A reckless police driver behind the wheels of a van attached to the FESTAC police station has been accused of hitting a woman and her baby, causing brain damage in the nursing mother. Several sources related to the woman told SaharaReporters that the accident happened on June 23, 2013 as the police driver sped dangerously against the flow of traffic on a one-way lane along the busy Oshodi-Apapa Road, hitting down the unsuspecting woman and her baby. “The accident was avoidable, and could have been avoided if the police man obeyed simple traffic regulation that marked the road as one-way,” said a relative of the injured woman. “Now, the action of this [police] man has resulted in serious brain injury to the mother.” The source revealed that the accident happened at Church bus stop along the Oshodi-Apapa express road. An eyewitness said the victim, Taskirat Anjolaiya, was alighting from a public bus with her child and had not noticed the furious police van coming from the wrong traffic direction towards her. One of the victim’s relatives disclosed that the driver of the police van, identified as Corporal Friday, told their family that he was driving his boss’s mistress to the airport, apparently to catch a flight, and had to maneuver through traffic to get his passenger quickly to her destination. An eyewitness said the police corporal seemed to act with drunken disregard for other road users. “As he was driving, he was waving his hand and shouting at drivers who were driving the right way to clear out of the road,” the witness told SaharaReporters. “He kept driving that way until he eventually knocked down the woman coming out of the bus with her baby.” Family sources said the badly injured woman and her baby were rushed to the emergency ward at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH). Doctors reportedly discovered that she had sustained a pelvic fracture, facial bruises, and brain injury. The baby, Ammarah Anjolaiya, also suffered deep facial cuts and a broken jaw. A family source said Corporal Friday’s first concern at the scene of the accident was to immediately arrange a cab to convey the “madam” in his car to her destination. He later provided the injured woman’s family with N70,000 for treatment. The source said the culprit subsequently abandoned the victims of his reckless driving at the hospital. “We have so far spent above N500,000 on treatment and upkeep,” said the source. Another family source told SaharaReporters that the victim’s husband, Sulaiman Anjolaiya, had been unemployed for several months. “His wife was the bread winner of the family and now she is down with mental and physical injuries due to the behavior of this police corporal who has now abandoned them to the fate he inflicted on the family,” she said. Our sources disclosed that the family of the victim had a shocking experience when they visited the FESTAC divisional police station to meet with the Divisional Police Officer, Ibrahim Zango, whose mistress was being taken to the airport at the time of the accident. “DPO Zango spoke to us in a very rude manner before offering us additional ten thousand naira,” said one of the victim’s relatives. He added that the DPO said the woman being driven by the reckless police driver was “just a relative.” Mrs. Taskirat Anjolaiya is currently receiving treatment at LUTH for her physical and mental injuries. https://img.naij.com/n/0e/9/killer_cop_subsidy.jpg The trial of a police officer accused of killing a young man and injuring several others during the January 2012 fuel subsidy protest commenced today in a high court in Lagos. The accused is Segun Fabunmi, a chief superintendent of police (CSP). Mr. Ogunsade one of the defence counsel asked the court for variation of bail conditions for his client, but the judge refused. Justice Olasibi Akinlade had put a bail bond of N250 million and had also ordered that the accused should provide two sureties who must have landed properties in Lagos worth N100 million. The first of two witnesses one Mr. Adekunle Alabi testified that he and friends where playing football in front of his house at Ogba, Lagos State, when the policemen swooped in with two heavy armoured vand and started shooting. “We all ran. I ran into our building and was peeping. I saw the defendant shooting,” said the Mr. Alabi who added that he later picked up a stray bullet and handed it to the Baale (traditional ruler) in the area. The second witness, Mr. Alimi Abubakar, corroborated the testimony, telling the court that he sustained a bullet wound to his leg from CSP Fabunmi’s sporadic shooting at the Yahaya Abatan junction in Ogba. The second witness said he was at a vendor’s stand reading a newspaper when the police officer started shooting. He testified that he saw Mr. Fabunmi chase some people into Abeokuta Street where he kept shooting after already hitting down some victims at the junction. The second witness said a bullet hit his leg at the same time a bullet also hit the late Ademola Abbey. He told the court that the accused chased Mr. Abbey to Abeokuta Street and shot him again, after first wounding the deceased at the Yahaya Abatan junction. The two witnesses emphasized that the killer cop, who has since been dismissed from service, took the gun from another police officer who initially was shooting into the air and ground, and then fired gunshots at people as they ran in different directions. Justice Akinlade adjourned the case to October 25 when more witnesses are expected to testify. |

Manchester United have bid £25m for Barcelona's ex-Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas but the Gunners have first refusal on him at the same price. United's offer is being considered but is understood to be below the Spanish club's valuation of the player. While Fabregas is not pushing for a move, it is believed he is open to a return to England. The 26-year-old will be guided by whether Barcelona are prepared to accept an offer for him. Fabregas came through the Spanish club's La Masia academy before Arsenal signed him as a 16-year-old in 2003. He developed as one of the London club's key players under manager Arsene Wenger before becoming Arsenal captain in November 2008. The Spain international spent eight years with the Gunners, playing 303 games and scoring 57 goals. However, he returned to the Nou Camp when he signed a five-year deal with Barcelona in a £25.4m move in August 2011. He has since helped the Catalan club win the Copa del Rey in 2011-12 and La Liga in 2012-13. Fabregas has played 96 times in two seasons with Barcelona, including 60 league games, but has rarely featured in his preferred midfield role, with Xavi, 33, and Andres Iniesta, 29, ahead of him. Fabregas has made 83 appearances for Spain, winning the 2010 World Cup and the European Championship twice. Source FACEBOOK bbc.co.uk/sport/football/23316448 |

Dear Bishop Oyedepo, I am writing you this letter on behalf of all sane and upright Nigerians. Kindly explain to us the meaning of these very scary, occult and demonic structures you have spotted our sacred land with. What is the meaning of these buildings, dear esteemed Bishop? Are they not a very bad omen that are responsible for bringing the wrath of God to our dear nation. We Nigerians are very spiritual people. We believe in curses, in taboos, in demons and in abominations. Indeed if you are in the Church business as you portray to be, you too understand these things. You understand the purity of life and land and what evil is. After-all it was you who slapped a poor girl who you castigated as being possessed by spirits. So why have you put these many solid structures that are all types of funny things including the pentagram, structures bearing semblance to the Baphomet, goat head masonic god, 69, or 666, ‘$’ sign, and all other things that since I received a broadcast with the news story, have made me quite uncomfortable and afraid. You do know the structures you built I presume, having a degree in architecture yourself. So our airplanes fly over these things. Do you know the spiritual implication of this calamity you have constructed on our land? Is this not a reason for the woes of Nigeria? Dear Bishop, please tear these things down. I am ashamed of our government for giving you a permit to make these type of things on our blessed soil. This is spiritual pollution and it should not be allowed. To make matters worse, this is an institution where Nigerian youth are being trained to be ‘leaders.’ Dear Bishop, leaders of what? What Covenant University?? How far do human beings go to gain power over wealth and in the challenge of God? Is there not a point where we stop and hold certain things sacred and some areas as no go areas? Matthew 7:22 Many will say to Me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Thy name? and in Thy name have cast out devils? and in Thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from Me, you that work iniquity. Where did you learn all these things? In America? Because this occult is foreign to us, and these are the symbols attributed to the illuminati or masons, and linked to Egypt. So you must have imported these things from your sojourn to the US? Someone should please tell me the right court where you take such matters that have defiled the Church and the land to, to get redress. It is a sad day for me, and I am really hoping that the aerial images on Google and these symbols we have seen is not true, or the David Oyedepo can come and answer us and show us they are not what they appear to be. May the Good God watch over his children, Amen.
