better since she is in Bulgaria to give you first hand info. So sorry mate I don’t want to continue such topic again

Thank you for your response, we will do as advised.

However, I understand the official 20 hours per week for students and the need to have adequate funds for the reunification visa. But I have not seen where it was stated that the spouse cannot work tho. If you can help me with any kind of link or document to further make my research I would be grateful.

I found the attached information on the official EU Immigration Portal on non-EU citizen living in Bulgaria which states:

Access to employment

If you have a permanent or long-term residence status and can prove sufficient financial resources, your family members will not need a work permit to access the labour market.

Family members who themselves have permanent or long-term residence status can also access the labour market without a work permit.

The following family members are immediately eligible for permanent residence:

spouse;
children of the third-country national and of his/her spouse, including the adopted children, who have not reached the age of 18 years and are not in matrimony;
children of the third-country national, including adopted children, who are under the age of 18 years and unmarried, in the cases where he/she is entitled to the parental rights and the children are on alimony provided by him/her;

I'm I reading this wrong?

Iyfeezone:

@Favouredforver. Since your spouse is presently in Bulgaria. She can visit the immigration office to ask all necessary questions. Every Thursdays you are allowed to see the director for the section of questions and answers.

Please guys... My Lexus ES330 steering hums. It was like that when I bought the car. Its soft to drive but hums even on slight turn.

Is there any solution apart from replacing the power steering pump?

I've also replaced the oil with the manufacturer recommended oil since I didn't know if the last owner used the right oil. Still, no difference.

What can I do?

Do you have the Lexus ES330 logo. Not the Lexus logo but the ES330.

Also, do you have the steering pump?

If yes, how much?

No idea on this question.

For the last question, things are very affordable in Bulgaria compare to Nigeria. So, what do you think?

Elikayvee:
Hello,
1. Please I have someone that can invite me. If I apply for visiting visa, when I get there can I switch to work?

2. Please what is life in Bulgaria for an immigrant like?.

Thank you
Travel / Re: STUDY IN BULGARIA by Favouredforever: 12:10am On May 08, 2022
Depends on the session, how long you can get your verification, translation and legalisation done. How long it takes the embassy in Sofia to approve your visa application. More importantly, you'll need to showing 6 months bank statement.

Kassidy4luv:
Greetings All.

Can I know the application duration for graduate studies in Bulgaria.

I will only share one with you. You'll have to goggle for the rest. You learn a lot when you apply DIY.

Varna University of Management offer double degree management courses.

Travel / Re: STUDY IN BULGARIA by Favouredforever: 7:29pm On May 02, 2022
Good say Lyfeezone. Just to follow up on this line of question. Kindly see the attached screenshot.

What do you think?

There's a provision for non-EU to apply for family reunification as long as they have PR card that is valid for a year.

Iyfeezone:

@favoured sorry I didn’t respond to your question earlier. So first I will like to asked , is your spouse an EU citizen if yes all you need to do is apply for a spouse visa D which can take up to 90 days timeframe to get the visa. Once you arrive in Bulgaria then you can apply for a family member residency card that allows you to live and work in Bulgaria. In case where both of you are either not EU citizens I don’t it’s possible to come here and live. You can apply for a visitor visa and you will have to return back to Nigeria. To my honest advise is the chances of getting a visitor visa is 5% due to the covid restrictions

I sent you a email Bro.. Let's talk. My wife is also heading to Bulgaria next month.

pass111:

Greetings Iyfeezone, I trust this finds you well.

My work visa has been approved and I intend travelling in the coming weeks.

I just want to get your input on what I should know or have before coming to Bulgaria, or even before booking my flight ticket.

This would be my first time leaving the country, so I would really appreciate if you could enlighten me as much as you can, on things like:

i) My Nigerian phone or account number, what happens to them when I travel, how I can still keep them active, or the possibility of using or linking them to my Bulgarian own.

ii) What I should bring along like clothings, cash, how to go about exchanging the cash, or can I transfer from my Nigerian account to possibly a Bulgarian account? Do I need a domiciliary account?

And generally anything you can advise me on, to bring along, do or know before travelling.

Thank you in anticipation to your response.

I don't want to be too early but I think you are right. Someone replaced the radiator cap with 0.9 size. The ones I've tried are all 1.0

I drove it around this evening and the water did not return to the reserve. No overheating at all. I will returned with further updated when I drive it to the Island and back on Monday.

You might just have saved the car from unnecessarily opening.

zicky:

Had similar issues last year, no leakage, water boils and fill the coolant reserve. I just changed my radiator cap for 1k and that's all

I don't know who these people are.

Dozieson:

Replace is so easy but give it to mechanic like gazzuzz and co that knows their onions. The setting of the timing matters a lot after gasket replacement
Car Talk / Re: Club-Lexus by Favouredforever: 7:42am On Feb 10, 2022
I've changed the radiator cap as well... No difference

Car Talk / Re: Club-Lexus by Favouredforever: 7:42am On Feb 10, 2022
I wasn't going to sell a problematic car. The question I asked was if the gasket turned out to be an issue after I replaced, would it make sense to keep using the car or sell it

Angrygoat:
It will make nigeria a better place, rather than selling the problematic car to an innocent buyer.
Car Talk / Re: Club-Lexus by Favouredforever: 12:38pm On Feb 09, 2022
I will check all that, thank you. The system was bled when the radiator was replaced.

homeboy205:

Check for external leaks, first when coolant leaks, air will be introduced into the system which will make coolant boil.

And hopefully they bleed the system after buying the radiator
Car Talk / Re: Club-Lexus by Favouredforever: 12:35pm On Feb 09, 2022
Sigh! If that is the case, to replace or to sell, what do you suggest?

Dozieson:

This looks like a sign of top gasket failure
