President Trump announced Tuesday morning he will give a posthumous pardon to Susan B. Anthony, one of history's biggest figures in the women's suffrage movement.

The announcement came 100 years to the day after the 1920 ratification of the 19th Amendment, which gave women the right to vote.

Anthony, who died in 1906, had been arrested in 1872 for violating laws that had permitted only men to vote.

Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign chairman Paul Manafort worked closely with a Russian intelligence officer who may have been involved in the hack and release of Democratic emails during the election, the Senate Intelligence Committee concluded in a bipartisan report released Tuesday.

It’s the furthest U.S. officials have gone in describing Konstantin Kilimnik, a longtime Manafort associate, as an agent of the Russian government. The disclosure was part of the committee’s fifth and final installment of its report on the Kremlin’s interference in the 2016 presidential election.

“Kilimnik quickly became an integral part of Manafort’s operations in Ukraine and Russia,” the report states, adding that the pair “formed a close and lasting relationship that would endure to the 2016 U.S. elections and beyond.”

Tuesday’s report, the product of a three-year bipartisan probe by the committee, focuses on counterintelligence aspects of the U.S. government’s Russia investigation, including allegations that Trump campaign officials coordinated with Russian operatives.

Kilimnik’s role as a Russian intelligence officer is one of several findings in the 966-page report showing that Trump campaign contacts with Russian intelligence-connected operatives was deeper and more extensive than previously known. The report also showed that at least two participants in a June 2016 Trump Tower meeting with Manafort, senior adviser Jared Kushner and Donald Trump Jr. were more deeply tied to Russian intelligence than previously known.

The committee, which conducted the only bipartisan investigation on Capitol Hill centering on Russia’s 2016 meddling, also raised the possibility that Manafort was personally connected to the “hack-and-leak operations” that targeted Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign. The committee states that “some evidence suggests Kilimnik may be connected” to the effort, which was helmed by Russia’s GRU, its main military-intelligence directorate.

President Donald Trump on Monday attacked yet another way that states make it easier for their residents to vote.

Writing on Twitter, the president attacked secure drop boxes where voters can leave their ballots if they want to avoid voting in person while also avoiding sending in their ballots by mail.

“Some states use ‘drop boxes’ for the collection of Universal Mail-In Ballots,” the president wrote. “So who is going to ‘collect’ the Ballots, and what might be done to them prior to tabulation? A Rigged Election? So bad for our Country. Only Absentee Ballots acceptable!”

Unbelieveable that a president of a free democracy like the U.S. can be making baseless statements to undermine the electoral process before the election date. Trump is bigly scared.

The right-wing sisters—who’d been contracted to produce videos for streaming platform Fox Nation—were dumped by Fox in late April after spreading coronavirus conspiracy theories claiming that the death count was “inflated” to make Trump look bad; that the virus was “deliberately spread” by either “deep-state snakes” or the World Health Organization; that a vaccine will be used for “population control” by Bill Gates; and that 5G technology is being used to infect people, with an “on and off” switch for the virus.

Approval ratings for Trump have been falling since COVID-19 reached the U.S. They’ve fallen even further after Black Lives Matter protests broke out two weeks ago falling the death of George Floyd. Biden’s numbers have remained steady as he continues to search for a running mate – a decision he said he’ll make in the first week of August.

Biden heads into the conventions in a historically strong position

A new NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll finds former Vice President Joe Biden at 53% to President Donald Trump's 42% nationally among registered voters.

Biden's advantage is similar in other polls out this past week: Fox News poll (Biden by 7 points) and Monmouth University (Biden by 10 points). The average of all polls puts Biden above 50% and ahead by 8 to 10 points, depending on how you exactly average.

What's the point: Biden's lead has been about as stable as they come. Since the beginning of June, he's been up by around 8 to 10 points. We'll see whether the convention period, that begins tomorrow, alters the race.
For now though, we can say Biden's doing better than any challenger heading into the major party conventions since scientific polling began.

In the 13 previous elections in which an incumbent was running for another term, no challenger has ever been at or above 50% in the polls at this point in the campaign. The closest were Jimmy Carter in 1976 and Thomas Dewey in 1948. Carter was at about 49%, while Dewey came in at between 48% and 49%.
