ABUJA – All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Organisation, APCPCO, Sunday, said that Jigawa State Governor, Mr. Sule Lamido has been pressured by the Federal Government to grant a hate interview against its presidential candidate, General Mohammadu Buhari. APCPCO said that the interview was the only requirement needed from Governor Lamido to ease off the pressure of arrest and prosecution of his son by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. Speaking in a press conference in Abuja, the Director, Media and Publicity Unit of the campaign organisation, Mallam Shehu Garba told Journalists that Lamido’s interview was aired at Federal Radio Cooperation of Nigeria, FRCN. According to Garba, Lamido’s message was to told the North that Buhari when elected president would not be in charge by his running mate, Professor Yemi Osinbajo. He said: “We just got information that all FRCN stations have been directed to link up for a live interview to be granted by Gov Sure Lamido of Jigawa State about now. “The contents of the interview as agreed with VP Namadi Sambo and President Jonathan are to essentially damage GMB along the following lines: “GMB will be a figurehead while Osinbajo will be the de facto president. He will give examples of GMB’s leadership style mentioning Idiagbon (COS-SHQ) and Salihijo (PTF). “This situation he will claim is unfair to the North as the South-West will be indirectly getting another term of office as president in addition to the Obasanjo years, so Northerners should not be deceived into voting APC.” Garba reminded the public especially Lamido’s audience that the Governor has never worked with Buhari to know his leadership styles, querying when Lamido became the spokesman of Northern Nigeria. “A few things we will like to point to Governor Lamido’s audience members include: Lamido had been pressured to do the interview because of the EFCC pressure on his sons’ corruption charges. “Lamido has never worked near or with GMB to know his leadership style. Those working closely with him in the APC know otherwise. ” When did Lamido become a spokesman for the North? (4) What did he and other Jonathan apologists negotiate for the North as the SW has been doing with Jonathan in the last two weeks? “Of the millions of the US Dollars that Mr. Jonathan has allegedly been sharing to traditional and religious leaders in the South-West, how much of it did Lamido negotiate and obtain on behalf of the Northern traditional and religious leaders? “As a self appointed Northern interest spokesman, what is his response to the pejorative references made by Mrs. Patience Jonathan about Northerners?” Garba queried. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/03/lamido-pressured-to-grant-hate-interview-against-buhari/ |

Abuja – The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Gen. Muhammadu Buhari has promised to alleviate the plight of pensioners across the country when he becomes President. General Buhari, who spoke while being presented with a petition signed by a group of ex-servicemen protesting their treatment by the PDP-administration in the country, said that he is “saddened by the current situation of military, police and all other pensioners.” He said it is unconscionable to allow senior citizens, who have served the country with zeal and patriotism in their youth, to be subjected to indignity and suffering while waiting to be paid their gratuity and pension, with some even having to engage in protests in their quest to be paid. The APC presidential candidate also said “a situation where corrupt officials of state outrightly embezzle funds meant for payment of pensioners or delay such payment in order to fraudulently earn interest from deposit placements with banks will not be tolerated” and promised to put a stop to it. As elected president, Buhari said he will invoke provisions of Article 1.5 of the APC manifesto to ensure that months before retirement of any officer, his or her entitlements would be worked out and accruing gratuity paid on the effective date of retirement while pension will follow as at when due. Buhari While noting that the way and manner a society treats its aged and infirm is reflective of the civilization and decency of its people as a country. Nigeria must strive to provide for the youth and build a strong future for retiring senior citizens. This, he said is his covenant of service which he has pledged to uphold. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/03/i-will-alleviate-plight-of-pensioners-buhari-2/

He also retweet congratulatory messages from his followers on the micro-blogging site. Meanwhile Dr. Ezekwesili, does not have kind words for the lawmakers, berating them for their action. “So despite #Ekitigate, our Senate confirmed the morally repugnant nomination of @MObanikoro as a Minister by our President? Shameless lot The issue of @MObanikoro ‘s nomination&confirmation has no political context for Citizens for it is ENTIRELY about our VALUES as a people Habitual acts of impunity by our political class IS NOT sustainable. A journey through world History is all they need to help them know so, ” she posted on her Twitter page. The nomination of Obanikoro by President Goodluck Jonathan, was greeted with protest, especially by Senators from the opposition, All Progressives Congress, following his alleged role in the Ekiti election. The three senators from Lagos state (the state of origin of Obanikoro) also pettitioned the leadership of the Senate, urging for the disqualification of his nomination.
