I see what you all are saying and to some extent, it makes sense. However, though her morality is a private matter, the salesgirl's character is in issue here. I would not mind so much if it was one of the "ordinary" girls, but this girl has gone out of her way to sell herself differently than she really is. I would consider that a serious moral offence. I would begin to imagine what she really is planning and wonder what sort of evil she has up her sleeve. This kind of girl can just up and carry your money one day and disappear. Her home address on her employment data may be false. This situation is very reprehensible in my opinion. I'd immediately relieve her of her duties after giving her a sound talk letting her know she's disappointed greatly people who admired and held her on a pedestal. I would let her know that dishonesty will always cost her something in life, beginning with this present job. I would let her know that it is her life to live as she seems fit. She should own it. How many of us know and trust, and even love, a razz girl? You know what she can do, and she is not a snake. I would hope that the drastic repercussion of losing her job would shock and reset her brain. I would talk to her without judgement as pertains her immoral lifestyle. I would concentrate on the deceptive lifestyle because while the first one does not affect my business, the second one has the potential to destroy it. That's my (likely) unpopular opinion. |

NOWORRIES, The question was for "wirinet" who asked to be clarrified. But just so you know, when we are talking of branding & rebranding in this context, I believe we mean the verb not the noun. |
@ Pepeye,wirinet Good point, got me thinking. I think that a brand is an association to something else, conciously or unconciously drawn, negative or positive . where it is negative, it most likely is simply the impression other people have about a thing. For example Nigeria as "the giant of Africa" , while geographically correct is an image/brand how we always wanted others to see us for whatever reasons-because it sounds good, or for political reasons. So too "food basket of the nation" is a brand, " the land of Promise" "the (defunct) heart of africa", "center of excellence" . These are all positive and conciously built. On the negative we may have, black sheep of the family, ugliest city in the world, dirtiest, most corrupt- not consciously developed but they stick anyway and are considered brands for that reason. Today Nigeria is being known for corruption all over the world, its a negative brand. That requires re-branding. altering. changing. giving it another image to replace the old one. Have I been any help? |
To my mind, & I know this is one thing ALL of us who've posted so far can agree on, Nigeria has a legion of problems:infrastructure, et al. If this is the premise, then can we also agree that one solution is not going to fix all the problems? Not even Mrs D's Re-branding Nigeria. So how about if the education ministry came up with a plan for the education sector, the agric ministry did the same, and so on and so forth? because this is what the information ministry is trying to do. The way I see this re-brand thing is that it is aimed at addressing Nigeria's image, especially abroad, as a component of the information ministry's agenda (I sincerely hope this is not all Mrs D has, but as part of it, ya'all know, it could work?) Now, to re-brand a thing is to alter its public image(positively,mostly). That is to alter the impression others have of it or how they look at it. , Now, I am guessing that no good producer sees his product as being 100%perfect. He thinks constantly of coming up with better, improved products . But imagine if this company were to wait until it has the "ultimate" product before putting it out there, trying to brand and rebrand where neccessary?! The point therefore is that Nigeria must not wait until EFCC has caught up with all the crooks giving Nigeria a bad name. it can tell the world : we have set up shop and we intend to make it safe for you here. in the same breath, it can say that we know we have a power problem, but we have chosen the best man we could find for the job and we are working on it,etc. I believe the statement re-branding Nigeria is making then is that we recognise our problems, we are working on them the best we can, we believe in ourselves & urge you to embrace us. Finally let me leave you with an adage from my tribe. Roughly translated it goes something like this: It's the (owner)person who takes his hen to the market that prices it cheap. I certainly dont feel good when some person somewhere says that Nigerians(including my good self ) are thieves. We are not all thieves. I am not a thief. And I will support whatever efforts are being made to change that twisted impression about me.Out. |

Hey, my people! Happy new year to ya all, keep walking in His light. Blessings! |
@OLAADEGBU, Hey you, will look those up for sure. ![]() Let His light shine on, @ Ya'all Armed robbers were in my building block on the 19th but thank God He heard me when I called and they When I prayed I saw a wall of fire- I just was praying till they left. Praise God for ever more!!! Merry Chrismas Guys!! Blessings! |
@OLAADEGBU, highly flavoured?! @All, You guys are wonderful! |
Analytical, OLAADEGBU, JeSoul,All My Pipu, Thanks for the replies. JeSoul, i fear o , Analytical, about that offering thingy, the pastor's argument was not even that they couldn't be sure what denomination she had dropped in the tray, but that the money in there was already sanctified. Anyways, I think I agree with all your points, esp about applying some wisdom in such matters.OLAADEGBU, you are a continual blessing, thanks. Blessings! |
Hi guys, Another question. I was in church on sunday and the pastor was relating a story where a certain lady dropped some money in the offering tray and wanted to collect change! Shocking ain't it? I was at first too, but the more I think about it I am begining to wonder if "giving willingly" "according to one's heart" doesn't cover that situation. Just a perspective but, does any one have an opinion on this? Blessings! |
@JeSoul, Daniel, Peter, John?! Haba! ![]() |
@reindeer, I thank the Lord for your life, may He continue to keep you in the hollow of His palm (hand). Amen.Amen! Hi everyone, good to see you guys are still standing, all of ya. Well, I have a question, Did I die? I went to sleep some nights ago. I found myself at a kind of waiting room. there was a lentern and a man behind it. he had a big book open in front of him. there were two doors to both sides of him. as i stood before him he said to me "what have yu done?" as I began to speak, he began to write in the book. i started to fade as i continued to speak. at some point he said something in a language i do not understand but i got the interpretation, i guess , and it was that i should go back because of my mom. then i just left the room in a backward movement. now, did i die? |
From the rising of the sun to the going down The Lord's name shall be praised! |
