Major announcement later this morning at 11.30am https://www.nytimes.com/2020/08/05/nyregion/trump-taxes-vance-deutsche-bank.html Trump’s Bank Was Subpoenaed by N.Y. Prosecutors in Criminal Inquiry The subpoena, sent to Deutsche Bank, suggests that the inquiry into President Trump’s business practices is more wide-ranging than previously known. The New York prosecutors who are seeking President Trump’s tax records have also subpoenaed his longtime lender, a sign that their criminal investigation into Mr. Trump’s business practices is more wide-ranging than previously known. The Manhattan district attorney’s office issued the subpoena last year to Deutsche Bank, which has been Mr. Trump’s primary lender since the late 1990s, seeking financial records that he and his company provided to the bank, according to four people familiar with the inquiry. The criminal investigation initially appeared to be focused on hush-money payments made in 2016 to two women who have said they had affairs with Mr. Trump. But in a court filing this week, prosecutors with the district attorney’s office cited “public reports of possibly extensive and protracted criminal conduct at the Trump Organization” and suggested that they were also investigating possible crimes involving bank and insurance fraud. Deutsche Bank complied with the subpoena. Over a period of months last year, it provided Mr. Vance’s office with detailed records, including financial statements and other materials that Mr. Trump had provided to the bank as he sought loans, according to two of the people familiar with the inquiry. The bank’s response to the subpoena reinforces the seriousness of the legal threat the district attorney’s investigation poses for Mr. Trump, his family and his company, which in recent years have faced — and for the most part fended off — an onslaught of regulatory, congressional and criminal inquiries. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gMyY4Z8nKK0

1Sharon:The riots happened because for almost 9mins a police officer knelt down on the neck of a restrained (hand-cuffed) black man and not for what happened before the incident. if George Floyd didn't want to get inside the police patrol vehicle, the officers could easily have called for a big van for back up to ferry him to the police station. Yes George Floyd might have committed a crime (allegedly he presented a fake $20 bill) the police officer should not be the judge and jury. Ask yourself a question, will the police officer have knelt on the neck of a white man? |

SonofLincoln:Trump’s Axios Interview Was A 37 Minute Non-Stop Disaster https://www.politicususa.com/2020/08/04/trump-axios-interview.html Trump gave an interview that confirmed what the vast majority already believe about his virus response and made him a one-term president. Trump shrugged off coronavirus deaths as it is what it is, “They’re dying. That’s true. It is what it is. It is under control as much as you can control it. This is a horrible plague that beset us.” Trump spent more time bragging about his ratings on Fox News for his Tulsa rally than he spent discussing the deaths from the coronavirus. Here is Trump inflating his Tulsa crowd size: Trump is trying to make everybody forget the empty arena in Tulsa by claiming that 12,000 were there. Only a little more than 6,000 people attended by the official. |
SonofLincoln:The look on Jonathan Swan, an Australian journalist is priceless, it's amazing that the likes of Hannity, Tucker and others American journalists cannot hold a thorough fact-based interview such as this in the past 4 years with Donald Trump @jonathanvswan: “Oh, you’re doing death as a proportion of cases. I’m talking about death as a proportion of population. That’s where the U.S. is really bad. Much worse than South Korea, Germany, etc.” @realdonaldtrump: “You can’t do that.” @jonathanvswan: “Why can’t I do that?” @realdonaldtrum: "I think it's under control." @jonathanvswan: "How? A thousand Americans are dying a day." @realdonaldtrum: "They are dying. That's true. And it is what it is." Everyone living in America and who can vote must be able to watch the interview

John Lewis's (D-Ga.) life "impressive," adding that the longtime lawmaker and civil rights icon should have come to his inauguration. When asked how he thinks history will remember Lewis, Trump told Jonathan Swan on "Axios on HBO": “I don’t know. I don’t know John Lewis.” “He chose not to come to my inauguration. I never met John Lewis, actually, I don’t believe,” Trump added. .@jonathanvswan: "How do you think history will remember John Lewis?" Not handling the pandemic well’: Man fires at officers with AK-47 after refusing to wear a mask, police say When a cigar shop clerk told Adam Zaborowski on Friday he had to wear a mask in the shop, the 35-year-old angrily refused. Instead, he grabbed two stogies, stormed outside — and then pulled a handgun and shot at the clerk, Bethlehem Township, Pa., police said. The next day, cornered near his home, Zaborowski allegedly fired at police with an AK-47, sparking a wild shootout with at least seven officers that ended with him shot multiple times and under arrest. Adam M. Zaborowski. He literally fired an actual AK-47 at police after refusing to wear his mask in a convenience store. He shot at the workers too. He is alive. Compare that with George Floyd Philando Castile Breonna Taylor Tamir Rice Eric Garner.

As Breitbart News reported, Trump said Friday night on Air Force One he was prepared to ban TikTok — currently owned by Chinese technology company ByteDance, something he has floated before. |
Manhattan D.A. Is Investigating Trump and His Company Over Fraud, Filing Suggests The Manhattan district attorney’s office suggested on Monday that it has been investigating President Trump and his company for possible bank and insurance fraud, a significantly broader inquiry than the prosecutors have acknowledged in the past. The office of the district attorney, Cyrus R. Vance Jr., made the disclosure in a new federal court filing arguing Mr. Trump should have to comply with its subpoena seeking eight years of his personal and corporate tax returns. Mr. Trump has asked a judge to declare the subpoena invalid. The prosecutors did not directly identify the focus of their inquiry but said that “undisputed” news reports last year about Mr. Trump’s business practices make it clear that the office had a legal basis for the subpoena. The reports, including investigations into the president’s wealth and an article on the congressional testimony of his former lawyer and fixer, Michael D. Cohen, said that the president may have illegally inflated his net worth and the value of his properties to lenders and insurers. Lawyers for Mr. Trump have said he did nothing wrong. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/08/03/nyregion/donald-trump-taxes-cyrus-vance.html https://www.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.nysd.523086/gov.uscourts.nysd.523086.63.0_1.pdf

Trump Slams Deborah Birx After She Warns of Covid Surge https://www.mediaite.com/tv/trump-bashes-dr-birx-for-wilting-under-pelosi-criticism-she-took-the-bait-hit-us-pathetic/ Trump was responding to Birx’s Sunday interview with CNN’s Dana Bash, where the White House Coronavirus Task Force coordinator faced questions about the recent surge in Covid-19 cases around the country. Birx also used the opportunity to respond to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who reportedly accused her of helping Trump spread pandemic misinformation. Trump’s tweet comes a day after White House Director of Strategic Communications Alyssa Farah rebuked Pelosi by calling it “deeply irresponsible” and “wrong” to “repeatedly try to undermine & create public distrust in Dr. Birx.” President Donald Trump attacked Dr. Deborah Birx in an apparent response to her warning that the United States is entering a “new phase” of the coronavirus pandemic.

New video mocks Trump, for his 5-year-long lie about having a ‘healthcare plan’ - Trump never had any healthcare plan, promise made, but never kept https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hBO6QXretrE A brutal new video from MeidasTouch PAC mocks President Donald Trump for another of his broken promises from the 2016 campaign. Starting in 2015, Trump maintained that the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, should be killed and that he would replace it with something better. The problem is that at no time in the 10 years Republicans have tried to undermine the law have they been able to create an alternative. “Obamacare. We’re going to repeal it, we’re going to replace it, get something great. Repeal it, replace it, get something great!” Trump said in 2015 at an event at the American Airlines Center in Dallas. “We’re going to have insurance for everybody,” Trump said in a 2017 interview with The Washington Post. “There was a philosophy in some circles that if you can’t pay for it, you don’t get it. That’s not going to happen with us.” Republicans have effectively defunded much of the program by eliminating the health insurance mandate, leaving Democrats with a list of things they’ll need to restore and alter when the U.S. Senate falls back into Democratic hands. It has become clear that the GOP has little interest in a healthcare bill. When they held both the House and the Senate, they weren’t capable of crafting any legislation that their own party could agree with. |

Mitch McConnell is allowing Republican Senate candidates to do whatever it takes to salvage their campaigns ahead of what Republicans increasingly fear could be a devastating election for their party. In recent weeks, the Senate majority leader has become so concerned over Republicans losing control of the Senate that he has signaled to vulnerable GOP senators in tough races that they could distance themselves from the President if they feel it is necessary, according to multiple senior Republicans including a source close to McConnell. |

Kopfschmerzenmd:Out of the 3 main swing battleground states (PA, MI, FL) in the Nov 3 elections, the Trump campaign have allegedly pulled out ads from Michigan last week, rather they are putting resources in other smaller states. These are the states Trump won in 2016 and should win in 2020 to be elected for 2nd term. In PA, Biden's home state, this is already turned back to blue for Biden. So the only state left is Florida and we know the current situation in that state. Biden is more or less in a tie with Trump, including TX which is already confirmed a purple state. Trump's chances are quite limited for now. To the 'uncertified' MAGA folks on nairaland, it will take a massive turnaround of mega proportion for Trump to win in Nov. This is well known to him and his campaign, hence his suggestion last week about postponing the election in Nov and giving other excuses about fraud to mail voting. |
Reporters won't see Trump nomination https://www.arkansasonline.com/news/2020/aug/01/reporters-wont-see-trump-nomination/#.XyXQPSJl7XE.twitter When Republicans renominate Donald Trump for president in Charlotte, N.C., on Aug. 24, journalists won't be on hand to witness it, a convention spokesperson told the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette this week. Reporters also will be kept from the room when the Republican National Committee meets to conduct official party business. The spokesperson couldn't say whether C-SPAN, the nonprofit public service network, would be allowed to air the proceedings. We are planning for all of the Charlotte activities to be closed press: Friday, August 21 – Monday, 24th given the health restrictions and limitations in place in the state," the convention spokesperson said in an email. "We are happy to let you know if this changes, but we are working within the parameters set before us by state and local guidelines regarding the number of people who can attend events." |
