Countdown to the showdown!!!

Nigeria takes on Egypt at the 2010 Nations Cup.

Arguably the 'nearly-men' of African football, Nigeria have won the Africa Cup of Nations on two occasions, but have been runners up a further four times.

In fact, they have been semifinalists 12 times, and their two victories signify an extremely poor conversion rate from there.

They first appeared in the tournament in 1963, when they bowed out in the first round, before having to wait until 1976 for their next showing, this time reaching the last four.

There followed a prosperous time in the country's football as they claimed the title in 1980 and 1994, finishing runners-up on three more occasions in between.

They chose not to particpate in the 1996 event in South Africa for political reasons, and were subsequently suspended from the 1998 tournament too.

Since then they have finished as runners-up (2000), semifinalists (2002, 2004, 2006) and quarterfinalists (2008), a worrying backward trend for the Super Eagles.

Can the Super Eagles make history? This will be a cracker!

The battle for the best club (football) in the world will take place in the UAE (seems every thing takes place in that place nowadays) from the 9th of December 2009 - 19th December 2009.

A total of 7 teams from different part the world will engage in this battle for superiority. Make no mistake for this is a very important trophy as echoed by Carles Puyol.
The Club World Cup is very important for us. We want to win every trophy and this is one that got away from us in 2006. - Barcelona's Carles Puyol

Even Vogt couldn't find one and no coach has found one for us since 1994 (Okocha has been the only playmaker more than 10 years ago.)

Match ended

Wikki 2 Gombe 0

That was in the past. Vogts was a failure and we all know that.
Now is present and Amodu should do his job. Simple.
Besides, a set piece specialist is not necessarily a play maker but a play maker can be a set piece specialist. geddit?

Thanks for the match update.

How high is the quality of the match?

honeric01:
i also don't know why.

You see why we all think Uncle Amodu needs help?

Congrats Uncle Carlo!

Mr Timbuktu1, why create a thread you never had intentions of updating?

I wonder why we have no free kick specialist in the SE?

Any updates on other matches?

Wikki is the better team right?

honeric01:
Haven't seen any in these 2 teams, at least not yet.

No single one?

What about creative midfielders?

Anyone watching this match?
