Senate has refused to clear Magu as EFCC Chair!

Self Preservation is the first order of nature!
Criminals dominate the senate: Ex-governors still standing corruption for trial or under investigation, a wanted drug baron in the US and many more shady characters and you want them to confirm a man who in less than a year in office recovered looted funds of over N500B and is prosecuting the high and mighty.

It's only a tree that will see you sharpening an axe to cut it down and wont take to it's heels.

Webmasters / Siteground Suspended My Affiliate Account by fidorocks(m): 8:23am On Sep 18, 2016
I received a message from Siteground that my affiliate account has been suspended and that they are suspending all affiliate accounts in Nigeria due to their inability to process payment of commissions.

Please who else was affected by this?
Does anyone know any very good host one can recommend their hosting service and earn a good commission?

I have written several protest letters to the Management of Siteground and suggests other people affected do the same.

Pls someone should recommend a good web host with a good affiliate marketing program.

Thanks

Hello there Barrister Fido,

Just some tips from HK, the WP guru.

1) you have a nice domain, good exposure required to gain more readers.

2) add pages:
- about pages: it would be nice to know who the man behind the wheels is, what he does, where he practices, what his practice area is. Add an inset picture showing your handsome face. If you have several writers, include a brief info of each contributor.

- Privacy policy - that should be one the #1 list of pages for a lawyer like you

- disclaimer notice - while you share your own opinions, you dont want someone to take your lega-statements hook, line and sinker

3) If you have a private practice, why not use a more corporate theme, exsadhttp://themeisle.com/demo/?theme=Lawyeria%20Lite) and then feature your blog contents on the home page. You get to kill 2-birds with one stone: while you write interesting legal articles, you promote your own practice.

4) Free theme: go for something minimal, something that showcases your content.
Personal recommendation: http://wpexplorer-demos.com/gopress-demo/

5) Tutorials, Tutorials, Tutorials: readers world loves tutorials
Tip: I havent come across a blog written by a lawyer who offers legal-tutorials for everyday issues Nigerians face.
Meaning: can you give us some tutorials?

these are just wild example:
- I am harrassed by someone I know, how do I get legal representation?
- 10-dos and donts after I was arrested by the police for an offense I have never heard of.
- omo-onile issues? 10-documents to require from land sellers?
- my father is forcing me to marry his best friend, what does the constitution say?
- what is a C of O?
- what is a tenancy agreement
- what are the rights of my landlord? what are my rights as a tenant?
- 20-rights you didnt know you have as a Nigerian male
- 20-rights you didnt know you have as a Nigerian female
- Nigerian constitution for Nigerian dummies - explain in lay man terms

Barrister Fido, are you feeling me. I myself would like to read on the above.

Now let me assume your area of law practice does not cover all of the above, you could invite your other legal colleagues to help you cover other areas.
Im feeling your blog could be a blast if you could hit the right buttons.

If you need technical help with your WP site, hit me up on whatsapp.

warm regards

Business / Your Business Needs A Website; See Reasons Why! by fidorocks(m): 11:07am On Jul 20, 2016
The World has gone crazy. Digital technology has made it possible for businesses to reach the whole world at the click of a button.

With a website, your business runs 24/7 and can be accessed anywhere and at anytime. You are not limited by time and space.

It's cheaper to have a website serve as a digital office than rent a physical office. Carry your office in your pockets or bags and operate from anywhere.

Have an interface for client/customer communication at very little cost and time.

Do you know that only 7% of Nigerian businesses are online. Do you know there are about 5 billion searches worldwide for products, services and information on different search engines?

Do you know 80 million of those searches are from Nigeria? Do you know the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) estimates that there are about 30 million Nigerians with internet enabled Mobil phones.

Can your be business be available at the click of a button to over 30 million Nigerians and billions worldwide with attendant benefits as well as huge income?

Why not. Getting a website is as easy as ABC and cheap too. Guess what? You can do it yourself and manage your site easily and without stress. No extra expense incurred on web designers and developers. Just click on the link for easy step by step guide of how to buy, set up and design your website in less than 20 minutes.

Politics / Ebonyi State; Unforgivable Profligacy In The Midst Of Acute Poverty By Maduka On by fidorocks(m): 8:51am On Jul 14, 2016
Last week Friday, holiday weary Nigerians ended the week with the shocking news that Ebonyi State which ranks as one of the poorest state in Nigeria had bought new 2016 model Prado Jeeps for the members of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly.

Incidentally last week was not a very good week for the Lagos State government in the media as the decision of the state government to enforce the law banning street hawking was in the
front burner with the government receiving a thorough lashing from various commentators including yours sincerely.

In my article published in Vanguard Online and other news medium titled The Lagos Ban on Street Trading; Ambode Tempts Fate, I had warned the Lagos State that it could be setting the stage for a revolution with its policy considering the current economic situation in the country. There is a co-relation between street trading in Lagos and other cities with Ebonyi State which I shall point out later in this article.

In Ebonyi State, It Does Not Rain, It Pours

After the 2006 National Census, the population of Ebonyi State stood at 2,176,947 though the population was estimated to hit 2,957,006.04 by the end of 2015.

However, Ebonyi which is the last state to be created in the Southeast Geopolitical Zone according to a 2013 UNDP Human Development Report has the least Human Development Index (HDI) compared to other states in the Southeast.

The same UNDP Report’s estimate on the poverty level in the state is too shocking to be true and is even stated in Ebonyi State Fact Sheet as follows;

“Ebonyi State poverty statistics closely mirror those of states in some parts of Northern Nigeria. There is no single state in the southern part of the country where poverty rate is above the national average of 46 per cent except in Ebonyi State, which is 56%. This is higher than the national average of 46% and twice as high as the average of 27% for the SouthEast.

“In the 2012 national poverty report, Ebonyi State by all levels of analysis is the poorest state in Nigeria. In the report, about 80% of Ebonyi citizens are classified as falling below the poverty line; that is living below the $1 per day benchmark.

According to the UNDP – Human Development Report, Ebonyi State has the least per capita GDP when compared to other states in the South-East, and is the 4th poorest state in Nigeria according to the NBS poverty report of 2013.”

Please kindly note that Ebonyi State Fact Sheet is a publication of the Ebonyi State government and is available online on http://www.ssgebonyi.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/Ebonyi-Fact-Sheet.pdf

The Resilience of Ebonyi People

Hon. Seriake Dickson, the Governor of Bayelsa State was once quoted to heave said that the near collapse of the state economy due to the non-payment of workers salary was because “Bayelsans were lazy” and depended on the government for all their needs.

Same cannot be said of Ebonyi people who are so resilient that they are willing to subject themselves to even the indignity of engaging in the most menial jobs to earn a living. Also, I have never heard that Ebonyi people are criminals.

This is despite the fact that Ebonyi was ranked in a 2001 National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) Survey as having the highest rate of unemployment in the southeast and 2nd highest after Zamfara State, in the whole country. The NBS survey estimated that over 78% of the entire population are engaged in low income agriculture.

In most states of the southeast, Ebonyi indigenes constitute the highest number of hawkers, house helps and other demeaning jobs. In fact, I have even heard from some Ebonyi indigenes that as much as 95% of the Igbo hawkers in Lagos and other Nigerian cities are from Ebonyi State.

Ebonyi State is one of the educationally disadvantaged states in the country and the only state to be so termed in the whole of the southeast. However, efforts made by the administration of Dr. Sam Egwu to bridge the educational gap through mass scholarship schemes at all educational levels seems to have hit the rocks with subsequent administrations.
Enter Dave Umahi; the Poster Boy of Profligacy

On 16th November, 2015 Sahara Reporters published a report of the Centre for International Advanced and Professional Studies (CIAPS) which ranked Governor Dave Umahi as the worst performing governor in Nigeria as at that time. The governor had scored an abysmal 35% on a Governors’ Performance Index (GPI) which covered the first month of each governor’s tenure. See the report on http://saharareporters.com/2015/11/16/ebonyi-state-governor-umahi-ranked-one-worst-governors

Dave Umahi has gotten another award as the most profligate governor and one without conscience. A 2016 model of the Prado Jeep goes for a whooping N15, 000, 000.00 and 24 of such for the 24 members of the State House of Assembly would cost N360,000,000.00 (if we assume that the contract was inflated which is rarely the case).

N360,000,000.00 would help many Ebonyi children risking lives and limb in Lagos traffic and would now have to contend with the fear of KAI and LASTMA, get an education. That amount of money invested in skills acquisition project would help lift many Ebonyi people out of poverty.

In the southeast, locally produced rice used to be known as Abakailiki rice as Ebonyi state was a major hub for local rice production but currently, Abakailiki rice production has dwindled. As one of my friend suggested on my Facebook wall when I raised the issue of Umahi’s profligacy, that amount of money invested in rice production in today’s Nigeria that rice has become gold, would have greatly increased income generation to farmers in the state and the government.

Umahi however, chose to give out brand new cars to 24 people (many of whom are returnees that had been given official cars in their previous tenure) whose number are very insignificant in relation to the over 78% of his people living in acute poverty really makes me wonder what is the crime of the ordinary Ebonyi people for electing a governor like their fellow citizens all over Nigeria.

This is more so, when the governor could have purchased made in Nigeria Innoson vehicles for a fraction of the amount spent considering the present economic realities of the country and the lack of foreign exchange.

Between Ambode and Umahi

It is hypocrisy to descend on Ambode and in the case of Umahi, we all “look and pass”. I expected a #OccupyEbonyiGovernmentHouse to be trending all over cyberspace but then I didn’t hear a whimper.

MASSOB and IPOB are not threatening fire and brimstone or issuing ultimatums to the occupant of the Ebonyi State government house or his cronies in the State House of Assembly. It’s a deafening silence.

With the conspiratorial silence of the society on the madness in Ebonyi State, Ebonyi people could be said to have entered a one chance bus without anyone lending a finger or albeit a voice of rescue. Ebonyi State in her current state is a reflection of our hypocrisy as a nation!

Nairaland / General / NL Moderators Wrongly Changed The Section Of My Post. by fidorocks(m): 11:49am On Jul 13, 2016
I put up a post on Wole Soyinka's involvement in the Western Region political crisis in 1965 which was a fallout of the 1964 and 1965 Elections in the political section.

I was surprised I was moved to the literature section. I wonder why one would do that. Soyinka no doubt is a towering literary figure but the post details his involvement in a historically defining moment of our political and legal development and thus by all means should be in the political section.

Let me put it this way, many religious leaders make political statements and they are posted in the political and not religious section of NL.

That they are religious figures is immaterial.

Please the moderators should move back my post to the political section. The link to the post is below:

Webmasters / Help Me Conclude My Google Adsense Account Verification by fidorocks(m): 11:29am On Jul 13, 2016
I applied for Google AdSense late last year but at the end my application was rejected with an offer to reapply. However I never did and my account was cancelled.

I was notified through a mail that my Google AdSense account had been cancelled and I was given an option to reapply for a new AdSense account.

I did that and received a mail 3 days ago, that my account was almost ready and I should sign in and create ads and paste the ad codes into the HTML of my page.

Unfortunately when I log into AdSense and sign into my account, I ser nothing but my table of earnings and I have earned nothing.

How do I access the area of my account where I can create adds.

Please bloggers with such experience should help out with advice.

Thank you.

“This is a voice, the true voice of the people of Western Nigeria and all the voices are saying very simply:

Akintola, get out;

Akintola, get out and take with you your band of renegades who have lost with you any pretence of humanity, and have become nothing, but murdering beasts.

Take with you your goons, who would sooner kill and maim, than acknowledge that you are now an outcast to human society. The lawful government of Western Nigeria is the UPGA government, elected by the people of the West.

Let every self-seeking impostor get out now before the people, losing patience, wash the streets in their polluted blood. Get out, and take with you your lepers, your things, your army, your police, in their kits and armoured cars frightening old women in the markets, pumping bullets through the doors of female students and dragging their brave bodies down concrete steps because they dare to protest.

The children loathe you; mothers curse you; all men despise you. And the youths of this country long for the moment when your presence will no longer pollute their home for a decent future.

In the name of Oduduwa and our generation, get out! Before the frustration of ten million people, their anger and their justice in an all consuming fire come over your heads.

And to you the Police, who think you merely obey orders; to you, the Army, who commit these crimes in the name of obedience and to you, our Obas who have lost shame, honour and dignity; to you the civil servants, Radio, Press, who think more of your bellies than the legacy you have bequeathed to our generation; to you, the intellectuals, who sit while acts of horror are committed before your eyes; to you, priests, bishops, imams who do not use your pulpits for the benefit of our generation:

We remind you that the floods that have waited many years to break loose will not have the leisure to choose between the hovels and palace ..."
