Community Shield Win Is A Sweet Moment For Chelsea – Frank Lampard

A thrilling Lamps has described how it feels to win the Community Shield,

Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard admitted winning the Community Shield against Manchester United was a “sweet moment” for the Blues.

An entertaining game at Wembley ended 2-2 with Wayne Rooney scoring a last minute equaliser for the champions.

However, the Blues bounced back to win from the penalty spot and claim the first silverware of the season.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Lampard, who scored Chelsea’s second goal admitted it was a good way to start the season.

“It’s a nice start to the season especially after that last minute goal we could have been on a bit of a downer but we kept our heads,” said the England international.

Lampard’s goal had an element of controversy to it after Chelsea played on despite a foul by Michael Ballack on Patrice Evra.

However, the midfielder insisted the west Londoners had done nothing wrong.

“No I think everyone knows the rules now it’s up to the referee to stop it,” he explained.

“The rules are as a player whenever the referee stops it, he stops it so that’s what we did. I’m sure Manchester United would have done the same.”

Lampard also admitted he was happy with the diamond formation Chelsea had played and his own position within the team.

“I’m very happy, I don’t mind honestly where I play in midfield in a diamond,” he added.

“The holding role is not particularly my role but left right or at the top of it I’m happy.

"I enjoyed it today, I won’t play it as a typical no 10. I try and give a bit more to the team defensively but at the same time try to add as much as I can going forward.”

Booking Ballack would have meant stopping the game. Game was no stopped. End of . . .

Evra was also drifting into a dangerous position before Ballack punched him in the face.
Still a million miles difference between this game and Barcas.

Patrice Evra was clearly blocked off on the left touchline by Michael Ballack, but with Wayne Rooney with the ball at his feet, referee Chris Foy waved play on.

We all watched not only because we wanted to see Chelsea play "beautifully" but also to see them win.
The first goal was nowhere near legitimate. . . . . .Drogba fouled Ben Foster.
Ben Foster made more contact with DD than with the ball (and not the other way round). He (Foster) was clearly guilty of reacting late. You should have seen it coming 'cos twice in the first half, DD terrorized BF by chasing the ball down in the box.

It was border-line. . . . .Jamie Redknapp n Andy Gray showed highlights after the game.
There is nothing border-line about it. You confessed yourself that WR was offside. Yes or True?

But he stopped the game all the time it happened to Chelsea.
Letz flip the scripts. . . . . .If Valencia had done the same to John Terry(punching his face). . . . .Would the referee had allowed the game to continue?
Get some perspective. . .
No need flipping the script. The issue was, he stopped the game when it happened to Ballack but mind you, MU was in possession of the ball then. Had Chelsea had the ball, MOST LIKELY play would have continued.
In your own case, Rooney had the ball after EVra fell. Why did he not kick out the ball?

It does. . . . .He was a serial plonker.
I can dig out BBC quotes chastising the referee.
There was a foul but ref played advantage. SIMPLE.

Enjoy your milk cup.
Thanks, I will take it. The FA Community Shield 2009 grin
Something you are proud to have won twice in a row?

This is no defeat. . . . . .Performance wise, United were loads better.
IT IS A DEFEAT because you lost and Chelsea WON!. Neither team played amazingly.

BBC Sport's Phil McNulty tweeting from Wembley:
"A silver-lined start for new Chelsea coach Carlo Ancelotti - but enough on show from both sides to take encouragement for the new season."

Gosh. . . . . .see what a milk cup can do to a grown man?

Man Utd cannot play WITHOUT Ronaldo and yet Chelsea couldn't beat em in 90 minutes after being helped twice by the referee.
Pathetic!!!
1. The first goal was perfectly legitimate. We've seen such goals given on countless occasions.
2. Your second goal was from an OFFSIDE position.
3. Maybe ref should have stopped the game. . .maybe not but after Evra fell, Rooney continued playing. He should have at least kicked the ball out seeing that his mate was down.

Your argument about the ref holds no water.

Agreed, it's an ordinary shield but winning is ALWAYS good. Can't blame us, can you? wink
