A football rivalry that has spanned nearly four decades will be rekindled tomorrow in Ibadan, Oyo State, when 3SC of Ibadan, who are yet to find their in the Premier league teams after gaining promotion from the lower cadre, square up against Rangers of Enugu in a Globacom Premier League match. https://i45.tinypic.com/282jpcl.jpg Shooting Stars are currently 16th on the table, a situation Coach Phillip Boamah attributes to lack of depth in the Ibadan team. Their last match in Ibadan against Ocean Boys of Brass ended goalless to further compound the precarious situation of the Ibadan side. To scramble out of their unenviable position, Boamah and his boys know they must get a result at the Liberty Stadium tomorrow. For the visiting Rangers, they will want to capitalise on Ocean Boys good fortune in Ibadan last week to get at least a draw of their own. Rangers too do not have an away pedigree this season, three losses and a draw is not exactly the stuff to rave about, plus they have conceded goals in all their away matches. Given this fact, Shooting Stars might just have an edge particularly as Rangers’ last visit to Ibadan four seasons ago in 2005 ended in a 1-0 defeat for the Enugu side. http://234next.com/csp/cms/sites/Next/Sport/Football/5490962-147/story.csp |

https://i45.tinypic.com/2psn49z.jpg Africa Nations Cup Angola 2010 - The Biggest Football tournament in AFRICA!!! It seems like just yesterday we were blogging about the finals of the African Cup of Nations tournament in Ghana. But things move quickly in the world of football and we ask ourselves here, can our Super Eagles make history and win the Cup? I believe!!! The tournament takes place in Angola from January 10th to January 31st, 2010. The host nation of the 2010 African Cup of Nations, Angola, is confident their infrastructure will be ready in time for the tournament and CAF seems to agree after an inspection team dropped in and snooped around. The country sees the football tournament as a catalyst for change. Much of Angola's infrastructure was destroyed by a 27-year civil war. Therefore, it's seen by some as an ambitious choice to host the Cup. But things can only get better. https://i50.tinypic.com/l8sjo.jpg Once again, football plays a part in restoring civic pride and establishing a sense of collective unity in a land ravaged by infighting. 2010 is shaping up to be quite the year in African football, no? https://i47.tinypic.com/fyznk0.jpghttps://i45.tinypic.com/2rppcu1.jpg https://i46.tinypic.com/29ofwy9.jpg |
