http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/08/nigerian-u-23-team-threaten-boycott-unpaid-allowances/ The end seems near for Nigeria’s quest for the Rio Olympic Games gold as the Samson Siasia-tutored U-23 Olympic Eagles have reportedly shunned training and threatened to boycott tomorrow’s quarter-final match against Denmark unless they are paid the balance of their allowances in Brazil. Proud of our young team, excited for the future #DreamTeamVI The team who topped Group B despite going down 2-0 to Colombia Wednesday are following in the steps of the senior national team, the Super Eagles who also protested in Brazil before their second round match against France at the 2014 FIFA World Cup. The Eagles lost 2-0 and crashed out. It would be recalled also that a similar protest by the U-20 team, the Flying Eagles cost them a match against Sudan who beat them 4-3 in Lagos after a 1-2 home loss in Omdurman. According to sources from the team’s camp the players the protest is also tied to the unpaid five month salaries and allowances of the coaches which the NFF president, Amaju Pinnick has directed the secretariat to settle with the $60,000 grant received from CAF recently. Africanfootball.com also quoted a source close to the team as saying that “The players said that their level of patriotism has already dwindled because of the way they have been treated by the government officials prior to the Olympic Games. “As we speak now, the only money that the players have received was the $150 dollars per day for 11 days, while there are more than that 11 days still to be paid and no extra money was received for the matches played so far”, the source also disclosed. The coach Samson Siasia-led team have already been overtaken by drama and controversies in the last few weeks, from the players stopping their coach from quitting his post to the team being stranded for several days at their training base in Atlanta, Georgia. |

Last season's league champions will meet FA Cup winners Manchester United in the Community Shield at Wembley. New United manager Jose Mourinho says the trophy will "have meaning" for those of his players who were part of the FA Cup-winning side last season Leicester have won the traditional season-opener just once, beating Liverpool in 1971, when they were invited to take part as second-tier champions after double winners Arsenal pulled out. Ranieri says he has a full strength squad to choose from, with forward Jamie Vardy back in training after featuring for England at Euro 2016. "All managers and players want to play at Wembley Stadium. It's one of the most famous stadiums in the world," he said. "This is not a friendly. We will give the maximum and also Manchester United will too. Both teams want to win it." Mourinho in an interview said "Now we have no chance to train against other teams. We have Leicester before the Premier League and it is not a training session - it is a game. "We have to face it as a game. We have the chance to give minutes to some people. Some who I know cannot play for 90 minutes, but of course we are going to try to win it." MATCH FACTS Head-to-head The only Wembley match between the two teams previously was the FA Cup final in 1963, in which Manchester United won 3-1. Both matches between United and Leicester in the Premier League last season ended 1-1. Jamie Vardy broke the Premier League record for scoring in the most consecutive matches, previously held by United's Ruud van Nistelrooy, in the first meeting in November (11). Leicester City This is Leicester City's first appearance in the Community Shield since 1971, in which they beat Liverpool 1-0 at Filbert Street. The Foxes were winners of the Second Division (now the Championship) the season before. Leicester's last trip to Wembley saw them win the League Cup in February 2000, beating Tranmere 2-1. The Foxes have secured three wins and a draw in their last five visits to Wembley (they drew 1-1 in the League Cup final against Middlesbrough in 1997 before winning the replay at Hillsborough). This is the first time Claudio Ranieri will have managed a team at Wembley Stadium. Vardy has scored once and assisted another goal in three games for England at Wembley. Manchester United This will be Manchester United's 30th appearance in the Community Shield. They've won the trophy on 20 previous occasions, a record figure (16 outright wins and four shared titles). United have won the Community Shield in five of their last six appearances (2007, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2013). They have also won their last four games at Wembley since losing the 2011 Champions League final there to Barcelona. Jose Mourinho failed to win the Community Shield in three of his four matches as Chelsea boss, including last season's game against Arsenal (with one defeat on penalties by Manchester United in 2007). Manchester United have lost just one of their last 15 games in all competitions against Leicester, though this was a memorable 5-3 victory for the Foxes in September 2014 (W11 D3). Zlatan Ibrahimovic has only played at Wembley once before, when Sweden lost 1-0 to England in November 2011. Courtesy BBC |

Even if Oshomole didn't complete all he started ..that is because he can't stay in power forever and the good work started can only be seen if there is continuity .... Oshomole has done his beat the face of Benin city has changed ....he can't do all in 7 years ...vite for continuity |
Congratulations to him anyway but I must say that the government is just trying to make history !!! Look why not take a more qualified candidate who had his education in the country esp from the state university ...this guy just has only a Bsc from USA and some years of experience on the job...not impressive... No need to insult the guy one thing about people is that when we want something we go for it with so much emotion...
