The sixth edition of the FIFA Club World Cup commences in Abu Dhabi on December 9. Competitors from around the globe will join hosts, Al-Ahli, in the United Arab Emirates for the showpiece tournament, designed to crown the best club side on the planet.

The major draw at this year's event are European Champions League holders, Barcelona. Pep Guardiola's side, treble winners last term, will be joined by Copa Libertadores winners, Estudiantes, Atlante of Mexico, African kings, TP Mazembe, Asian Champions League winners, Pohang Steelers and OFC representatives, Auckland City.

Games will be held at the Mohammed Bin Zayed Stadium and the awesome Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, with the first game, between Ahli and Auckland taking place this Wednesday. It will be a play-off to see who has the right to face Atlante in the quarter-finals. TP Mazembe and Pohang Steelers join proceedings on December 12 in their quarter-final match-up before the heavyweights, Estudiantes and Barcelona, enter the draw at the semi final stage.

@Chelseans, me thinks Joey should play more games to get his "sharpness" back. He had two sweet chances yesterday but couldn't convert them.
Uncle Carlo could have easily played our B team yesterday and let us see what they can do instead of risking top players.
How bad in The Bisson's injury? Ghana go grumble ooh!
Borini and The Prince made  good account of themselves. Kai, that boy get vision. wetin!
Kakuta = Genius.

'Kakuta is the only one who I think tonight played well, he showed his talent and did fantastic passes for the second goal,' Ancelotti said. 'We have to look at him, stay calm and he will be the future of Chelsea.'- Uncle Carlo.

All in all, it was not a bad performance.

"Sudafed" is the "drug" in question and its for cold and throat inflammation. The problem here was that the team doctors failed to take permission first from UEFA before using it on their players and then they also did not indicate this in the protocol as required. This is the fault of the CSKA team doctors and not the players. A technical mistake so to say.

I'm happy for the young boys thought. A good effort they put in.

Bad thing is the night will be remember more about Apoel getting a draw rather than the performances the young boys put in.
Well it was a terrible mistake but it happened and we can't change that now.
Let us try to look at the bright side of things.
The ref I think has issues. How could he allow their first goal and not allow ours?

Yes I saw that.

This ref is blind. . .That goal could have stood. Apoel's first goal was offside too.

And now they equalised. . .damn!

FBS I don't think it's fair to say a footballer fumbled after a missed pen. It's always a 50-50 chance. Accepted it may be a bit depressing for the lad knowing his missed kick took us out of the competition, I would be more concerned about the pressure during the 90mins. And if I judge him on the 90 I think he did a fantastic job.

Even our ever reliable General missed a pen on the weekend. The prince will get there.
Nateevs, I was speaking specifically about the pen miss which took us out of the competition. The pressure was there. If you miss a penalty kick, of course you fumbled just like our General messed up but like you said it can happen to anyone.
It's not like I'm criticizing him. Never! I want the lad to come good. He is pure class and talent.
I can see that his vision is second to none. I support The Prince.

Good news that we can at least afford to use our young players but personally I'd like to see them perform under pressure. Prince Kakuta already fumbled once at the very first sign of pressure but I'm hoping now that it is a thing of the past.
The world is looking at him.

Chelsea defender Ashley Cole scoops London award

Chelsea left-back Ashley Cole has been named as BBC London's Footballer of the Year for 2009.

The defender is the sixth Chelsea player in succession to claim the award, and was delighted that his fine performances over the last year had been recognised, after a good season for the Blues.

"If I look back it was a good year, I was playing well, won the FA Cup medal, a little bit disappointing not winning the league or the Champions League, but to do what we did in the circumstances, it was a good season," Cole told his club's official website.

Where my young boys at?

However with our Cypriot opponents still competing to qualify for the Europa League, Anceloti feels it would be unfair on Atletico Madrid to weaken the side too much.

'I think that I will put in the squad five young players, Jeffrey Bruma, Gael Kakuta, Fabio Borini, Nikki Ahamed and Daniel Philliskirk. Starting I think maybe only Kakuta,' said the Italian.

'We have two aims, one is to maintain a good performance in our group because we did very well. We won four games in five and we want to finish this group with a good performance. -
