Its all politics bro. With Putin madness they saw an opportunity to reduce chelsea as a club and used it. The Americans stepped in and appointed a British coach knowing fully well they don’t do well at top clubs.

PhonesRe: Why Don’t Nigerians Keep Their Phones In Their Pockets? by FBS: 9:37pm On Jan 12, 2023
Mustiboy:
Everywhere you go, people hold their phones in their hands even when they have absolutely no need for it and the phones would be safer being in their pockets or bags?

Is it some kinda show-off? Cause I could swear this act is more common amongst iPhone users. Are they trying to make a statement? “Oh see the phone I use? I’m not doing too bad”

One thing I’ve noticed is that you’ll hardly find people with broken-screen phones or an entry-level smartphone holding them in their hands this way.

I overheard a Bet9ja boy narrating to his coworker how the respect he gets from folks in his neighborhood has skyrocketed because he now uses an iPhone 13.

Is it a Nigerian thing? Or na so dem dey do world over?
It is so all over the world.
Not Nigerians specific.

There is something wrong with this team though still banking on a win.

That said, would it be fair to say the boys are not playing for the coach?

Or the coach is just clueless?

We are lucky it was City we were playing and not Southampton. They would have embarrassed us with all that energy. This is the thing I look at and conclude that Potter is not doing anything.

Injury or not , you cannot tell me that our second team is not man-for-man better than Southampton. But the cohesive play, the energy, is what set them apart. You can see what they are working on.
Thanks for this. I've been asking same questions - What is Potterball? What's his pattern, what is he working on?
Man-for-man our team better pass Brighton or Notts forest yet they showed us shege. I don't get it.

And I will hard disagree with that

The word is nature vs nurture.

My dad never oversped and I can say that I do not overspeed

My children will never think of throwing garbage out the car or throwing it indiscriminately

For better or worse I was largely known in the company as the britico guy and in some ways it reflected badly on me

A large part of it is raising your children right and setting an example for your them.

We all know people whose road is straight in spite of everything
No sir. The word is nature. I'm talking how in-born personalities affect how we view things because that is what the previous comment alluded to - Nigerians are this, Nigerians are that. Like we are born this way.
But without engaging in a nature vs nurture debate, my only question to is this- why don't you overspeed? Because you are Mr. Nice Guy or you fear the consequences of breaking the law?
People don't just decide to take a straight road. There is ALWAYS an underlying reason.

There are many people who trusted the govt to keep their own end and after the bank folded what happened to them?

I don't know if the depositors in Savanah bank ever got their money or even those with Maddof or investors in Enron

So for things that do not involve govt how do you trust your tenant is not doing illegal connection that will burn the house? Do you visit his house daily if you do that he can always change it once he sees you at his gate or you tell him to keep his gates open all day because you want access all the time

How do you trust that your restaurant your driver your nanny your mechanic your lecturer everyone aside you is keeping their end of the trust bargain since you can't be everywhere at the same time even if you're with them you won't know their minds
Does the government back private investors? It's a risk you take knowing fully well anything can happen and you can't really pin that on anyone.
But leave that aside, where is Maddof today - 150 years in prison.
So you see? There is a system and severe consequences when you decide to be smarter than everyone else.

In a sane environment where there is a system and it is enforced -
You trust the restaurant that if they cook bad food they will be shut down. It doesn't take long actually
You trust your driver because he doesn't want to lose his job
Nanny - we've heard many stories and you can see the human inclination to be evil - so you've got cameras everywhere
The list goes on....
As you said yourself, you can't know the minds of people and the most efficient way to get most people everyone fulfil the end of their bargain is by law and order. Ain't no other way.

Just as we spoke about Real estate investment on this thread yesterday

Someone yesterday In Nigeria was telling me how a tenant in their boys quarters did illegal bypass electricity connection so he can avoid paying bills and the boys quarters caught fire from an electrical issue burning 3 other units

So the landlords investment is gone. And it's not like many people in Nigeria have insurance

So what are you going to do about that one now? That tenant will also claim Nigeria is corrupt while he can't even do what's right to his landlord

Seankafor every transaction in the world involves certain level of trust. The bank you are keeping your money how do you know they are not planning to run away with your deposit? The bus you enter how do you know the driver knows how to drive and he's not going to plunge you into a river? The mama put you eat how do you know she's not serving you with rotten animals?
The example of the nepa illegal connection do you expect Nepa to be coming into every house in Nigeria to be checking your connection daily to protect them

BTW Sean Ive been trying to ask for some time? did you resolve your project issue? NYSC and job market next right?

And how did you know your supervisor will read the work and not give your project to another student

You see the trust chain in every transaction you do

Even driving is based on the trust that those in opposite lane won't suddenly swerve to face you at speed
How do you build trust - is it not knowing that both parties will play their parts? And there will be consequences if they don't.
The bank you keep your money is purely a business interest and a working government guarantees the safe keep of your money.
So you can with all confidence know that someone is "insuring" that trust.
We need to have a system in place and enforce that system. Those in power to do so MUST do so, otherwise, ko le work.

There are systems in place. But Nigerians will be Nigerians

The subsidy ballooned under gej because they allowed people to create brief case companies.

It was so bad that the chairman of moman wrote about it

There were multiple conditions that had to be met, and these had been previously enforced. You must have a depot of x volume. You must have 400 to 500 stations nation wide. But someone decided to flaunt these rules.

Systems are always in place, but Nigerians are smart enough to bypass the systems but too dumb to know why the systems are in place
This is NOT specific to Nigerians alone. It's human nature to want to form oversabi and bypass the system. It how we are built.
Take over speeding for instance - Most people (all over the world) don't over speed not because they are nice or not Nigerians, they don't over speed because they don't want to pay a fine or lose their license.
That's accountability and enforcing a system that is in place.
If you don't enforce a system, it is basically non-existent.
