TraderMoni set to begin N15,000 Disbursements as more Beneficiaries pay back

By Business Day

On Feb 11, 2019

With hopes of higher loan values, many beneficiaries of the TraderMoni N10,000 loan have completed their repayments just as many others have started the repayment process.

Access to Capital is one of the major challenges Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) face in Nigeria.

Historically, less than 1% of bank loans have gone to Nigeria’s SME sector. This is why the TraderMoni loans target petty traders and artisans at the base of the pyramid; the program aims to enable the growth of this sector by providing easy access to affordable credit and by making more petty traders and artisans financially included so they can access other financial products to help their businesses scale.

Speaking with one of the beneficiaries,Ogunnubi Folashade, a beverage seller in Iwo market – Osun state, attested to how easy the repayment process was. In her words,“It was easy for me to pay back the loan, I met with one of the TraderMoni agents who sold the repayment scratch card to me. I loaded it just the same way I load airtime on my phone and that was how I repaid my entire loan”. She is one of several people who have paid back their loans in anticipation of the N15,000 disbursements. She expressed her intentions to use the next loan to continue to grow her business citing how the first was very helpful. “I was able to increase my stock by purchasing the goods in larger quantities and reduced wholesale prices” she said.

Mrs Folashade stated emphatically that the loan has helped many of her counterparts in petty trade. She expressed her confidence in beneficiaries’ willingness to pay back as every one of them anticipated the change in level they can experience with increasing credit worthiness and access to greater financial support.

Another beneficiary, Adamu Usman, a fish trader in Sabon GariJanguza market, Kano State also confirmed the ease of the repayment process. For him, repayment represents the opportunity to grow his business, and possibly expand into other goods.

The Tradermoni loans graduate from N10,000 to N15,000, N20,000, N50,000 and N100,000. Beneficiaries automatically qualify for the next tranche as they back the preceding loan amount and to facilitate easy repayment, the Bank of Industry has made available a plethora of repayment options: one of which is to repay into any commercial bank in the country; all they have to do is walk into any bank and inform the bank of their intent to pay their “BOI-GEEP” loan on PayDirect. Another option is to purchase repayment scratch cards readily available with the TraderMoni agents deployed to the 2260markets currently covered. These cards are currently available in N430, being the estimated weekly repayment proposed for the first N10,000 loans. However, sources at the Bank of Industry confirm that the cards will also be rolled out for the repayment of MarketMoni loans.

MarketMoni is the second of the three GEEP loan products. It is targeted at more established traders and, as with all GEEP products, provides interest free, collateral free loans to traders. However, unlike TraderMoni loans where bank accounts are not required as a criteria for eligibility, MarketMoni beneficiaries must provide their BVN to be considered for the loan facility. The BVN serves as a digital collateral to drive repayments compliance. MarketMoni loans start at 50,000 and go up to 300,000. As beneficiaries pay back the preceding value, they immediately qualify for the next.

Beneficiaries are happy at the fact that the repayment process has been made so easy through the purchase of a scratch cards. As such, they do not need to go extra miles and spend longer hours on queues at the bank, all that is needed can be reached within their immediate market community, and in some markets, through the same agents that registered them for the loan.

To encourage more repayments and just as designed, our sources at the Bank of Industry (BOI) confirm that the Bank is set to begin disbursing the second tranche of the loan to qualified beneficiaries. This is great news for those who have paid back, and for many others who are on the repayment journey.

GEEP, through its loan products, is proving to be a workable model for expanding financial inclusion, and for boosting the MSME sector with affordable credit.

Am yet to understand what the hashtag Atiku means" peace" implies. Is it this same atiku who during his administration as the VP innocent civilians were massacred?
Let's go back to memory lane, where was Atiku during the 2001 civilian massacre by the military in Benue state. (the zaki Biam)over 100 civilians were killed in several villages in that state as a revenge for the killings of 19 soldiers earlier that month. OK let's assume he was just the VP to OBJ,and it wasn't his call, what did he do to condemn the act or even empathise with the people? How about those affected by the present insurgencies in the north east, what has he done as a billionaire that he claims to be to reach out to the victims? Please Atiku can be anything else other than peace.

“Buhari can feel the inevitable defeat coming his way, so the desperate attempt by the administration to cause chaos so that the elections will not hold, at the same time becloud its brutal and inhuman Saudi-sponsored Zaria genocide that resulted in the brutal death of 1000+ innocent children, women and men in Zaria in December 2015”, IMN spokesman, Ibrahim Musa, said in a statement sent to newsmen on Monday.

its inhuman to wish another human death or to rejoice over their ordeal.so a lot of unkind and terrible tweets were made about the VP'S accident. Some Nigerians wished he had not come out alive or uninjured. some even went further to say things like "I wish it was the president that had been on that air craft and had died". Such comments make me wonder if we are human at all, we claim to be one Nigeria but at the slightest opportunity we display lack of value for life and humanity. Its ok to have a problem with the present administration and their style of leadership but its heartless to wish them death. Thank God men are not God. Thank God for the life of the vice president, thank God he came out safe and sound. thank God for peace in Nigeria and God bless Nigeria.

PoliticsRe: Troubling Questions About "Tradermoni" Every Nigerian Should Be Asking by fibiyaks: 3:53am On Feb 02, 2019
Youngadvocate:
For weeks now, the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osibanjo has intensified efforts in the disbursement of Tradermoni reportedly meant to be (a Non-Repayment Loan) Investment Scheme from the federal government.

Expectedly, and rightly so, the scheme has been widely criticized by Nigerians for many strong reasons. While some quarters largely criticize the scheme for the timing pf the disbursement which is just few weeks to the elections, others likened it to “vote-buying.” Even so, a lot of people say it is just a mere gimmick of the APC-led federal government to re-loot the recovered $322.5 million Abacha loot. Though, the supporters of the scheme are noticeable in their numbers. Most of them, of course, are members of the APC.

No matter how one takes a critical look at the scheme, one will be faced with the incontrovertible fact that the scheme is flawed with some sinister motives, grand irregularities, corrupt tendencies and dark secrecies.

However, there are very disturbing questions every Nigerian, especially the youths need to ask about the scheme.

1. What is actually Tradermoni? The nature and aims of the scheme are concealed (in secrecy). The federal government says it is an
Investment programme. Is it really that?

2. If it is an investment scheme targeted at boosting businesses like the federal government claimed, what impact can N10, 000 have on a
business in Nigeria’s today economy?

3. Why is the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osibanjo the one directly sharing the money? Why wouldn’t the federal government setup a
committee to oversee the disbursement? Or since the scheme is the brainchild of the Bank of Industry under the Government Enterprise
and Empowerment Programme (GEEP), why not leave it to such a professional body to oversea the disbursement?

4. If truly it is an investment scheme, why are some beneficiaries asked to submit the Voter Identification Number (VIN) on their PVCs
before they could access the loan as reported by Saharareporters
(see link here: http://saharareporters.com/2018/08/13/fg-requests-pvcs-traders-access-loan)

5. Why did the Vice President extend the disbursement to church? Note, the vice President was at a Church in Lagos the past Sunday for the
disbursement.

6. Who are the beneficiaries of this money? What is their demography? Are they poor business women only? Men and women?

7. What criteria does the APC-led federal government use to determine the beneficiaries?

8. Why now? Why would the federal government wait until the general elections are just weeks away before they would start the
disbursement?

9. Were these monies duly appropriated or legally approved by the National assembly for expenditure?

10. Why is the scheme masked with secrecy? It is only the Federal government that tells us how much have been disbursed and how many
people have benefited. The media have no such record of theirs.

11. What are the data of the disbursement so far? How can the ordinary Nigerian access these data to ascertain the facts?

12. Why isn’t anyone asking question or raising concerns about this?

Fellow Nigerians, let us ask questions and follow through until genuine, convincing answers are given. God bless Nigeria.

Lalasticlala, Mynd44
has there ever be a time in the history of the PDP Government when 5 naira is given to the ordinary man? Lets assume ur claim is correct about vote buying, this is Nigeria, we are Nigerians, we can collect this monies and still vote our choice las las....so biko this questions no carry water. And keep your so called church announcement out of this biko.+the VP is not jobless to share 10k to thousands of Nigerians on a daily basis, yes he lunched the program by giving to some Nigerians Biko don't insult him, Its outrageous.

PoliticsIssues Buhari's Administraion Inherited. by fibiyaks(op): 3:15am On Feb 02, 2019
the Buhari's administration inherited a huge financial debt from the past administration. And even at that, the administration keeps doing more with little.in the history of Nigeria budget was not made for the 2019 election neither was funds made available for campaigns. This present administration is a prudent one, it is an efficient administration. The PDP administration left an empty treasury for this administration. The buhari administration inherited
*Zero savings: money was borrowed to pay salaries
*Zero infrastructure
*No power supply
*high insurgency
*A corrupt system.
this Administration is still doing everything it can to take away the burden and sufferings of the common man.

discusant:
President Buhari does not understand that wanton official corruption in Nigeria is bred and fed by the worst form of unitary governance system in the world practiced in a multi ethnic and multireligious country like Nigeria.

The governance system breeds Boko Haram and herdsmen violence, breeds Biafra and Oduduwa separatists, breeds political instability and arrested development of Nigeria.

But Buhari refuses the SW, SS, SE, and NC zones of Nigeria's proposal to restructure the failed political process for the good of Nigeria. Because Buhari believes wrongly that Nigeria's political system is favourable to Buhari clan in Nigeria and in Niger Republic.

PoliticsLet The People Decide. by fibiyaks(op): 3:29am On Feb 01, 2019
Nigeria is a country with a population of 180 million people, and a few percentage of this population has represent the country badly and for that reason Nigerians are seen as corrupt in the eyes of the international community.this few are the bad and corrupt leaders we recycle every four years. They go from house of representative ,to senator, to governor, then aspire for presidency without transforming the lives of the people during their four years in office.
one of the founding fathers of our democracy is Olusegun Obasanjo, who has served the nation for eight years, he aspired for a third term which the constitution didn't permit,he tried to bribe his way to amending it to his favour but it didn't work and after several tries he stepped down.did he perform well? Maybe he did,but that is not the issue, the issue here is how he always force leaders down the throat of Nigerians all in the name of godfatherism. he had said atiku was not responsible enough to govern the Nation, he even went further to include it in his book only for him to endorse him after sometime? We say no to his recommendation this time, let the people decide who they want for 2019.
PoliticsPastor Osinbanjo(cut Him Some Slack Biko) by fibiyaks(op): 2:54am On Feb 01, 2019
so I came across a post addressing a billboard campaign, the vice president was addressed as pastor osinbanjo, (it says vote for righteousness)And of course Nigerians began calling him all sorts of name for that title. Mind you this man is not going to stop being a pastor because he is now the VP of Nigeria, he is a pastor and will always be,until God says otherwise. Now for those of us that think he added pastor in order to persuade Christians to vote him?am disappointed at you because I expect you to know better. We have the Bible for guide and reference regards men of God in Governance. We have the likes of Daniel,Davide,Joseph etc who were men of God and also politicians. On a second thought there's a high possibility he didn't pay for the billboard advert neither was he the one that asked that his spiritual title be added. There is also a tendency that haters added the title to mock him. He is not the reason why things aren't working in your life. He is doing his best, Nigeria is not an easy place to govern so cut him some slack Biko. And keep his Title out of your argument.

Let him not also forget to write Imam Yemi Osinbajo on billboards in north...

To this man pastor is just like every other titles..
so he stops being a pastor the moment he ventured into politics? What is wrong with you people?mind you he wasn't the one that put up that billboard, neither was he the one that paid for it, for all I care this may be a propaganda from the opposition just to mock him and have people like him throw stones at him for being a Daniel. Its your type that do not believe that a righteous man should involve in governance ,but prefer they sit and pray without participation. How do we expect to make a difference if we don't participate?
