The Steel Mug A friend once came into my room where she saw a fanciful glass cup; she loved and wanted it, so I let her have it. Few months after, she sent me a picture of a broken glass cup – a friend of hers had toppled it over and it broke. She felt very sad and pledges made by others to buy her another cup would just not suffice, because she valued the source, not just the cup. As God would have it, we met again at the same place where I had given her the glass cup. I took along a new mug for her, this time a stainless steel mug – sort of an unbreakable one. Later that weekend, she walked into my room and asked in a rather emotional tone, “Papi (a pet name some call me), my c…uuup.” I looked at her affectionately as I presented the steel mug to her. She was awed and she hugged me out of that excitement, and I could perceive their warmth of her heart. I was so happy loving her too. The fact she had had the former glass cup broken did not matter to me a bit. As I meditated over that experience weeks later, I realized that it is typical of how God loves us. He gives us a chance to live and we go all out messing up big time, we allow some ‘friend indeed’ break our fanciful glass cup. But some day we return to Him at the same place where we left off and we say like my friend, “O God, my life”. He needs not ask us any detail because He knows all that has transpired. And as a loving God and Father, He presents us with His new Life – an indestructible life. Then we go on rejoicing evermore in His love and amazing grace. Beloved, I enjoin you to exchange your glass cup for His steel mug today. Come to Christ and secure your eternity. If you have done so, then let someone else know it’s not too late for them to be forgiven, saved and restored. _PEACE!

"When the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream. Then was our mouth filled with laughter and our tongue with singing. Then said they among the heathen, The Lord hath done great things for them. The Lord hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad." Psalms 126:1-3. Beloved, I hear you telling a new story and singing a new song. It's the story of joy and the song of praise. Therefore I welcome you to the season of Great Things. #Happy New Month. _PEACE! www.olaoluwaelijah.com www.rhemacafe.org

SAVIORS FROM ZION In a world of over 7 billion people, it is amazing how much in need we still are of men (and women) who would tackle the enormous problems we're faced with. Children need godly and caring parents; families and organizations need faithful and capable heads; nations need visionary, competent and cultured leaders. The beautiful ones appear to be fast fading away. Could you bring that solution your family, organization and society have been waiting for? Yes! Absolutely yes I believe you can. Somebody just has to rise up with the intelligence of heaven, to restore hope to our failing systems or introduce entirely new ones. We must not all watch our families broken apart and our nation slide into anarchy. Yes we are in the last days and it is also time for saviours to arise upon Zion. FILL THE WATER POTS Jesus attends a wedding party where the wine suddenly finishes while more guests are still trooping in. Obviously, they've planned for less than they have on their hands right now, and Jesus' presence wouldn't prevent the outcome of their ill preparedness, but as a loving and merciful God, He'll save them anyway. "Their wine's out", Mary reports to Jesus. Then comes His first instruction, "Fill the water pots with water." The six water pots are filled with water. And the other instruction: "Draw out now and bear unto the governor of the feast." They do so and having tasted it, the governor exclaims "Why have you left the best wine for the last?" Sometimes in the middle of our merriment, the wine finishes and every face wears a sad look. Does that mean the party's over? No, we have help within. As instructed, we must forget the old wine, fill our water pots with water. We must take responsibility and seek godly alternatives. All we need do to produce the best wine is follow instructions. We fill the water pots with water (at least we have water), and God transforms the water we provide into wine. So beloved, fill your water pots with water, out of it is coming the best wine you've ever tasted. www.olaoluwaelijah.com #Switch _PEACE! www.olaoluwaelijah.com www.rhemacafe.org |
THERE IS GOD... More than a comic adaptation of a First Lady's statement, it is absolutely true that there is a God holding the reins of Nigeria. From the days of the civil war through the various eras of corruption leading up to the most recent agitations for disintegration, Nigeria has survived too much as a country to fail at this time. Definitely there is a hand holding us as a nation. A dispensation of the gospel has been committed to us and in this mission, we will not fail. The strongest men in history have always been products of difficult times. So I see champions rising out of Nigeria. We must not allow our pains to becloud us from seeing the enormous opportunities that abound around us. I see opportunities for reassessments and discoveries; opportunities for integrated national development; opportunities for kingdom advancement and destiny fulfilment. Now is the time to grab our opportunities, because God is involved. #the nation. _PEACE! www.olaoluwaelijah.com www.rhemacafe.org |

when Christians say FEAR God, this particular fear is not about being scared of Him, or being scared of His judgement or His works but rather we talk about fear that comes from respect, the fear we're talking about is gotten from the reverence we have for God. any other fear outside this is negative. |
It is just too costly to live life afraid. In warfare, the first enemy to eliminate is fear. Once this is done, the battle is as good as won. Fear steals your joy, it cripples the mighty and makes a fool of the wise. Fear rewrites people's destiny. There is no benefit to fear other than the reverence we have for God which is born out of faith rather than fear. Life could be intimidating and debilitating and only the brave and courageous do find their feet. Those who are afraid to pursue their dreams end up serving other people's dreams. I believe you have substance inside you that'll be a huge blessing to this generation and the next, but at the gate of that manifestation is the spirit of fear. I challenge you to push it down. The Holy Spirit is our advantage over the spirit of fear. He empowers us to function in realms beyond the ordinary. Nothing can stop a man who is drunk in the Spirit and walks in His wisdom - he is an indomitable specimen of destiny. Your true destiny is beautiful and it will manifest. Fear will not rewrite your destiny in Jesus name. Go and succeed. _PEACE!

continuation of Restitution I Question 5: As a saved person, if I commit a sin, must I restitute after I have repented and obtained mercy from d throne of grace? Restitution only makes for good human relations; God doesn’t require it for anything. It is important we understand that restitution is as led by the Holy Spirit. Some things may never be restituted. What do we say about an assassin who gives his life to Christ? He definitely cannot restitute with everyone. The most important thing is to get it right with God. Restitution doesn’t affect our salvation. Restitution is only for better relationship between man and man, not between man and God. Restitution is not a prerequisite for forgiveness or salvation. In other words, it is not a price a man pays to earn forgiveness or to have peace. This belief that restitution is a prerequisite for salvation is an anti-grace thought and an anti-gospel thought. Christ has paid all that is there to be paid, so we have nothing else to pay for. However, we must remember that restitution is biblically established, both in new and old testament. This is because there are certain things that we need to make straight, because these things have present or future physical consequences (not necessarily eternal consequences). So if the Holy Spirit deems fit, that a particular offence is to be restituted, then It is for our good, after all, those that are LED (controlled, directed, influenced) by the Spirit of God are Sons of God (saved people). Question 6: What if we are instructed to make restitution by the Holy Spirit? When the Holy Spirit lays it on our minds to restitute, we have to obey. Failure to do so is disobedience and disobedience is a sin. The Holy Spirit guides, guards and leads us; that is salvation- an act of submission We should note that when we accept Christ, we not only accept Him as Saviour but also as Lord, heaven established that, it is imperative that as sons of God, we are to obey Him on every aspect not only In restitution. We carry out the instructions He gives us not to please man but Him because our new man is created for His pleasure alone. Any act that is contrary to His obedience is disobedience which is what we face. When instructed by the Holy Spirit to restitute and we disobey, it is not the restitution that is the sin but that we do not obey our Lord. Likewise, if you want to restitute and d Holy Spirit forbids you, if you still go ahead, you have sinned. Restitution if not properly done can cause more harm than good. However, a Spirit led restitution turns out to be good and yields good results. And the Spirit of wisdom also teaches us how to go about it.Restitution can be used as a tool for evangelism and can bring people to Christ. It can also give boldness in the future to correct similar issues. Question 7: If a husband commits adultery and afterwards ask for forgiveness from God, does that mean he should not beg for his wife forgiveness? If such a man is born again, I believe the Spirit will lead him to confess and beg his wife because to God they are one, so he cannot have peace until he has been forgiven by his wife and he wouldn’t like to live in deceit with his wife. So I believe, what the Spirit will teach him how to go about it with God’s wisdom in a way that he wouldn’t break his home, and the Holy Spirit will minister to the wife too. The Holy Spirit should be the author, finisher and activator of Restitution. If any other thing (such as guilt, fear, shame, pride) drives it, it is wrong! We believe Restitution isn’t only for moral justification. Question 8: if a church doctrine demands restitution and one is not convinced to go ahead, will that be disobedience? No, we are led by the spirit of God alone and as Paul admonished, we should not be tossed about by every wind of doctrine but be renewed only by the Holy Spirit in us. However, God does not author confusion. In such a case the Holy spirit will most-likely tune to the biblical doctrine of your church on such matter, but if he forbids it, then please don’t do it at that moment. If you restitute, let it be that it is because the Holy Spirit inspired it and thought you how to go about it. CONCLUSION In summary, we have been able to establish that restitution is good but it does not affect our eternity and should not be substituted as the gateway to heaven which is Grace. We restitute to enforce a good relationship between men and men but not men and God asee long as God has pardoned us. Hence we obey the voice of God on restitution not because of fear but because we are obedient sons that hearken to the voice of the Father. Yielding to the leading of the Holy Spirit is the only way to have an effective and fruitful restitution. http://www.rhemacafe.org |
Though convinced to write this but I am careful so as not to water down the message. I know many of us are looking for a way out, we are fed up with that location, we crave for something much more, somewhere higher. Yes I also do, and most times I get frustrated about my present location, I get angry, it seems as if God just went on sabbatical. Guess you understand my point. In my angry state, I remember David while tending his father's sheep. Just like any kid of his age he wouldn't be satisfied with that location, his peers are probably at the market square playing one prank or the other while he sits alone in the wilderness with the family's flock of sheep. I could imagine his frustration and anger, he would have seen his dad as a wicked father, making him to miss the fun that is entitled to his age. But the bible says "Be still and know that I am Lord." psalms 46:10. Ever wondered while he said we should be still? He said we should be calm, be at peace, let your mind be at rest because I am at work, though you can't see it now, though it is difficult for you to picture it now but be confident that I am working out the best for you. The Bible also comments in Hebrews 4:3a "For we which have believed do enter into rest" I know all we want is a restful place where we will be comfortable, where our happiness will know no bounds. But it only takes a believing heart and not a angry and frustrated heart to enter into that rest. No matter how we complain, no matter the face we make or how aggressive we have become because of our present location, all of this can't get us to that desired place and I am certain we can't create that desired place by our own strength. Hence, I encourage you friends, instead of exhibiting anger, frustration struggling, unhappiness, etc. Why don't you rely on him, relax, be still and accept the place you are while he does what he knows how to do best to lift you. Note, I am not saying God wants you to stay there, but if you are truly trusting Him, if you believe He is in control, then He will get you out of there. Also remember that He said "We know that in all things God works for good with those who love Him". Roms 8:28. You can see that you have no reason to be bothered, rather embrace your present location and wait patiently for the manifestation of His glory in your life. God bless you. |
"For promotion [cometh] neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and lifteth up another." It does not matter who has said you will not rise. A board might have decided that you're not deserving of promotion, forces might be militating against your lifting, but God is the Judge, and He will single handedly lift you above your enemies. Those who said you would not rise will soon be looking up to you. When you face any opposition on your way up beloved, remember that God, your heavenly Father, our merciful Redeemer and the Gracious Giver, is the Judge. Your rising is by the mighty hand of the Lord and no devil will stop you in Jesus name. #I write to sons. _PEACE! |
Have you ever wondered if restitution is important? Especially if the event happened before you got born again. As Christians we often hear about other Christians that have taken the bold step to make right what was wrong in the past and different questions rises within us yearning for the appropriate response. Restitution is a sensitive topic that many Christians find difficult to discuss. By the help of the Holy Spirit, we will be answering questions about restitution in this post and bringing light to grey areas. First, what is Restitution? Restitution can be defined as the act of restoring to the rightful owner something that has been taken away, lost, or surrendered. Restitution can also be defined as the act of making good or compensating for loss, damage, or injury; indemnification. Also, it means returning to or restoration of a previous state or position. I believe the answers to the questions below will bring clarity to our minds and light unto our paths. Question 1: Is restitution a prerequisite for God’s forgiveness? In other words, is it truly necessary for us to restitute before we are certain of our salvation? We believe restitution is never a hindrance to the work of Grace; it is simply an “instrument” God uses to pull down strong hold in the heart of men and to test their level of surrender to the Lordship of Christ through the Holy Spirit. Restitution is supposed to be initiated and instructed by the Holy Spirit who will consequently state to the believer what to restitute for, when he should and how he should. However restitution doesn’t affect an individual’s salvation. A biblical example to follow this is the event that happened during the crucifixion of Jesus, where the thief on the cross had so many things to restitute but he didn’t have the opportunity to do so. This in no way affected his entering into paradise with Jesus. Restitution can be a step to salvation for many, however it cannot be described as a yardstick for salvation. In other words, there are some possession we have/had that are/were stronghold against us encountering Christ because a man cannot serve two masters, and until these things are restituted physically or ”maybe spiritually”, Salvation may not be possible. Likewise, one of the most important steps to salvation is repentance and restitution is a variable of repentance. Restitution is one of the Christian virtues that can be seen both in the New Testament and in the Old Testament, although we have more biblical references before the dispensation of grace. However, it is important to understand that the gospel of Grace is not a call to laziness or to be care free rather it is a call to the abundant life Christ bought for us. The Holy Spirit carries out both the work of Grace and the work of restitution. Since we have learnt that salvation is both instantaneous and experiential, for the instant salvation we don’t need restitution but for the experiential salvation, restitution MIGHT be needed. Question 2 : Is there a conflict between restitution and justification? Justification means the record of the sins are wiped off; to be discharged and acquainted. On the other hand, restitution is about paying back. And we know that what we have in Christ is not forgiveness but Justification (Just like we never committed any sin in the past). Having established these, we believe that there is no conflict because restitution is making right. This example will help explain the answer better. The founder of a particular ministry in Nigeria lived a life to the glory of God and went to be with the Lord. On getting to heaven, he was denied and was allowed to come back to the earth by the mercy of the Lord. He had to make right and restore his relationship with someone because he printed tracks without the copyright permission of that individual (the owner). In 2 Corinthians 6:3, the bible tells us that “We put no obstruction in anybody’s way [we give no offense in anything], so that no fault may be found and [our] ministry blamed and discredited.”-the Amplified Bible Question 3 : Looking at the question about justification by grace and the example given above, are we to restitute what we acquire wrongly before we met Christ or after we do? It might be necessary for us to make restitution of some things that we did before we became born again. This is because some past deeds may stand as strongholds and may need to be cleared. It not as if one has not been forgiven, but the restitution is done because of the person that was offended. Sometimes, the Holy Spirit, who knows the situation of things and the effect of such evil action on the person that was offended and also knows the current state of the heart of the person that was hurt might instruct the one who offended the other to make restitution. I will like to share a personal story of how I restituted. I once lived with an uncle who gives me a lot of things and I could take things without telling him. I once took a sock without his permission and returned to school afterwards. I used the sock for a long time and one day the Holy Spirit minister to me about the sock and the need to give it back. Friends, I had to return it. It is important for us to understand that each individual’s dealings with the HOLY SPIRIT is “customized”. In Zacchaeus’ encounter with Jesus, Jesus didn’t ask him to restitute in order to receive anything. We can observe there that Jesus declared salvation on him even when he had no right to receive it (he didn’t even ask Jesus for salvation) but his heart was right. He received salvation in his house before he made d restitution. Restitution is not you paying for your sins, you do not have to pay because Christ has paid it all, but restitution is about you responding to whatever the Holy Spirit, your teacher, tells you to do, for the greater good of all involved. Question 4 : Is there anything like spiritual restitution? No, unless we want to restitute to the Holy Spirit because whatever we have in the spirit is given by God the father of light. Restitution is not just done religiously without direction especially when it is capable of making unpleasant situations worse. We must note that the Holy Spirit leads us to take the step of restitution, and as ‘Spirit controlled’ persons, we must obey. He knows the deep things of our heart and He knows some possessions with us that demands restitution. Restitution is good practice but it doesn’taffect a man’s salvation. This means when we don’t restitute we only deny ourselves of some right that pertains to us. But either we restitute or not we are saved by grace through faith and not by works. |

It was as if 29th of May 2015 would never come. Many waited for it and finally it is here. To many it is the dawn of the new era (The season of change). It is no longer news that the President elect will be sworn in today and it will be graced by the high and mighty of the world, but my concern goes to the citizen of my dear country. For the first time, I can see Nigerians beaming with hope, waiting expectantly for the new dispensation to kick-off. This goes a long way to show that our democracy has come of age and people are ready to embrace the new government. Fellow Nigerians, don't let us see change as a one man thing, it is a joint effort that should be embraced by all and sundry. Change dose not come on a platter of gold, it comes with its own inconveniences and challenges. For we to experience the change we clamor means we are ready to pay lot of sacrifices and support the new government. Let this change start from ME, YOU and let it spread across states, tribes, religions and even beyond the shores of our country. Let us break all the barriers that may want to hinder this change by staying united and focus. In all I wish the new government a wonder tenure and to us all; a very happy Democracy Day! God bless Nigeria Great People! Great Nation! |
Nothing empowers the Human race like knowledge, to be informed is to be transformed, to be informed is the currency of destiny This moment, millions of Nigerians have come together to demand something better, they are hungry for new leadership and a new direction for Nigeria. These Nigerians are tribes who are tired of being divided; religious sect who no longer bother about the crisis of yester-years and people who are ready for change in the country. They are young people who’ve been inspired for the very first time and those not-so-young who’ve been inspired for the first time in a long time. They include veterans and churchgoers, sportsmen and students, farmers and factory workers, and teachers and business owners. They all have varied backgrounds and different traditions, but they share the same values that bind us together as one country: common sense and honesty; generosity and compassion; decency and responsibility. What we need from this new government is the ability to bring people to the table and get things done. We want our president to understand the world we live in today and come up with a detailed and workable plan to bring opportunity and security to all Nigerians. We need a leader who will level with the Nigerian people on the things that the government need to do and what we, as citizens must do to get our country back on track. Nigerians have decided and it is the turn of the new President and his cabinet to deliver and give the citizen another opportunity to believe in Nigeria. It is high time we distinguish between hope and expectation, Now let's begin to expect the best from our great nation, remember a nation can only move forward if the citizens are ready to take her forward. Congratulations Nigeria, it's the beginning of the long awaited era. Happy Democracy Day! |

WAYS THAT WHICH TECHNOLOGY IS TRANSFORMING THE CLASSROOM Forget chalkboards, classrooms are going high-tech. Think 3-D printers in the art room, apps that track kids’ work habits, and much more. Teachers are also using everything from online translators to smartphone photos to keep parents looped in. We asked educators to share how tech helps them achieve two age-old goals: producing great students and making parents a part of the process. Here are some amazing things teachers are doing with 21st-century tools: 1. Kicking Creativity Up a Notch Hans Mundahl, a technology-integration education consultant, helped New Hampton School, a private, independent high school in New Hampton, N.H., create a "maker lab" where kids can use high-tech tools. Its centerpiece is a 3D printer, used to enhance a variety of classes. “The art department loves it, because kids can create beautiful 3D sculptures. The engineering department loves it because they can build bridges,” Mundahl says. 2. Giving Good Behavior a Boost Annie Krut teaches at Newark TEAM Academy, a charter public middle school in Newark, N.J. She uses a website called ClassDojo to track her students’ habits. “I create individual log-ins for students and their parents, and then set goals for each student, like ‘helping out classmates’ and ‘handing in homework on time.’ Each time a child does or doesn’t do these things, I note it. Students and their parents can check in through the website or a free phone app to see the child’s percentage of positive and negative behaviors.” Krut also sets class goals. When they’re met, she’ll offer a reward, such as popcorn. 3. Letting Kids Catch Lectures on Their Own Time One growing trend is "flipping" classrooms — using class time for projects, and letting kids take in their teachers’ lectures via videos they watch at home. “We do a number of our classes this way,” says Tim Childers, assistant principal at the L&N Stem Academy, a public magnet high school, in Knoxville, Tenn. In classes like chemistry, he explains, “it allows the students to spend more time getting hands-on learning.” Another growing trend is the classroom without walls. Elise Harris is a middle-school teacher with Florida Virtual School, a public school that’s entirely online. Among its students are those who need a more customized pace, and athletes who must tailor their schooling to their training. “Our self-teach classes are available 24/7, and teachers are available from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.,” Harris says. “We help our students via Skype, e-mail, online chat boxes, texts and other means.” Students can chat through a social network called GROM, and there's a robust parent portal as well. 4. Connecting Internationally — and Year Round Scheck Hillel Community School (PreK-12), in North Miami Beach, Fla., assigns its students of reading age some books to finish over the summer. These days, though, the kids don’t wait for fall to discuss the stories. Through Edmodo, an educational social network, students log on all summer to chat about the plots and characters. “Last year, kids jumped in from as far away as Israel and the Bahamas, where they were vacationing,” says Nancy Penchev, media and technology coordinator. “A student who was going to be new to our school in the fall logged on. One kid said he couldn’t wait to be his friend, and it really started his year off right.” When school is in session, kids also take some classes taught by teachers in Israel, Penchev adds: “The kids go into the computer lab and log on for classes in subjects including Hebrew and AP History.” 5. Showing Students New Ways To Learn The Score Ben Coleman teaches at Talbot Innovation Middle School in Fall River, MA, a high-poverty, urban school. Most of his kids don't own PCs, but Coleman is still helping them get tech-savvy — and excited about homework. “I give my kids assignments with built-in bubble sheets,” he says. “The next day, they scan their homework on the class's computer, using a program calledBubbleScore, and instantly see how they did.” |
