Trump faced with photo evidence after he swears he’s never heard of former DHS official Miles Taylor https://www.rawstory.com/2020/08/trump-faced-with-photo-evidence-after-he-swears-hes-never-heard-of-former-dhs-official-miles-taylor/ President Donald Trump’s former Homeland Security chief of staff, Miles Taylor, attacked the president in an endorsement video of Vice President Joe Biden on Monday. But when Trump was faced with an attack, he said he never met or heard of Taylor. “We would go in to try to talk to him about a pressing national security issue — a cyberattack, a terrorism threat — he wasn’t interested in those things,” Taylor says in the Republicans Against Trump video. “To him, they weren’t priorities.” But Trump said he’d never heard of Taylor. Trump: Susan B. Anthony to get posthumous pardon - She a leader of the suffrage women's movement https://www.foxnews.com/politics/trump-susan-b-anthony-to-get-posthumous-pardon President Trump announced Tuesday morning he will give a posthumous pardon to Susan B. Anthony, one of history's biggest figures in the women's suffrage movement. The announcement came 100 years to the day after the 1920 ratification of the 19th Amendment, which gave women the right to vote. Anthony, who died in 1906, had been arrested in 1872 for violating laws that had permitted only men to vote. President Trump have done so much more for women in the history of the United States than any other President ever

feedthenation:This is interesting; the Senate Committee found that the Obama Administration Officials could have cited executive privilege, and didn't. The Trump Officials didn't have privilege, but *did* try to cite it.

feedthenation:Manafort worked with Russian intel officer who may have been involved in DNC hack, Senate panel says It’s the furthest U.S. officials have gone in describing Konstantin Kilimnik, a longtime Manafort associate, as an agent of the Russian government. https://www.politico.com/news/2020/08/18/manafort-worked-with-russian-intel-officer-who-may-have-been-involved-in-dnc-hack-senate-panel-says-397597 Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign chairman Paul Manafort worked closely with a Russian intelligence officer who may have been involved in the hack and release of Democratic emails during the election, the Senate Intelligence Committee concluded in a bipartisan report released Tuesday. It’s the furthest U.S. officials have gone in describing Konstantin Kilimnik, a longtime Manafort associate, as an agent of the Russian government. The disclosure was part of the committee’s fifth and final installment of its report on the Kremlin’s interference in the 2016 presidential election. “Kilimnik quickly became an integral part of Manafort’s operations in Ukraine and Russia,” the report states, adding that the pair “formed a close and lasting relationship that would endure to the 2016 U.S. elections and beyond.” Tuesday’s report, the product of a three-year bipartisan probe by the committee, focuses on counterintelligence aspects of the U.S. government’s Russia investigation, including allegations that Trump campaign officials coordinated with Russian operatives. Kilimnik’s role as a Russian intelligence officer is one of several findings in the 966-page report showing that Trump campaign contacts with Russian intelligence-connected operatives was deeper and more extensive than previously known. The report also showed that at least two participants in a June 2016 Trump Tower meeting with Manafort, senior adviser Jared Kushner and Donald Trump Jr. were more deeply tied to Russian intelligence than previously known. The committee, which conducted the only bipartisan investigation on Capitol Hill centering on Russia’s 2016 meddling, also raised the possibility that Manafort was personally connected to the “hack-and-leak operations” that targeted Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign. The committee states that “some evidence suggests Kilimnik may be connected” to the effort, which was helmed by Russia’s GRU, its main military-intelligence directorate. |

salford1:‘An insidious lie’: Trump leaves observers stunned with new attack on ballot drop boxes https://www.rawstory.com/2020/08/an-insidious-lie-trump-leaves-observers-stunned-with-new-on-ballot-drop-boxes/ ‘An insidious lie’: Trump leaves observers stunned with new attack on ballot drop boxes Published 2 hours ago on August 17, 2020 By Brad Reed President Donald Trump on Monday attacked yet another way that states make it easier for their residents to vote. Writing on Twitter, the president attacked secure drop boxes where voters can leave their ballots if they want to avoid voting in person while also avoiding sending in their ballots by mail. “Some states use ‘drop boxes’ for the collection of Universal Mail-In Ballots,” the president wrote. “So who is going to ‘collect’ the Ballots, and what might be done to them prior to tabulation? A Rigged Election? So bad for our Country. Only Absentee Ballots acceptable!” Unbelieveable that a president of a free democracy like the U.S. can be making baseless statements to undermine the electoral process before the election date. Trump is bigly scared. |
Diamond & Silk accuses Fox of racist double standard Diamond & Silk Suggest Fox News Executives ‘Ordered a Hit’ on them several months after Diamond & Silk were dumped by Fox News for promoting crazed COVID-19 conspiracy theories, the Trump-worshipping vlogging superstars have seemingly declared war on the right-wing cable network. In an excerpt of their new book, obtained by The Daily Beast, the MAGA siblings rant about the ordeal surrounding their April ouster from the Fox News family. Lynette “Diamond” Hardaway and Rochelle “Silk” Richardson repeatedly throw the network under the bus, at times revealing how Fox brass told them to “keep on fighting” even after the network publicly dumped them; other times suggesting the network cut ties with them as a retaliatory “hit” against President Trump. And in one particularly revealing section, Diamond & Silk grumble about how Fox’s white primetime stars have gotten away with pushing COVID-19 misinformation similar to the claims that resulted in the Black duo’s expulsion. The book, titled Uprising: Who the Hell Said You Can’t Ditch and Switch?—The Awakening of Diamond and Silk, is due out this Tuesday via conservative book titan Regnery Publishing. The right-wing sisters—who’d been contracted to produce videos for streaming platform Fox Nation—were dumped by Fox in late April after spreading coronavirus conspiracy theories claiming that the death count was “inflated” to make Trump look bad; that the virus was “deliberately spread” by either “deep-state snakes” or the World Health Organization; that a vaccine will be used for “population control” by Bill Gates; and that 5G technology is being used to infect people, with an “on and off” switch for the virus.

basilico:Why is Trump just woke up and start to attack a process which has been part of the electoral systems since the late 1800s, few months to the elections. Also, why is Trump directing the attack towards states controlled by DNC governors and not the Republican states. |
AbdulSleeky:Trump can't win anything unless he lies, cheats, and steals and everyone knows that. The supposed sabotage of the USPS is only going to expose his treasonous actions further and is going to backfire on him. Why the sudden knee-jerk reactions about the USPS in an election year. Trump's efforts to interfere in the electoral process are destructive and extremely unethical. Various states have relied on mail-in voting for some time - this is not new. Both mail-in voting and absentee voting rely on the USPS.

New August polls between President Donald Trump and Democratic nominee Joe Biden continue to show a solid lead for the former vice president. New polls from major polling organizations show a lead of 8 percentage points on average for Biden over Trump in the general election. A FOX News poll shows a favorable 7-point lead for Biden, while an NPR/PBS/Marist poll shows an 11-point lead for Biden. Approval ratings for Trump have been falling since COVID-19 reached the U.S. They’ve fallen even further after Black Lives Matter protests broke out two weeks ago falling the death of George Floyd. Biden’s numbers have remained steady as he continues to search for a running mate – a decision he said he’ll make in the first week of August. Biden finally announced his running mate as California Senator Kamala Harris this week, adding diverse representation and a strong, energizing political presence to his campaign. New polls show many voters around the country look favorably upon Harris’s selection.

Ribbit2:Jason Miller says it’s a ‘very solemn day’ for Trump after he plays golf while brother was dying https://www.rawstory.com/2020/08/jason-miller-says-its-a-very-solemn-day-for-trump-after-he-plays-golf-while-brother-was-dying/ Trump campaign adviser Jason Miller lamented the death of President Donald Trump’s brother, Robert Trump, as the president spent part of the weekend playing golf. During an interview on ABC’s This Week program, host George Stephanopoulos offered his condolences to Miller. “Thank you very much,” Miller replied. “It’s a very solemn day here in Trump headquarters. I know the president would very much appreciate those words, George.” Miller went on to say that the campaign would make an announcement in coming days about a possible change in schedule due to the death of the president’s brother. Trump faced criticism over the weekend after he played golf while his brother was dying on Saturday. Well, it's not the first time this will happen, in the book written by Mary Trump, Donald Trump's niece. Donald Trump went to the threatre when her father, Fred Trump Jr died. |
Jared Kushner, who is the leader of the WH Task force on the Covid-19 pandemic on CBS Face the Nation. He couldn't articulate anything about the achievement of the Task force, and even nothing positive has been achieved with thd Middle East peace plan CBS: We had over 1,500 US deaths from Covid just on Wednesday, which is similar to what we were seeing in May. We're on track for 200k deaths by Labor Day. What have you done wrong? JARED KUSHNER: Back in May the rate was about 2,500 deaths a day, so we're still below the peak CBS: What is the goal of the coronavirus task force at this point? To slow the spread of the virus, or just protect the vulnerable? JARED KUSHNER: Well look, we know a lot more than we did five months ago. CBS: But what is the White House task force's coronavirus strategy? Do you think you have control of the virus? JARED KUSHNER: Look, I came on today to talk about peace in the Middle East. CBS: Is the Trump campaign worried you may disfranchise some of your voters by not giving aid to the Postal Service? JARED KUSHNER: "Okay again, I hope we'll get to talk about Middle East peace

Biden heads into the conventions in a historically strong position https://edition.cnn.com/2020/08/16/politics/biden-conventions-analysis/index.html A new NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll finds former Vice President Joe Biden at 53% to President Donald Trump's 42% nationally among registered voters. Biden's advantage is similar in other polls out this past week: Fox News poll (Biden by 7 points) and Monmouth University (Biden by 10 points). The average of all polls puts Biden above 50% and ahead by 8 to 10 points, depending on how you exactly average. What's the point: Biden's lead has been about as stable as they come. Since the beginning of June, he's been up by around 8 to 10 points. We'll see whether the convention period, that begins tomorrow, alters the race. For now though, we can say Biden's doing better than any challenger heading into the major party conventions since scientific polling began. In the 13 previous elections in which an incumbent was running for another term, no challenger has ever been at or above 50% in the polls at this point in the campaign. The closest were Jimmy Carter in 1976 and Thomas Dewey in 1948. Carter was at about 49%, while Dewey came in at between 48% and 49%. |
