Olaolufred: FBS,
Who scored? Maicon seems to be US name. Or is it Brazilian? Filipe Melo scored with a header from a set piece by Maicon (Brazillian RB). |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: FIFA Confederations Cup: South Africa '09 Official Thread by FBS: 3:16pm On Jun 18, 2009 |
The match is on a very good pace. Maicon is an imposing figure on the right flank. Brazil go close again. . As regards the article about vuvuzela, me thinks it probably sounds better and more coordinated and rhythmic when you are in the stadia. Watching on the TV and listening to the 'bee" song is simply annoying. Should it be banned? Alonso is very stupid for the comments he made. How come did vuvuzela did not affect them when they spanked NZ? I like the player but the man is very stupid if actually he made those comments. Spain midfielder Xabi Alonso said: "I think they should be banned. They make it very difficult for the players to communicate with each other and to concentrate.
"They are a distraction and do nothing for the atmosphere," he added after his team's 1-0 win over Iraq. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=655585&sec=global&cc=5739 |

Iran opposition defiant as media grip tightens TEHRAN, Iran (CNN) -- Thousands of Iranians gathered Wednesday evening in Tehran's Haft-e-Tir Square in a show of support for opposition leader Mir Hossein Moussavi as authorities cracked down on protests and tightened controls on media, threatening Web sites reporting on the country's worst crisis in decades. http://edition.cnn.com/2009/WORLD/meast/06/17/iran.elections.rallies/index.html |

Cristalz: As for the booing, the guys on Supersport were talking about it. They said he wasn't being booed. . .the fans were only calling his name. When they see him, they go ''Booooooooooooooooooth''. And as the ''th'' isn't exactly loud, it ends up sounding like a boo. I actually thought of this theory . . .could be true but me thinks the way it was pronounced was more of a booooo than a booth without the "th". phuck, did I make any sense? |

They gave their all. Never even knew they had a national team. Cristalz: Hi guys. What happened, Spain couldn't put more than a lone goal past Iraq?? Very surprising. Iraqis that good or Spain had a bad day? @crizzle, Iraq was solid throughout. I recommend that they give them automatic slot in the next round. |

Kx: How come the winning team is d one under so much pressure?
Self imposed pressure wont make for a good world cup outing. Spanish Body language, even with a goal victory, made it look like the iraqis just won fifa world cup because they were expected to give Iraq some spanking. Like say 5-0. Somehow you feel Iraq actually won. |
