The Argentina vs Peru match was something else.
They wasted several chances in the first half. . .the last touch was a let down for them.

Martin Palermo at 36 is miles better than Gomez at 22. He scored recently against Ghana in a friendly and Diego kept faith in him. What a way to repay his coach.

And oh, Maradona's celebration? TOP DRAW!

Have a taste of it.

Heartbreak for UAE and I must confess, they are the team who surprised me most in this tournament. Never knew they could play this well. But ouch, what a sucker punch from Costa Rica.

Again, another red card!

The Drama continues.

UAE 1 - 2 Costa Rica.

Well Brazil have managed to beat the Germans, but the match itself was uninspiring. I believe Ghana can win this cup for Africa for the first time. Funny am saying this as a Nigerian, cos we used to be the trailblazers for Africa in age group competitions.

You are very kwarect! In fact the match never came to life until the 73rd minute.
But even then I've got to say that the tournament itself became more interesting only in the round of 16.
Absolute crackers! Hungary vs Italy was DRAMA in CAPS! The referee completely lost it.

Generally the refs in this tournament are below par. zero all of them, the main culprit Rosseti of Italy. grin

You are welcome Emperoh wink. how comes no local station is showing the U-20?
But I've got to tell you Italy vs Hungary was pure drama now dubbed The spectacle of Suez.
Initially I thought the Korea vs Ghana was interesting but not until this one. Drama from start to finish.

Both teams played like their life depended on it. Red cards, tackles flying left right and center. 3 goals in extra time. Italians were reduced to 8 men!!! shocked

The Hungarians have a very good striker and I understand he is a Liverpool player but on loan with AEK Greece. Lethal striker that boy Krisztian NEMETH.

4. goal difference in matches between the tied teams
Point of correction, Head to Head advantage will determine if we are on the same point and not goal difference. Have you forgotten so soon how Angola qualified for the last world cup? Tunisia will top the group if the point remain the same.
You should have done your research before posting and exposing yourself. The rule has changed.

Tiebreakers

For FIFA World Cup qualifying stages the method used for separating teams level on points is the same for all Confederations, as decided by FIFA itself. If teams are even on points at the end of group play, the tied teams will be ranked by:

   1. goal difference in all group matches
   2. greater number of goals scored in all group matches
   3. greater number of points obtained in matches between the tied teams
   4. goal difference in matches between the tied teams
   5. greater number of goals scored in matches between the tied teams
   6. drawing of lots, or a play-off (if approved by FIFA)

This is a change from 2006 FIFA World Cup qualification, where results between tied teams was the first tiebreaker.

Nigeria must down Mozambique cheesy

The Super Eagles return to the Abuja National Stadium a month after they failed to beat Group Two leaders Tunisia at the same venue to face Mozambique in a 2010 World Cup qualifier.

Expectations have plumetted since that 2-2 draw with the Carthage Eagles so much so that a local bank who bought the ticket rights for Nigeria's World Cup home games is now angling for a discount from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

The 60,000-capacity Abuja Stadium will certainly not be a full house as was the case for the games against Kenya and Tunisia.

With or without a massive support, the Eagles have to win against a team, who must have felt they were robbed of victory by the Eritrean referee when both teams first clashed in March in Maputo.

The Tunisians share the same goals difference of +3 with their closest rivals, but they have scored more goals - six goals as against the five by Nigeria. With this group most likely to go right down the wire, goals difference and number of goals scored may well determine the eventual winner here.

Okoro on fire for Eaglets

Nigeria's Under-17 team, the Golden Eaglets, defeated Qatari club Luqiyya FC 4-1 in a warm-up match ahead of the Under-17 World Cup, with Heartland star Stanley Okoro netting a hat-trick.

Okoro got his three goals in the second half, while the other Nigerian goal was scored in the first half by Olarewaju Kayode.

Mighty Jets striker Terry Envoh was also in fine fettle as he spearheaded the attack, while the other Heartland star in the team, full-back Orji Kalu, started from the bench.

"This was a remarkable improvement from the team I travelled with to Dubai a few months ago. It is really a team to be proud of," top team official, Garba Lawal, told Goal.com.

The Eaglets are on a training stint in Qatar prior to the FIFA Under-17 World Cup, which they will host starting on October 24.

Nigeria, who are also the defending champions, are drawn against Germany, Argentina and Honduras in the first round of the tournament.

The team are expected back in Nigeria on October 16.
