Sagamite:
No 1, he was not playing centre back, he was defending a centre piece.

Players do miss balls sometimes, as long as it is a rare occurence, then it is fine that is not a "weak" defence. Whether you like it or not, there will be attempts on goals no matter how good your defence is, even if your the Italian senior team, so it is left to keepers to show their worth when this happens.

For the goal of the Venezuelans, the keeper tried to parry the ball like a sissy and did not even dive the whole length of the his post as he possibly could from the position he was in.

No 2, this is the same defence that played 2 matches in a team that had 10 men and yet was hardly pressured. They kept their own well in both matches.

The team is good, just lacks finishing or even a basic striker.

No 1. Yes he was playing center back and it was when we were a man down that he moved up. Go back and watch the match.

No 2. The keeper could have done nada. It was more or less a one-on-one situation. The Venezuelan player bursted in, in a flash and before you could say Sagamite, ball don enter. Even 2 goal keepers would not have saved the day.

No 3. Our first half against Venezuela was terrible especially the backline, thanks to the keeper we could have easily conceded 3 goals if not more.

No 4. In the second half we pressed the life out of them but couldn't get the goal.

No 5. Our keeper saved us against Tahiti. Yes, against Tahiti.

The team is not bad but you wouldn't say SUPER. Well, except they (Siasia and his boys) have something really good in stock for us.

Kudos! To the owner and its members. One cannot do without the other.

UEFA & FIFA are either stupid or just acting naive.

Eastbay:
As a United fan,Fergie's outburst is a major embarrasment.
Truth is,we played cr#p saturday and did not even deserve the rescued point.
he's just trying to hide the poor form we've largely been in this season.
Scholes was SH&T.Cattermole had a great game subduing our midfield.
It's time to start worrying if you are a Manc.Tht's the truth.

@ Eastbay! Padi mi! How now? Never knew you are this honest?

Let me say it LOUD! MUCHO RESPECTO!!!

God is Good. . .All the time.

Good game last night.

Sagamite:
Being one that has watched the matches, one of the 3 was a penalty, the other 2 can be attributed to the keeper's errors.

So how can we now term our defence as "weak"?

My definition of "weak" in football will suggest incompetence in ability or teamwork. Definitely the defence I have seen in this tournament is nowhere near such a term.

Well, I think only "one" can be attributed to the keeper's error i.e the first goal against spain.
Our backline was shaky when Venezuela scored. Nwankwo was playing center back and attempted clearing with his head from a set piece but he missed or were they trying the yeye offside trap? Whichever it was, both failed and Venezuela scored. There was absolutely nothing the keeper could do.

Our defense got better but again, they were caught napping even against Tahiti and it was our keeper that saved us.

Surprise, surprise

THE DAY REPLAYED - There was a dramatic beginning to the Round of 16 of the FIFA U-20 World Cup Egypt 2009, as Italy and Korea Republic pulled off shock wins against their more-fancied opponents.

Despite dominating for most of their showdown in Cairo, tournament favourites Spain had to bow to the superior finishing of the Italians, while the Asians proved too good for a Paraguay side that failed to live up to the expectations they had generated in the first round.

Results
Spain 1-3 Italy
Paraguay 0-3 Korea Republic

Goal of the day
Paraguay 0-3 Korea Republic, Kim Min-Woo 60
Already one goal to the good thanks to Kim Bo Kyung's opener, the Taeguk Warriors underlined their superiority when Kim Min Woo added a second five minutes later. Collecting a pass on the right of the Paraguayan box, the Yonsei University man shaped as if to play a pass out to the other wing before unleashing a fierce drive past startled Albirroja goalkeeper Joel Silva.

Memorable moments
Last-ditch defence: On top for long periods against their old rivals, ten-man Spain were rarely troubled in defence, until their opponents took the lead that is. Suddenly goalkeeper Sergio Asenjo found himself frequently in action, and never more so than when a long ball came sailing over the top of the Spanish defence and into the path of Mattia Mustacchio.

Players shouldn't be doing this. That's if he indeed made that statement.

Interesting second half. First half was rubbish.
But I've got to say that the refs in this tournament are simply dishing out cards anyhow. That was no red card!
Spain could have leveled the game from the spot but they blew it. . .Good goal keeping from the Italian goalkeeper.

Spain 1- 3 Italy.
